I found PC Quickhelp and was impressed by their website & reviews, so I contacted them via email. Within an hour, they had called me back. I brought my computer down to their Woburn location and was greeted by two very friendly & helpful guys in an immaculately clean office. I explained what happened and that I wasn't really fluent in "geek speak" so to please talk in terms I'd understand. No problem. The first thing they did was check Dell's website to see if I had an existing warranty. As expected, it had run out. Then they took a look at it, did a few diagnostics and informed me that the screen was cracked but the rest of the laptop seemed intact. They then did a search to find me the lowest cost screen and explained what the repairs would consist of, the costs, etc. We also discussed the possibility of getting a new laptop altogether (which they sell there, at very reasonable prices) but I ultimately decided to fix my existing one. All this time, they were patient, professional, thorough and spoke in terms that I understood. I never felt rushed, pressured or confused. A few days later, I contacted them for an update and they explained that they replaced the screen but weren't happy with its brightness so were going to change it again to one that was better (at no extra charge). At the same time, they cleaned up my system a bit and checked it for viruses, etc. (again, no extra charge). It took about a week and ended up being even less than what they quoted me, PLUS I was able to use a $50 off coupon I had found on-line (http://maps.google.com/coupons/page?did=0_14928809874340336717&cid=5Z1MW77HJ1AQJEAA&oi=md_coup&sa=X&ct=coup&cd=1&hl=en). When I picked it up, they went over everything very thoroughly, made sure I was happy and told me to call anytime with questions. They also spent over 30 minutes answering my boyfriend's questions about a new computer he was interested in. And throughout all of this, they didn't pressure either of us, were extremely friendly, courteous, honest and helpful in every way. I definitely recommend these guys to ANYBODY!!!!! We were told they accept USPS barcodes/QR codes, just not UPS ones, and we've come in several times with USPS QR codes and they've scanned them, printed the labels, and sent us on our way without any issues. Today was a little different because there was a new associate and they had a sticker label machine, which I actually think is much easier and more convenient. The only issue was that the machine ran out of paper for one of the labels, so he had to manually enter it since he couldn't reprint it. One of my other QR codes also wasn't scanning, so that label had to be printed instead of using the sticker machine. I was charged $.53 for the printed labels, which obviously isn't a big deal and I paid it without an issue. I was just a little confused because before they had the sticker machine, they were printing the labels for us and I was never charged. I asked how I would know ahead of time which QR code would get a sticker and which one would require a printed label, and I was told it just depends on how it scans. That seems a little strange to me and could definitely use some clarification so customers know what to expect. Overall, I still like coming here because it's convenient and I've had good experiences the other times I've gone. I just think the labeling/printing process and the fees could be explained a little more clearly.

PzConnect (William) recently recovered data for me from a mostly-dead hard drive, and I'm extremely…read morehappy with how it went. I'm leaving a review with some technical details, because I wanted more detail when I was reading reviews trying to find help. (It's really hard to know anything about a service if the negative reviews say something like, "It took two weeks and was expensive," and the positive reviews say something like, "I forgot my password and this guy was soooooooooooo helpful.") 1 My OCZ Agility 2 SSD internal hard drive started showing bad behavior. I had been using it as a Windows boot drive, and it would boot until right before the login screen, then dismount. If I ran chkdsk, it would get through 8,000 blocks or so, then dismount. I built a new boot drive and mounted the bad SSD as a data drive; any kind of disk operation resulted in 30 seconds or so of promising interaction (i.e. navigating through a folder hierarchy, or beginning to copy) followed by a dismount, with no data recovered. I "built" (assembled from ordered parts) that computer, and I'm an experienced software engineer, but I don't really know anything about Windows data recovery tools. I read some forums describing problems with the particular drive; I tried updating the drive firmware. (No change in behavior.) I read some forums on file recovery software; I downloaded Recuva and poked around, but basically got the same results as when just using Windows Explorer. The problem was not easily searchable: Either not many people have the same problem, or else it was a problem without a really specific (i.e. searchable) symptom. So what do I do? I'm a technical person, but I don't have the specific tools or experience. William had the tools and experience. I think in this case there wasn't any silver bullet which solved the problem -- he just had the patience to try a bunch of things, and the experience and tools to know what to try. In less than 24 hours, on a weekend, he had recovered the folder I cared about. (I had a weekly backup for the rest.) He charged (quite a bit) less than $100 in this case. Could I have gotten it done if I downloaded more tools and tried more things? Maybe. But I'm really happy I didn't spend any more time trying. One more note: I had called a reputable data recovery specialist company in the area, and when the customer rep wouldn't answer my questions, he referred me to the owner. The owner gave some GREAT info about what they were able to do for SSDs: maybe replace the drive controller; maybe pull individual chips from the board to recover partial data. My instinct was that this was overkill. I could have been wrong, but I'm really glad I went with my instinct.

They wouldn't accept the job since the console had been opened in the past citing 'liability' concerns. The receptionist was rude and condescending during the encounter. This was a trial run as I planned on giving them a lot of console work in the future but I will be going elsewhere. I called another repair shop shortly after and they said they would take the job no problem and were able to essentially diagnose the problem over the phone (a solution consistent with that I explained over the phone). Perhaps Replay'd should adjust their policies and their attitude towards potential customers as they never know what opportunities may be lying on the other line.
