We met some out-of-state friends who are in Highlands Ranch for a horse show, and this was a great place as they have nice outdoor seating with choices on the menu that made everyone happy! The waitress was service-oriented and also friendly and funny. My family ordered a Caesar salad to share to begin and we couldn't believe the size! It was super fresh and delicious. Not overdressed either. The 3 of us didn't quite finish one salad. for the main course, we ordered the OBL Shrimp Po'Boy which was not the healthiest choice on my part, but I can't resist! The chile popcorn shrimp is both sweet and a tiny bit spicy. My only wish for this is that the baguette were a higher quality baguette. I ended up just eating the shrimp off the second half. Very crispy and delicious! The Ahi Tuna Sandwich is the way to go! It was perfectly seared and the rub was tasty without being overpowering. And we all enjoyed the truffle fries even though they weren't hot when we got them. We ordered two desserts: creme brulee and The Works. The Works had more going on (if you like banana then this dessert is for you). The creme brulee's flavor was fine but the texture was not smooth and creamy as a creme brulee should be - almost grainy. We would definitely go again - and since the horse show lasts several days, we just might do that! read more

I have been back a few times since my last review and every time has been a great experience. Most recently I organised a work dinner here and also had a great experience. Kathryn was helping me with the reservation and had everything sorted for me. Originally we had the back room booked which has an $800 minimum but when our party size dropped by almost half she was happy to move us into the restaurant and didn't charge us for the room. As it turns out, we got the room anyway, with no minimum because it was open and had extra tables in there, not just ours. I was a bit put off by the two young girls seating everyone, they wouldn't seat us till 1/2 our party had arrived even though the table was already ready for us. But I managed to get past that. We had a few appetizers to share, the pork taquitos, sweet and spicy shrimp, friend avocado and buffalo chicken flat bread. Highly recommend the last two. I had the lamb for my main and it was delicious, especially with bacon gnocchi and Brussels sprouts! And for 11 people, who all had a few drinks, the bill only came to $500. Winner! read more

I took out of town guests there for dinner Wednesday night. I've been there several times a year since they opened many years ago. The food is always consistently good but they have fallen out of bounds on their wine mark-ups. We ordered a bottle of Piattelli Reserve Malbec. It was $38 when this wine sells for $10.49. The traditional restaurant mark-up is 100%, OBL marks this up 345% (and you tip on that mark-up as well). I can't support egregious restaurants, that fleece their customers. This is a very nice restaurant in the Town Center in Highlands Ranch. I always go at lunch and sit at the bar. I like the shredded beef enchiladas with both the red enchilada sauce and the green chili, Christmas Style. The service is always good, and food is wonderful. read more

Old blinking light seems like a Texas style restaurant. All the food is very good and a little spicy. They have local taps, brunch, lunch, dinner and a full bar. My only issue is the attention to detail. For example the salt and pepper shakers are very dirty, half the light bulbs are out or missing in the bathroom and the staff is grumpy AF. The raspberry Mohito I had was delicious, they use a purée. Overall I would come here again but I would hope that they did a little cleanup. read more

OMG--WHAT A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE!!! :-) First time at Old Blinking Light and the place was packed and vibrant! Came to use a Groupon that was going to expire. We're greeted, checked in and seated right away-glad I made a reservation! Our server was Jenny and she was friendly, courteous, and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for anything!! For appetizers we ordered the sweet-and-spicy chile-dusted popcorn shrimp with chipotle aioli and honey, and the mahi-mahi ceviche served cold with peppers, avocado and chips. Both were so freaking good and the ceviche was the best I have had in Denver!! The portions were a very good size too. My daughter ordered the Achiote--and-citrus-marinated pork served over a chimichurri sauce with mashed potatoes and house vegetables. It was tender and delicious! It was such a huge portion it looked like she hadn't even made a dent in it. She had to take some home--now she has lunch for tomorrow. :-) I ordered the New Mexico red-chili-crusted salmon with cilantro green rice, calabacitas, pico de gallo, and lime and again, the portion was huge and it was also delicious. To end the meal, we had the OBL Mud Pie (oreo cookie crust stuffed with coffee ice cream and topped with oreo cookie crumbles, toasted walnuts, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry). The portion was HUGE!! I think four people could have eaten it and left the table satisfied. From start to finish it was great. We left the restaurant with a big smile on our faces. Even with the drive (I live close to Tamarac Square), I would come back, even without a coupon (and that is saying a lot!!). We went out for our anniversary dinner- my husband got the meatloaf and I got ribs. Both were mediocre unfortunately. The ribs were very overdone, I had to ask for a steak knife to cut each rib off, which even with a steak knife was difficult. I only ate half, my husband tried a bite and said it was like beef jerky and how did I even eat as much as I did. On the plus side the broccoli and mash potatoes were great! We let the server know and asked she tell the manager. The manager gave us 20% off the bill. Can't say that I was impressed and pretty sure I won't be coming back. read more

Arrived for a Saturday morning brunch. The dining room setting was a bit dark. Air conditioning came on part way through our visit which made it somewhat uncomfortable for early May. It took almost 45 minutes to receive our food after we ordered. My plate, chorizo biscuits and gravy, arrived barely above room temperature. The gravy had congealed and basically had the consistency of warm American cheese; I could actually lift up "gravy" and see the biscuit beneath. The biscuits were so hard it was difficult to cut them even with a knife. The side of fried potatoes was barely wam to the touch. The other meals in our group were satisfactorily warm, but I believe mine had been prepared early and set off to the side for most of our 45 minute wait. I got the waitress's attention, explained the situation, and sent the meal back. I told her I did not want a replacement. Not once did she apologize nor did a manager ever come to the table to inquire about my poor food. I will never go back to OBL. read more

We are from out of state visiting family in Highlands Ranch. We went to dinner at Old Blinking Light for dinner. Our food was so delicious. Our waitress was so pleasant and efficient. I very much appreciated that she asked if anyone had any food allergies that she should be aware of. I have food allergies and very much appreciate her making sure I was taken care of. We started with an appetizer of roasted beets. They were so good. They have a good variety of items on the menu so everyone can find something they like. The food is really good, the service is sometimes spotty. One time I pointed out an error between what they charged us and what was quoted on the menu and the waiter just shrugged it off and didn't offer to fix it (I pointed it out before he took my payment, so it wasn't even after he ran my card). He just acted like there was nothing he could do and like it was my fault there was a difference between their menu and my bill. That made me pretty upset and didn't really want to go back and spend so much money with them. Yes, it's pricey so we spend a lot of money to eat there and to quibble over a couple of dollars seems a bit insane. However, it was more his attitude that really irked me. read more

We were running errands in the area and thought we would check out the restaurants in the area. Yelp recommended Old Blinking Light. The waiter, Danny was fantastic! We ordered some soup and the chicken nachos. The green chili unfortunately delivered cold and was a thick goopy, tasteless mess so that was a surprise for a green chili! Even when re-heated it was like campbells condensed soup. The chicken nachos arrived with a light brown congealed paste on top that didnt seem to be cheese at all but had that consistency and no flavor. The chicken was cleverly hidden in this river of goo and each piece about the size of a pea. This nonsense was poured over top of a mound of chips, nothing beneath the first layer. That was it, nothing else on the nachos except for the pico we has asked for on the side. No jalapenos, nada! Truly, a bizarre experience that noone else should have to endure. Except for Danny of course who was delightful and fortunately we ordered tequila sodas or it would have been a complete loss. read more

We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. We had the salmon cakes, chili soup, and southwest salad as our appetizers, all of which were very good. The main courses were terrible. The chicken was dry and plain, the strip was a strange texture and very fatty, and the Mahi Mahi was flavorless and covered in a mango chutney that tasted like it came out of a can. Thankfully both desserts were excellent. The guacamole we ordered was never brought out, but it wasn't on the tab and probably wasn't any good anyway. Overall very disappointing. read more

Dined here with my fiancé tonight. Service was quick and cheerful. Food was fresh and yummy for the most part. Kitchen was super fast. Modern yet chicly rustic interior had a nice ambiance. We tried: Deviled eggs, not nearly as spicy as the menu had me thinking! These were "okay". Not too interesting or flavorful but not bland. One white was very firm and I didn't enjoy that, nor can I explain why it was like that. Brussel sprouts! Soooogood. I would get them again. Fiancé loved them too and he usually dislikes cooked brussel sprouts. I loved the crispy crunch and the balsamic glaze. Great together Fish n chips, fresh and hot fish under a mountain of great skin on, thick (but not wedges) fries! Fish was superb with lemon aioli and some of those Brussel sprouts from the app. Pulled pork and sweet potato fries were delicious. My pork was more chopped plus pulled which I was minutely disappointed by, but the meat was nice and lean. Sauce was rather bold. Nice quality pickles. The sweet potato fries were amazing with the smokey chipotle aioli! Fiancé had a Titan IPA draft and it was really nice he said. A friend and I stopped by quickly to grab a drink and a snack, so our visit was short and we didn't see much. I didn't see a Dirty Martini on the cocktail list but I ordered one and it was average. The Nachos had great toppings with a nice kick of spice but the chips got soggy pretty quickly. We sat on the patio and were able to see the mountains in the distance. Had dinner here last week for the first time. I was impressed! They had both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating was spaced well for social distancing if anyone is concerned. It appeared the wait staff was somewhat overwhelmed but they busted their butts to provide excellent customer service. Loved the Oven-Roasted Beets as a starter so I would recommend. The King Ranch Casserole was good if you like enchiladas. The favorite at the table was the gluten free BBQ chicken pizza. We liked it so much we ordered another one to have some leftovers for home.
