2nd visit. Make a reservation if you don't want to be stuck in a back corner by the restroom and ignored. It took over an hour to get our meals.

Tried Old Castle Restaurant yesterday and our family loved it! We went shortly after it opened and it wasn't busy yet but had fun music playing. We shared the pretzel appetizer and the schnitzel & dips. The medium pretzel was good for the 4 of us. The pretzel tasted freshly baked and the beer cheese was delicious. Thr schnitzel & dips were also great and we loved the honey mustard and orange garlic sauces. I got the chicken cordon Bleu which was a generous portion and frankly amazing. I paired it with the cheese spatzle which was like mac and cheese, and I don't usually like cabbage but the red apple cabbage was good! My husband declared the chicken schnitzel and French fries his favorite meal! I wish we had room for dessert because I'm sure it's wonderful too based on everything else we tried. The service was attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back!

This is my favorite place in Sun City Center. Quality food. Thirst quenching cold beer and superb service! Kat took care of me at the bar. She was awesome! I enjoyed the Goulash soup Chicken ala Papa with cheesy spaezle and my nice cold beer that wasn't exactly my beloved Kolsch but was close. They now have a big TV for Sports enjoyment. Just in time for FIFA.

So great. Fresh delicious foods. Great choices. I loved it. We had the goulash soup which was like a beef tortilla soup with just a bit of spice and was just delicious. Then my wife has the schnitzel salad and I had the schnitzel sandwich and we loved both. The bread was really fresh and tasty.

Post Covid-19 reopening and I'm so thankful to say the service and the menu selection was great. Our server was also very upbeat and friendly which added to our experience. We decided to choose meals off the lunch menu for this experience. We ordered the brat lunch special and the goulash dish. Both were hand made fresh for our dining experience. As expected great old world ambience with German flair.

The Good - nice cold German beer, Schnitzel , Kraut, Dumplings. The Meh - potato pancakes, Shepard Salad. Kind of a long wait for our meals. Ambiance was pretty cute even though I'm not a big fan of deer head trophy's. Sometimes there's live German accordion music, which is fun. Recommend!

Tucked away in a little strip mall next to Beals... is this little place, a rather authentic recreation of a German restaurant. There was some live music that was good but way too loud for the space, making conversation at the table difficult. Service was terrible - go with tons of patience because they are super slow to acknowledge you, take your order and to serve you. The were understaffed but it was hard to get a server's attention. The food - was excellent as was the beer. 5 stars for taste & 1 star for service.

I believe in giving second chances, so we tried this place again, after a two month break. They had the regular menu back and the food was excellent. The service was great. We enjoyed our meal.

Another great German meal! I recently learned that Old Castle was serving these Sauerkraut balls with beer cheese and Chicken Schnitzel with a spicy dragons breath sauce and again they didn't disappoint. We had a chance to speak to one of the kitchen staff who is very passionate about the details and ask about her favorites and are now looking forward to trying some beef rolls and goulash soup next time we visit. I also like that they have Hofbrau mini kegs and German fashion wear available for purchase. Highly Recommended! I plan to return again and again to try new things from the menu.

Generous servings, Goulash and Rouladen. The service was slow but food was very good.

Great atmosphere. Walked in and they had live entertainment (they have it on selected days. It isn't specify which days). Got seated fairly quick. Staff is are nice and friendly. Our waitress checked in on us and refilled our drinks often. Everything is made to order, so we came prepared to wait. My husband enjoyed the Scheiterhaufen/the Stake (3 bratwurst). I enjoyed my Chicken Schnitzel. We will can't wait to come back to try other items on their menu.

Will return for beer only. The decor is on the busy side. We walked in 10 minutes past their opening, and everyone seems asleep. As soon as we sat down, power went out in the area... and was restored 10 minutes later. 34oz beer is fresh and yummy, with robust head - not the artificial turf (per Dennis miller when he commented on a NFL's owner's hair in 2000). It reminds me of the beer gardens in Germany (female servers hold up 6 or 8 glasses...) and one in New York's Central Park. No pork knuckle offered on the menus. Food is mediocre. My lamb is dry. The part isn't covered by the gravy looks aged. String beans are mushy and sour. Potato is tasty. The goulash is ok.

Upon walking in, the impression is very authentic German. We were seated promptly although waitress thought we were with a party of 6 and it was just my husband & I. Seated us and we ordered drinks and shortly thereafter we ordered the food. It arrived quickly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience did not meet our expectations. The potato pancakes lacked flavor and were quite bland. The Wiener schnitzel was especially disappointing -- the veal was very difficult to cut, and the breading fell off almost immediately, causing the dish to fall apart. It did not feel like an authentic German preparation. The rouladen was just ok, lacking flavor also. We were quite surprised, particularly since the owner is from Berlin. It seemed clear that the owner is not the chef or directly involved in the kitchen. My husband is from Germany so we know what authentic German food is. On a positive note, the music was authentic and added a nice touch to the atmosphere, which we did enjoy.

My partner attempted to order the pork spatzle and was told they were out of it along with a few other dishes. The veal was incredibly tender, and the gravy was packed with flavor. It was a satisfying entrée that came with two sides. For my sides, I chose the pierogies and spätzle. The pierogies were honestly my favorite part of the meal. They were fluffy, cheesy, and generously filled. So delicious. I could have eaten a whole plate of just those. The spätzle was soft and well prepared, but compared to everything else, I found it a little boring. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a lot of character. I loved browsing the selection of German snacks, candy, and other imported items available for purchase. It added to the overall experience and made the place feel unique. While I'm not that familiar with German food, I thought this was a pretty good restaurant. I had such high hopes for this place. :( The selection is very limited and perhaps I missed something (entirely possible), but I did not see a price list for the deli case. We did find a unique assortment of other German products- some we haven't seen in many years. The restaurant portion was quite busy and the customers looked happy. We were flooded with nostalgia and left in hopes of dining in on a less-busy day. I ordered two meats, including the German bologna. During the drive home, my family and I noticed a terrible odor-- the kind where we started pointing fingers at one another. We never suspected that the package from the deli was the source. When we opened it at home, a nauseatingly funky, ammonia-type smell came from the German bologna. While the liverwurst smelled okay, I could not trust it after the bologna and decided against keeping it. Wasted time and money. Dang! The staff is super nice and that was truly a plus. However, I doubt we will be back. My family is very bummed over this.
