    Quesadilla (happy hour size)

The food here was great, but I would really come back for the bright, colorful decor! Plus, the happy hour quesadilla was only $7, I love that deal! Service was fast and it was a nice atmosphere beyond the fun decor too.

Fan-freaking-tastic. This place is a hidden gem. Edith was our server, and she was very personable. Food was 10/10. The margs are...well..."the best in town", and they live up to the name. I got the cucumber one and the boyfriend got the house, but I suggest ordering the Karajo marg, as Edith let us try it. Woweeewow, very nice! I will be back. I got the fajita burrito and it was bomb! Boyfriend liked his shrimp and asada tacos.

Fun dinner at El Karajo, our first visit. We went about 5 pm on Saturday, and had our pick of tables, but by 6 pm the space was jammed. Prices are reasonable, and service was very good. Food is beyond typical TexMex, with an extensive menu of "from scratch" dishes. Chips and salsa (spicy!) are complementary, and we also ordered guacamole. I enjoyed the enchiladas poblanos (but they could have benefitted from more sauce). My dining companions had Combo #1 (a full plate of shredded beef burrito, cheese enchilada and crispy chili relleno) and a carnitas burrito with green chili. We all enjoyed black beans and "white rice." There are a number of shrimp and seafood options I want to try. This was a birthday dinner, so we ordered fried ice cream, which was large enough for 3. The celebrant also was given a lovely slice of chocolate cake, and a Happy Birthday serenade as she wore a gorgeous hat! We parked in the indicated handicapped spot, but it was not the correct size and had regular spots next to it. Had to back out before folks could get in the vehicle. Not good. We'll eat here again, though. For sure.

Shrimp fajitas, #5 combo plate with rice/brans,

Score is higher then a 3 but not quite a 4. Busy but seating quickly. Typical Mexican decor but really loud, almost couldn't hear taking across a booth. Wife had shrimp fajitas, said the were good. I had a combo plate. Best of 3 was chile relleno. Everything could have used a little more seasoning, rice and beans didn't come with the combo plate- never seen them not part of the plate. Overall good. Solid pricing. Will return, but still looking for our go-to Mexican place. This will be on a short list.

My favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Centennial! The food, service and ambiance are always consistently amazing! Highly recommend

Generally, it's good but it's hit and miss. They have a lovely patio, which I really enjoy.

Ask the Community - El Karajo Mexican Restaurant

What is the parking situation like? I’ve driven by and it seems there’s never anyplace to park.

Parking is scant right in front of the restaurant, but there is a large lot adjoining.

    Are there gluten free options?

Yes! I am gluten free and had the queso, the salsa and the blue corn chicken enchiladas!

Ok, back to what you care about, their Happy Hour. For two people we got an Americano Taco, Nachos w/ Chicken, Guacamole, ceviche, and margaritas. The margaritas, for being at a Mexican restaurant, were passable. The mango margarita tasted a little like mango, like a Lacroix version of a mango margarita. This was the least enticing of what we ordered. The Americano Taco was a classic white person taco. Hard shell. Ground beef. Nothing too crazy. It was a taco. The ceviche had delicious plantain chips, which I love, to accompany it and the striped bass. In addition there was pineapple and sweet potato. My problem with the ceviche was that there wasn't a lot of fish in it. The guacamole was well mixed and flavored. Served with potato tortilla chips was nice and they were nice and salty. The best part, the nachos with cochinita pibil were flavorful, filling, and cheesy. I was the most happy with the nachos choice for HH so if you're looking for a good happy hour deal come for the nachos.

Chips/guac were pretty good, but they didn't give us enough guac to match the serving of chips. They also make their own chips, and she said they're supposed to have a floral note, but tbh I wasn't getting much of that. No big deal. Pescado frito tacos were delicious, but I absolutely hate when restaurants pile the ingredients really high in the center of the taco. I guess they do it for presentation, but it's so impractical, and a pain to eat. I tried spreading it out to the sides, but I shouldn't need to do that in the first place; I should just be able to enjoy my food. Everything was inevitably spilling out, and it just wasn't a great experience. Tres leches cake was great. No gripes there. Peach mocktail was extremely sharp; I tasted way more lemon than anything fruity. Ambience is quite nice and comforting. Good view upstairs too.

In the old days, you would have a long waitlist for a table. Not anymore. We were one of four or five tables. First, the good: our waitress was very attentive and kind. Everything about the food and drinks was disappointing. The margaritas were bland and tasted like an orange slice. The menu was limited, and a lot of the entrees were gone. The guacamole was runny, and the salsa was bland. Of our three entrees, the only one that was at least warm was the fajitas, I suspect from the sizzling plate. The rice tasted like it was days old.
