The space is airy and clean and service was efficient and friendly. They have a great selection of lunch specials that are well priced and filling. One of us got the two piece bento and one of us got the three piece, and we could hardly finish our plates. The meal comes with soup, salad, and rice, but the server let us switch the rice for double salad, which was nice of her (and healthier!). My favorite hole-in-the-wall sushi spot in the neighborhood! The quality of the fish is always really fresh and the prices are very reasonable, which is hard to find these days. One thing I especially love is that if you pay with cash, you get 10% off your bill which is such a great deal. They also have a really good happy hour, and everything we've tried so far has been delicious. I've ordered the Oki Combo, assorted sashimi, and a tempura plate, and it was such a good deal for the amount and quality of food you get. We've also tried the Salmon Lover Roll and the salmon teriyaki, and both were really satisfying and flavorful. The restaurant itself isn't very large, but people usually come and go quickly. I've eaten sushi probably once a week for the last 20 years. This was, unfortunately, the worst sushi I've had in probably a decade. I normally order every fish belly and fatty fish on the menu at a sushi restaurant, but instead of being fatty and rich and delicious it was all kind of... greasy and rank? We're lucky in SF that we are filled with so many sushi spots that are solid 4s for us but would be 5s in any other Bay Area town. Oki sushi is a great example of that. Most of their business seems to be take out and delivery, which they package with care. They do have some tables for invite seating as well and their waitstaff is attentive and very nice. If you're in the Noe/Glen park area, this is a really good option for sushi without a long wait. They clearly have built up a local clientele for good reason. read more

We needed a place to get a quick, early dinner before heading to the airport on a Sunday night. Sushi sounded good, and we hopped on Yelp and found Oki, a Noe Valley joint with high ratings. The place was tiny. It would probably feel busy with eight diners, but it was, unsurprisingly, empty when we walked in at 4:45 in the afternoon. We got seats at the sushi bar and the only other customers we saw were people coming in to grab pick-up orders. I gather Oki does a fair amount of take-out business. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered from our server, who brought our food out in a few of waves after the chefs prepared it on the other side of the counter. The sushi was solid. Not amazing, but decent enough that I'd come back if I lived in the neighborhood. We started with hirame sashimi, served with red onion and radish, then got a whole bunch of nigiri. We had tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp, which came topped with masago and scallion and had the deep-fried heads on the side. Then we had red snapper, yellowtail belly, chutoro, unagi, and tamago. The nigiri were cut super thick, with almost overwhelmingly large slices of fish mounded over the rice. I added a spicy tuna roll and this was pretty delicious. I suspect Oki is a little better for rolls than it is for straight sushi and sashimi. We spent a little over an hour at Oki, finishing our food and then speed drinking the remainder of our sake, a reasonably priced bottle of Dassai. I don't know that we'll ever come back here, as we live in Los Angeles, but we very much enjoyed our visit. read more

I never thought I would say affordable and fresh sushi in the same sentence but Oki Sushi in Noe Valley does just that. Hello Roll (eel, hamachi, avocado), Hawaii Roll (tuna avocado), Spicy Tuna, and Salmon Lover (Salmon skin and cucumber topped with salmon, tobiko, and scallion) all for under $40 before tax and tip. I though the Hello Roll would be my favorite, but I also couldn't stop eating the Salmon Lover so had gotten it all again the second time in one form or another. The second time however wasn't as great as the first as the rice was mushy and didn't have any seasoning (rice vinegar, etc.). In addition, also got the king of hamachi which I was not a big fan of since I prefer raw hamachi over cooked, which this had both. Instead of just spicy tuna this time, I upgraded to the lover roll which was the spicy tuna topped with white tuna and tobiko that came with both the black and orange tobiko. Overall, the mushy unseasoned rice took away from the experience the second time but I am hoping that it was just a one-off since they were really busy with takeout orders that day. Was takeout only when I went the first-time but it has now opened for indoor dining. Walking distance from Mitchell's Ice Cream for dessert after is another bonus. read more

Oki Sushi has become one of my favorite delivery places over the last couple of years. My biggest gripe about sushi in the Bay Area is that it is either expensive and mediocre, or good and exorbitantly expensive. Oki Sushi hits a rare and happy medium. My go-to order is their sushi boat ($59.50), which comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of nigiri, California roll (8 pieces), spicy tuna roll (8 pieces), two small salads, and two miso soups. This can comfortably feed two people and the fish quality is quite good for the price. Their other items are a bit overpriced - the pork belly skewer comes with only one skewer and is $8.50, and their nigiri easily hits $10+ - so I tend to stick to the sushi boat. I can't comment on the in-person service or ambiance since I've never visited the actual restaurant, but the food always arrives well-packed and leak-free. Recommend a try! read more

Here are the items we ordered: Apps: We ordered a couple of appetizers, and surprisingly they were all pretty good. · Geso Karaage (Deep Fried Squid Tentacles) was my absolute favorite because I loved squid tentacles. Their house-made mayo sauce was savory and creamy. · Kaki Fry (Japanese Fried Oysters) and Soft Shell Crab were crispy and chunky; they paired well with beer. I liked the Garlic Edamame which had a tint of spiciness and buttery flavor. · Albacore Tataki and Assorted Sashimi (12pc) were fresh and refreshing as appetizers. Nigiri: Engawa (Fluke Fin): Engawa refers to the parts of muscle in the flounder's edge. OH MY GOD, THIS IS MY FAVORITE. LOVED THIS SO MUCH . Engawa is limited, so make sure you get one if they have Engawa available Otoro with black truffle (Fatty Tuna): THIS IS ALSO MY FAVORITE . The fat melted in my mouth and was super good. It came with the black truffle on the top which brought the nigiri to an extra level. Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp): Fresh, sweet shrimp. The shrimp heads were deep-fried and very crispy. We also ordered Kurodai (Black Sea Bream) , Ikura (Salmon Roe), and Ika (Squid). All of them were fresh and delicious. Rolls: King of Hamachi and TNT Roll were both great. I liked the mango in the TNT roll; the mango made the roll refreshing. The mango was perfect, ripe, and right in season, super fresh and juicy. Hand-Rolls: We got the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll & Spicy Scallop Hand Roll, and they were both made well. The interior décor is nice and cozy; I liked how they decorate the restaurant with warm lightings; and it made me feel comfortable, and the whole experience was delightful. Our table "neighbors" had this and they were raving about it and we got table envy and ordered it. So. Good. I've never eaten this before and now I'm going to look for this again. According to our neighbors no one prepares it like they do here and we were so glad we got an order. We tried the happy combo that featured 8 pieces of Chef's choice nigiri and everything was very fresh and melted in your mouth. The CA roll was nicely rolled with a good ratio of rice to surimi filling. It's on the mayo-ey side but I love mayo so I enjoyed this. The combo also includes a side garden salad with a creamy miso dressing and a container of piping hot miso soup. The soup container is packed on top of the sushi container. Unless you're eating in the car or nearby, I recommend removing the miso soup from the bag so your sushi doesn't warm up in transit. S E R V I C E FAST! Time and time again, when I order for delivery from Oki Sushi, they never disappoint. Oki Sushi is one of the remaining places in San Francisco (that I know of) that still offers a Four Seasons Roll, which is a cucumber and eel roll topped with tuna, avocado, and crab meat drizzled in unagi sauce, spicy mayo and wasabi mayo. The Oki Combo offers 6 pieces of california roll, 6 nigiris, and 4 pieces of sashimi (chef's choice). All of the fishes we so fresh and the nigiris were well seasoned. I really enjoyed the seared tuna sashimi with garlic paste. Very well made nigiris. California Rolls were heavier on the mayo side, but I personally like it that way because it's so creamy. I recently discovered this restaurant and it is now my go-to casual sushi spot for takeout since it's a less than 10 min walk from my place. What a relief. There's a nice fancy sushi place closer to me but sometimes I just want sushi to eat at home without compromising on fish quality. They're still takeout only which suits me just fine. There's both regular nigiri and specialty rolls. I've ordered both types as well as the sashimi, and it's all good.
