The drinks were great and the food was soo good that we still talk about it days later. He loved the bone marrow. Steak was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The cake was not my favorite at all. It took way too long to come out and it came out very cold. Not much chocolate flavor, too much salt. It was missing something. We will skip dessert next time.

Two Words . . VERY…read moreRICH I keep forgetting that this restaurant is essentially serving Southern style comfort food in an upscale setting. Southern comfort food as a general rule just doesn't sit well with me anymore and I'm going to be very transparent and bare my soul a little bit here but here goes . . . Ever since being on GLP1's, I've developed a really complicated relationship with comfort food. Foods that are rich, buttery, creamy or fatty now hit me completely differently than they used to. It's almost like my body immediately goes into shutdown mode afterwards. I feel heavy, exhausted and like I've instantly ballooned even if the portions themselves aren't massive. For the longest time I honestly thought it was simply the richness of the food itself but now I realize it's because my digestion just can't process heavier comfort foods the same way anymore. Suddenly... it all makes sense. The food itself here is VERY good. Properly seasoned, well prepared, beautifully presented... absolutely no complaints there whatsoever. I simply have to become more mindful and strategic now with my menu selections no matter WHERE I dine. I chose the Creekstone Farm's NY Strip with the fabulous bone marrow which I KNOW is supposed to be incredibly nutrient rich and good for you... but honestly... it just about put me under afterwards. This dinner happened thanks to Ronnald M. and his sister Teris and it was our pre-opera dinner outing before seeing the fabulous Merry Widow at the Dr. Phillips Center. The Monroe is honestly a very good pre-concert restaurant choice because of both the atmosphere and location... I'm just personally learning that this new GLP1 reality means I can't approach menus the way I used to anymore.

The parking lot was not full when we got there and was able to park in the first spot next to the outdoor seating area. We were greeted upon entering and told we could sit anywhere. Savannah (I hope the spelling is correct) came over and took our drink orders. We ordered OJ and coffee. When she returned, she told us about the specials, what some of her favorites are, answered any questions we had, and took our food order. Mom ordered the 1 Pancake. 1 Egg with Bacon and and Sausage. I had the Beef Short Rib Hash (Scrambled Eggs). The food arrived quickly. Jason delivered the food to our table and chat with us for a bit. My hash was served deconstructed and not mixed together like I expected. Everything tasted good. I especially loved the Grilled Biscuit that accompanied the hash. Grilling the biscuit added an additional texture and flavor of buttery goodness. Jason and Savannah were attentive and checked with us periodically to make sure we were good. Coffee refills were available. By the time we were ready to leave, the restaurant was almost full. Thank you Jason and Savannah for the good customer service and care. I would definitely return for that Grilled Biscuit.

Our Peach Bellini's tasted great and for our entree we ordered the Short Rib Benedict with a side on Pancakes with fresh Fruit. I bought a friend from New York who was visiting and she loved it. She requested if they could make her a Chunky Chicken Salad sandwich, rather than the salad on the menu. They obliged and even gave her a Bleu Cheese Caesar salad on the side. Briarpatch knows how to impress as well as cater to the needs of the customer! I ordered one of my favorites, the Brown Rice Bowl and it was fresh and more than filling for lunch. Various flavored mimosas were enjoyed also. I went again last week with local friends as all three of us enjoy this place (and its mimosas!!) One friend tried the Chunky Chicken Salad on the menu (seasonal fruits and berries with zucchini bread sandwiches) and commented on the presentation (which Briarpatch is also well known for) and the freshness of the fruit. She especially enjoyed the zucchini sandwiches! Her husband ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich as it is one of his favorites on the menu. He devoured every bite of it and was very pleased with the tenderness of the beef and the flavor of the au jus. I ordered the Short Rib Benedict as I eyed it a few weeks back. It did not disappoint! Plenty of shredded, perfectly cooked short rib was on a bed of crispy hash browns. Two poached eggs covered in hollandaise sauce sat nicely on top of this amazing dish. It was heaven! Based on the above, I trust you can understand why I love this place. Outdoor seating, exemplary service each and every time I visit and food that is picture-perfect and tastes outstanding. What more could you ask for?! I highly recommend the Briarpatch!

I wish I knew his name, but I loved his service. The wine and the espresso martini were really good. My girlfriend, especially like the espresso martini and its blend of liquor with the tartness. In terms of the food, it was all really wonderful. The chicken and dumplings came with this delicious sauce that I couldn't get enough off. The potato dumplings were alright, but the seasoning and mix of the sauce was perfect for the chicken. The serving size was good as well and there was barely any bone to interrupt eating it. My girlfriend said that the steak was cooked perfectly medium as they asked. The steak sauce paired really well, and they had enough for leftovers, and enjoyed it even more the day after. The Mac & cheese was alright, we just wish there had been more of a crunch to the cheese. However, we both really liked the shape of the pasta as we don't really see those as often. Also not depicted here, but we got the cocktail shrimp. My girlfriend loved this one too, specifically noting how large and cold the shrimps were. The cocktail sauce was delicious and had a nice kick to it, and definitely squeeze the lemon that comes with it on the shrimp. Since it was an anniversary, they surprised us with complimentary dessert that was phenomenal. My girlfriend doesn't really like cheesecake or coconut, but somehow loved the dessert. It's an off menu item but it blends coconut, cheesecake, and a brownie.

I went on a 7:30 Saturday evening and was greeted by a hostess who took me to a large table. I decided on their signature black diamond martini (13.50), which was boozy enough with the sweetness of pineapple. For the appetizer, I chose their tortilla chicken soup, which was a Mexican fiesta of flavors with shredded chicken, tortilla bits, cream, and spices. It was flavorful and a little heavy. For my entree, I took the shrimp and salmon. The salmon was moist with the chimichurri sauce, and same with the shrimp. The broccoli was the included vegetable and was steamed nicely. The ancient grains were a bit gritty, but still enjoyable. The salmon and shrimp were grilled to perfection. For dessert, I had to take the creme brulee cheesecake, which had the torched sugar crust with the sinfully sweet cheesecake. All were enjoyable for the 3 course menu. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was upscale without being stuffy. There are TVs at the bar and even at the check in counter. Wine and liquors were displayed on the walls. The dining area was spacious, and even outdoor seating was offered. Parking was not difficult as there was a Fresh Market lot as well. I was quite impressed with Firebirds as they have good quality food and drinks, and offered the 3 course menu. It reminds me of a steakhouse version of Bonefish Grill. I also enjoyed the smoky aroma when entering. It is a nice steakhouse in the Winter Park area. Overall: A-

Other than that, it was fine. Cool place to relax, get a burger, and a cocktail.
