Make sure you check your to go order they make to many mistakes. I ordered a caldo de res that's beef soup and I ask for extra veggies on the side, they give me broth it look like someone's leftovers. I was just so disappointed. Came here at 6pm on a Saturday to a full parking lot and didn't have to wait for a table. Our waiter, Roberto seemed to be in a hurry and was very short with us. Even when we paid he brought back our credit cards he set them down and walked away without saying a word. They gave us chips and salsa from a jar which seemed to be something that resembled ketchup. I ordered the taco plate with ground beef, rice and beans. I thought it was all pretty bland. I think Taco Bell would've been a better choice. read more

If I could rate Ojeda's on Maple higher I would rate them at 1000! I hired in at Dallas Love field in 1987 for the US GOV. (Not controller.) Since I found them on Maple road I have eaten there at LEAST twice a month for the last 33 years. President Clinton ate there BTW. Just say'n. (Boss's favorite was El Fenix. Yuck, Took him to Ojeda's. Many staff "Meetings" at Ojeda's until he retired in 1998. LOL!) Yep. Lot's of memories and history here. This is by far the BEST place for Tex Mex in the DFW Metroplex. I have eaten at their (Now defunct.) restaurant in Richardson which wasn't as good as the one on Maple for some strange reason. What? Y'all don't share the same recipes? Okay... Maybe that's why it's gone. No quality control. My absolute, close the menu, favorite meal has always been their enchiladas. Beef. cheese, chicken. (Cheese BTW) OMG! Their rice has flavor! What? Really!? Yep! Can eat it by itself! Their refried beans have flavor! Subtle hint of BACON!! Simply Lovely! I have been trying to recreate their beans, rice, and chili con carne at home to no avail. (I graduated culinary arts in Dallas. BTW.) As such I gave up and just go there instead and savor the flavor! For the last 33 years I watched them expand into their new building as the line for Wednesday Lunch used to loop around their building at 11:00am when they opened until they did. Major wait! Had to park in their gravel lot behind! Their restaurant, and more importantly their tables have always been clean and presentable. Their staff have always been courteous, though sometimes I couldn't find my waiter. (We have actually left our table a few times to their counter to pay without a check.) Then I found out that I could flag down ANY one of them! Doesn't matter! Whether it be more chips, salsa, fork, drink, or your check. Don't be bashful, do it! Now it will be rare that I get my Ojeda's "Fix" damn it! I just hope their Plano location is just as good as it's still 30 minutes away or I'm driving an hour to Maple when home. read more

I've been coming here for years and I can't say tradition wins me over quality. Service is great and definitely loyal to the regulars. Margaritas are good but don't expect a full service bar - no martinis or creative mixology. Puff tacos are enough for one and portions of protein are generous. I personally like the enchiladas, but the salsa that's served with chips are not my style; too much texture, too hot and has too much of an Old El Paso appearance :[ Just not my thing; however, they do have a gringo salsa for those who do not want as much heat. I guess I'm just not that much of a fan after witnessing a rat running across the wood beams in the ceiling, scooped into a cone by a fellow worker and quickly carried through the kitchen toward its final destination. When in Texas one must eat Tex-Mex right? Well even if I'm not right I still did. Our party of four was seated right away; chips and salsa brought right out and drink orders taken. One top shelf margarita for me, I was told I had to try one. Let's just say the thing nearly kick my butt it was good and strong. The chips I'm told are made fresh in house along with the salsa and both were tasty and great. I went for the puffed chicken taco dinner. I'd never had a puffy taco before only seen them on TV and I wasn't sure how to eat them but a knife and fork worked just fine. They were served with rice and beans and everything was outstanding and full of flavor the only thing missing for me was some good, fresh pico de gallo but due to the 2K8 tomato debacle they didn't have any but the salsa worked just fine. For dessert we decided to share some spoadilla, they were fresh and fluffy and non-greasy but sticky and mmm mmm good! I guess I can add that everything muy delicio and excellent! Oh be warned the non-handicap stall in the ladies room has some serious suckage and if you're not careful it just might suck you in. read more

I wanted to try out puffy tacos while I was visiting visiting Dallas, and Ojeda's more than delivered. My food came out almost too quickly, but it was tasty and had good flavor. I have been here twice now. Service has been excellent both times. Atmosphere is traditional with a festive flair. I like their chips, not too thick or thin. The salsa is a bit generic. Has a little heat. Picture blended tomatoes and jalapeño. Needs cilantro desperately, or bell peppers, onions, something to spice it up with more flavor. They serve the salsa in a pour your own container, which is nice. First visit ordered the Ojeda platter, their biggest Mexican sampler. Delicious and recommended. A bit pricey at $12.50, but it is a lot of food. Recommended. Second visit I ordered the lunch enchilada plate, with one cheese and one beef. I'm not sure but what those were about as fine of enchiladas I've ever had. Served with good brown enchilada sauce on top. Recommended. I also ordered an Anaheim beef stuffed crispy Chili Relleno. I just did not like it. The pepper and beef were probably good, but was hard to tell because of some unusual sauce on top. The sauce was mostly a clear yellow thickened sauce, almost like thickened salty chicken bullion. Out of place and not good at all. Everything I had was good but the fajita steak nachos are amazing like, I don't even eat steak unless it's filet but my friend insisted I try it & I regretted splitting them lol. Chips are outstanding. Salsa tastes just like Pace picante with a little spice. Upon asking waiter what they recommended he said the enchilada lunch special was most popular so that's what I got. Decent rice, unoriginal beans, and average cheese enchiladas. Good service. I was underwhelmed but wasn't expecting too much considering the 3.5 star average. Holey moley. This place was bomb. I'm a CA native and was visiting Dallas for the weekend and everyone I was visiting with highly recommended Ojeda's. Despite them raving about it I really didn't have the highest expectations. After all I'm from socal where good Mexican food is a staple. Ojeda's fajita-fried egg-enchilada was AMAZING. I was full by the time I'd had half of it but really just couldn't stop eating. You can choose between chicken and beef fajitas and enchiladas so I got a chicken enchilada and beef fajitas. This place definitely made me want to try more Tex-Mex dishes. If I ever find myself back in Dallas this is where i'm dining. read more

We were drawn to it due to extremely high ratings and reviews but didn't come out very excited. Restaurant is pretty large and has a old world charm to it. It looked pretty popular spot among all kinds of crowd - Americans, hispanics. But for us, being vegetarians, they only had 2 options, those too didn't taste very great. Most Mexican restaurants are able to customize their dishes, but our server expressed his inability to accommodate any change in dishes by removing meat and converting them into a vegetarian meal. Even the drinks we ordered weren't very good. Hence 2 stars. If you're a vegetarian, my review hold some credibility for you, but for meat lovers, I'd suggest you try it yourself to be a better judge. Reviews from so many people cannot be wrong. read more

Salsa! This place has one of the best table salsas ever. You have to ask for mild salsa as the hot salsa is by default. Of course I like it spicy. I've only been here during lunch and it can get chaotic sometimes, especially with bigger parties. I've had the best chicken mole( favorite). I also had the tacos, enchiladas, and they're all good. You can ask for double refried beans too. I never had a bad experience at this place. A must try for Mexican food fans. read more

I frequent this place for lunch. I am a big fan of their hot sauce; definitely has a bit of a kick to it but it will not destroy your mouth. I like to get their fajita chimichanga, can never go wrong with that. The restaurant has a nice festive decor inside and its always nice and cool. Seems like it would be a good place for happy hour and dinner. The food is mostly tex-mex but i think you can find some authentic items on the menu. read more

I ordered menudo from here on Door Dash one lazy Sunday and it was some of the best menudo I've had in a while (not counting my own, of course). It was a generous amount of meat and I was able to eat out of it for 2 days. It also came with lots of cilantro, onions, and lemon, which really enhanced the amazing flavor! I also ordered sopapilla and I was slightly disappointed that only one comes for $1.99. But, as fall and winter approaches, I'm sure I will get the menudo again! read more

My wife drags me here for after work happy hour because it close to her work and easy to get to but that doesn't explain everyone else. There are so many places better than this place within a couple miles I'm stymied. They have the best refried beans I've ever had, and I've lived in Texas all my life. So. If you like refried beans, or even if you think you don't like them, try them here. They actually have FLAVOR, as opposed to refried beans everywhere else! That said, I had the same reaction as Ganesh when my food came out less than 5 minutes after ordering it. There's no way that food was freshly made. Also, my chicken fajitas came out on a single plate (no sizzling platter of deliciousness), with no toppings aside from some watery green bell peppers and onions. It was a large serving, but the flavor of the chicken was lacking...and only two flour tortillas? Really?! The chips here are good, but a bit greasy. The salsa was way too spicy for my taste. (Yes, I'm a wimp.) Other than that...well, I guess it's decent food if you're in the area, but Mia's and Gloria's and other equally decent establishments are nearby, too. I didn't require a refill to my salsa bowl and it might be the first time that's happened. This is the only reason for not giving 5 stars. My plate ended up being really good. I had the ribeye enchiladas and the cheese and chili con carne were just the way I like it being from central/south TX. Just shut up and order the Ojeda's dinner plate. For a little under 11 bucks, you get a little plate with quacamole, another with a tortilla covered in spicy queso and a platter approximately as big the hood of your car with two enchiladas, a puffy taco filled with ground beef, and plenty of rice and beans. This after you have gorged on hot and crispy chips and the all-you-can-pour salsa from the pitcher on the table. Tex Mex heaven. The brisket tacos did not compare, unfortunately. It was a do-it-yourself kit with bare beef inside some soft tortillas with guacamole, beans (charro style, not refried), rice and pico de gallo on the side. It only made me sadder to remember the brisket chile relleno at the currently-closed Avila's across the street. Fortunately, my mom faded and I was able to switch plates. Sorry, mom.... Margarita was average. Beans had a strong taste of bacon grease, like that stuff you keep on the back of the stove. Not my thing. On the other hand, the praline may be the best I ever had... crackly instead of soft and piled high with pecans. This restaurant is literally the first place I ever ate out. According to my parents they brought me here shortly after being born just so they could eat. So its my actual first restaurant experience. Also, it is truly Tex-mex or at least what I come to eat. Everything is slathered in a cheezy sauce that is undoubtedly NOT authentic and yet whenever I come home I must indulge in this childlike nostalgia. The inside is amazing, with christmas lights and cool old movie posters over the tables in one of the rooms. Also there is a framed piece of memorabilia from when then President Clinton visited Dallas and ate at O'jedas. There is a picture and some white house M&ms, I always thought that was way cool as a kid. As an adult I can't get enough! read more

One of my favorite Tex-Mex places. I've not had anything bad here, but quite frankly I've only gotten a couple select items on the menu. I'll speak to them and why I love them, and perhaps if you read this and had a bad experience you could try it and maybe I'm nuts?? I like spicy, I like the hot sauce, I like the fresh chips and in plentiful quantities. there may be better places, but when I get a hankering for Tex Mex this is where I go, or Arboledas in Rockwall (it's not bad and I'll review it too). It's been a decade since I've eaten here, and the food is still great. I typically do not like "Tex Mex," but Ojeda's is more authentic, which is probably why I'm a fan. Our 6:30P reservations on a Sat nt for 5 people were confirmed by phone the day of and we were promptly seated at 6:30P, in spite of a growing waiting crowd. Food came out in what I would consider a very timely manner, and our waiter was on top of our drinks. Were dining with out of town relatives so was ecstatic Ojeda's had not changed in the 10 yrs since my last visit, because they were very pleased. Tex-Mex at its best! I've been to Ojeda's many times over the past fifteen years (or so) and each time I go I'm still pleased with the quality of food. The portions are plentiful, the salsa is amazing...AND, they leave a pitcher of it on each table so you can eat as much as you want without having to pester the waitstaff.
