The queso looked like it had been heated up in the microwave. It was served in a soup bowl with a soup spoon. My michalada was 80% tomato juice/spices. My recent visit to Real de Minas was really disappointing. I took my friend there for lunch because she was craving chilaquiles, and I remembered this being a place that served really good ones. Unfortunately, I immediately regretted recommending it when our food arrived. I understand that chilaquiles are made with fried tortillas, but it was obvious that no effort was made to drain the excess oil after frying them. Both of our plates were literally swimming in oil. Every time my friend pressed her fork into the food, oil would seep out, and whenever I picked up a bite, oil would drip from my fork. It completely overwhelmed the dish and made it difficult to enjoy. read more

Sunday evening, we made a delivery order, through UberEats, from your 15795 East Briarwood Circle location. We ordered 3 meals. Unfortunately, it turned out that only 2 of the meals was handed over to the UberEats driver for delivery. Again, this was an error on the part of the restaurant, not the driver. We called your restaurant (around 5:15pm) to explain the problem and was told that the item (Chile Relleno) was sitting right there. We were told that we could come pick it up, but again, we paid for delivery and expected delivery. We were finally put through to a manager who was extremely rude to us. He told us that since the order was delivered by UberEats, we could either call UberEats to schedule one of their drivers to come back to the restaurant to pick up the item, or come pick it up ourselves. Again, we paid for delivery, so in all fairness, we expect the item to be delivered. Trying to call UberEats (which we could not find a direct number to) to schedule another driver would take a lot of time before the item could be delivered. Plus, by that time, the other family member would have already eaten, forcing the lone family member to eat by themselves, or wait and have the first 2 items get cold. Plus, we had no trust that the Chile Rellenos would arrive fresh and hot either. Rather than admit the mistake was on the part of his staff and find someone to quickly deliver the item to us, he simply hung up on us. Up to now, we've enjoyed Real de Minas, and thought of your restaurant as a quality establishment. This makes us rethink that. If this is the kind of management personnel you employ, that is a sad state of affairs. Since we couldn't easily quickly find a number for UberEats, assuming we even bothered to have a totally disjointed dinner together, we applied for a refund for the item. Unfortunately though, that meant no dinner for one of our family. Having that small refund for the trashy way the manager treated us though is simply not acceptable. We came here again last night, my same girl friend from our first time here over a year ago, and the food was unfortunately not as good as I remember. I ordered the combo with a chicken chimichanga (which was not as good as the Mexican restaurant near my house), a ground beef enchilada, a pork tamale (no other meat options existed), and a crunchy chile relleno. All was just ok. Then we ordered the dessert, which was truly terrible. The churros were dense and hard, not fluffy and light. And my cheesecake dessert - that our server recommended as the best, and better than the dulce de leche that I wanted - was so bad that I ate one bite, then stopped and didn't eat the rest. My husband and I were anxiously waiting for this restaurant to open. We were excited to try a new restaurant. They were great greeting you at the door and seating you. Once we were seated all customer service ended. Our waiter took forever to come take a drink order. I literally had to stare him down. He was at the back of the restaurant with three waitresses flirting hugging and laughing with them. He remained at the back of the restaurant the whole time we were there. It appeared he was more focused on where he was putting his tip that night as opposed to earning a tip. The waitresses would come and go to wait on their tables but he stayed there waiting for them to come back. Took forever for him to come back to get our food order. I ordered a margarita, it was the worst margarita I ever had! The mix they made it with was extremely watered down. It tasted like they served me a glass of water with a splash of tequila in it. When the food came out he forgot my sour cream and guacamole. It took another 10 minutes for me to get his attention to ask for it. We asked for more napkins, he forgot and I again had to flag him down to ask for them again. He never came to proactively check if we needed anything. Once the check came he was done! In the past I have really enjoyed my experiences at Real De Minas! I typically visit the other locations in Montbello and Aurora. I wasn't very impressed with the food or service at this Real De Mina's. I had the Pollo Poblano and it wasn't very flavorful. It was one of those "oh ok" meals. Everyone else in our patty said their food was just ok. While I service was ok, we asked several times for more chips/salsa and everytime we asked we were asked by the waiter if we were "ready to order". I asked that the mole sauce be put on the side. I knew my husband wouldn't eat the sauce. The waitress said the chef cannot make it that way. REALLY? If the chef can pour 2 cups of mole sauce on the enchiladas, surely he can pour it into a container! Service is pure crap but at least their food is delicious. I rather go to Los Dos Potrillos for so many reasons. Ambiance is not appealing either. When you walk in, they'll just stare you down. No smile, no greeting, nothing. I would still go in a pinch but definitely not bringing any friends or out of town guests here that's for sure. I rather drive the distance to anywhere else. When you arrive you will be immediately judged. They put all the non-Hispanic customers in the small room by the hostess stand and fill that room first before filling the main dining room. On the flip side and already mentioned, their food is fantastic and always served hot and yummy. Even their chips and salsa are great. I have never had a bad plate of food. Just have to wait 10+ minutes for any drink orders and their disdain shows when you just order water. Your level of service goes down and you will have to wait even longer for any refills, to-go boxes or even your final receipt. I have been with friends, out of town guests and even solo. All those visits have been less than desirable. People keep returning for the food and that's it. We have come here for over a year now. Really thought it was the best over Los Dos. Well we were wrong. Bartender was doing multiple shots with guests at the. At not taking our order. This was the first part. Then came the PUKE in the garbage can behind the bar. Told the manager and he said we could leave. So we did. We will not return. Good salsa and good chips. When we did order food, we selected an order of the queso fundido with jalapenos which were almost too hot to eat. Despite its cryptic name (at least to a non-Mexican/non-Spanish speaker), this is a standard sit down/menus/table salsa/waiter type of Mexican restaurant... on the surface level. Upon closer inspection, there are several things that differentiate this establishment from the rest of them. Let me just say, as a die-hard and life-long Los Dos Portrillos customer, I'd consider this place to be in extremely heated competition with them. They do first impressions well. The table salsa is delicious and spicy, in the running for top 3 in the state. They also give you this bowl of cabbage/imitation crab/chipotle mayo that is delicious and you wouldn't find anywhere else. The drink menu is huge, they have a large list of beer, cocktails, flights... whatever you want to drink, they have it here. Their food menu is huge as well, but the unique thing it has is authentic Mexican staples like aguachille, tripa, buche, lengua, barbacoa and a ton more I'm not remembering. In fact, I ordered the barbacoa smothered burrito and it was hands down the best burrito I've had in Colorado. The meat in the barbacoa was so soft, tender, flavorful... it was a real barbacoa. My advice to everyone at Mexican restaurants like this is to always stick with the chicken or beef burritos/chimichangas/enchiladas. But the menu here really pushes the seafood hard on you. So we went outside our normal routine and got aguachille and seafood enchiladas. And compared to other places the seafood was quite good, but not amazing. The aguachille was flavorful but a little mushy, probably should cooked in the lime juice for a few more hours. There is much better aguachille to be found in Denver. The seafood enchiladas reminded me a lot of clam chowder with the white sauce and generic fish taste. Both seafood dishes were good, but would I get them again, probably not. Definitely better seafood than Los Dos though. So, skip the seafood, go for the barbacoa, go for the drinks, you'll be set here. The vibe is also high energy. It's loud in here as they play modern urban music instead of the generic mariachi. The service is also great, very on top of things and always asking to refill the salsa bowl. Let me start by saying that I have eaten in this restaurant many times over the years with good food and excellent service, I had dinner there last night and the food, at best was adequate. I ordered a steak burrito and a diet coke. He (the owner) brought me a can of diet coke and told me the fountain drink machine was out of order. These things happen. I understand that. The food arrived and fhe meat was so tough that it was very hard to chew. There was so many onions in the burrito that taste wad horrible. I took all of the onions out of the burrito and there was actually more onions that meat. The taste of the food was highly compromised by using so many onions. The waitress came by and asked about the meal. I showed her the massive number of onions, and she agreed there were to many onions. When she gave me the bill I noticed on the receipt that it said steak burrito WELL DONE. I never said anything when ordering about it being well done. I went to pay the bill and told the owner about the massive number of onions, and that it actually ruined the dish. He told me there was at least 8 ounces of meat and I told him there was not a half pound of steak in the burrito. He told me "That's the way it comes", and then said cash or charge. Remember that 12 ounce can of diet coke, well they charged be $3.99 plus tax. That would make a 6 pack of coke $24.00. I questioned him about the $4.00 can of coke, he replied with "cash or charge". He was extremely arrogant and totally disrespectful to me. I will never go back to that place again, and I will share this experience all that will listen. I'm sure losing a frequent customer won't make or break him, but he was a JERK and would not take anything off of the bill. As little as $5.00 would have make me happy and I would return. Some of the key benefits are that the service is super quick, and you'll find that the food comes out to you faster than you'd expect for a restaurant of this size. Additionally, the prices are super reasonable and you get a good amount of food! My only gripe is that it's not anything special -- Real De Minas is good, but not great. You'll find more interesting options than you would at a Chipotle, but still less flavorful than you would at a more authentic hole-in-the-wall joint. Busy location in a very busy shopping area at Parker and Arapahoe. The atmosphere is great, the bar area with the garage style doors were open, which gives an outdoor eating vibe. The chips and salsa are a nice pre-meal snack, a traditional tomato restaurant style and a creamy slaw style, with some nice heat to them, not real spicy, just a little kick. (unfortunately we found a hair in the slaw one, which trying not to dwell on, not ideal, but know it happens). We got the Pollos Real De Mina and Pollo Poblano, the entrees were good, large portion sizes, but bland, lacked flavor. These are over $20 a plate, charging these prices I would expect a better quality. The staff were friendly, but service was average, they never checked on us to refill our drinks, which would have been nice. We have been to this location many times. When it first opened, service and food were better and definitely seemed cleaner, (was not dirty, but not super clean, tables chairs a bit sticky, the bathroom was clean though). A local favorite with our Denver friends, they were eager to share Real de Mina with us. With good weather, they opened the "garage doors" creating a great indoor/outdoor experience, extending the restaurant into the outdoor patio. They served an interesting cabbage / crab meat dip with the salsa. It was delicious. The restaurant was busy but our waiter did a good job taking care of us. Wanting comfort food, I went with the Enchiladas with ground beef. Far from exotic, the dish was still prepared to perfection. The Spanish Rice was light and fluffy. The beans were warm with just the right amount of cheese. The tortillas for my Enchiladas were soft and flavorful. The ground beef was seasoned to perfection.
