Went for dinner, Friday, Nov. 4th. Guac & chips appetizer was very good, as was the house Marg. My dinner, King Ranch Chile Enchiladas was only OK. The rice and beans were good. Cheese filling in the enchiladas was lacking and generally tasted like a bunch of tortilla dough. Dessert of Bourbon Vanilla Bread Budding was only ok also. Definitely lacked sauce. For a great version of this, check out Smoking Fins' bread pudding. Even adding half the amount of sauce that they use would be an improvement. Overall great atmosphere and wait staff. We'll be back. I came here on a Friday evening and waited more than an hour for a table of 2 even tho they had lots of tables open (reservation no shows?) My frienD and I split 2 dishes: Po Boy with truffle fries: this was just average. Sauce waS ok. Nice variety in the menu and great service. Our party of six was in and out in about an hour. I had the halibut, which was the special, and it was really good in a light butter caper sauce on rice with asparagus. Our table also enjoyed the blackened shrimp Caesar, the NY strip, ceviche, southwest pizza and tacos. Everything was tasty and fresh. The food is excellent and the atmosphere delightful. We were a party of 4 and all of us really enjoyed dinner and desert! The service was quick and efficient as well. I asked for a manager and the Owner came to our table. I had a suggestion that would benefit future customers. I am always impressed with OBL's food and service. It maybe slightly higher than some other places near by --- but the creative menu makes it worth it. Ingredients taste fresh and portions are generous. If you get the chance, I highly recommend their Happy Hour. The prices are dirt cheap for incredible food. That said, get there early as seats tend to disappear. read more

My wife and I had dinner there last night. The service was pretty good until near the end they kind of forgot us, but overall good. The food was not so good though. The pork chop was tough and definitely overlooked, and the fish tacos were super fishy and just tasted way off. They usually do a better job, yet the fish tacos seem to keep getting worse, I think the chop was just overcooked. read more

What has happened to OBL? It was once the hottest restaurant in Highlands Ranch by a landslide. The toughest part was getting in. Recently they decided to change things up and raised drink prices significantly. It is not longer difficult to get in. The biggest beneficiaries have been the new restaurants that have opened. Excellent indoor ambience, also very pleasant patio. Service was slower and less attentive than we preferred but when our server came around, she was friendly and provided what we needed. 1st and last time we will ever get food from Old Blinking Light in HR. Fish tacos were SO bad when my husband got home it made the entire house stink. I mean had to have been slimey and rotten before they were "seared". HR salad didn't have half the ingredients it had listed on the door dash menu and then had a few extras as well as some stray ingredients obviously from the salad prep area getting dirty/messy. Brussels Sprouts were DISGUSTING, goopy, balsamic was sour and not reduced, I don't know how someone could make them that texture unless they were rotten before cook too. GROSS. read more

Went to the Oktoberfest and wanted to sit in an actual restaurant. Though the Oktoberfest was fun :). Man, this place was crowded. we got a seat in the bar area and were taken care of promptly. Let me say this first. Our server was AWESOME. I don't remember his name, but man this young man ran his butt off to take care of the masses of people that came in. The house mojito was sooooo good!!! The food was good but I wouldn't say the highlight. I really liked the out door seating. There's a nice half circle fire pit. I used to work near this place and had never gone in for lunch or after work. It always looked great, especially with the fire on the patio. Lately it seems like this ends up being a great meeting spot for me and friends, and so we've been here a few times. Staff is always friendly. There is a large bar area which we've done with our group and enjoyed, but the dining area is just as nice as well. Good vibe here, and staff are really on the ball. I had the shrimp appetizer which was very good, a little kick. I had wanted to try the butternut squash soup, but decided not to order it. It came out in a reasonable amount of time and was really good. Then we waited ......and waited.....about 40 minutes.... Our server came by and asked if we were ready for dessert. We said that we were still waiting for our burgers. I ordered the B.L.A.T. with chicken. It had bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato. It was okay. The fries were little pieces. I visited a restaurant called the Old Blinking Light in Highlands Ranch on Dorchester Road. They have an eclectic menu but you can smell the delicious aroma the minute you walk in there. They had decent "happy hour" margaritas when we showed up. Can't complain. But my friends and I ordered our meal. Mine was the "Filet Au Poivre" which was a nice tenderloin with mushroom sauce and a generous portion of mashed potatoes. My friend ordered "duck tacos" what that is obviously pulled duck served on a corn tortilla with soy and sake sauce mixed in with coleslaw. It looked delicious!! This place is more Southwestern style food - so for folks like you that like that - I'd give it five stars. Enjoy yourselves. The food was delicious!! No complaints. But the service - that's another story. They need to hire more people. For a restaurant like this - you shouldn't have to wait so long. My friend and I and another couple were the only ones there. We yelped this place last night in our search for a tasty meal and we were not disappointed. Although there was a bit of a wait we were waited on almost immediately after being seated. We ordered a variety of dishes including a Mac & Cheese, pulled pork sand which, a burger and the ribs which my husband ordered. He substituted the brussel sprout leaves for fries and thankfully so as they were some of the most flavorful he's ever had!! My pulled pork sandwich was equally tasty with a generous amount of sauce on the meat which caused the bottom bun to become supersaturated however; a combination of the sauce and the temperature of the pork which caused the bread to turn to mush but perhaps that is a Fairly common issue with any kind of hot sandwich. My friend ordered the four cheese mac & cheese and it was very very well done! They used a ziti noodle which was a wonderful vehicle for a very tasty, cheesy sauce. Her husband got a burger and by the time I looked over to see if he was enjoying it it was almost completely gone! We ordered a stacked cinnamon apple dessert for the table and it too disappeared rather quickly! 0BL was an awesome choice for dinner and we would highly recommend it. There's a very strong possibility we will return here when we move to Denver in a few weeks. read more

The Good - Food and Service. The Bad - Too noisy to hold a conversation The Ugly - Wanted to charge me $2.00 for ice in my bourbon (not mentioned in the happy hour menu). I could just have taken ice from the water glass. Complained to server who said it's just a charge they add when you ask for ice. I said I wanted to speak to the manager - manager waived the $2 without coming to the table. We had some friends in from Chicago and we were showing them around town. After leaving Red Rocks, we were trying to think of a place to have lunch, and Old Blinking Light came to mind. We were seated on the patio on a beautiful day. I glanced over the menu and settled on the stacked enchiladas and added grilled chicken. I honestly just expected the usual chicken enchiladas. Boy was I surprised when this beautiful dish arrived in front of me and looked almost too delicious to eat. I jumped in and my mouth was even watering as I was consuming it. I couldn't eat it all because it was a very large portion, but I was very happy to get a to go box for the rest. It was amazing!! Even the leftovers were amazing!
