I've passed by and seen the long line before so today I decided to stop by and see what is up...I ordered the Triple Threat: ribs, sliced brisket and dark chicken with coleslaw and mac&cheese. As for the food, my favorite was the ribs and brisket. The coleslaw is good even though I have never had it with raisins in it but the mac&cheese was not flavorful at all. We also got cole slaw, corn on the cob and potato salad. Now like I said, I love BBQ and I know some awesome BBQ and some not-so-awesome BBQ. This is one place that is right in the middle. The ribs were not falling "off the bone", the sliced beef was pretty tough, and the sausage was good, but definitely not the best I've ever had. Yet, all the meat had the nice smoky flavor and the sauce, well you might have to have an acquired taste for it. It was good, but off at the same time. Lol. Order at the register and they also have a drive-thru ("ghetto" system might I add) Ordered ribs and brisket with coleslaw and Mac & cheese. Ribs 100% needed sauce. Judging by these reviews it seems that some days are better than others here. (But maybe that's true of all barbeque restaurants.) We must have hit them on a very good day--the brisket and ribs were smoky, moist, and tender. Does it matter if the meat was lukewarm instead of hot? The sides were adequate but nothing spectacular. The only issue I personally had is that I don't like celery seeds in my cole slaw. Eddie, the owner, is a super-nice guy, and he made the rounds of the "dining room," checking to see if everyone was enjoying the food. Its all about the ribs! Brisket was good, lots of smoke flavor but not as moist as it could have been. But the ribs, WOW, its definitely all about the ribs. They are fairly small in size but very meaty, fall of the bone tender, good smoke flavor and cooked to perfection. Had the potato salad and the fried okra. The potato salad was fairly pedestrian. This BBQ is among the best in Tarrant County. I've been eating here for over 10 years and the meats have never disappointed. The chopped beef is amazing because it's chopped and mixed with the house BBQ sauce (which is available for purchase in bottles) and kept hot until you order. This allows the meat to continue to render its fat, leaving tender juicy chopped brisket. The sausage is another of my favorites because it is made with chunks of meat and spices and smoked to perfection. Friday's are special because they serve catfish. The fish is perfectly coated with cornmeal and has a nice "snap". Fillets are thick and tasty the hush puppies are delicious. House made pepper sauce is an excellent complement to the fish. Sides are about average; although the cole slaw is made in house and includes raisins and crushed pineapple. This is not fast food but is well worth the wait.
