Screen are on the smaller side but overall that doesn't detract from the experience unless you want an IMAX experience or something totally in your face. While I'm a fan beer / wine in movies, we actually just wanted some popcorn and sweets...

You book ahead of time to get comfy lounge chairs or loveseats and can settle into watching a great indie film with a a beer in hand. The flicks are 13 quid a pop but that's about how much they cost everywhere else and you don't get fancy seats with all the rest! PERFECT date spot!

The "decor" is some sort of bastardized cross between industrial and art house theater chic. The seats are hard, with mustard yellow woven cotton blend. When I say hard, I mean not recommended for anyone over 30 years old. The staff talked up the couches "at no extra charge" and I can see why, they don't recline, and have more stains of indeterminate origin than the couches at the playboy mansion. The sound was good, and though smaller than most, the screen was adequate for the room size. The room certainly had an "intimate"feel. If not for the slightly elevated ticket price (£15), the hard seats, and the upholstery that gave you the vague impression that you were sitting in the same spot where some hipster baby had been conceived, it would have been a pleasant enough experience. I can't recommend this until they clean it up and get some padding in the seats though.

Noted for it's spacious couch seating, waiters to bring you the snacks you ordered, and a little table to keep it all on, it is a little more expensive than other cinemas, but you get your money's worth. I have been to other Everyman cinemas and enjoyed the VIP treatment, but in this instance, I found my seat very hard to get comfortable in. It wasn't too hard, but it was so high off the ground that it was impossible for me to get comfortable. It might work for someone 6ft tall but for me, it just wasn't working. I would recommend not sitting in the front, I think there might be better elsewhere in the room.

It was delightful. Later saw Paddington Bear here too. The seats are very comfortable, especially the soft leather sofa. Unlike some other cinemas it's kept very clean. You can also purchase adult drinks at the bar to take into the studios.

The screen and sound here are great. Everything else feels so dated and underserved compared to…read morelike a hundred + cinephilie places in the US. On the outside it looks like a temple to movies as you're getting close to it; it's a huge, imposing oval of a building in the middle of the street. But the temple illusion is shattered quickly as to get to the place you have navigate into one of several tunnels with some of the local homeless community and their respective full use of the place as a toilet. This is especially disconcerning if you go to a late showing. Once you get inside, your feeling will shift from slightly tense to slightly underwhelmed. The interior here is kind of like an AMC megaplex from the early 1990's. There's some light celebration of movies going on but it really doesn't appear like some flagship for the BFI, especially given the gravitas they employ on their movie collection video they play before many movies here. Food is also really underwhelming compared to nearly all higher end theaters in the States with full service; I guarantee if you were to visit the first Alamo in Austin that was converted out of a dumpy old 1970's style four theater complex you'd find that experience an order of magnitude better than what you'll get here (and that's before we get into just the attention paid to the love of cinema bv a company like that compared to the vanilla offerings here!) LIke I wrote before, once the movie starts it's very good. If you have a BFI membership like I do and can access the VIP seating, they definitely have more legroom than anywhere else I've been in the country. But overall experience is just deeply underwhelming and they should really overhaul this whole place to truly immerse people in the love of film - even the Everyman chain in London does a way better job of this than this location does.

This place is amazing and if you love cinema and are going to see a spectacular then I would recommend popping your bottom in one of their super comfy seats. We walked in and the place was totally empty because of course it was Christmas. We ended up chatting with the bartender and he informed us that the movie we came to see wasn't showing until noon. It was 9 am at that point so we ordered a few rounds of pints alongside some food and had the entire place to ourselves as he put on The Grinch. A couple of hours later, a few more people showed up. We handed over the place to them as we left to go on with our day. The couches were comfy deep seaters and the movie looked big and blurry. I am not into the whole dressing up thing but my mate got me some goggles and a Star Wars scarf. I am glad I did as everyone was all Star Warsed up. Firstly you are taken into a made up spaceport ushered by actors then they whizz you off to another film set from Star Wars. The whole point is that it's a secret so I am not going to spoil it but will update the review when it's finished. They make you put your phones in silver bags and are turned off so I don't have any photos. Well worth going though.
