I went there on a suggestion by a cyclist friend of mine. He is a pro rider so I respect his opinion. And he was not wrong! I had to have a tubeless tire replaced with a new one and most places told me I could leave it with them and pick it up sometime in the next few days or so. Here they told me to wait and did it in 15 minutes. And the work is great, the price was great, the people who work there are great...what else to say? Very solid bike place and I will be back.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bike rental rates are reasonable. Will definitely come back here.

What an easy and pleasant experience. Walked in on a weekday around 11:00 am and found out that instead of $6/hour it would be $5/hour. Awesome. Renting the bikes is painless, fill out a short form, get your bikes and helmets and off you go. Locks cost extra, but we were only going to be at Central Park, so it wasn't necessary. Central Park is only a 5 minute bike ride from Liberty Bicycles. There are a lot of places that you can rent from that are actually at the park - but after some research it seemed like those places were a bit shady. We did see some of those bike rental places and our bikes were in much better condition! We were back after two hours of biking the entire park. You pay when you return the bikes, another painless process. I would happily use Liberty Bicycles again.

Rental Bikes. Bike lock wrapped around the seat of the red bike.

Ask the Community - Liberty Cycles

Are y'all renting bikes in June?

Yes, we are still renting bikes. They are disinfected each time they are returned.

How much do you charge for a basic tune up? Checking Brakes, gears, tires etc ? Thanks !

A basic tune-up costs $60. You can find a description of what's included on our website.

How much are they for...the second hand bikes?

We occasionally sell our rental bikes as second hand.

Do you have child seats or trailers to rent too?

We rent child seats on a first-come, first-served basis (walk-ins only). We do not rent trailers, however.

At no point should bolts randomly fling off your bike while you going down the Brooklyn bridge going 24mph. I'm a high school student and I had to pay for my bike with my own money. I've been working since 10th grade to help my mom because she is a single parent so for me the loss of about 5k including repairs leave me without transportation as I can not afford to repair it at this point. I've spent 3.7k on a bike, this isn't including the repairs i had to pay over the span of a year which amount to at least 1.4k+ after random bolts detaching and motor failing, and as soon as the warranty expired my bike had a random electrical issue where the bike wouldn't accelerate. From the owner Pete: OK, where are you going? (Direct email sent from owner) 1- Last Mile NYC replaces all of the electronics on your bike. The cost of the parts and labor is $2910.54 2- Send your bike back to Super73. They will do their own diagnosis, and determine the issues and fix the problems. Unfortunately your bike is not under warranty, the cost of packing up and freighting your bike to and from Super73 will be around $1200. Plus their diagnostic fee, parts and labor. He quoted me $100 to replace the spokes on my back wheel and $120 with the derailleur repair. When I went to pick it up he wanted $210 for a host of unauthorized repairs. At my normal shop, this repair on the spokes would have cost less than $50. When I refused the extra charges he took the chain and derailleur off and gave me mine back back in a plastic bag (did not put them back on). When I refused the additional charges he said that the quote I got was just an estimate, even though he never contacted me about the additional charges in advance. He condescended to me about how much work it took for him to replace the spokes. He also adjusted my breaks which I did not ask him to do and now my front break is very loose and I need at least 30 feet to stop now - very dangerous. My back wheel where he replaced the spokes was left with damage (filed down with scratches, pictured), and is now very misaligned. Very turbulent ride home - I will need to take it elsewhere for additional repair. He did a host of unauthorized repairs, like drilling into my rims to replace my regular spokes with heavy gauge spokes which he tried to charge me extra for and said I had 'no class' for complaining. I did not say anything about the Chinese per his response that is defamatory. I did curse him out - which he deserved. He did not communicate with me at all during the repair, never asked me if he adjust my breaks, drill into my rims or replace my chain. He also removed an old display which I did not ask him to do and tried to charge me for it. Con. Rudely made me wait 23 minutes outside the storage unit he operates out of to bring my bike down, even though he told me what time to pick it up and I was on time.

Bicycle Habitat - Matt did a thorough analysis and explained the work needed on my bike, as well as a cost estimate so I wasn't hit with any unexpected costs.

I had previously tried getting a bike from the Specialized store on the UWS and while they were friendly, their service times left a lot to be desired. Same goes for Hilltop in Williamsburg (also owned by Specialized) - those guys treated me like I was a sale/noob and really couldn't have cared less about figuring out what was "right" for me given I wasn't going to be buying a bike from them. Nice guys, but once again - backed up for weeks on the service side of things. Back to Bicycle Habitat - Matt and the team were awesome. Took their time with me after a build and helped me get sorted with both shoes and clips - adjusted my bike a bit and really made sure I got some practice clipping in/out and that I was all set to go before walking out the door. All in all spent over an hour in the shop both chatting with the guys and getting set up with the new bike. I will 100000% be bringing any and all future bike needs to the shop and will be making it known to friends/fellow bikers that this is the place to go. More than happy to support the shop - 5 star service and looking forward to my next return.
