    Price list February 2018

What you need to know: - Right off the Manhattan Bridge bike path - The front sign says Off The Bridge Coffee, so I actually thought it was just a coffee shop! But it is also a kick-ass bike repair shop. - The owner Qian (pronounced Chi-En) is super awesome and treats you like an old friend. - Accepts credit cards - Qian seemed genuinely concerned about my safety and my bike, instead of just trying to up-sell things to me. He meticulously emailed me a list of things that I should replace in order of urgency and the price break-down. What I ordered: - I got a flat tire riding over the Manhattan bridge and Qian not only replaced my tube, but then he spent an inordinate amount of time picking out all the little glass and pebbles that got embedded in my tire. He used a small pick and then also patched up a part of my tire that got really punctured. I was completely floored by his attentiveness and tender care! Price for tube was $6 and labor was $12. - Qian spent the time educating (not in a condescending mansplaining way) how bike shops sell bikes and don't tell people simple ways to maintain their bikes. As a result, it can lead to expensive repairs and replacements. He is a very awesome guy!

The only fresh brewed coffee you will find in this area of town. You would never know it was a coffee spot if not for the super small sign way below eye level. This was a true Yelp find. Coffee was on point. Irving Farms apparently somewhere in NY is the roaster. I was hoping for a latte but they do not have an espresso machine.

Cheap fast place to get your bike fixed on the spot. The main guy is is kind. Good service. He even went the extra mile to pit rivits in my crank. Would come back again.

Inside this shop, there is a bike repair section shared in this space. As informed by the employee, this coffee joint has been open for only 13 days...I needed a quick pick me up for a stressful long day and the coffee got me wired. I got exactly what I came for. I got the large cold brew coffee which already has espresso shots mixed in for $4. There was no half and half but whole milk. soy and almond milk. The guy helping me was very nice. Its location is convenient for me so I'd definitely be coming by and supporting this local coffee shop!

Best bike shop in the area. Qian knows his stuff and never tries to upsell more than is needed. Highly recommended.

TLDR: asked for a simple tire tube replacement, left with damaged carbon rims…read more I usually do my repairs myself, but didn't have any tools today, so I figured a tire tube replacement is a pretty dead simple job that any bike shop can handle. I walked into Enoch's shop last week, and he quoted me $15 and 10 minutes, and I said sure. As the service continued, I became progressively more apprehensive, but was too polite to tell him "Sorry, I don't trust you anymore. Can we stop?" 1. He clamped my titanium bike on the seattube. One should always clamp on the seatpost, so if any crush damage occurs, it would be easily replaceable. Luckily there was no damage here, but he would have crushed a carbon fiber frame. 2. Unluckily for me, I have carbon fiber wheels. He used a steel vise grip to pull the tire off the rim... I've never had to use anything other than plastic tire levers to get my tire off. This caused dent damage on my flawless carbon rim, as you can see in the attached photo (I did not know this damage occurred until after I already left the shop). I do not know if the damage is just cosmetic or structural, and I will need to contact the manufacturer. 3. When he reattached the wheel to the bicycle, he rested the chain not on the cog, but past the cog on the rear axle, then stretched my rear triangle to handle the extra width, then tightened it down (this I also did not realize until after I had left). This is basic, and so obvious. If he had simply turned the pedal at all, he would see that it's not driving the wheel... When I discovered this, I ran home to get my multitool to relieve the tension on my frame and set it properly. Luckily this does not seem to be permanent damage, as the back wheel still seems aligned properly. If I had a carbon frame, he would have snapped it. At the end he said "I'll need to charge you more, $20, because this took a long time and was very hard". So I came in for a tire tube repair, and left with potentially hundreds of dollars in damage (still awaiting manufacturer reply if the rim is unsafe to ride or not). I made a mistake of bringing something nice here, don't make the same mistake yourself.

I've been coming to Bicycle Habitat for a few years now, and have been meaning to write them up. The person who helped me the most here is Matt. Matt is very personable and knowledgeable. The latest big thing I had done where was an annual tune up. I have a Cannondale commuter bike that had a flat. Even though my bike was bought about 8 months ago, it needed some major cleaning, minor repair work along with fixing the flat. Mechanic addressed everything and it only took a day turnaround. My bike looked basically brand new after the clean up. The other thing I want to point out is that Matt explained everything and even fixed small details like loose bolts, etc. that I overlooked. They also have a good selection of accessories and maintenance supplies and will help answer questions.

Since it's a busy spring weekend, I called back today just to verify they could still fit me in before I made the trip. The employee who answered, Christina, was incredibly rude from the start. She kept talking over me, claiming she "heard FRAME" when I clearly said stem, and giving me conflicting info about needing appointments days in advance. When I mentioned the conflicting information I'd received previously, she snapped and asked, "Then why are you calling?" It's shocking to be asked that when I'm simply trying to be a responsible customer and check shop capacity. While she eventually tried to backtrack and say I could come in, her initial attitude was completely unprofessional. I hope management addresses this, as the "manners" displayed were uncalled for. I've been in car accidents, road in pouring rain, water, and mud. I've clean my bike on several occasions. But something told me that I should have an overhaul performed on my bike since I had put it through so much. Yup it took me 9 years to decide to do it. SMH. Since I live close to Conrad's and have taken other bikes that I've had to John at Conrad's, I figured why not just do the whole shebang. So John informed me that there was a crack in my carbon fiber fork. Which I was not expecting or wanting to hear. We all know that once carbon fiber is cracked, it's pretty much done. My heart broke hearing this bad news. He did give me options though. He said he would be willing to contact BMC to see if they had another fork to replace mine. But because my carbon fiber bike is 9 years old, they discontinued that particular model. Damn. Then he tried researching others bike dealers to find a fork comparable. Nada. He then told me he knew a guy that could rebuild my fork. And I agreed to have this guy build my fork. It took several weeks due to the work load because it's summer and everyone is riding. I just had to wait my turn. When I got my beautiful bike back, she was gliding everywhere I road her. It was as if I had bought a brand new BMC. And the appearance of my well cleaned and detailed bike was outstanding. I was so impressed with the quality and detailed service John and the guy who repaired my fork had done. I've never been so pleased by anyone inspecting and cleaning my bike ever. Now, I wasn't anticipating the cost of everything, but it was worth the wait and cost because I truly have a "new" bike. They did right by me and my bike. What outstanding and fantastic service. Five stars hands down. Conrad's is the best.
