After 40 years of having wall-to-wall carpeting, we decided to have it removed and have the hardwood floor restored. We chose Daniel, owner of DMM Floor Covering, to do the work based on a long list of 5-star Yelp reviews. His pricing was well within our budget for the job. He was able to start almost immediately, and the first several day's work removing the carpeting (along with some tile and linoleum in places) in the main part of the house revealed the original 1956 hardwood floor in practically mint condition. Very little new wood was required. Daniel's experts sanded, stained, and finished the main area by the end of the first week of the project. During the second week, the flooring in three other rooms went through the same treatment, and no new wood was needed. All the baseboards and trim were installed during the third week. The project also entailed moving and replacing the furniture which DMM also did. Daniel and his team are thoroughly conscientious and do sterling work. We are very happy with the total outcome of the job and the way in which it was done. Now we are enjoying a beautifully restored, mid-century hardwood floor in our house. We have a 70 year old home, and when it was flipped and sold to us 8 years ago, most of the house had beautifully refurbished original hardwood floors. But the bedrooms were carpeted over. The flippers were either too lazy or too greedy. So we finally decided to rip out the carpet and it was a sad sight. The hardwood had been used for drop cloths during the flip. One floor looked like a crime scene, with a big piece a plywood replacing some hardwood, and the rest of the floor trashed and possibly water damaged. But Daniel did a tremendous job! The lesser damaged floor was able to be saved and looks like new. Naturally it matches the rest of the house as it's original wood. For the more damaged floor, he tested scrapings to determine the type, he removed the old wood, and replaced it with hardwood which matched the original 1952 floors. Then he matched the stain color to the existing floors. New baseboards in both rooms too! These guys worked fast, did a great haul away and clean up, and respected the rest of the house, taping off with visqueen plastic barriers, etc. And the price was right! I have one more room to do and I will definitely call DMM FLOOR COVERING. Hoping it's not another crime scene ;-) read more

We called Daniel out to go over some possible Vinyl plank flooring options for a home we had purchased and he was super helpful! He came in a mask and had samples to show also, which we ended not needing anyway! He lifted up a corner of the carpeted area in the living room where we found nice hardwood flooring! Once his crew had pulled up the carpet, Daniel went over options for repairing damaged areas and lacing in new flooring to extend the floor into the bedroom that had plywood in it instead of the original hardwood. He matched the wood beautifully and got us a very nice, strong commercial polyurethane to help with the intense foot traffic we have with 3 children and 2 dogs. David (and Hugo) did an outstanding job repairing an engineered floor I had installed during a remodel 12 years ago. There were a couple of individual planks that had begun to lose their lamination (I think it's called lamination) plus an area upstairs of close to 40 square feet that had been heavily scratched and damaged by pets and required wholesale replacement. I didn't even think it was possible to selectively remove and replace flooring that worked that way. David gave a very fair price for the work and he (and Hugo), showed up each day on time and did the job right. He also showed me how to address a number of other scratches short of replacing the planks. I still have the cats, and I still have some more leftover planks from the original installation a dozen years ago, and if I need more work, I'm calling these guys. read more
