I had outdoor carpet installed and M&M was trying a new product. The carpet was fine, but the plastic sections that hold the carpet in place over the stairs was not good quality. Mike redid the whole installation (carpet included) without charging me extra. We had the carpet installed using a different manufacturer with a better product and I am very satisfied. I am aware that other companies would not have been accountable after the check was paid, but not M&M. Mike took accountability for an inferior product and redid the entire installation at no cost. Excellent experience when needing new floors in our old house. We chose engineered wood floors though M&M Custom flooring in Burbank. The owner Mike McMillan took the time to help with our decision. Then he stayed close to the job and met frequently with Obet, his foreman, and his crew, all of whom have been with Mike for at least 10 years. Early on it became obvious, especially in an older home, many on the job decisions have to be made literally on a daily basis. The whole crew had great attention to detail, worked hard, and were tidy and gentle with our house. Needless to say with this kind of professionalism every step of the way, we are extremely pleased with the outcome. Pros - made effort to find a solution to our floors and reasonable quote. Cons - poor communication, scheduling issues, unsatisfactory results Out of the flooring quotes we got, Mike seemed the most proactive and knowledgeable. However, it took several follow ups to get in touch after the emailed estimate to schedule the work. We had wanted to have the floors finished by the time we moved into the house but that did not happen despite scheduling our move a week past the estimated completion date. While we appreciate the effort to find the original matching floorboards (we had a box leftover so the make/finish was known) they had issues apparently with the distributor shipping them but failed to communicate any of that to us. After a couple days of no news and ripped up floorboards, I had to contact them consistently for updates. I'm not entirely confident it was the shipping company at fault. Finally, the floorboards came in a week later but unfortunately turned out to be the wrong ones that would not fit into our existing floor. They offered to custom miter each board to fit at no extra cost but it would take an additional day to complete. This was only frustrating since we had to move everything around the missing floorboards and wait to set up anything to make our space livable. After all was said in done, our floor has raised edges and a damaged splinter. We tried weighing down the raised boards to no avail and hope over time they settle. The wall near the largest work area was left covered in dust, dirt and glue splatters. I cannot attest to the level of work completed based on the difficulty of the flooring situation. Perhaps my displeasure at the situation forced them to rush the work which left us with our non-perfect results. But I do feel that better communication would have provided a better outcome. read more

They sent someone out to take measurements but he only walked around the top floor and didn't even take out his measuring tape. He was very short with me when speaking about getting a quote which I never received. Given the weird vibe... I didn't bother following up. The team brought my mom's solid red oak floors from crappy and beat up to its original beauty. They also extended new red oak to the kitchen since it had tiles before. Now the living room, dining room, and kitchen flow so much better. They were meticulous in every way. They showed up on time and worked for 5 days until the job was done. They also covered the cabinets with plastic since the refinish process was dusty, but they made sure that everything will be completely clean after they left. My experience with M&M Custom Flooring was exceptional from start to finish, and I can enthusiastically recommend them. If you're in the market for a new floor and you care about quality, this place NEEDS to be on your short list. I'm easily overwhelmed by choice. There were dozens of flooring contractors in my area, not to mention hundreds and hundreds of different floors to look at. But I had to start somewhere, and M&M was actually the first shop I happened to walk into. Luckily for me, the owner Mike was there, and for 15 minutes he sat down with me and answered all my questions. I walked out feeling a lot less confused about the whole thing. Over the next several weeks, I visited 5 or 6 different shops, talked to 3 or 4 different installers, saw more wood samples than I ever want to see again, and gathered a few quotes. In the end, my gut told me to go with Mike and M&M Flooring. They were not the cheapest quote, nor the most expensive. But more than anyone else I talked to, Mike inspired confidence in his honesty, his experience, and the pride he takes in his work. Also I have to say that his office staff was always very friendly to me, and I never felt rushed or pressured there. In the end, my gut was right. Mike and his team of installers went above and beyond my expectations. As a homeowner, it can be scary to leave an expensive project in the hands of total strangers. But on day one, it became obvious I had nothing to worry about. Mike is an artist and a perfectionist, and he demands that of his crew as well. They executed the job with a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that put my mind well at ease. Two days after the floor was complete, I noticed a few small spots that needed cleaning. After a different contractor botched the installation of my floors, I found M&M Custom Flooring and hired them to install hardwood and tile in my new home. Because of the bad experience we had with the other installer, my wife and I were a bit skittish when we first spoke to Mike and his team. They patiently went through all our concerns and helped us make good decisions on subflooring, layout, wood and tile varieties and assured us we would be pleased with the results. They were right. The floors looked incredible when they were first installed, and they remain incredible today in 2018. Many people comment on them, and we have not had a single problem. The team at M&M also continues to provide support after your installation. We had a minor accident (nobody hurt, completely our fault) which resulted in a small scuffmark. I called M&M, and they had someone stop by a few days later to replace that part of the floor. Nobody looking at it would be able to tell it was replaced. Just a bit background, got a new place & it needs new floors ASAP. we're thinking laminate on living spaces, & possibly carpet in bedrooms. However, this company provided 3 different quotes but ignored my requests. Quote Request: - Laminate Flooring in Dining Room, Hall and Loft. - Carpet everywhere else. - Additional cost of adding baseboards. I had doubts about restoring my old hickory wood floors. Not only was it badly stained and discolored, but part of it had been hiding under stinky carpet for a good long time. Not only did M & M come through on restoring it, they made it look better than I expected. They also did a good job with my kitchen. I wanted a crazy pattern of VCT and they did not blink an eye when they saw my sketch. They were on time and efficient. These guys did a fantastic job sanding down and refinishing my engineered hardwood floors and I was so pleasantly surprised as to how reasonable their service cost was. My former tenants really did a number on the engineered hardwood floors when they moved out- a multitude of deep and stained slashes all over the living room entry and dining room, large patches of exposed wood gouged and dented due to I don't know what. I thought for sure I was going to have remove the planks and install new flooring but they saved them and for less than what it would take to reinstall any cheap floor. I recently employed M & M Custom Flooring. I saw their work truck in the neighborhood and asked the residents about the company. They said they had not yet hired them, but they had found the company on Angie's list. Normally I research the credentials, however, this time I went on my gut feelings after I had spoke to Mike in person. In 1997, the carpeting was removed. I had the wood floors refinished (the house was built circa 1927). I wanted them done again. I was told by Mike of M & M that he could do it this time but the next time the floors would need to be replaced. He emailed his bid to me. I called Mike and accepted the bid and scheduled the work. The workers showed up as scheduled each day. They were very careful in moving the furniture. There were items that were not movable which they covered with plastic. They sanded, filled, stained and applied top coating a few times. When they were done, they put everything back as it was. They worked diligently--without a lot of talking, playing music nor cell phone usage. The job was completed in 4 days as stated at the price quoted. Because there was a small scratch made by a family member the day after the floor was done, I called Mike. He had one of his workers come back to take care of it. No big issue nor any charge. I had Mike and his team at M&M Flooring install new hardwood flooring in my master bedroom at the end of last year and the results are great. I had 3 companies bid for the job initially and Mike came in right in the middle. I've been burned on other work on my house in the past for going with the lower price and in this case, knew that this company was the right choice following my initial 2 meetings with Mike. He visited my house house for the initial estimate and then once after to make sure that we were ordering the correct material to match the rest of my house and was in contact by phone regularly also up to and during the work. He was super patient in working with me to make sure that the job was going to be right. The M&M installation crew did a great job, leveling my floor before installing the oak floor and then spending the best part of half a day mixing and mixing stain so that it was the best possible match to the rest of the floor in my home. This is a long due review. M&M flooring has been great with their work and customer service! I hired them to polish my hardwood flooring and they did a great job overall! I am a very detailed oriented person, and I saw they missed a few details on the first polish. I called Mike and explained the situation, he came right back that week to re-do the floor until I was satisfied. (He first tried to patch the problem, but that caused the floors to have uneven shade of coating, which made it more noticeable), they happily re-did the whole flooring the next day until I was truly satisfied with the results. This company really cares about their client's satisfaction and I would give more than 5 stars to Mike for getting the job done all over again up to my satisfaction.
