Love this place! One of the better BBQ experience from their extra friendly staff to the amount of food we've got, it's a must visit if you're in DFW. We came from the Stockyards hungry. We got some beers. There's a special where you can get like a rib and beer or something. We got the beef rib, it was running out by 1pm and the bartender saved one for us. We also got the pork ribs, and turkey. Their pork ribs were super meaty and tasty. Their sides were so good! Especially their garlic Mac and cheese. They also just put out a bunch of bread and pickles where you can get as much as you like. The manager came around asking if we were good and he let us each try a burnt end. Fantastic BBQ! My favorite in our BBQ tour. Sat at the bar and got some good brews, bartender was new and fun. We got the last beef rib, some turkey, pork ribs, and brisket. Best BBQ! Heim was a less than stellar experience. It's a nice location, but the food just isn't that great. Large portions just didn't make up for the food. It fell flat. Slaw was bland, okra was ok, mac'n'cheese was just not good. In addition, I wasn't able to order the slider combo with turkey (the only options are red meat/pork), but you can order the turkey sliders for the kids meal. This means, they can in fact make turkey sliders. But they can't and won't make them for the regular slider meal. Honestly, it's a bit backwards. Maybe another location will taste better, but we all left feeling less than satisfied. read more

I literally got done having lunch at another place...then went here afterwards (just) to try it. I can tell you...this place is an excellent one. - Rib: great bark and a great taste. You couldn't have cooks that rib to an any better doneness. - bacon burnt ends: Now, these might not be for anybody...as they are super rich and fatty. But these were another winning dish. Great bark. Great seasoning but with a touch of candied sweetness. And again...a cook level that had these being rendered...but not all chewy and dried out. Now, I didn't have the brisket....but I saw it on about every table. I don't have to try that one..to know that brisket would be awesome. Heim BBQ is the food I'm going to miss when I go back home to California, and the same goes for you! The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and their prices are great for the quality of food you get! My Dad and I got their $10 meat sampler (M-F Heim Time), with onion rings. The onion rings were crispy consistently in a beer batter fry, and the star of the show.. the platter! The brisket, burnt bacon ends, and ribs just FALL apart! Butter knives are offered to cut your food... that is how confident they are in their food! The house bbq sauce is the perfect amount of sweet with a slow creeping heat! So, wow, been a long time. Left first review when the trailer was still going. Opened several locations, then a couple years ago Heim stepped away and the business partner/investor took over. Over the years, the BBQ stayed pretty consistent, but when he left is when things went different. The few times I've been in to get things still okay, but not what it used to be, which is a hard thing to keep consistent with multiple locations. (but, Terry Blacks doesn't seem to have that problem? Huh, I dunno) Anyway, hadn't had a Heim burger and fries since he left, so went in to grab one the other day. First thing I noticed, no more fresh cut, some of the best damn fries in town, anymore. Replaced by frozen. I started eating the burger, then noticed taste, then looked, then ate around the edges, because as you can see in the pics, at least 90% or more of the patty was RAW. I honestly couldn't believe it. At that point I was put off, and I didn't even care about getting another one. I ate the fries, which weren't terrible for frozen but nothing like the good ole days. I dropped the tray at the counter, staff looked at me, I said "basically raw". The cashier had a horrified look, the manager (I guess?) asked what I got, I said "the burger" and started walking away. Nothing was said, no "wait, let's make this right" or anything. Not a word. I didn't care really for a refund anyway, cause then that would make me feel bad for all the bitching I'm going to be doing for awhile. Anyway, it was a good run, and pretty sure Heim BBQ is still doing good business. But I'm pretty much gone for good now. Can't wait for Heim to open his pizza business in a few months. Pretty sure he'll be making a killer burger and fries also. read more

Listen y'all this is damn good bbq. I rarely buy the sause at the restaurant because it's normally middle of the road and not great. But this place? With exception of their cole slaw (which sucks and y'all need to either change it or get rid of it entirely) this place is amazing. The pork belly burnt ends are some of the most delicious little bites I've had. Their brisket is moist and delicious. Sausage? Delicious. Sandwiches? Delicious. Onion rings? Also damn good. Only thing I hate is their slaw. It is lacking any real favor and just really is a blemish on an otherwise great restaurant. I will eat here every time I am in town. read more

Ribs were tender as well as the brisket. The pinto bea s are just that, so don't order if you think they will be similar to baked beans. The pulled pork was tender but needed mor seasoning. Having never been to Heim before: I wasn't planning on eating here two days in a row, that's just how it worked out. Friday (business lunch): Two meat late with ribs and Texas sausage with Mac and cheese and coleslaw as sides. Ribs were very tasty, I was a bit disappointed that there were only two because they were so good. Texas sausage was great, very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Coleslaw was good, had a nice "crunch". Mac and cheese definitely needed more cheese. Saturday (family day): Two meat plate again. This time half chicken and again the Texas sausage. Chicken was seasoned very well & had a nice kick to it as well. Not dry at all, which has been my experience elsewhere. Sides this time were fried okra and again with the coleslaw. Okra was great, perfect seasoning. I'm kind of happy this place is nowhere close to work or home because I could easily see myself going broke eating here. This is the 1st time I've ever bought a seasoning from a restaurant to attempt to recreate a flavor profile at home. The service is good, you order at the counter and they bring your meal. They also tell you to leave your tray when done so they clean up. Your job as a customer is to just enjoy the meal. read more

My wife and I have been to Heim Barbecue a few times and we've always had a very good experience. The food is always tender, smoky, and delicious - not to mention they have a pretty nice bar too. I really do like everything here, but I do have 2 favorites that I have to get each time I go: 1) Brisket - juicy, tender, smoky - what more could you ask for - which leads me to my # 2. 2) Loaded Potato Skins - damn these are good. These are thinly sliced potato skins with brisket on it. Seriously the best potato skins I've ever had. We sat at the bar and our lady was named Cecilia, she was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The restaurant vibes are very chill. We ordered the bacon burnt ends( yummy!!) and the brisket (it was okay but I've had better) we also ordered green chili Mac and cheese and fried okra which were both good but didn't really stand out on it's flavor. But maybe it was an off day for them, I'm willing to try it again down the road. But it definitely wasn't better than Dayne's craft BBQ, now it's time to try Goldie's!! Heard many good things about Heim BBQ over the years. I didn't enjoy my overall meal. I purchased the 3 meats that include 2 sides for $29.99. Texas-style sausage, twice baked potato salad, and BBQ sauce were good. Green chili mac 'n' cheese wasn't creamy or cheesy. It was DRY! I was given mac 'n' cheese instead of the green chili mac 'n' cheese I ordered. Pork ribs were mid with a smokey pepper flavor. Pissed, I purchased two of Robin's famous brownies. The one I opened was horrible! Crossing my fingers the other brownie tastes better, but I doubt it. Happy to see a self-serve table with bread, onions, pickles, and jalapeños. The staff were great, and I enjoyed the ambiance. The prices are better than most BBQ restaurants. Unfortunately, I won't return. There are too many good BBQ spots in the area. read more

It was 5 O clock on a Tuesday afternoon. There was already a small line. The place had a lot of people sitting down eating too. It was busy for a weekday. I discovered many things at Heim. I'll tell you what's up! The line didn't move quick enough, Employees could offer assistance to first timers instead of chatting. Cashier really nice but, didn't have the urgency to keep the line moving? They have a complimentary condiment bar which, I truly love about Heim. The CC Bar included Bread, Pickles, Onions, to go boxes, and sauce containers. This is very helpful when you get a to go plate or as your eating. The food came out quickly. I noticed they had some specials before 5:30 pm. I chose the 3 meat platter for $10.00. It was supposed to include, Ribs, Bacon Burnt Ends, and Brisket. However, they were out of short ribs. She said, she could make it a quarter lb since they were out of Ribs. I said, ok. However, she charged me for that? I thought, it would be the same price but, it wasn't? When my order came out. It was 1 large slice of Brisket and almost one half slice of Brisket. There were Five Bacon Burnt Ends. They were greasy, hearty and heavily peppered. The BBE were tender and easy to pull apart!. It was too much for me to finish. I took them to go. Not complaining. My Dad had the Potato Salad and it was not your traditional P. S.. It was a hearty portion with shredded Cheese, Chives and Sour cream that made it taste flavorless. My Dad ate all of his Beans. One time, I looked at his tray and it was full, the next time it was gone! Lol. My Brisket was tender and salty. It was easy to cut, which I appreciate! The BBQ sauce was ok, sort of tangy, not too thin or thick. Bathrooms were dirty. There was Toilet paper on the floor. Restrooms have a unique set up. There's a fam Restroom, Women's, and Men's that are all separate. However, everyone washes their hands at the same sink? It was awkward. I saw a man there the same time I was washing my hands. I was introduced to my first Texas BBQ at Heim, and this was a GREAT first experience. My friend and I came around 6:30 pm and just beat the evening crowd. Minutes after we ordered, lines were out the door and the place was packed! The meats here lived up to the hype - I loved almost everything we ordered. Burnt ends here are *chefs kiss* and the sausage was the most surprising for me. The pork loin was the only one I'd pass on - not the biggest fan of pork loin to begin with. Not worth the hype. First, if you walk into a good TX bbq restaurant and there is no line or anyone inside, during lunch rush, that's a bad sign. When our food was delivered, you could look at the brisket and tell it was dry. Actually everything was dry. Even the bacon burnt ends. It looked like it had been sliced prior and had been sitting under a heat lamp. Freshly sliced brisket should have some shine from juice, but there was 0 juice coming from it. The flavor of the brisket was good but it gets masked by the sauce that you have to put on it due to how dry it was. With all the good BBQ options in TX, don't waste your time here. The brisket and sausage were really good. They were cooked perfectly! The bbq sauce was good too, a little on the sweet side but I didn't mind. I absolutely loved the Mac and cheese. It was nice and gooey and the green chile give it a nice kick. The fries were also good, though I was so full I didn't finish them. I shared them with my coworkers. The service was good too. The food came out quick and our dirty plates were taken pretty quickly. This is one of those places where you order at the counter, so while no table service, it was still attentive. Took the family for lunch today to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was our first time to eat here. I recall there being some hype about this place and we were all rather disappointed. The food was just "mid" as the kids say these days. The fries and the fried okra were the best part of the meal -- not the best review for a BBQ joint. The brisket was forgettable. Tasted like what you would get from a chain BBQ place. The ribs were just okay. We had onion rings and the batter they use was bland. It needs some sort of seasoning in it. Not the kind you get from baking it, but the kind you get from it being prepared the day before and sitting in a warmer all night. Rather inedible. The service is nothing notable. Was in the Fort Worth area for a conference so we thought we'd get some real authentic Texan bbq. This place did not disappoint. We got the 3 meat special that included 2 sides. We tried the fatty beef brisket, texan sausage and the burnt ends. The two sides were onion rings and green chili mac and cheese. The fatty beef brisket, note the word "fatty" was yummy melt in your mouth. Some other bbq places I go to say their brisket is tender but it's dry. This is the first place I've actually had tender brisket! The texan sausage was nothing special but the burnt ends tasted like fatty sweet candy hahahah. The maple syrup was so good on them! The green chili mac and cheese was good hot, but the mac could have been a tad softer. It also doesn't taste very good when it get cold. The onion rings were nice and big but a bit greasy and oily. Everyone is nice and friendly and the place is hopping with outdoor seating if you don't want to sit in air conditioning. Best BBQ I had during my brief weekend stay in DFW area. Other BBQ joints I visited were Terry Black and Pecan Lodge in downtown Dallas. My taste test was for brisket and pork ribs. Heim's pork rib is flavorful and tender like Terry Black, the brisket juicy, soft and thick like Pecan Lodge (with better fat-to-meat ratio).
