It's been a long time since I was last here. Whatsamatta wid me? I learned about the Friday pork chop special from a Facebook post this past week and we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. We arrived close to 11:30 and already the parking lot was practically full. But inside there were yet a good number of tables available in this expansive venue. You seat yourself and very shortly a cheerful server appears bearing menus to take your drink order. The beer offerings are mainline (no craft beers) but the prices are perhaps the least expensive in Fort Worth and the draft beer is ice cold served in frosted schooners. A+. There is both a red and white wine available. Our drinks came out pretty promptly. We wanted to try Sammie's Texas Twinkie as well as the pork chop. The Twinkie came right out, but before we could halve it to share our orders hit the table. I ate my half of the Twinkie first and was pretty much full at that point with this humongous pork chop, basically half a pig, sitting in front of me. But being the BBQ warrior I am I persevered and proceeded to carve slivers from the chop to eat. The chop is remarkably moist and perfectly tender. This has to be some primo pork. And the cooking is exceptionally well done. How do they do this for twenty bucks... and with two sides?! As I've suggested I could not eat a lot (I didn't even touch my two sides, they went home with us). When I got home I weighed my chop... 1 lb and 12 oz! What the heck did it weigh to start with? Well anyway, I have like three more meals! LOL. By the time we left about 12:45 the store was slammed. This is clearly a very popular spot and it is obvious why! I see the Friday pork chop here as a frequent lunch in our future. read more

Great daily specials especially the Friday pork chop. The serving is definitely a good sharing portion on top of the two side that comes with it. The bar was very lovely when we visited on a Friday for late lunch, early dinner. This BBQ spot is definitely a hidden gem with all the bbq spots we have here in town. It's worth a visit whenever in the area. No lines, just great specials. read more

When in FW, you wouldn't think about Sammie's when you're hungry for bbq. I honestly have never heard of this place until it was pointed out to me while driving by going to lunch to another place. Thankful to have found this, as this maybe one of those places where only locals knew about. We had our second lunch here after the planned lunch. lol. We shared their Friday Pork chop special. 2 inch chop, smoked to perfection which came with 2 sides for $19.99. This chop blew that steakhouse (iykyk) pork chop special out of the water that a lot of people talked about. The service was average, it wasn't a line that you go thru to get food. You sit down and they'll help you with ordering. The place was a bit loud with music as it look like this is an after work watering hole place with good bbq for locals. As a bbq snob, I'm scratching my head because I really like this place and would like to comeback for more. read more

If you're lucky enough to meet Sam the former owner of the smoke pit just a couple miles down the road. As we all were saddened to see The Smoke Pit close, everyone is equally excited for the new ownership of Sammie's. Beautiful building, makes you think you are not in downtown funky town. Classic BBQ served right. ICE COLD mugs of beer and delicious bbq to go with. The service is always superior and the women know how to use the southern charm to make the meal special. Don't miss out on Sammie's! read more

Sammie’s BBQ - COLD BEERS! - Barbeque Near Me - Fort Worth, Texas

The food was pretty dang good for a local barbecue place, not my favorite barbecue however, if you want barbecue on the cheap, this is your place to go! I could not believe how shockingly cheap the beer was and it's very cold and on draft ! mac n cheese was really good. Green beans were really good. Brisket was alright not bad at all. just liked their barbecue sauce or Sammie sauce on it. Maybe a little dry, the ribs I would say are overcooked. It didn't fall off the bone as much as I wanted or had a little bit too much fat on it. Turkey was awesome. Bartenders were super friendly and fast, great service overall! When you walk in pick a table or seat at the bars and they will come to you! Ambience was a nice, clean, well lit BBQ spot playing football on TV read more

This place is excellent, beautiful women serving ice cold beer. The views are amazing, and the food itself is good as well

Just had Sammie's for the first time.... WOW!! I would eat 5 brisket sandwiches if I wouldn't get full or fat. This is incredible! I will be back tomorrow! read more

The best way for me to describe this place is that it's nothing fancy and everything friendly. A cold draft beer, good BBQ, and an honest comfy feel is why I'll choose to return here instead of other popular barbeque businesses. Be sure not to skip their sausage, fried okra, and a $3 schooner! And I have to say, if you don't want beer, that's okay. Water, tea, and/or soft drinks will come in Texas-sized cups with the same genuine smile. read more

Stopped by today with a friend for lunch. First thing I noticed was the service we received was really good. The timing was good never trying to rush you and made sure you had what you needed. I actually think the ambiance was typical for older Texas bbq joints, so that's cool. The food though... we had the special of the day which was a pulled pork sandwich with fries (Some may argue that pulled pork isn't bbq, that's fine) but it was good. Everything was fresh and the temperature it should be served at. I'll be back to try brisket and ribs next time. read more

Authentic, delicious BBQ. I'm a Ft. Worth resident of sixty plus years, and this landmark restaurant is my top favorite choice for Texas Bar-B-Q. The beef rib's plate is my favorite. All offered sides are delicious. The ambiance is spectacular, featuring western art and historic landmark vintage memorabilia. An outside dining patio is lovely. The staff and servers are Texas friendly and efficient to all dining details. The restaurant's environment is the perfect setting for family and friends photos! Enjoy. read more

I've been trying to get to as many of the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ spots as possible since the list came out. This place is not on the list--and I'm not saying that it should be since TM has a process. I AM SAYING that it was dadgum good. Any place that's been doing it since 1946 must be doing something right. The Tuesday Rib Special for $14.99 was more ribs than I could eat. The pinto beans were super. The $3.50 cherry cobbler was big enough to share. What's not to like? I'll be back. read more

Great food, great schooner ice cold beer, great service and great value! It's definitely worth a visit!

This place was a huge disappointment. The ribs are dry and likely leftovers from who knows when. Inedible! The potato salad is just loose mashed potatoes, and the Mac had no cheese. The brisket was just okay. 0/10 recommend. read more

Good BBQ. But if you can go on a Friday you have to try the smoked pork chop. It's huge and delicious!

We held our Carter-Riverside 50th high school reunion at Sammies last night. Sammie & Mackenzie (they are so nice) provided the perfect place for our class to gather. The buffet meal (brisket, sausage & chicken, potato salad & green beans) was outstanding & affordable. Everything was fresh, hot, & delicious! The atmosphere was just perfect for our group. The bar waitstaff were top notch providing fast, friendly service. Can't wait to book our next reunion there! I highly recommend Sammies for any & all party types. read more

Sorry guys but my food was burnt. The onion rings were over cooked and had a burnt taste. The brisket tasted the same, it was too well done. It also had a lot of inedible fat on the meat. Gave two stars purely on the wonderful customer service. They were very nice and sweet in the drive threw. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

Sammie’s BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Fort Worth, Texas

Good chopped brisket sandwich only wished they had steak fries but they ran out for the day ‍. I would go back for another try.

Combined from former Sammie's and the big pit from down the street that has been razed. Daily lunch specials Thursday half or quarter chicken, Friday 2" pork chop or loin, and others. Good onion rings, (Frings are half Or and half fries). Ribs both their great original dry rub with thin sauce, and option of thicker sauces often a day a week. Large space, bar side or dining, plus the patio. Plenty of friendly smiling servers, they will keep glasses, water, ice tea, or beer refilled. Worth going a few blocks north of 121, past the chain stores to this personal place. Just a block toward downtown from Beach street. read more

Go on Friday and get the pork chop. Trust me, it's well worth it. Service was good. Onion rings were different, but good. But the pork chop.... Juicy, tender, smoky but not overly smoky, tasty, and huuuuge. Oh man, the pork chop. It was a VERY pleasant surprise for my first time being there. They may only serve it on Friday (I'm not sure) so don't shoot me if you go any other day and it's not on the menu. read more

Sammie’s BBQ - Pork chop, onion rings, Mac and cheese - Barbeque Near Me - Fort Worth, Texas

Nice spot for meat eaters that enjoys a quiet area. They don't have any vegetarian options. Their sides are good but wouldn't suggest the onion rings. Reasonable prices for today's economy. Nice for family with kids and meeting casually for a first date. There is a bar area for beer drinkers mostly. Overall it's okay to enjoy a lunch or find a place to eat with kids on a budget. ENJOY! read more
