The Screen on Baker Street is a charming small cinema that I strongly recommend. There are three 'Screen on...' cinemas which I've been told are run by the Everyman group. The others are in Hampstead and Islington. All of the Screens have character, but I come here as it is my closest. They have a great advance booking system where you choose your seats online. Then they send you a text confirming your booking and you're good to go. When you arrive at the cinema you can head straight downstairs to the small refreshment stand. It has a decently stocked bar with competent staff. The highlight though is the traditional popcorn maker, from which they serve freshly popped corn with an uneven covering of butter and salt. I think there are a couple of screens though I have only been in one, which is decently sized. The films shown tend to be commercially successful arts films, as at the Picturehouse and Curzon chains, befitting the gentrified area.

If you want to go see the latest Blockbuster With Huge Explosions movie then you'll probably rate this theatre 2 stars, tops. If you want a civilised, comfortable, small-scale film experience, then hopefully you'll agree with me on the 4-star rating I've given the Screen on Baker Street. It's very small (two screens, each with only about 60 seats). They only show 2 or 3 films at a time. But they usually have at least one art or indie film on. When you enter you'll find a small bar, if you want a drink beforehand (no need to chug them if you drink slow, either - you're more than welcome to take your bottle of wine into the film as long as you use plastic cups). Inside the theatre there's an actual usher who shows you to your reserved seat (some may find it a bit silly in such a small theatre, but I think it adds a bit of class - our usher was very professional, and not just some kid who didn't really care). They post the "programming" (i.e., ads and trailers) start time and the actual film start time at the ticket booth, so you know exactly how long you have. Although for the film I saw last night there were no ads or trailers whatsoever: right into the film! The screen's not huge, of course, but picture and sound were fine. Like I said, not the place for a multimedia extravaganza. The chairs were very plush, very reclined, and very comfortable, though. All shows are £9.50, though they have a £7 concession price for early in the week only. It's part of a small chain (http://www.screencinemas.co.uk/) , and is owned by the Everyman cinema group (http://www.everymancinemaclub.com) .

I actually stumbled across this cinema by chance years ago when searching up the closest place near by to watch a movie. I was gobsmacked. What a cute little cinema! It has fast become my favourite place to watch a film in London, just for the fact that its so unique and cosy. It certainly has that 'cool' factor which makes you want to bring friends or a date that you want to impress. "Oh yeah, I always go to hip cool gems like this, no big deal". ANYWAY. I've given this 5 stars as, for what it is, it certainly fulfils all the criterias. Great cinema, clean, awesome food and cool vibe. 'Luxury Cinema' wise, It was a different sort of experience as I'm used to Singapore having reclining chairs, blankets and staff serving you food at the table but to be honest, this is a different sort of luxury. This is the luxury of having your own space and a table to balance tea and snacks on without looking like you've gone all out. It's a place you want to be seen watching a movie in London. You can get an assortment of snacks form honey coasted cashews, nachos and dip to old school candies and chocolates. Oh, and their Toblerone cheese cake is KILLER.

This place (and all the Everyman cinemas) changed my experience of what it is to go to a cinema. Delightful friendly bar outside with decent coffee and cakes served. They don't try to pack as many people in as possible. It's more expensive than an Odeon etc but it's worth it. This one is easy to get to as it is less than 5 minutes walk from Baker Street tube.

Great theater. Couches instead of seats. Small and cozy movie house. We saw Downton Abbey the Final Tribute. What a great experience

One of the oldest and first cinema's to show film in London. I actually went to see a double bill of Hitchock. They seem to have a few good arthouse or classic double bills which breaks the mould. Lovely seats and setting. Screen not huge so anywhere from rows 3-10 I reckon are best. Don't go too far back if eyesight is not good. Because of the grand exterior and interior it gets a high mark. Coffee nothing to shout about but saw people getting wine but must say they need more seats around foyer as no where to sit behind 15 people I reckon. That they can improve on.

Owned by the University of Westminster, right next to the university near Oxford Circus. A 119 year old building, it was used by the university as lectures hall for the past 30 years, and has recently been rebuilt in an art-deco style and re-opened to the public showing independent and art house films, a place for film events, lectures and workshops. More suited to lectures, the seating is not that comfortable to watch a film, but the bar area is nice and spacious with a great selection of drinks around the world, to meet before or after a film.

This review is for the beautiful new screening room they have. It's intimate and was invite only so I guess it's for special occasions or internal showings or functions. I went to see Deadpool as part of soho create to showcase soho's vast array of creative industries in central London. Firstly the sound of course is unreal. Perfect. The film was shown for first time in Dolmy atmos and Dolby vision. It was like a home cinema with intimate seating of about 100 or so I think but with crisp picture (big screen, but sit 5 rows up for great view). The sound was brilliant and I cannot fault this cinematic experience. If you ever hear of a screening here you must go! No ifs no buts this made the film more epic than I even imagined.
