Cousins is quietly raising the bar in our opinion. Every time we go, it seems to get better and better. The staff is awesome and the food is seemingly getting better and better. I especially like the cole slaw. The brisket is also great (make sure to get the moist) read more

This was the closest restaurant that carried Sausage so, I made a way to Cousin's. I drove up and noticed they had a sign that read by one Sandwich Plate Get one Free! That sounded good. When, I placed my order, the blushing Hispanic girl said," you have to wait til, 4 pm to order. They could not ring me up either. Another girl with Bling nails said, "at 4pm she could place the order in the system. Bummer. I waited a few minutes and noticed it was nice and clean in there with some good Christmas Decor. Prices have increased tremendously and the Menu is handwritten on Brown Butcher paper. It makes it hard to read. I chose the Sausage plate . You can chose what type of bread you would like, White, Wheat, Texas Toast, Bun or no bun. I asked for Wheat but, I got White Texas Toast. It was really good, fresh, lightly toasted and buttered just right. The Sausage was a Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage. It was proportion just right. For a side, I chose Potato Salad. It was a tiny container with chunks of Potatoes and Mayonnaise. I was disappointed with the appearance. There was no site of mustard? I loved their special, their food was tasty and the restaurant was spacious and clean. Check them out, they have been in business for awhile now and continue to grow. read more

The brisket is amazing here. Get it moist if you don't know, that's the way to get it. This the original location so that is why their smokers pump out such great brisket, they have more flavor baked in from years of smoking. Just a little secret. Great art and antiques on display. Such a great value vs all the overpriced fancy stuff that comes into town. Really warm welcome from the staff. Just has the family feel to it. My ribs were good and the sides great too. read more

I hadn't eaten at Cousins since the late 90's. My brother in law wanted to try it so we did. It was nothing like I remember. First the ribs. The sauce flavor was too with a hint of sweetness however the back side of the ribs were fatty. Not just a little fat. Either the ribs weren't trimmed well or the fat wasn't able to render properly due to being pulled off too soon. The brisket was dry as dust. I took one bite and just no. I have never had brisket so dry. The beans were good, a savory flavor, well seasoned. The bread was a large portion and tasted buttery. The potato salad wasn't my personal preference but everyone has their own way of making potato salad and this wasn't it for me. The portion for the price was decent but the food overall just wasn't good. Service was good at the to go counter. I did find it odd that the guy was bragging about being in the bbq business since the 80's but served dry brisket. We won't be back. read more

We ate at the Cousin's in Ft. Worth last night. I ordered the $38 rib eye steak. They slapped a hunk of butter Chipotle on it which I wouldn't have added. Should have been on the side. But the worst of it is, I had to spit out half the bites into a napkin because it was so tough and stringy, even though it came medium rare, that I could only actually swallow half the steak. read more

The buy 1 get 1 free meat plate Wednesday special drew me in. It's a great value, as are their other specials (at this location only ). Cousinstxbbq is a beacon of generational traditions and family recipes and has been for over 30 years. Recently - We visited Cousin's main location for their New School Tray & desserts. Brisket, Pork ribs, Sausages, Smoked Fried Wings, Fried mac & chorizo balls, Brisket poppers with two sides. This tray is a beast y'all. Perfect for BBQ enthusiast or anyone ready to eat good. Cousins BBQ operates with an inclusive business culture open to new ideas and cultural influences from their staff. I was delighted to be offered a taste of their smoked sirloin steak. First and last time going to cousins bbq. Ribs were not good too taste, brisket was dry as can be, okra had too much salt to eat. "Texas toast" was cooked on one side. Mac and cheese could have come in a box and it would have been better. If I see anyone eating this bbq, im smacking it out their hand. read more

$42.13 for two modest lunches. The ribs were dry and you had to literally gnaw them off the bone but the beans and Mac & cheese were good. It was our first experience with Cousin's and honestly due mainly to the prices, I'd rather not go back. Rudy's is better and cheaper. read more

I got the two meat plate with brisket (moist) and jalapeño and cheddar sausage with collard greens and Mac n cheese. Brisket was cooked to perfection. Sausage was a little on the dry side but when dipped in the bbq sauce, it was outstanding. Greens had a bit of a kick to em-so good. Mac n cheese was very good cheesy deliciousness. The staff was helpful and service was quick. read more

Rolled into Cousin's BBQ hungry and left in a happy food coma. Got the 2-meat plate with ribs and German sausage--both were smoky, juicy, and basically a Texas hug in food form. The baked beans were sweet and sassy, and the coleslaw was cool and crisp, and the Texas toast? Golden, buttery perfection. Washed it all down with sweet tea. Overall, great food, fast and friendly service, and a true Texas BBQ atmosphere. I'll definitely be back! read more

So I've lived in the neighborhood for almost 2 years and really want to rep Ft Worth I decided to start with BBQ. Now I live only 5mins away and I passed this place over 500 times and never saw it but I YELP'd some BBQ and here they were. So I did a curbside pickup and ordered the 2 meat brisket and ribs with potato salad and Texas corn(that's what they call it) and in 25 mins my order was ready. I think for $22 my beef should have been a little bigger but it was pretty good, nice and tender and flavorful, the ribs though slightly tough was beaming with dry rubbed flavor. It truly was bursting with flavor, the potato salad was bland but I topped it off with the chopped sweet TX onions(assuming of course) but the show stopper was that TX corn!!! Can I tell you I'm not a major fan but this corn exploded with flavor, spice and amazing spicy notes that I will def go back for that 4 sure. read more

Ordered 2 meat plate, ribs and brisket. Never disappoints. We have been eating here for years and will continue coming back.

One of the 2013 Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints, which vanished from the list in 2017 and did not reappear in 2021. This was our 93rd 'cue stop in the Lone Star state, and the 383rd in a BBQ jaunt embracing 35 states. We found the 'cue here to be very good; indeed, we would rate it higher than what is on offer at over a dozen of the places on TMM's list. The menu here offers real strength from top to bottom. $46.02 purchased a brisket and jalapeno sausage sandwich with housemade fries, a Bev's smokehouse salad top with sliced brisket, a second side of Texas street corn, and a banana pudding. The salad was huge, fresh, and topped with brisket that was well smoked, with terrific bark; it was moist and tender even at five in the afternoon. The sausage also proved top notch, with good snap and sharp flavor. Both the fries and the street corn were excellent, and the banana pudding was so good that we went back and got a second order to go. We call this "destination 'cue," and we strongly recommend that our fellow 'cue fanatics give it a try. read more

I wanted ribs tonight and had sticker shock! They were dryer than I remember and the potato salad has no mustard! The potato salad would have been better if it were German style or traditional, not this Mayonnaise mess, the slaw was not sweet as I remember. Wow have they improved their brisket and sides. We ordered 2 pounds of sliced brisket last week for a gift for a buddy of ours. Our fingers were crossed. Would Cousins come through? YES!! We have never had better brisket anywhere in our lives. It was scrumptious. Great Bark. Tenders but not falling apart. Just right. Tangy sauce on the side and well, folks we ate a bunch of it and had to go back and get more for a friend's gift. Go Cousins! Go. Great job. Photo? Are you kidding me? There wasn't anything left but the butcher paper! read more

My family and I have been going to Cousin's since the 80s. I got some takeout the other night and I think we've had enough. Cousin's used to be my favorite BBQ. I've heard that the family doesn't own it anymore, and you can definitely tell by how much it's gone downhill. The brisket tasked ok but was super dry and sliced too thin. The prices have gone way up, which I understand since the cost of everything is going up, but it's definitely not worth what you pay as the portions have gone down in size. Side items used to come in a little white styrofoam cup, now they come in a little black plastic cup that is a lot smaller. They only give you one jello shot size thing of sauce per meal, so I usually have to ask for more. They've recently changed the potato salad and it wasn't as good. You can no longer get a quarter white meat chicken, and if you want a three item combo with chicken as one of the meats, then it has to count as two meats because they will only do it by the half chicken. They don't have the choice of side items that they used to have either. They no longer ha e turkey or ham either, both of which I frequently would get. I will say that the broccoli rice casserole and the loaded baked potato are still as good as always. And we really like the smoked wings. Their sauce is great too, it's my favorite BBQ sauce. But sadly it is just gone down too far in quality, gone way up in price, and the portion sizes have gone down. I don't mind paying more for something that is good quality and a good value, but sadly they are neither. I hope they read these comments and try to improve it to how it used to be. read more

First time in Texas. First time in Fort Worth. First Texas bbq place ever visited. Very overwhelming. Choices of plates(single with 1,2, or 3 sides; combo plates with 1,2, or 3 sides, rib plates, pork rib plates, California doesn't see smoked bbqed beef ribs often. I had my two youngest w me(one who is vegan) & ny elderly mother. The man behind the counter propped up this huge (almost 3lb beef rib) on top of the counter's scale. It looked huge, moist, and nicely smoked. So I took that with 3 sides and we were all stuffed(my daughter fr the mac N cheese). The rest of us off of beef rib sandwiches we made with whole wheat buns. The place was not crowded as it was early afternoon. With two Mexican bottled sodas, water, it came out to about $65. read more

This place is amazing! After visiting the Ft. Worth botanical gardens, I decided to try out one more BBQ place before we travelled to our next stop. We got there right as they opened, thus beating the crowd. We ordered the Three Meat choice which included 3 slices of brisket, 2 pork ribs and 1 german sausage. We got two sides with that but we wanted to try more so we had coleslaw (of course), collard greens, their creamed corn, and potato salad. All were wonderful. The slaw was especially good. Now, the meats: brisket was tender and very flavorful, the ribs were meaty and tasty, and my wife (the sausage savant) thought the sausage was fabulous. Great service at the order counter (it's a walk-up, order and take to your table place). Friendly and upbeat. Clean and neat. Great photos and illustrations all over the walls made for some perfect atmosphere. We highly recommend this place! read more

Cousin's Bar-B-Q - 3-meat plate, brisket, ribs, sausage - Barbeque Near Me - Fort Worth, Texas

Was on my way home and a craving for bbq hit me! The location closest to my home is closed for renovations so to Fort Worth I went! I entered and was immediately greeted and took notice of how clean the establishment was. I got in line and was able to get a glimpse of ribs. I made the decision in that moment that I would be eating ribs AND sliced brisket. I was told that the person in front of me ordered the last of the ribs and that more would be ready in 10 minutes so I decided to dine in. I ordered potato salad and broccoli cheese casserole. For dessert, I grabbed a huge chocolate chip cookie with nuts. I was offered a complimentary drink for my wait which I graciously accepted. My food was brought to the table and the presentation was picture worthy. I bit into the rib and had to use a napkin to wipe the tears of joy running from my eyes. The rib was FLAVORFUL, hot and tender. It's nothing like craving something, getting it and the food hitting the spot! 4 stars? Mostly everything was perfect except the broccoli cheese casserole. There was NO flavor whatsoever but everything else made up for that one dish. I'll definitely return and will just stick to potato salad as the side. read more

The food was good, I had their 2 combination plate with pulled pork and cut beef. I was there with a client that made the suggestion to eat lunch here. The place is famous, they have many pictures on the wall with former presidents and famous people. The meat was really good, they had a good slaw but I wasn't to happy with the broccoli rice option.
