I've been searching high and low for a decent bbq place.. After multiple disappointments I ran across this place.. I'm a southern girl that loves southern food, so I was a little nervous.. On my 1st visit I ordered a chopped beef sandwich and a rib dinner.. I wanted to get 2 options, just in case I wasn't happy with 1.. The chopped beef was ok, but way too greasy.. Now let's get on their ribs.. The ribs truly live up to the name.. They are meaty, juicy, and tender.. I didn't try the sauce the 1st time, because of the bad experiences I've had at other places.. But the second time I faced my fears and was blown away.. I've visited this place at least 3 times in the past week and was on my way today, but they're closed.. Which sucks, cause I had my entire mouth ready for those ribs.. But trust me.. I'll be back.. read more

I have no idea at all why D magazine rated this the number 1 bbq place into the metroplex. This place was very overrated. The food was cold and just didn't taste good at all. I drove an hour away to try this bbq. This was a huge let down. I wouldn't recommend this to any true bbq lover. The service was good, the food just wasn't. read more

The place is really good quality wise and the place has a very good home feeling vibe. Price wise I feel it is just a bit more expensive than it should be considering the portion sizes that they give read more

Hands down, the best BBQ I have ever had! Seriously, the meat just melts in your mouth - definitely worth the drive dr

The food is excellent however Do not be in a hurry coming into this place. Extremely slow. At 7pm the inside close the drive thru is wrapped around the building. Food is good but not worth the 30 minute wait in drive thru. read more

Use to be great and off the bone, but not anymore. The last couple of times we have stopped by at lunch, the sliced meat is dry and tastes old. We tried it again for a luncheon on Tuesday and again it's blah. We should have known it was going to be trouble when we called to order from the website info..and they didn't know what "the family pack" consisted of! (Do they not know their own website-or is it new management that never bothered to research their social media page?)The service was even worse. Workers running around like they were lost. Our order was short one side and that's after they "checked" it twice. We opened the containers and they did not. That's how we saw we were short. The worst was the cashier who couldn't read the order and instead of asking what we had ( since nobody else seemed to know) I started to tell her very politely, even giving trying to support her by siding with her that they aren't helping you are they? She said exactly! Then off she goes telling me to back up from the register... not sure what she meant when the register is RIGHT NEXT to the line!!! And I was about to pay! Geez I think the employees make Off The Bone worse than the bbq!! read more

Stopped in to try this place. Wasn't too bad but I expected a little more for $16. Very small portion of brisket (let's face it brisket is cheap beef) and the chicken was a bit over done. I doubt I'll ever go back read more

One star for having to wait over 15 minutes to place an order when it wasn't even crowded. That gave us time to see the average $12 a plate for dinners not including the drinks. We left without ordering! . . . $25 for two for dinner one would expect better service and a little bit of ambience. read more

Best BBQ I've had yet in Texas. Same goes for their Mac n Cheese and Peach cobbler. Not sure why this place has anything less than 5 stars. This is the greatest meal I've had in a long while. read more

I like their link and chopped beef sandwiches. But the sides are too small and not to mention the cashiers. They seem to always have an attitude. Overall the food is good just keep in mind that they aren't so friendly. read more

I had lunch there the other day with the recommendation of my wife. It was a great meal. I had the rib plate while she had the loaded potatoe. Great food. Ribs were tender and delicious. Went back a few days later for more ribs. The staff were very friendly and greet you upon entering the door. I'll be back. read more

The best BBQ ever. My wife and I ordered the chopped beef baked potato and sliced beef sandwich. It was great. Will definitely be back.

Really..............? Went there today at lunchtime......ordered the sliced brisket sandwich and two (2) ribs...........sandwich was so well done it was dry......ribs were wayyyyyyy over cooked.......this place used to be great but has really fallen by the wayside..............not going back. read more

DO NOT BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES AT THIS PLACE. Received Gift Certificate and now they will not honor due to new computer system or so we were told. The person buying the gift certificate has to have proof that they bought it. How often do you keep a receipt for a gift certificate that is given. If you have a gift certificate well supposedly someone should have bought unless this place has a tendency to have them stolen??? which also begs do you really want to buy one from here? read more

Can't really 'review' their food. Came here on a Saturday evening because as I was visiting Texas it was my #1 pick for bbq. Well... they ran out of ribs. I did buy all the remaining buttermilk pies though.... DELICIOUS!! oh my oh man. You can't purchase a whole pie... guess you have to order it days in advance.. but you can get like 6 pie slices so I guess that is a whole pie? IDK. Maybe next time. read more

The food here is really good. I always get the rib basket which includes about 4-5 bones, one side, Texas toast, and a drink. I usually the green beans as my side. The ribs are always tender with a Smokey taste and the beans are seasoned good. read more

After trying to find a BBQ place to eat, my friend and I finally found this place. The decor and location is to be desired, but the food was not. I ate and enjoyed every food item I ordered. I will return. read more

sides were good and service is a tad slow brisket better than the ribs - which were dry but you get a lot of food for the money most people in the store were eating chopped sandwiches read more

I went here because D Magazine said this was the best BBQ in the DFW area. Well I got to say D Magazine must have been eating something that was just specifically made for them because the meats that we got was average at best. The smoke flavor was there and while the rub wasn't the best, I can still tolerate it. However what I cannot stand for is dry meat! My gosh do they think they can charge me $12 a lb for brisket and give me what seems like the flat which while leaner is also alot drier if not done right. Then there are the ribs. I ordered both the shortend and the regular. No way you can mess that up right since pork ribs are generally pretty fatty. Well I was wrong. Both me and my friend thought they were some of driest ribs we had ever eaten. At least the fries and buttered toast were good. Other then that I thought all their meats were on par or below a Dickey's or Spring Creek BBQ. Now I don't write this review to be mean, but to encourage the owners to treat every customer as if they were from D Magazine. Check the quality of the food you are serving. If it isn't something you are proud of then please do not serve it to us. I will never eat here or recommend this place to anyone. It's a shame since I am looking for some decent bbq joints outside of Hill Country, read more

This place is a joke slice beef sandwich with only three strips of beef.... really big cold buns and cold meat. LAST VISIT this was my second visit no more read more

The food is good but services is bad...white girl with blonde hair and blue yes..wouldn't let me order my food in drive thru...we sat in line for 30mins before getting to the window and she mad because I still have more to order. I told her she shouldn't cut people off when their ordering and just give them a price...I spend almost $100 everytime I go and customer should be treated better...I told her I needed to order more and she rolled hers eyes and said what do you want.. I said I want the manager, she said no he's in the kitchen cooking..she slams the window walks away and comes back and says pull around...I drove off and after 40mins total wait time...I see didn't receive food...VERY VERY POOR SERVICE...that young lady is very rude and needs manners. read more

Excellent - I know my BBQ and this is a very unpretentious place that focuses on good value and good BBQ. Part of what makes this place great is the atmosphere - I had to pinch myself to remind myself that I was in the metroplex. Anyway, I had the ribs and chicken dinner. Ribs were nearly perfect - great flavor, cooked just right. Chicken was good too - maybe a little too smokey for some but I liked it. Cole slaw appeared fresh, but beans were not spectacular. Will I be back? you bet. read more

Pretty good BBQ. I stopped here on my way from Houston to Whichita Falls (if you know why I would go to Whichita Falls...you are awesome...lift heavy). Anyway. Good stuff. I had the rib lunch with fried okra. All was very good. read more

Had the chop beef plate with fried okra and corn on the cob. Best part was the corn. The sauce for the beef was bland and the okra was way too salty and came right out of a bag. For $11, there are much better options for BBQ. read more

If you love fall off the bone ribs along with meat that has that fantastic smoky taste to it, this is the place. I was lucky enough to be the last one in line before they were closing their drive thru and I was truly blessed that they let me sneak through even after their official closing time. I had the ribs and brisket and both were phenomenal. Don't miss this hidden gem between Dallas and Forth Worth. read more

I tried the Daily Special today. $6.95 for a sliced brisket sandwich, fries, and a drink. The wait after ordering was uncomfortably long and when the food arrived, the fries were cold. And the serving size was small. The brisket was tasty, but very fatty. I got the feeling none of the workers wanted to be there and they were inattentive. The manager needs to do some QA assessment. read more

I used to come here all the time for the best barbecue but not anymore! Peach cobbler was scrapped from the bottom but I was charged the regular price and as for the barbecue, not good and very dry!! Save your money or go somewhere else!!! read more

Visited this location on Saturday October 25, 2014. I was eager to try the ribs since they got a great review but was greatly disappointed because the ribs were tough. The smoked chicken was off the bone and the food was off the grease. Flies were flying around the windows fighting to get out of the place. I was greatly disappointed and have learned not to base my restaurant visits on a review. The grease was too much for my stomach. read more

Decided to come here based on the review in D Magazine. I have to admit I was partly attracted to the place because it is a bit of a dive, in addition to the glowing review of their brisket and sausage in the magazine article. To get a taste of everything, I ordered the three meat plate with ribs, sliced brisket and sausage, with sides of cole slaw and mac and cheese. Portion sizes were generous but, for the price, pretty much what I would expect. As far as value for the dollar, I think you get what you pay for here. You won't go away hungry, at any rate. However, depending on what you order, you may or may not go away wanting more regardless of how full are. That said, the only thing you need to order here are the ribs, which were fall-off-the-bone tender, moist and had a lovely, almost velvety texture. They were smokey, savory and had a pronounced smoke ring and thick, deep crust. Don't bother with the sauce: it's not that it isn't good (on the contrary, it is spicy-sweet and tangy, just peppery enough without blowing away the flavor of the meat), you just don't need it and are better off without it. The ribs are just that good that the best sauce in the world can add nothing. Get the ribs and be happy! As for the rest, the brisket had good flavor but was dry and (by slow-smoked brisket standards) relatively tough. I asked for fatty slices and got something leaner than I expected and what fat was present had a somewhat flabby quality. The sausage was not served as an intact link and I got the feeling that it was sliced hours before I arrived. The casings were rubbery, with no snap, and the interior was dry and tired looking. I found myself needing to dip the sausage bits in the sauce to give them enough lubrication to be edible -- something that, as a rule, I never do. Sides were okay -- nothing special but of passable quality. They put raisins in the cole slaw, which I thought odd, but they aren't as objectionable as I would have expected. They were not entirely unpleasant but still slightly unwelcome. The mac and cheese was a few good steps above Kraft but nothing special and the Texas toast was of the sort you can buy in a plastic bag in any New Jersey supermarket. To sum up, it's worth driving down for the ribs: just get some ribs by the pound and skip the rest. Get more than you think you need. You'll be glad you did when you're standing in front of the open fridge the next morning savoring the leftovers with greasy fingers and a huge smile on your face! One final note, they do not sell alcohol and don't allow BYOB, so if you want to enjoy an adult beverage with your ribs, plan on getting takeout! read more

Never had better .. ribs fall off the bone , melt on your mouth - really meaty not too fatty.. you'll never taste this kind of thing again. The salami sandwich is off the hook.. for $4.19 you can get the biggest piece of salami that melts in your mouth ..also , the help was fabulous, I think her name was Heather- really lovely girl .. thank you ! read more

We were sadly led to this place by the D magazine article naming it #1 the off the bone owner must have paid to get on the list because surely it could not have been his crappy, dry and overpriced bbq. We ordered the rib plate and sliced brisket plate with ice tea and the bill was over $30 dollars. After waiting 35 minutes for our food in the drive thru , where we were treated VERY rudely by the lady at the window we did not even get Bbq sauce. When we drove back around and my husband had to go in to ask for sauce not even a "sorry about that" from the manager who opened the door instead he made him show him the receipt. The portions are small which was fine since it sucked the sides had no seasoning. My husband is a huge BBQ fan in this is by far the worst place we have tried. You would be better off waiting for McDonald's to have the Mc rib sandwich back at least it comes with bbq sauce. read more

When you read the reviews here consider that there are -- at least -- two kinds of BBQ fans: the kind that see BBQ as being about the sauce and the kind that see BBQ as being about the smoked meat. For the sauce folks, the meat ought to be smoked, but it can be cooked in many other ways so long as it is offered with a tasty sauce which takes the first place of interest. For the smoked meat folks, sauce is usually only a part of the cooking process, not the most important part at that, and the smoking process is everything. A lot of the time people in one group don't even realize that the other kind of 'cue and fans of it even exists. I suspect that a lot of the negative reviews here come from people from the sauce side, whereas those who see this place as an outpost of Heaven (as I do) come from the smoked meat faction, which tends to dominate the foodie side of BBQ fandom. I'm not a brisket fan and won't say anything about that but I love ribs and they don't come any better than these. The smoked meat faction generally doesn't care much about the sides and bread and stuff: they're just there for the meat. Having said that, they do have good sauce (I eat it on the bread, not on the meat) and fried okra. But the ribs ... wow, just wow. read more
