    Green chile plate
    Andrea K.

We are so excited to have this place close. It's not THE best, but it's good and geographically ideal for us. The house margs are great and $8.50 regularly priced. I think they're 7 on happy hour, but that's only weekdays 3-6. We've come a few times. The nachos are substantial and can feed 2 people. The green chile plate is excellent. We also love the #7 combo plate. The raja enchilada is so tasty! Chips and salsa are free (thank you!) and the salsa is delicious! Service is always friendly no matter where you sit and it's a nice atmosphere- like you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant! We will be regulars here.

Virgin Prickly Pear Margarita... so nice of them to make it!

Our new favorite Mexican place! So good! The sauces were authentic and full of flavor! The servers all spoke Spanish which was nice. Better than Duolingo! . You could tell nothing came from a can. Friendly service and delicious food! They even made a virgin prickly pear margarita for me, a non-drinker. Great service! We will 100% be returning soon!

Just love this neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Great food selection. Great margaritas, great ambiace, great service. I love the #1 combo with a chili relleno, shredded beef burrito and cheese enchilada. Caution they charge 2.99 for rice and beans. Awesome nachos btw.

The breakfast burrito was great! I got mine smothered and I was super satisfied with my decision. The margaritas on the other hand were not good at all. Worst choice on the menu. The bathroom was also interesting, it was like walking into an actual toilet in Mexico. There was an underlying almost fish smell covered by a very healthy amount of bleach; also it was far more humid in the bathroom than it was in the restaurant. It was like it was a different location all together. I would come back for the breakfast burrito but I don't think I would do dinner here again. I like a nice margarita with my food and this one was not good at all. For the food I think you should come try for yourself; you will like it. If you want beers, they are cold enough to get the job done but the margaritas will keep me away. We were also sitting at a table that had a saddle as decoration and while it was a legit authentic saddle which is cool, it also took up a decent amount of the space directly in front of my face.

We were immediately sat on the patio around 5:45 PM. We were greeted and given "welcome bubbles". What a nice touch. After about 5 minutes, we were finally given menus. Other people were sat around us, so we waited to ask for the happy hour menu. We ordered the chef's choice charcuterie, a cocktail, and a glass of wine. The drinks and board were yum, but not quite a wine bar as there were very limited option by the glass. Also, we had to ask for plates and silverware where this is a basic item. While deciding on dinner, we were approached a couple times by the 2 servers in the section. One was friendly, the other, not so much, rather indifferent and made us feel a little uncomfortable and not very welcome. This kind of set the tone for the rest of our night. We ordered the "family share" chateaubriand. We realize this is an expensive cut, but the portion is definitely not a sharing cut, around 4 oz. It is closer to a single entree. When it arrived, the plate was cold, like the meat was lukewarm and the cauliflower was ice cold. Again, we had to ask for silverware and plates for this "family style shareable" plate. We brought the cauliflower temperature up with the server and got new cauliflower after we were done with the rest of the meal. Also, I sat with an empty wine glass and no one stopped to ask if I needed another glass. When the servers did stop by, it was a short interaction and we never even had a chance to ask before they were already walking away. We saw so many people come in and out that they must be doing something right, but for us, our experience was mediocre. If our meal would have been the correct temperature (it was well prepared, just cold) and better execution on the service, we may have had a better experience.

The appetizers alone are worth the visit, do not skip the spicy tuna crispy rice cakes (perfectly balanced with just the right kick), the edamame (simple but elevated), and the hamachi, which was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. I am still dreaming about that spicy tuna crispy rice cakes!!! The cocktail menu deserves its own spotlight. The rosé spritz was light, refreshing, and dangerously easy to sip, while the margaritas were perfectly crafted and bright, balanced, not overly sweet. Cocktail presentation was A+! The Tajin rim on the margs...next level. For the main course, the salmon was nothing short of perfection, cooked flawlessly and paired with the not-to-be-missed cilantro lime rice, which honestly deserves its own fan club. Absolute chef's kiss. And let's talk sushi, because wow. The mango tango roll was vibrant and flavorful, the torched salmon roll melted in your mouth, and the atomic roll brought just the right amount of heat. Each roll was as beautiful as it was delicious!! Our only regret? Not saving room for dessert. Apparently, the bread pudding is the talk of the town, and after everything else we experienced, we have zero doubt it's as incredible as everyone says. And within the last few years they redid their dessert menu which upped their game even more. Specifically my husband, daughter and I went here for my husband's birthday recently and it was as good as ever. I always get the blackened catfish. They used to serve it with dirty rice, so I like to add an extra side of this. The red beans and rice that they currently serve it with are delicious, but I don't feel the flavors pair as nicely with the blackened catfish. My husband always orders the chopped salad with fried crawfish. He likes it with the creamy vinaigrette it comes with AND blue cheese dressing. Our waiter accidentally put in an order for a Cobb Salad instead of the Chopped, so when he brought it out we were confused at first. Then we all realized the mistake. He let my husband keep the Cobb while the kitchen hurried to make him his Chopped that he ordered. I've never had their Cobb Salad before but it was really good! The dressing they serve it with tastes a little like a Russian or Catalina dressing, but leveled up--it is delicious. I still prefer the Chopped salad, but the Cobb was still very good. My main complaint is that it's served deconstructed. My daughter got the Pasta Mardi Gras. It was very good too. She realized half way through that there was a lot more sauce on the bottom, so make sure to mix it up well to get all the flavor. My daughter ordered a strawberry lemonade and it was very tasty. HOWEVER, they filled the glass to the brim with ice, so there wasn't a lot of strawberry lemonade in the glass. When she ordered a refill (which you pay a discounted price for) we commented on how much ice there was in the first one and the waiter agreed there was too much and ordered light ice for the refill. I suggest you do this from the beginning. For my husband's complimentary birthday dessert, he ordered the crème brûlée and it was honestly one of the best I've had anywhere. I usually order the key lime pie for dessert here, which is amazing. The one thing I feel they should improve on is the complimentary bread they serve as an appetizer. It tastes like the bread you pay a dollar a loaf for at Walmart. Come on Pappadeaux, you can do better than that! How about bread and dipping sauce along the lines of Carrabbas? Maybe with a Cajun bent to the dipping sauce? That would be more in line with the quality of your food.

It's definitely giving date night energy: low lighting, candlelit tables, and a cozy-but-busy atmosphere. Every time I've gone it's been pretty packed, but I've never had trouble snagging a seat (and I never make reservations). Honestly, it's become my go-to for a solo night--cocktail in hand, spicy book in the other. My routine? Friday nights. I settle in with my book, order the Thai calamari (which has the perfect punch of flavor), and wait for the 9pm special--$0.99 oysters until close on Fridays and Saturdays. Such a steal. The servers are always great, but Chris really stands out--attentive, kind, and totally gets the vibe of letting me relax and enjoy my drink and my book. I also came during Denver Restaurant Week and did their 3-course menu: calamari (obviously), the sea bass (which surprised me in the best way), and the blood orange olive oil cake... WOW.
