Terrible customer service after manager at Redditch refused us entry during the opening adverts and then tried to have security throw us out. Instead security were fed-up with the behaviour of the manager and asked us to complain to the company Vue and the shopping centre. CS gave me 2x free tickets (worth £5 given Meerkat 2-4-1) which ran out during Covid so never used and CS refused to re-send. read more

Terrible experience when trying to book my tickets online resulting in a missed movie experience and wasted money to say the least. However, the frustration of that doesn't compare to an even worse customer service experience, as not one of my multiple emails has been responded to in over 48hrs, in addition to numerous dm's sent on both Instagram and Twitter which have also gone without a reply in over 72hrs. The cost of seeing a movie here are insane. Even for London. INsane. BUT - and this is a big but - the snack costs are rather reasonable, there's a bar, the seats are huge & comfy (and assigned) and the theatres are each smallish so that there isn't a bad seat. Even with the small rooms, the screens are nice and big. The price of a 3D ticket includes the glasses (which isn't the case elsewhere) I've been here twice ever (4 years ago and again recently) and enjoyed it twice. We just saw "Day of the Doctor" yesterday and while we won't be going to the Vue Apollo for regular movie nights, it's definitely worth it for special nights. I saw that they're screening "Gone With the Wind" for a couple weeks now, and might need to go back and check that out on the big screen! A little bit indulgent, but worth the treat! read more

What an interesting experience. My brother and I are avid moviegoers so we wanted to experience cinema while vacationing in London. We purchased our tickets for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom online and were able to print them at a kiosk upon arrival. The seating is reserved so we didn't have to worry about rushing to sit down. This theater is located right off of Piccadilly Circus and has three flights of stairs down before you reach the auditoriums. There were two concession lines which were quite long, but not unbearable to wait in given that we had arrived early. When we entered our theater, there was still a mess from the last showtime so workers came in and hastily cleaned it up. Everyone I approached who worked there were warm and friendly. I am not sure if this is the case for most theaters in England, but in addition to the trailers we'd see in the US before the movie, there were also commercials before the trailers at Vue. When our movie finally started, it was about 40 minutes from our assigned showtime. It was fun to go through the moviegoing experience abroad, however I definitely missed the recliner seating and homey feel of my local cinema! read more

The service here is absolutely disgusting. My friend had told us that she had found chewed gum in the popcorn she was served. When they complained to the manager, they passed it over saying the staff aren't allowed to chew gum and were blaming my friend and her family. Behaviour like this is appalling. Honestly considering if this is racially motivated because all the staff are predominantly white and she is a hijabi with two other hijabis. If the staff and manager cannot put themselves together and stop making excuses, this wouldn't have happened. Makes us sick just thinking about it. Never going to come here again. read more

Apollo is one of my favourite cinemas in London. Not only do they have reasonably priced tickets for central London, but they accept Orange 2-4-1 Wednesdays and their concessions are super cheap (like popcorn-and-drink-for-£2 cheap) making this the best cinema value in the history of rip-off Britain. And it's never really that busy. And the screens and seating are modern industry standard. You just can't go wrong. Except it's a small cinema so sometimes that film you really want to see just isn't showing. That's kind of lame. But the beer at the concession stand makes up for it. read more

I went here last night to see Hunter Prey as part of the Science Fiction Festival across town. We've been taking in a fair few cinemas of late, so it's always interesting to compare. Located just opposite Lillywhites in Piccadilly, its easy to find the Apollo - which is always a good start! We swiftly picked up our tickets in the top foyer (no queue whatsoever) and headed downstairs to check it out. There are two bars - one fully stocked with wines and beers (oh, and olives, which I was tempted by), the other just serving popcorn. I chose some pre-filled pick & mix (mistake, it was awful) and we had some OJ plus a water. Total price £6. Not bad for a cinema. Anyway, before the film was ready, we sat around in the comfy leather seats in the foyer and geeked out over this guy who was selling t-shirts with movie-related imagery on (one had the Wild Stallions logo on it from Bill & Ted for instance). Once ready, we walked in were immediately impressed. The seats are plush and comfy, and the 250 max capacity made it feel a little more private. Great film, great seats, bad sweets. And that's pretty damn good, I'll just swing by M&S ahead of time when we go next. Can't wait to see what type of films they show normally. I'm assuming the standard blockbusters, but I'd also like to see if they run specialist films too. read more

In an era when chains like Odeon cinemas are bringing high def, high sound quality movies to every town, it's getting harder to justify the high prices for West End cinemas. This site has played host to cinemas in various guises over the years and Apollo have just finished a multi-million pound refurbishment in an overall investment plan for the less glamorous Lower Regent Street area. The cinema promises a level of luxury not found in conventional cinemas and the full size reclining (well, to a point) armchairs are indeed very comfortable. There's a full bar available. They show a lot of mainstream movies but also have occaional indie films. Excitingly, Leon C has posted that this cinema will play host to the forthcoming London Sci-Fi film festival. There will be no more comfortable cinema in the West End to host the event. read more

This Vue is the best I have been to - I mean most aren't much to write home about but this is! Such big comfy chairs with double arm rests, big screen and great incline so no heads are in the way! Staff are friendly and there is a nice bar and waiting area. Quite a small cinema for central London with only 4 screens but worth going to. As all other cinemas the tickets are ridiculously over priced but watch out for discounts on yplan etc read more

A cinema's a cinema, right? Correct. However, if you're going sit yo' ass down for a coupla hours, and fork out a pretty for a film, there are some things that are fairly crucial: 1. You want a nice, comfy seat to lean back in. Check! These seats are plush as anything. 2. You don't want anyone's big fat head blocking your view. Check! The rows are on a good gradient to sort this out. 3. You want to be able to hear every word of the movie over the sound of rustling popcorn and slurping soft drinks. Check! Great sound system, Mr Vue. And on top of that, you have a super central location. It's a winner. read more

What an impressive place. As a born-and-bred Londoner my experience of Leicester Square/Piccadilly Circus cinema's are over priced, shabby, over used tourist traps. I tend to avoid (unless they roll out the red carpet for me). Fortunately I live in Swiss Cottage- I have 6 different cinema's in walking distance of different types screens. However, most of you do not live here so you either end up a tourist trap (as above), or one of the below: The other options: 1. The luxury sector cinema does exists but tends to be really expensive. The excellent (but expensive) Everyman Cinema Group in Hampstead is an amazing place as is the Electric Cinema on Portobello. They serve you beer at your sofa. 2. Art house/reparatory cinemas such as the Phoenix in East Finchley tend to be impressive historic places and architectural gems but not the most cutting edge of cinematic experiences. 3. Local/out of town on a roundabout lower priced options tend to whiff of over-corporate multiplex identikit cinema chains. In contrast, the Apollo mini-chain is cutting edge by creating modern spaces using 100% digital proper 3D hi-def technology and a swish refurb. Seeing Toy Story 3 in smooth flicker-free digital 3D in CineAlta 4K res is pretty special. The Sony 4K Cinema experience is up to par with the lovely interior, decor, toilets and food area. All parts mentioned are normally guilty in spoiling a cinema experience, but here the quality makes this cinema in a class of its own. read more

I was lucky enough to attend a Qype event here, and extremely lucky that said event was a preview of one of the top movies of the year - Toy Story 3. The hospitality and excellent service we were shown throughout by the cinema staff made this a wonderful experience. The cinema has a very unassuming entrance, but the lounge/bar area is clean and comfortable, with a hint of 'luxury'. This theme carries on through the loos (I honestly said "wow" when I walked in - there is a lighted mirror with a couple of stools in front of it!) and into the screen itself. The seats are well raked - very important for me being of 'short stature', comfortable, spacious and have nice wide arm rests. The Apollo cinema chain currently boasts a hot new technology - Sony 4k resolution and RealD 3D. We were given the full technical explaination, but the main point is that the 3D is shown in such a way as to reduce eye-strain. I was particularly interested in this as me and 3D technology have never seen eye-to-eye in the past - usually it just gives me headaches and motion sickness and I give it a wide berth. I'm pleased to report that RealD 3D is a vast improvement. It's still not perfect - I could see some shadowing of the image at times, but it's come on leaps and bounds from my childhood memories of red and green plastic and cardboard glasses. Over all, a top cinema, exellent environment and staff, but the 3D technology still has a way to go before I'm bowled over. read more

One of the West End's 'nicest' cinemas. It's clean, well staffed, friendly and has a great mix of recent releases and more art house pictures. The screens are also really big, with a wide auditorium that isn't too deep. With groovy lighting. Love it. Plus there's a bar. Go here over Leicester Square folks. read more

I'm continually blown away by this place. Not only are the seats incredibly comfortable, the loos posh, and the snacks abundant, it's just far off enough Leicster Square not to get hoardes of tourists. Walking in, you know that you'll never go to the Trocodero again. Perfect for date night or an afternoon out with the family. Cinemas are usually quite grubby places where you pay a fair amount to be squashed into a narrow seat with no leg room for around 2 hours. The Apollo is a different ballpark altogether; with a modern, clean interior and super-comfortable seats with enough space for even the longest legs, this is a place where you can enjoy a movie without having to do yoga moves in order to get to your seat. I was one of the Qypers who was invited to watch Toy Story 3 in 3D the quality was really quite impressive and a far cry from the 3D experience I had as a kid (not that I remember too much about it but I do remember that I didn't really enjoy it). What also sets the Apollo apart from other cinemas is the very comfy waiting area with nice sofas where you can have a pre-movie drink and, not to be forgotten, the exceptionally clean loos. I also like that fact that you can book seats in advance, i.e. you don't have to settle for seats that happen to be free and can decide beforehand exactly which seats you want. Altogether a great experience and I look forward to the expansion of the 3D technology at the Apollo. read more

I've only been to one other cinema in the west end and I was not at all impressed, so this Apollo Cinema on Regent street was a pleasant surprise. The theatre was clean and spacious, with super comfy seating and a decent sized screen. Toy Story 3 was fantastic and watching in Sony 4k 3D, made it an especially enjoyable experience. I usually have achey eyes after watching films in 3D so I haven't been much of a fan - not until now anyway! I wasn't so pleased with the bartender though, who was especially rude to me, but apart from that and the flashy lights, I had a great evening. read more

Wonderful cinema recently renovated to include Sony 4K technology to deliver a 3D movie with less eye-strain. ou descent down into the depths of the building to the main area before going in to one of several cinemas. As I have been here for the London Girl Geek Dinner SciFi London event as well as Toy Story 3, I know this is just an amazing cinema. The screens are huge, the seats are comfortable and it has a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend going to the movies here even if you have to go out of your way to do so. read more

What a lovely cinema, and right by the tourist hell of Piccadilly Circus. I went along to the free screening of Toy Story 3 arranged by Qype and Sony to give us a glimpse of their new 4K 3D technology. Now I struggle with 3D because I have a defective eye so my depth perception is a bit poor at the best of times so I wouldn't say I found things leaping out at me although the quality of the image was obviously very good. I liked the world cup preview footage as well (perhaps because they showed Germany thrashing the Aussies) and the SIA footage was quite cool as well. The cinema itself has a small bar, comfy seats, and a convenient location so I can't really knock it - although I'm guessing if you had to pay for a central London film then it wouldn't come cheap. read more

It was my first ever trip to the Apollo Cinema and it was fabulous. I was there to see Toy Story 3 in 3D and I'm still raving about it. The movie is a must-see, I even cried! The cinema itself is gorgeous. Right near Piccadilly Circus, the Apollo cinema is the first in London to install Sony 4k resolution and RealD 3D a new 'eye-friendly' way to watch 3D! Having never had a problem watching 3D, I couldn't tell if there was a difference however the visual quality was amazing. I got completely caught up in the story. Outside the door is rather unassuming, I'm not even sure I've ever noticed it before. Inside, the bar staff are friendly, the cinema is a comfortable size and the seats were big with deep cushions. I was already impressed and then I reached the toilets - very lush! I shall definitely be going back to the Apollo again, maybe to see Eclipse! read more

This is an excellent cinema with lovely decor (even down to the toilets which are decorated with glowing crystals) and a nice bar. It hosts the Sci-Fi London film festival, which is a fun event, although the volunteers who run it sometimes struggle with projection. It is only pricey in the same way that all central London cinemas are pricey. At least it is a nice experience, though. My one criticism is that the higher-numbered screens are a bit small, shading towards very small. read more

I attended the Toy Story 4k screening on Thursday night at the Apollo Cinema. I had been there before to watch a Pacino movie. It has to be the most comfy cinema experience ever! every seat is like a business class flight seat. It reclines, it has deep cushions aka DREAM! I like what they are doing with the 4K. It was so clear, and the sound was great. I went along because I love the Toy Story franchise. Buzz and Woody never looked so real. I think the next line of 4k movies will be immense. I hear that Tin Tin is coming back and going to be in 4k 3D. The cinema itself has a great little bar, look first class, however one thing I will say is that if you are going to go, and don't want to spend £36 on two tickets, then go on Orange wednesday. A normal ticket is £16. Probably because of it's location, probably because you do get what you pay for. But I thought it was a little pricey when I went. Thankfully this experience was FREE thanks to Qype, so no grumbles there. read more

*The Venue After a very unassuming entrance, right beside a small but crowded Tesco's (from which endless amounts of rubbish seemed to have made its way out on to the pavement and bendy buses screeched and sighed to a halt beside) I descended down in to the Apollo Cinema. "All the way at the bottom" the woman had said and I think it's the first time I've descended into an underground cinema! However the descent itself was quite pleasant with well lit blue stairs! Reaching the ground floor I headed for the small bar and treated myself to an alcoholic beverage. I had a moment of quietly marvelling that five screens were tucked away down here and a little while later cheered inwardly at the plush toilets. I'd travelled to the venue by bus and standing at 6ft tall, cinemas often reward my frame with a degree of achiness; knees tucked up tight behind the seat in front etc but after several presentations and the Feature Film, I stood up and walked away in utter comfort. The Technology I was at the cinema to see the preview of Toy Story 3, projected using Sonys new 2K dual lens projector transforming the flat 2D film into a dazzling 3D. For the geeks amongst us, Sony actually have 4K technology but no-ones currently using it. However the 2K, Dual Lens projection system allows for a smoothness & enhanced resolution of 3D not seen before by Joe & Jane Public in the UK. The Apollo cinemas across the country are rolling this out in force. To the layman, it also means that those that often find 3D uncomfortable or indeed get headaches should hopefully be able to enjoy the experience like the rest of us! The Film* (Toy Story 3) Since when does an animated film inspire one to a prick of tears? I hadn't read anything about Toy Story 3 (TS.3.) prior to arriving but had seen its two predecessors. Fast approaching 40 years of age, I wasn't exactly the target audience either. With me was a former colleague, comfortably in her 30's. As Buzz LightYear, Woody and the team went through a wealth of experiences including being terrorised in a Day Nursery and resigning themselves to imminent destruction in a Land Fill site, the script was slick enough to inspire tingles of mild dread, celebration and finally poignant melancholy. If animated films, in 3D of this genre generally appeal to you, I'd offer that TS.3. is an entertaining way to pass two hours. My thanks to Chris Osburn for the invitation. read more

Very clean and comfy movie theatre. Great sound and quality picture. Ticket prices were cheaper than what you would expect from a theatre in the middle of Piccadilly circus. Also concessions were fairly priced. In addition it was a one minute walk from the Piccadilly tube stop. Would recommend this theatre. read more

For real cinema bluffs, this is London's best kept secret. All the screens have nice and comfortable seats (best in London), floor to ceiling screens, tiered seating (so even a tall person sits in front of you you can still see the screen perfectly), nice loud sound system (how it should be). Nice toilets. Nice bar. They also show a good selection of films, blockbusters and indie fare. In short, the BEST CINEMA in central London imo. For people who love films and like to be comfortable. read more

My first visit to this swish cinema was for Toy Story 3, thanks to Qype and Sony. The 4K system and Real3D specs made for a very enjoyable experience, especially since the film was great as well. The seats are incredibly comfortable - every seat has a good view and they're much wider than normal movie theatre seats. The convenient location means that next time I'm looking for a place to watch a 3D movie, this will be top of the list. Thanks to Chris for organizing! read more

LOVE the Apollo! Prices are reasonable, bordering on cheap given the proximity to Leicester square (£7.50!!) and the seats are staggered vertically so you're guaranteed to not have anyone in front of you! Also, they're incredibly comfy :) The cinemas aren't incredibly large, but the projection equipment is good, screen is good, seats are brilliant, and they even have oh no!! there goes my waistline! popcorn! it's very easy to get to with plenty of public transport close by... as for the venue itself the seating were hit and miss to be honest... though it looked comfy i found i had to try a few different seats as some of the backrest stayed more upright than others so depending which seat you sat on it made it for a more or less enjoyable viewing... i do have to say that this was only in one of the rows that i tried so it may not be all like that... it's a fairly large seating capacity for London standards and the sound system was excellent... would i go back? would give it another go but if it's the same deal with the seats again definitely not. read more

I should love this cinema. I know that. I like grown up cinemas and this is really trying to be a grown up cinema. But I just didn't like it. Too many mirrors. Too many flashy blue lights. Toilets that felt like a night club. A stupid bar selling cheap wine that meant the screen room smelt of, well, cheap wine. Even the seats weren't right, a great size, but the way they rocked back just wasn't quite... right. Nope. Sorry. I won't be going back. read more

For prices similar to say Odeon in Leicester Square, you get large comfy seats, great screen and sound and an awesome bar. And the bathrooms are actually clean! Seeing a film in the west end can be a slightly risky business. It's expensive and can get very busy. Some cinemas go by quantity over quality. The Apollo opened as a sort of 'luxury' cinema. The idea was that you could book your reclining seat, and have a drink beforehand and even bring it into the theatre with you. Obviously they charge a slight premium. Even quite a few years later, that business model has quite obviously worked. Having had a few cinema experiences involving long queues to get a good seat (one where I had optimal view rather than a comfortable time), I am more than happy to pay a couple more quid to reserve my seat. The screens are a good size, the seats do recline, there is loads of legroom. You can bring booze into the film with you. There is a proper bar. The toilets are LOVELY. There is a nice seating area if you want to wait before going into the film. Sometimes it really is a case of 'you get what you pay for'. If I really have to see a film in the west end, this is one of the two cinemas I'd prefer to go to. read more

In my eyes it's a cinema just like all the rest. Seats are indeed very comfortable, but the air conditioning is awful sometimes.
