I was so excited when I got to try El Karajo in Centennial! I am always on the lookout for a great Mexican spot and El Karajo is an amazing option! The decor is like a Mexican Fiesta which is my favorite type of fiesta so you are immediately in for a fun afternoon since we went during their new brunch hours! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming too! what I ordered: we started with queso fundido with chorizo and flour tortillas, cielo, mar, y tierra molcajete, chilaquiles verdes, and churros. To drink we got the jarrito, el mar azul, the prickly pear margarita, and their house margarita. best bite: i love a good molcajete! They are new to me as I've never seen them in Mexico but it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Their cielo, mar, y tierra had chorizo, chicken, asada, shrimp, nopales, and cheese all on top of a salsa verde. What else do you need!? The churros were also a highlight for me! Fun dinner at El Karajo, our first visit. We went about 5 pm on Saturday, and had our pick of tables, but by 6 pm the space was jammed. Prices are reasonable, and service was very good. Food is beyond typical TexMex, with an extensive menu of "from scratch" dishes. Chips and salsa (spicy!) are complementary, and we also ordered guacamole. I enjoyed the enchiladas poblanos (but they could have benefitted from more sauce). My dining companions had Combo #1 (a full plate of shredded beef burrito, cheese enchilada and crispy chili relleno) and a carnitas burrito with green chili. We all enjoyed black beans and "white rice." There are a number of shrimp and seafood options I want to try. This was a birthday dinner, so we ordered fried ice cream, which was large enough for 3. The celebrant also was given a lovely slice of chocolate cake, and a Happy Birthday serenade as she wore a gorgeous hat! We parked in the indicated handicapped spot, but it was not the correct size and had regular spots next to it. Had to back out before folks could get in the vehicle. Not good. I had a combo plate. Best of 3 was chile relleno. Everything could have used a little more seasoning, rice and beans didn't come with the combo plate- never seen them not part of the plate. My $9 house margarita was served in a small glass and just didn't taste all that good. I have had much better ones before. It was a Friday night but we had to ask for napkins and silver ware. My food was good but my friend ordered a beef burrito and when she received it, it was a folded over hamburger inside a tortilla??? She did send it back. This is the best mexican restaurant we have found in the Denver area We moved from Washington DC to Denver 10 years ago and expected to find great Mexican restaurants here like we found in DC with its many international favorites. But after experiencing many good mexican restaurants here, we had not found a great mexican restaurant. Until today. El Karajo is fabulous. My wife, the foodie was also equally impressed. Food quality was great. She had a Veggie Buritto and I had the amazing Fajitas Chimichanga. The La Karaja Magaritta was also very good. The chips were light and queso the right amount of slightly spicey. Great atmosphere, service, and food quality. You will not leave hungry and your senses will be delighted. El Karajo has a great taco and marg special on Thursdays that we hit up most weeks. Everything on the menu that I've tried has been absolutely outstanding. I love sitting at the bar on the outside of their patio in the summer drinking one of their La Karaja margaritas. I would give them 6 stars if I could (and I would love if they added a chorizo taco to the menu). I have been coming here for years and it is my favorite place for Happy Hour - until this afternoon. The service at the bar has completely fallen off - different staff than I am used to seeing. Not sure if old staff went to the new location or ? but I might as well have been invisible. Almost got up and left. Old staff would have been checking in every 10 min. Took 15 min. to get served at a half-empty bar. Another 15 min to get bill. Staff completely unengaged with customers. Bullet in the armor - used to be great. The taste of the food was so-so, it wasn't bad, the only problem is that there are places with food that has better flavor. The salsa tasted like picante sauce from the store with zero heat. Chips were a little greasy for my liking. I chose a combo plate so I could try a little of different items. Tostada, ground beef burrito, chicken enchilada and rice and beans. Rices and beans were ok and the red chili was actually pretty good, also my wife's chili relleno was my favorite part of the meal. It had just enough crisp to keep it from being soggy and the cheese was great. The service was also pretty mediocre; nothing fancy and the ambiance/feel of the place did not have anything that you wouldn't find in a regular Mexican restaurant. Take my advice and head somewhere tasty like Los dos in Parker or centennial. Or Casa Vallarta in aurora. read more

Having passed by El Karajo a million times already, my husband and I opted for a date night out to sample the goods - and glad we did! Here's why: E = Excellent service! We stopped in on a Friday night and were immediately greeted by a friendly man, who ended up being our server. Despite having what felt like the entire dining room to cover himself, he checked back with us frequently, replenished our drinks and made great recommendations on entrees! The bartender and another server also stopped by, which made for a pleasant interaction. L = Lot parking only - which can pose a problem as the tiny lot fills up fast! However, the Safeway lot about 20 yards away allows for ample parking with just a quick walk. K = Killer specials! Happy hour daily from 3-6PM, 2 - for - 1 margaritas Monday through Friday (7-9PM), $1.50 street tacos on Thursday and more! Something different each day! A = Amazing menu! Literally pages full of deliciously hand crafted eats, makes it hard to choose just one thing! We started off with the complimentary chips and salsa, and ultimately decided on the fajita trio (steak, chicken and shrimp) for 2, but I was eyeing the delicious seafood eats! I realized the other day that this place has been here for quite a while, even through COVID, so it must have something going for it. It must, but I couldn't find it. The margs were way too sweet, nowhere near the best in town. The chips were slightly stale. The flatware was cheap, actually uncomfortable to hold. The ceviche tostada was very tasty, but the chicken chimi was basically flavorless chicken stuffed inside a fried burrito. Service and ambience were okay for a family sports bar sort of place, but the fit and finish were showing a fair amount of wear and tear. Overall an okay experience, but we've been to better Mexican restaurant experiences within a ten minute drive. I doubt we'll be back. read more
