A nice and convenient local strip mall Mexican joint that's well decorated in a typical Mexican restaurant manner. Customer murals don the walls and even the chairs have interesting paintings on them. I ordered the asada burrito and what came was a first for me. It literally only had carne asada in it, and it was awesome! Also smothered in a delicious green chili, tomatoes, and lettuce. It was one of the better smothered burritos I've had in a few years. If you're hankering for some traditional Mexican food then stop by El Karajo and take in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. read more

We have eaten at those locations many times and love this place. The food is great. The margaritas are really great. They're so nice to us, even when mom had her 90th birthday they helped us gently celebrate with a big hat and a dessert with a candle. Wow - I don't know if it is a function of being a woman alone in a bar or if the service has really gone downhill? I used to come here all the time and the service was fantastic - not today (again). I went to the bar at 5pm - ordered a Happy Hour house margarita. Was never offered complimentary chips and salsa or a Happy Hour menu nor was I ever asked if I wanted to order food. I didn't being it up because I wanted to see how long it would go... It went the entire Hour I was there. I was actually planning to order food but skipped it because I felt ignored. They were servicing all of the groups around me so it wasn't a staffing issue. They would take an order from the people next to me and then skip right past me. This used to be my favorite place for Happy Hour but this might be my last visit. Maybe if I brought a bunch of friends they might pay more attention. At this point I wouldn't bring my friends back in case we got the same bad service. They should have thought about that. read more

Fan-freaking-tastic. This place is a hidden gem. Edith was our server, and she was very personable. Food was 10/10. The margs are...well..."the best in town", and they live up to the name. I got the cucumber one and the boyfriend got the house, but I suggest ordering the Karajo marg, as Edith let us try it. Woweeewow, very nice! I will be back. I got the fajita burrito and it was bomb! Score is higher then a 3 but not quite a 4. Busy but seating quickly. Typical Mexican decor but really loud, almost couldn't hear taking across a booth. Wife had shrimp fajitas, said the were good. I had a combo plate. Best of 3 was chile relleno. Everything could have used a little more seasoning, rice and beans didn't come with the combo plate- never seen them not part of the plate. Overall good. Solid pricing. Will return, but still looking for our go-to Mexican place. This will be on a short list. read more

Fun dinner at El Karajo, our first visit. We went about 5 pm on Saturday, and had our pick of tables, but by 6 pm the space was jammed. Prices are reasonable, and service was very good. Food is beyond typical TexMex, with an extensive menu of "from scratch" dishes. Chips and salsa (spicy!) are complementary, and we also ordered guacamole. I enjoyed the enchiladas poblanos (but they could have benefitted from more sauce). My dining companions had Combo #1 (a full plate of shredded beef burrito, cheese enchilada and crispy chili relleno) and a carnitas burrito with green chili. We all enjoyed black beans and "white rice." There are a number of shrimp and seafood options I want to try. This was a birthday dinner, so we ordered fried ice cream, which was large enough for 3. The celebrant also was given a lovely slice of chocolate cake, and a Happy Birthday serenade as she wore a gorgeous hat! We parked in the indicated handicapped spot, but it was not the correct size and had regular spots next to it. Had to back out before folks could get in the vehicle. Not good. We'll eat here again, though. For sure. read more

I was so excited when I got to try El Karajo in Centennial! I am always on the lookout for a great Mexican spot and El Karajo is an amazing option! The decor is like a Mexican Fiesta which is my favorite type of fiesta so you are immediately in for a fun afternoon since we went during their new brunch hours! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming too! what I ordered: we started with queso fundido with chorizo and flour tortillas, cielo, mar, y tierra molcajete, chilaquiles verdes, and churros. To drink we got the jarrito, el mar azul, the prickly pear margarita, and their house margarita. best bite: i love a good molcajete! They are new to me as I've never seen them in Mexico but it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Their cielo, mar, y tierra had chorizo, chicken, asada, shrimp, nopales, and cheese all on top of a salsa verde. What else do you need!? The churros were also a highlight for me! I didn't even need the chocolate sauce! The jarrito and the prickly pear margarita were my favorite drinks! I will definitely be going back to try more of their breakfast menu too! read more

I recently visited, but have there many times before over the past years. I ordered a House Margarita, which is a specialty drink they make. The service was extremely slow and the restaurant/bar was not busy. 15 minutes and no chips and salsa brought to the table. I had to flag someone down to get service. A watered down, flavorless margarita arrived eventually. Since I had had the House Marg before I opened the menu to see if what I had been delivered was the same one I had had many times before. The listing in the menu was the same, a traditional margarita with a Cointreau floater on top. I showed my waiter the menu listing and told him the Cointreau was definitely not in the drink he had given me. Unphased he told me that he picks and chooses who to give the margarita with Cointreau to. What????? He then said he would replace the flavorless margarita he first delivered for the real one. He also said that when I come in again he would give me the authentic one. What?????? He brought me another margarita which was the actual listed house margarita. When I got my check he had charged me $8.50 each for two margaritas. (He had told me they were $8) I paid for both and my meal, but I left the restaurant doubting I will visit again. I was dining alone and I doubt very much if I had been with a partner or friend this waiter who has worked there for years would have pulled what he did. Is what he did even legal?????? I wonder. I have dined there alone before and never experienced this before. But it was clear this man/waiter does this to customers all the time. read more

Just know that it's something that they need to work on for sure the ambience was great. The food was great, but the female hostess we had was absolutely horrible. This is the best mexican restaurant we have found in the Denver area We moved from Washington DC to Denver 10 years ago and expected to find great Mexican restaurants here like we found in DC with its many international favorites. But after experiencing many good mexican restaurants here, we had not found a great mexican restaurant. Until today. El Karajo is fabulous. My wife, the foodie was also equally impressed. Food quality was great. She had a Veggie Buritto and I had the amazing Fajitas Chimichanga. The La Karaja Magaritta was also very good. The chips were light and queso the right amount of slightly spicey. Great atmosphere, service, and food quality. You will not leave hungry and your senses will be delighted. We will come back even if it is a 30 minute drive from downtown. read more

Generally, it's good but it's hit and miss. They have a lovely patio, which I really enjoy.

Strong margaritas and good tacos! The servers are very quick to get orders in and don't stick around for conversation, but food and drinks are fairly quick to turn around. A very colorful restaurant interior that you would not expect from the front of the building. read more

Maybe it was a Friday night or maybe our Server was new but this place was not nearly as good as it has been. I have been there many times. My $9 house margarita was served in a small glass and just didn't taste all that good. I have had much better ones before. It was a Friday night but we had to ask for napkins and silver ware. My food was good but my friend ordered a beef burrito and when she received it, it was a folded over hamburger inside a tortilla??? She did send it back. I will try it again not on a Friday night and before six to see if it is better. I was disappointed. read more

First time at this restaurant and had lunch with a party of 6. Great lunch specials menu with prices at 11.00. Everything I had was very good. Great chips and salsa. Great chili relleno crispy. Great shredded beef burrito. The rice and refried beans were tasty as well. I only wish they would have smothered the burrito and relleno with more green chili. Maybe you have to ask for that. El Karajo has a great taco and marg special on Thursdays that we hit up most weeks. Everything on the menu that I've tried has been absolutely outstanding. I love sitting at the bar on the outside of their patio in the summer drinking one of their La Karaja margaritas. I would give them 6 stars if I could (and I would love if they added a chorizo taco to the menu). Their fajitas are outstanding, every time one of the servers walks by with a screaming hot plate of them my nose does a happy dance. read more

Pre COVID, I was on the hunt for the best Margarita in town. #Goals - am I right? Having passed by El Karajo a million times already, my husband and I opted for a date night out to sample the goods - and glad we did! Here's why: E = Excellent service! We stopped in on a Friday night and were immediately greeted by a friendly man, who ended up being our server. Despite having what felt like the entire dining room to cover himself, he checked back with us frequently, replenished our drinks and made great recommendations on entrees! The bartender and another server also stopped by, which made for a pleasant interaction. L = Lot parking only - which can pose a problem as the tiny lot fills up fast! However, the Safeway lot about 20 yards away allows for ample parking with just a quick walk. K = Killer specials! Happy hour daily from 3-6PM, 2 - for - 1 margaritas Monday through Friday (7-9PM), $1.50 street tacos on Thursday and more! Something different each day! A = Amazing menu! Literally pages full of deliciously hand crafted eats, makes it hard to choose just one thing! We started off with the complimentary chips and salsa, and ultimately decided on the fajita trio (steak, chicken and shrimp) for 2, but I was eyeing the delicious seafood eats! Everything was fresh, indulgent and totally hit the spot - YUM! Also offered - delicious breakfast burritos (Hand held breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, house potatoes and your choice of bacon, sausage or chorizo, with green chili inside), served daily for just $3.95! R = Radtastic bar offerings! We opted to try the house margarita, as the sign out front states it's the "Best Margarita in town"! While the margarita tasted a bit premixed (although they say it's made fresh each time) and tart, it complimented the food perfectly. Although small, the outdoor patio boasts enough room for small parties to soak up the sun or night air! Cute lights are strung creating an intimate environment! J = Jammin' vibes inside - as the space is lit up with colorful lights, walls and chairs, with tunes blaring from the speakers - creating a fun, party like environment and one I want to return to! O = Outstanding prices for the area! Our meal for two was $30, featured bell peppers, onions, 3 different types of meats and the fixin's which left plenty for the next day. The meal fit the bill! The taste of the food was so-so, it wasn't bad, the only problem is that there are places with food that has better flavor. The salsa tasted like picante sauce from the store with zero heat. Chips were a little greasy for my liking. I chose a combo plate so I could try a little of different items. Tostada, ground beef burrito, chicken enchilada and rice and beans. Rices and beans were ok and the red chili was actually pretty good, also my wife's chili relleno was my favorite part of the meal. It had just enough crisp to keep it from being soggy and the cheese was great. The service was also pretty mediocre; nothing fancy and the ambiance/feel of the place did not have anything that you wouldn't find in a regular Mexican restaurant. Take my advice and head somewhere tasty like Los dos in Parker or centennial. Or Casa Vallarta in aurora. read more

I realized the other day that this place has been here for quite a while, even through COVID, so it must have something going for it. It must, but I couldn't find it. The margs were way too sweet, nowhere near the best in town. The chips were slightly stale. The flatware was cheap, actually uncomfortable to hold. The ceviche tostada was very tasty, but the chicken chimi was basically flavorless chicken stuffed inside a fried burrito. Service and ambience were okay for a family sports bar sort of place, but the fit and finish were showing a fair amount of wear and tear. Overall an okay experience, but we've been to better Mexican restaurant experiences within a ten minute drive. I doubt we'll be back. read more

I've visited this location several times and enjoy them quite a bit. Service is pleasant although a bit slow even when there's not a crowd. The alcoholic drinks are pretty good, they have tasty food, a fantastic chicken taco with mango, and great chips and salsa. Last time they forgot my beans and rice to my combo but brought some out so I could put it in a to go box with my leftovers. I'd probably visit more often but they're a bit far from my neighborhood, so I definitely would recommend them to others. My husband and I love this place because they offer street tacos that are pretty reasonably priced for a sit down restaurant and many sit down Mexican establishments either over price their tacos or don't offer them at all. read more
