This is a gun guy's (and girl's) heaven. They have four walls that are covered with pretty much every conceivable legal to own firearm. The floor is taken up with waist level stacks of ammunition for all those guns too! A word on ammo. They always seem to be getting a large shipment in. The owner posts on Twitter when they do, and popular calibers go quickly. The prices are reasonable and frequent sales keep me well stocked. The staff is knowledgeable, but are not going to make small talk with you. They take care of military and law-enforcement communities which is admirable in this day in age. One of the owners, Carter, is a walking encyclopedia of firearms knowledge if you're lucky enough to catch him at the shop. If you have some obscure question about some modern or historic firearm, Carter probably knows the answer. Carter's business partner, Eric, usually is the outspoken man standing behind the register. He is the man to talk to if you are trying to improve your precision rifle setup, but be aware he doesn't mix his words. People with thin skin may get offended, but I think his jibes are only there to shake people out of complacent or ignorant behavior. There are several other employees I've seen, one that stands out is Eugene. When it comes to 1911's he definitely knows what's up. If you shoot IPSC, he can steer you in the right direction too. The last thing I want to touch on is the customers and parking. In general everyone is professional and courteous making the most of the limited parking on Kahai Street. Occasionally there is just no way to park until someone leaves, but even if you double park behind someone no one seems to get mad. I have one gripe with the customers, and this is true at every gun shop island wide. There are a few tactical nerds that walk in carrying a full on bug out bag or some type of big old Rambo fixed blade on their hip. Hawaii state law says there is no length limit to knives, so I guess those aren't illegal, you'd have to ask a cop. I just think common sense should dictate when and where you carry all that sort of kit. Out hiking , hunting, or on a job, sure. Shopping for anything, even if it's in a gun shop, no. Leave your pig sticker at home. This is the best gun shop on island. It's not perfect, but it's the best stocked, manned by the most knowledgeable staff. read more

This is THE PLACE in Honolulu for all of your gun&ammo needs! Having been involved in the shooting community on Oahu for over two decades, I can tell you that we gun owners have been getting the short end of the stick for FAR TOO LONG. OGC Tactical has shown that we DO NOT need to pay overly inflated prices just because "this is Hawaii, and shipping is expensive". They know how to source ANYTHING gun related that you need, and are happy for any and all business that comes their way. To all you people who think Carter (The Big Guy) has an attitude: He is from the East Coast! That's how people are there! He can't help it. People in Hawaii are (for the most part) very mellow and used to be treated with kid gloves. Carter is not from Hawaii, so you will just have to accept him for how he is. Go visit some East Coast gun stores some time... you will come running and screaming back to OGC and bow at the feet of Carter - master of the Ultimate Discounted Gun Store. read more

I went to OGC looking for an AR. Needed information from the salesperson. Got a lot of attitude. I am sure that the information I wanted was old news to the salesperson who probably has repeated it a zillion times. After reading the other reviews will have to reconsider going there again to make a purchase. read more

They have the best prices, and I think they stock what people really want, also they will order something for you quickly, but as far as being nice to customers, its pretty much like Juan said every time I go there, give us your money and get the hell out of here. And the location is sleazy, there are massage parlors in the building primarily it seems and 1 parking space so get close and walk. If price is everything then this is the place, if you want some friendly service go see Young Guns and pay more, they have parking too. read more

An objective review without any special "considerations" (ie I don't hang out there to make 'buddies')... The selection of firearms at OGC is decent to good and the pricing is not out of line. Ammo sells mostly by the case and their price is...unbeatable. They consistently provide the best prices and seem to know what people want. The staff is knowledge and usually friendly (everybody has a bad day), but then again I don't go to have my ego stroked. I know what I want and am in-and-out without need for idle chit chat. Based on that it's a fine shop and regardless of what anyone says, Carter is an ok guy. One thing I don't understand from everyone elses review...Why ignore the elephant in the room? The parking situation is ridiculous! 3-4 stalls open to customers and they're ALWAYS taken. I just don't understand how a business chooses to use up prime parking spaces for employees rather than paying customers. You can park on the street if you can find a spot, but do you really want to be walking blocks in a warehouse district with a firearms box or heavy-assed case of ammo? PARKING is the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars...in my opinion, (having driven around the block for an average of 20 minutes everytime), OGC deserves 5 but gets a 3. read more

Great store even though the layout of the store is weird, and the parking isn't the greatest. They have the best staff of any firearm store on the island! They actually appreciate there business and have great prices! I would highly recommend this store and already have recommended this store to friends! Thanks OGC! read more

Bar none the best gun shop in Hawaii. They are seriously understaffed though because they have the best deals in town and are always busy.

Biggest gun spread ive seen in hawaii. Great inventory. helpful staff. they run notifications on twitter via text that let you know of sales and items that come in. very helpful. Only down side i can think of is parking. otherwise its a joy to shop there. read more

I've been meaning to check this place out for quite some time now, and I mean like a year ago. I've finally managed to swing by the shop at their new location and didn't know what to expect at first. The place from the outside and the area appeared to be sketchy, all the way until I got into the front door. Parking is not ideal, but you'll get that all over Hawaii. Going into a gun shop with just the intentions of looking is never a great idea, but that's all this visit was for, just to check it out. I was actually interested in particularly viewing the Colt M4 6940 as shown on their website. I was there with my girlfriend and was chit chatting with the shorter asian male that works there, I can't recall his name, but he was very helpful in showing me and my girlfriend various firearms all the while providing great information about each. (props to you man, despite what others might have said on here, everyone has their days.) Other beautiful guns that caught my eye was a custom Colt 1911 in the center case, and my girlfriend pointed out the custom Sig P238 .380 Lady edition which she was quite fond of. The shop is one of the more spacier shops I have been in, lots of guns from AK's to AR's to Shotguns to Pistols of all the various types of your choosing. I did not prod too much with questions as I was just there to check things out, but just judging by that experience alone with the shop in itself, their very fair prices, including with the customer service I had received, I decided then and there that I would definitely be back in the near future to make a purchase or three. Highly recommended, I hope my future visits go just as smoothly and is just as fun, keep up the great work guys. read more

Difficult parking even on a Saturday. This gun shop is easy to find and don't judge a book by its cover. The outside looks like a dump, but inside is a beautiful store, hard wood floors, machine guns in the middle of the store and rifles hanging from every wall. Prices are extremely good also. After checking prices online, cost of shipping, FFL transfer fee, I was prepared to calculate the costs and sure to be disappointed. But the rifles were priced the same as many online gun stores. I picked up a polish made ak 47, a mosin M91/30, and 1440 rounds of ammunition. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Every employee I talked to was an uber gun nerd, and very helpful without being pushy. I highly recommend these guys. read more

The folks were pretty good over there. Went over to see about getting a simple pump action shotgun (Mossberg). While they didn't have the 18.5" barrel, still a 20" would work for home defense. Probably a tad more expensive than another place but overall not bad. The guys were helpful and pointed out bits and pieces of the shotgun I was working on. Parking is a bitch even on weekend (Saturday) but thankfully the place next door was not occupied so it wasn't bad but as others have said, come on a weekday be prepared to walk. read more

Its sad that I even have to give a star to leave a review. OGC tactical is a bunch of liars. Take your business elsewhere anywhere but here. You will definitely have a better experience. Best rip off experience ever. They definitely lack integrity. They will lie to you to make a sale. I wonder if they pad their reviews? read more

Visited OGC twice now in two weeks, so far no negative experience. Just purchased a Ruger 357 from Buds Gun Shop online and awaiting delivery to OGC. Will see if the transfer transaction continues on a positive note, if so will continue to do business with OGC and possibly give OGC the fifth star. As far as guns, rifles, bull pups and shotguns, etc....they have it all---plus a lot less than other gun shops in Honolulu. On the positive note, try it for yourself and see. read more

Went here to sign up for the handgun class and check out what they have. Staff is knowledgable, professional and friendly. They have a good amount of inventory on hand which is awesome. read more

I've really tried to giving OGC a chance. I like the owner, but I can't stand some of the staff. I don't know how many times I've ask a simple question and gotten some BS smart ass answer. I'm guessing they were trying to be funny or clever, but all it is, is condescending. My "favorite" is when you try to inspect the inner workings of a product and you get the whole lecture about how that's now allowed, like they're the absolute authority and everyone else is too stupid to know what they're looking for. It simply amazes me how they expect someone to spend thousands of dollars on a product, without being allowed to look under the hood? Their customer service is unbelievable... I'm not going there ever again to even look, much less give them my money. read more

Great selection! Awesome prices! Very knowledgable! I bought most of my firearms from Carter! Looking forward to go back!

WOW, awesome store, awesome selection and awesome service. There are a lot of people getting into the sport of shooting and these people will take the time to help and educate. They also offer classes which is required by law to obtain a handgun. I got mine in the mid 80's but I haven't fired a weapon in over 15 years so I'm rusty on the mechanics but they were patient and helped out a lot. Not intimidating at all. The prices are the best on the island, trust me, I researched it. Bought a glock 22 4th gen. read more

The selection and prices are great. I've only dealt with Gene and Dan. Nothing but great customer service was given. Some times I was a little intimidated to ask a question but they have never denied an answer. I'm a newbie so I have a lot of information to gain from these guys and they seem more than willing to share for the most part. The only downfall I'd say is the parking. Location is nice but parking to the building is a bit tight. I will definitely be a repeat customer here no doubt about it. read more

I love coming here. It's a candy store for firearm lovers. They have an awesome selection of pistols, rifles, accessories, and ammo. Eric and Gene are both friendly and give honest reviews and opinions on everything sold there. Ogc has become my go to spot for all things weapons related. read more

Owner is rude. Acts like he's doing you a favor if you buy something. Selection is good, however. Thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and purchased $4000.00 worth of stuff anyway. I made a few purchases after that within the same month. Attitude did not improve. I have regretted going there ever since. I don't like to gripe, but I wish someone had warned me about them. These guys are great. I regret that i cant remember the names of either of the guys i dealt with, one being the owner and the other i think being a co-owner. One was a rather large bearded guy, the other a clean shaven asian gentlemen. These guys are helpful, friendly, reasonably priced, and knowledgeable. They dont talk smack on other gun shops, dont push products at you you dont want, and seem more inclined to give you advice that actually fits your needs than make a sale you'll regret. I purchased an m4 style rifle from them (assembled and with the MOE package that would cost about $200 dollars seperately) for the price of the same brand gun as a kit. I enquired about EOTech optics, they showed me the models they had in stock and were very helpful, and enlightened me that if i was only using the rifle as a "range toy" i didnt need a military hardened soldier-proof optic, and a cheap red dot from sports authority would suit my needs. They gave up that $435 sale ( $75 cheaper than i could find the sight anywhere but gunbroker, and those used) but they gained a loyal customer, and i've already sent a few of my friends their way. great great store, definitely check them out. read more

Best place to spend your day. Great customer service and they support Military and Law Enforcement like no other shop. Thanks guys!!!

It's hard to get help from sales associates to see firearms from the showcase. One of them was standing in front of me, at the showcase at the rear of the store, dry firing one of the pistols about 10-15 times, while I was waiting to see one of the pistols in the case. Geez, I'm not invisible. When I'm done, I move over to the revolver showcase, and the same employee decides that it time for his snack. He takes out his cookies, and puts them on the showcase and starts to eat them. How unprofessional. If this guy wants to eat something, go to the back room and do it quickly, away from the customers view. Imagine getting the pistols dirty with food. I over hear from someone, that the owner is on a business trip, off island. I guess when the owner is away, anything goes. Honestly, I don't know why they charge an extra 3% from using a credit card. Their prices aren't 3% lower to constitute getting a "deal" by paying cash. Credit card fees can be used as a business expense. I'm not telling you how to run your financial side of your business. For instance, I paid $29 for a box of AE .38 not knowing the price of ammo. After looking at other shops, they sell the same ammo for $25. And lastly, the employee at the register, who drops "f" bombs when talking to other employees, while customers are in the shop. It's so not needed. Am I supposed to feel intimidated with some employees holstering sidearms? I'll give them one star for the quantity of firearms that a shop has to offer. read more

I've really dig this place. Very straight forward about everything. Prices are very fair. I bought my first pistol (HK VP9) & rifle (Colt 6920) from them. Eric was very helpful and gave me some cool tips on a few other things. These guys are my go to store. read more

Came in for a 223 sale today. Best price I've seen on the island in years. Overall you can't beat their selection and prices. Sure you might find a better price on certain things elsewhere from time to time but you would be hard pressed to find better deals. For those of you who like to complain about Ogc's prices online, I say don't buy then. Kills me to see all these keyboard commandos cry about pricing. Carter, Eric and Gene have always been helpful and genuine whenever I come in. Can't say nothing but good things. Come check these guys out for all your shooting needs read more

I went to OGC Tactical because they were listed as a FFL. I wasn't looking to buy at the time, only to check them out. Parking like everyplace in Hawaii sucks, not their fault. Building and location may leave you a little skeptical; it did make my wife a little nervous at first. It's on the third floor and yes the stairs are steep and could be very slippery if wet. Yes, OGC's store, if you can call it that is very small but any skepticism I had was gone very quickly. They have a good selection of pistols on display along with some AR rifles. I asked about the fee they charged for having a gun shipped to them, which they give a discount to LEO and military. He in turn asked me what I was looking for, (I didn't see it in his display) I told him thinking there was no way he had one, but as it turned out he had like 5. In reality, what they have on display is only a fraction of what they have, most of their stock is in back as they is just no room to show all they have. Both employees I met were very friendly, outgoing, more than willing to answer any questions I had, give recommendations and show me any gun I was interested in. There inventory is huge but you must ask them if you don't see it, more than likely they have it in stock but in back. If they don't have it, they can get it and there prices are great. So in the end they had what I wanted, the price was cheaper than online so I bought it on the spot. I asked lots of questions, very informative answers. I looked at three other guns, which were in back but exactly what I was looking for and again, prices were great. I WILL be back and highly recommend. Give them a look, there small but so worth it. read more

Knowledgeable, Friendly, great service. They really took their time with me. Can't believe how patient they were with other rude customers while trying to take care of me. I'm new to firearms and the gun culture seems to bring out some real characters. They took the time to explain the different ARs and encouraged me to spend less yet get a better quality rifle. You can tell their staff is straight forward and encouragingly passionate. Loved my experience. They answered my questions and I ended up with a very reasonably priced Colt that everyone at the range was impressed with. I'll never go anywhere else and would encourage all my friends to go there. If you want an aromatherapy spa treatment, you are in the wrong hobby. If you want to participate in man stuff OGC is the go to place. If they don't carry it they even take their time to guide you to the best web sites to buy the best stuff (like the Knights rail for my Colt!) They have the BEST selection, GREAT pricing, and FANTASTIC staff. You can tell from the moment you walk in with how organized and clean the place is that they put a massive amount of heart and soul into their shop. You are SURROUNDED by 360 degrees guns and PALLETS of different ammo!!!! EVERYTHING is so professionally organized into easy to find areas that makes it a breeze to find exactly what you want. Traveling for work I've been recently looking at gunshops all over the country and am amazed that we are so lucky to have such a great shop right here. I am so impressed that I felt I needed to make a review here. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! I don't know who this Carter guy is but I'll say this. You couldn't have picked better guys to run your shop. I had even miscounted the cash I gave while paying and the young man behind the register gave me back the extra $100 bill I had accidental given him with a smirk and funny comment, "no tips required uncle." Wow!!! read more

This is a shady business. A few of the employees are rude. I had a rifle transfered from out of state.. unfortunately i had to leave it in their shop for a long time. They failed to mention that they charge a storage fee every month. Now I do understand that I shouldn't have just assumed they would hold onto for me for free. I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing because not once in the 33 months I had my rifle there did they ever call and ask for a payment for storage. So when I go to have it shipped out of there finally I had a large tab built up. The situation goes both ways.. and I do believe they knew what they were doing holding my gun for so long without asking for a payment. So when my rifle arrived where I sent it The magazine that was in the original factory box was not there. It didn't suprise me, I mean why not take that p-mag and re sell it for 100% profit. And to the owner, I see you replying to everyone's review trying to be sensitive to their issues with your store but I truly believe that you do not care because if you did then these employees that are being called out by name.on here would be fired. So with that being said, you are a shady business owner. One last thing, I'm sure whoever is reading this will wonder why I havnt contacted them about the missing P-mag.. honestly they will just deny it. read more

Let me first say I'm Law enforcement. It's been close to a year since I've been in OGC because parking frustrates me, then the opinions and arrogance annoys me inside the shop. Carter has always been cool with me. He has been consistent. After 3 poor experiences, I talked myself into going today to get ammo for my 2 40 cal pistols. I actually got a parking spot which has prevented me from actually entering the store the last 3 times I tried. There were 3 other non-employee's in the store yet it took 5 minutes standing in front of the computer where a certain employee (very arrogant in the past and today too) took 5 mintutes to acknowledge me by finally saying, "I'll be with you in just a minute sir". Ok, that's alright, I just want to grab 1000 rounds and be out (but he didn't know that). He finished whatever he was doing, proceeded to go over to another customer to talk story about something military (even though he was being helped by someone else already), walked back to the computer where the customer followed. The employee helping him came up behind with a rifle. Mr. Holier Than Though looked at me, looked at the guy buying the rifle and started to ring him up. Keep in my at that point I had been standing there for about 10 minutes already, been told I would be helped "in just a minute" and there was plenty of time for him to check me out. Just tell me you're busy or want to talk with the guy, it's ok, don't blow smoke up my ass and tell just a minute. There's more but I'm completely over OGC at this point. At times staff has been fine, thanking me for my service, talking with me, etc., however it's hit and miss. Usually miss since they have moved to the new store. I guess they think their stuff doesn't stink now. I know I was only going to spend $400 and change but man, they didn't have to treat me like they wouldn't like my business. Apparently, after reading the other negative reviews and talking with others in my Dept., I'm not the only one who feels they are very opinionated, self righteous and customer service deficient. The only reason I bothered with this review was so others would think twice about going in to OGC. It's a shame. It's a nice shop with good inventory on weapons and they usually have ammo, but the attitude ruins the place. It's a shame. They have a lot of potential, but at this point Magnum (or whatever it's called now) will get my money over these guys and that's a kick to the nuts cause Magnum is barely above OGC (but really don't go there either). At least their service is ok, just 100% over msrp. Word of mouth gets around quick (despite my partners complaining too I still went here). Unfortunately I don't have much good to say anymore and that makes me sad, because I've went back again and again despite swearing I would not ever again. So this will be my last time going to OGC. Rewarding bad behavior only tells them that the behavior is o.k. I'm not yelling, I'm just saying. Decide for yourself. Some of the guys are knowledgeable about the weapons. I say some because I have not spoken with all of them. I'm told some of them do a good job concerning customer service too. In the past when it was only Carter, when he was in town, he was pretty good. Sorry Carter, but apparently I'm not the only one. read more

I bought my gun at OGC a few months back. I only used it a couple times and had a major issue with it. So I took it back to see what was wrong, so I could proceed with the next step in getting it fixed. The guy I bought my gun from was Eric and he was always friendly, helpful, informative, and never made me felt uneasy there. Unfortunatley he was helping someone at the the time, so I had Gene look at my gun. He pretty much looked at it, said it was broken, and handed the gun back to me. It kind of felt like I was bothering him! After he gave the gun back to me, there wasn't any type effort to inform me on how to get it fixed or any reassurance that I wouldn't have any issues getting it fixed. He just handed the gun back to me and walked away. I think Eric realized that I was annoyed by Gene, and proceeded to ask if I knew what to do, and reassured me that the gun manufacturer would get it fixed. Later that day I went to another gun shop and spent almost $2,000 on another rifle for my collection. It seems as if the owner doesn't care that his employee Gene mistreats customers, because there have been numerous complaints concerning him on Yelp but he continues to act this way towards his customers. I have talked to many of my friends that go there, and the majority of them agree that this guy has an attitude problem! This store may not care about losing a customer due to this guys attitude since they have a lot of customers, but eventually they will! They need to remember that there are many gun shops out there wanting my business! As you can see also in my profile, this is first bad review I have done on Yelp. I hardly write reviews unless the place is exceptional! Unfortunatley this place was exceptionally bad just because of one employee...Oh and just to let you know, I get a little crazy when I get into hobbies. Like my shoe collection that floats around 200 pairs at any given moment. That's the kind of customer you have lost. Think about it... read more

Started to get back into shooting, after awhile away. never been to this place so I decided to check it out. heard some good things about this place. first off parking is bad. decided I would run in and risk parking illegally for a few minutes. when I first walked in the place looked empty and I quickly realized the shop was in the back. there is some other type shop in the entrance. didn't get much info since the guy in front didn't acknowledge my existence when I came in as well as when I left. he was busy texting. saw the door that said gun shop in rear. when I went in the place was really nice. Nicest gun shop I have ever seen! I didn't have much time because I was parked illegally! browsed through the inventory really quickly. nice products nice guns, prices were pretty high though. seemed to be 30.00-50.00 more than other places I go to. my biggest peeve about this place is customer service. I own my own business so I know how important it is to treat customers. in my opinion there was no service. 4 guys working in there. 1 guy was with a customer, 2 guys texting, one guy doing some kind of paper work, one of the texting guys stopped long enough to look at me and watch me like I was going to steal something. not one person said hi or welcome or even a head nod. I am no bitc* that needs my hand held, but damn! I guess with the resent gun craze, these people don't need customers.
