The West India Quay Cineworld is closely situated from Westferry DLR, about a 5 minute walk. There are several buses that stop at the same DLR. Situated on the ground floor are a few self service ticket machines and a couple of human manned ticket desks. Upstairs is a bar with a small but decent selection of alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. Quite a cool place to hang out while you're waiting for your film to start, with lots of comfy seating and even a pool table. I saw my film in Screen 5 which is a huge screen with a few rows of comfy premium seats in the middle. Unfortunately the seat I was seating in was on the back row and was worn so much it felt almost like I was sitting on a wood plank. For the ladies who always get stuck waiting in the queue for one of two ladies toilets at cinemas, there are plenty of toilets and room to do makeup. The staff a very friendly and went out of their way to help me. There is also free wifi, yay! Over all a pretty good cinema, but they need to sort out there seating! read more

Good cinema, but a bit away from the rest of Canary Wharf. I like that there usually aren't so many unruly teenagers here, but parking is a pain as you either have to find a space near westferry station or park in the expensive car park next door. I'd rather go to Wandsworth just for the free parking! Often the sound is set way too loud here. read more

It's a bit weird reviewing a cinema, because it's usually the film that you're there to see, but I'm a Cineworld Unlimited member, which means I can go as many times as I want for £14.99 a month. That's a bargain. So I have several Cineworlds to choose from - West India Quay cinema (WIQ for short) is the best of them. It's a fairly standard 10-screen multiplex, but the seats are all comfy, the views are great from every seat, and I'll happily make the trek from Clapham to WIQ rather than go into W1, because they have more films on show. There's a Tesco and Burger King in nearby Cabot Square, but you have to sneak your food in because they don't like it when you do that :) read more

My go to Cineworld (closest to home), also the only cinema that I have ever been in with 3 floors, 10 screens, and a bar area. The screens are situated on floor 1 + 3 and the bar is on floor 2. I have never seen anyone in the bar area. I'm assuming it's because West India Quay has quite a few picturesque bars and restaurants on the docklands Usually the cinema is pretty empty which allows you to choose a great seat almost every time. The popcorn is pretty good, but I usually sneak in chocolate which goes well with any movie :) Rainy days make good cinema days, so get your unlimited card for £16.99 per month. read more

I am a regular at this cinema and have always had a pleasant experience. The cinema screens are always clean and well looked after, staff pleasant and accommodating and the seats are actually rather comfortable. They also serve Tango Ice Blasts which I LOVE! There's a bar/pool area on the second level which is perfect for those looking for a pre-film beverage. Personally I've never had one but it's always quiet and looks pleasant. I will also say that this cinema is one of the most visited in London as it shows the majority of films (in comparison to cinemas such as Haymarket). Great movie theatre with all 10 screens of decent size. All screens are digital and show 3D movies when available. Clean, modern and well-maintained. They show a wide variety of movies, not just the latest blockbusters. Occasionally they show movies which are on at its Haymarket location, but you pay less going to this one. Also, the lower-priced Unlimited Card is accepted here. However. expect long lines at the box office and concessions counter if you go in the evenings as they don't have enough staff to handle the amount of people. They do try their best to speed things along, though. Most importantly, better quality of people here than at Cineworld's The O2 movie theatre. read more

After trying and failing to see a film at the O2 Cineworld on a bank holiday, I headed over to West India Quay to see if I could fare any better. As I arrived during an off period when no films were about to start, I headed straight to the counter and purchased my sub-£10 tickets without any hassle. I poked out to a nearby bar to get a drink while I waited for the film start time to approach. Coming back to the cinema, I shortly found a short queue at the concessions stand, although the people working behind the counter seemed a bit inept, as it took a good five minutes for the single person in front of me to be attended to. The theatre itself was nice and big, with a great screen and comfortable stadium-style seating. No complaints here. The film I elected to see happened to be the worst movie of all time, so much so that many people ended up getting up to use the loo during the film, as did I. This is where it became apparent that the insulation of the toilets that were located directly beneath the seating area of the theatre was sub-par. Throughout the film, you could hear the constant hum of the electric hand dryers. Still, I suppose it's nice to know that people are washing their hands. All in all, this is a nice and quiet cinema with reasonable prices. read more

Cineworld Cinema - Star seats, you can actually sneak on them after the movie has started - Cinema Near Me - London, XGL

I have only been here a couple of times because of its location. Also, I'm of the opinion that there really isn't anything too interesting around here in terms of dining options, but that's changed in recent months, with the opening of places such as Tom's Kitchen and Crossrail if you don't mind a ten minute walk or so. You can also get a discount on the day at the nearby Wetherspoon's if you show them your ticket. Onto the cinema itself. The cineplex is fairly large so there will always be quite a few viewing options open. Given its size, that probably explains why I was still able to get tickets for the new Star Wars movie two days before opening day and choose central seats too. This has forever made this cinema one of my favourites. I found the sound quality to be very good. Not overwhelmingly loud as some cinemas are, but still good enough to really appreciate and enjoy the iconic Star Wars music. My seats were also really comfortable, but then again, I did pay for more comfortable seats (only £0.90 more per person, so not really a big deal for me). You can also get a discount here - and all Cineworld cinemas - with a Gourmet Society card as long as you purchase discounted tickets online via the Gourmet Society website. The savings can be quite significant, with tickets coming in at 40% cheaper or so. read more

Cineworld WIQ is my local cinema and I'm thankful for that. It's a stone's throw away from West Indiay Quay and Canary Wharf DLR Stations, and is right across the streets from loads of restaurants. Inside on the ground floor is the main ticket hall with several touchscreen ticket machines that come in handy when the lines are long. There are 10 or so screens here situated over 3 separate floors. The escalators are oddly narrow, but hardly anything to complain about. Popcorn and other goodies can be purchased from the 2nd and 3rd floor, but watch out for long lines before popular movies. Inside each theatre there are 'regular' seats and VIP/premium seats. These days they appear to be instituting an assigned seating policy, which is a bit annoying. Compared to the other cinemas I've been to in London, this one is a lot cleaner, a lot more modern, and smells a lot less like shoes. The downside is that prices here seems higher than average, but I'm happy to pay a little extra for the convenient location. read more

Apparently Cineworld thinks being searched should be part of your cinema experience. I trekked all the way from the tube station to this cinema and stopping along the way for a bottle of water to sip. Little did I know that AFTER you purchase your tickets a security guard searches your bags for contraband. Knives and weapons you might think, but no... we're talking bottled drinks, candy, and any food or snacks. So there I am in the front of the queue, being reprimanded by the security guard for having water and a few random candies in my bag and told I need to quickly consume it all right there or throw it in the bin. Of course, not one to throw things out, I gulped it all down and then felt sick afterwards. Too bad I wasn't sick all over the guard's shoes. "Welcome to Cineworld." read more

Good quality cinema just far out enough from the city centre to avoid ridiculously high prices. I love watching movies at cinemas and am probably the best contra example of what all those anti-piracy ads try to make you believe. If there is a movie I want to see in a cinema, I'll scan it quickly online to make sure it's not one of those "we put all the good bits in the trailer" movies. Thus, when I make the trek out to a cinema and pay my money, I can relax knowing it will be at least a decent experience. This Cineworld is fairly large with around a dozen screens. I've only occasionally been to a movie where the cinema was more than half full and the screenings have quite late times which is perfect for a late night flick after a stressful day at work. The chairs could be a bit more comfortable but are more than adequate and the two concession stands on different floors ensures you don't have to wait too long for popcorn. My main gripe with Cineworld in general is that they charge you 80p for 3D glasses which I always forget to select and then have to buy in a second transaction. But I guess if I remembered to bring a pair then I would save the coin. Must set a reminder for next time. The best part is that the prices are significantly lower. Think £9 for an adult peak ticket vs £16 at Leicester Square Odeon or £12 at either Westfield Vue. And given that you can get off at Westferry and walk to it in a few minutes, it's quite easy to get to from Bank. All over a win. read more

I really enjoyed this theater -- Its right next to a number of restaurants and pubs and is a reasonably priced ticket (compared to some other cinemas ive been to). The only thing that brought this down a notch is the endless ads and trailers. I guess im just not used to that. Lovely cinema experience watching the film but what is wrong with people? I saw the cleaner bring out 3 sacks of rubbish before the film started. It's not like the room seats thousands of people. We frequent this theater with our Unlimited Card especially since it is the closest Cineworld to our home. We personally like going here for two reasons: shorter queues compared to the big O2 Cineworld and less chaotic. However, I find the seats here a bit uncomfortable perhaps because of normal wear and tear. Also this theater do not have the BSkyB (big screen) room which I enjoyed in O2 and theater bar which is also present in O2 Cineworld. Overall, it is an OK theater to visit if you want to be in an out in no time. read more

I would say the Yelp average of 4 starts is spot on in this instance. I've grown really fond of this place to be honest, and am thrilled it is in walking distance... pair that with a Cineworld card and you've got any night of boredom solved relatively easy. This is in the end, a multiplex, but unlike some cinemas I've almost always had a decent experience here when it comes to the crowds which is what wins me over in the end. As with any Cineworld they will show pseudo independent films, opera, etc., on occasion, but primarily carry the bigger movies as most multiplexes do. Still, they cater a bit more to the random than the likes of some so a few kudos for that at least... personally I've never had much of an issue with what they show, more often than not I save the indies for Netflix or Amazon Instant. The service here is adequate, with the occasional smile... more often than not it's nothing to write home about though... I also used to get frustrated by the ticket system so have learned to buy mine in advance for pick-up which saves a bit of time, the layout doesn't lend itself well to walk-up and decide type of situations... especially now that it's assigned seating. (A newer development for Cineworld.) Speaking of assigned seating, a lot of people find this controversial... I however, love it to be honest... I don't think it was needed too often at Cineworld to be honest, save big premiers, weekends, etc., but I'll admit to rather having it than not... growing up in the US I'm far too familiar with the mad rush for seats and two hour wait for some films just so that you could sit with your friends... that's how they rolled where I was from a least, and I was glad to see that change. Another small, almost hilarious gripe, is that I miss an ice cream stand... specifically I miss a few choices of Ben & Jerry's Frozen Yoghurt, or any healthier variety... it was my little treat at the cinema, but here they just do the pre-packaged pots of a few flavours which isn't the same. (I'll trade that for a well behaved cinema though.) As some have mentioned, the layout of this particular cinema makes it hard to squeeze anything extra in... that said, they do have a bar in-between the two levels that show films, but it's not exactly a happening place... still, you can grab a few drinks prior to or to take in a film if that's your thing. I assume most people would be aware of this, but if you're reading this then perhaps not... Cineworld do a monthly membership, for a minimum term of one year I believe, that is absolutely worth it to someone like me... I think it runs between £16 - £20, depending on if you want access to some of the central London cinemas of which this particular one does not count, that lets you see as many movies as you want at any of their cinemas... it was a life saver when I worked in Edinburgh as I also lived by a Cineworld there, so regardless of where I was I could pop to the cinema whenever I felt like it without worrying about the cost, whether the movie would be worth it, etc. If you have the time, live close enough, and like the cinema it's a great liberator... keep it for a year and you get even more goodies (free 3D bookings, 25% off food and drink, etc.), so I'm a big fan personally. My local cinema, and I pretty much haunt it. That's because of the fairly generous Cineworld Unlimited Card, so it's £16 a month for as many movies as you can cram in, including the West End screens. 10 screens and all are updated to be able to show the latest movies like Avatar in full 3D. The heating can be really erratic here. If you find it's too hot or cold as the previews are screening, do go and tell staff and they are usually happy to rectify it quickly. We learned our lesson after watching Sherlock Holmes all bundled up in all our outdoor stuff including gloves and scarves... read more

Cineworld West India Quay is the cinema I most regularly frequent - not for the quality of the filmgoing experience though, more because I have a Cineworld Unlimited card and this is my closest half decent Cineworld. Starting with the positives, it's in a lovely area and there are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop if you're early for your film. The cinema itself looks very nice and it's very comfortable once you're in there. There are plenty of negatives though. The sound system has always seemed like it needed replacing even when it was new - it frequently cuts out in one speaker, making it distracting and difficult to hear. In a couple of screenings recently the speakers have made extremely offputting buzzing noises. The picture if frequently out of focus and there have been a number of times when I've watched subtitled movies where the film hasn't been lined up properly and half of the subtitles have been missing. Some of the screens are dirty too - as a regular visitor I can tell you that the screens sometimes go years without being cleaned. The patrons aren't the most respectful either. Most people come from the financial buildings that litter the area - it isn't uncommon for them to be talking all the way through the movie or to answer their phones mid-way through and happily have a conversation. The cinema is also very close to a college so occasionally you get students who often like to talk through the movies and climb over the chairs. I'm not saying that the people who go there are all bad - most of them are there to watch a movie and as usual it's the thoughtless minority who ruin it for everyone else. If there is a problem with the screening, whether it be a problem with the presentation of the movie or with a customer, don't expect any help from the Cineworld staff. They may pay a visit to the screen once during a movie and that's usually towards the end. It would be better if they came more than once, including at the start of the film to see if there were any problems. And don't expect them to stop people from talking - in fact they might be the people doing it, either in to a walky-talky or to a friend that has come in with them. The bar is quiet, soulless and criminally overpriced, usually with rude staff, and of the 2 sweets areas one is often closed, meaning there are massive queues in the one that isn't. There are plenty of problems with this cinema, but maybe they're typical of the majority of multiplexes - soulless and money grabbing, and not really caring if the customers film going experience is good or not. Despite this however, I keep going back. Many of my experiences there have been very good, but for every 3 good experiences there is usually one bad. I wish there was a better Cineworld near me, but despite all the problems, I'd not usually recommend that people go anywhere else. And who knows, maybe they'll be lucky and their film will be in focus. read more

It seems a bit weird reviewing a cinema - rather than the film I watched there, but here goes. Cineworld - West India Quay is a great asset to Canary Wharf. It would be pretty depressing not to have a decent sized, multi-screen cinema in such a vibrant area. The seats are comfy and with ample leg room. The screens, although perhaps not as big as those you will find in Leicester square - are certainly equal to what you would find at the Tottenham court Road Odeon, with pin sharp projection. I guess screen size is all relative to the auditorium size, but personally I prefer things on a more human scale. Recently I watched Gravity with a friend here. It was presented very well - with the 3D doing its thing in the predictable way. Overall it was an enjoyable experience in a not over-crowded cinema. My only criticism would be that something was slightly amiss with the sound. It seemed as though occasionally one of the surround sound speakers on the right side would suddenly kick-in with increased volume. It happened several times and I know it wasn't the mix on the film soundtrack as it was the second time I had seen the film (I saw it the week before at the Odeon, Tottenham court road). My friend didn't notice - and I didn't want to tell her that I'd already seen the film the week before. read more

Cineworld Cinema - Massively easy to spot! - Cinema Near Me - London, XGL

If you haven't noticed, Canary Wharf and the surrounding areas are very posh. Even the Tesco located inside the station feels classier than your regular store. It should not come as much of a surprise that this Cineworld is also a lot "classier" than the rest. It's very clean, nice views from the big windows, and modern in almost every way. If you have the unlimited card and live within a reachable distance, this should be on on your top 3, along with Enfield and Heymarket. I find Cineworld to be the cheapest of the big chains, so I'm happy to recommend them. For those looking to save money, they do half price tickets on Tuesdays and £10 for 2 tickets, popcorn and drinks on Thursday for selected titles. read more

I think this is probably my favorite cinema in London, thus far. First off, can we say YA! Student ticket prices!!! 6.10 to see a movie in London. I don't think you can beat that even with the 241 Orange Wednesday deal. The theaters are clean and the seating is comfortable. PLUS, they have stadium seating. I've been a stadium seating snob ever since they came out with it in cinemas 10 years ago. They seems to have a pretty good selection of movies and I'm amazed at how many theaters they have. At first glance it doesn't look like the have many, but maybe that because I'm used to cinemas in the States. I haven't been to the other Cineworld theaters. My friends live by this one so we tend to go there. read more

I've been going to this cinema for 3 or 4 years now, before it became a Cineworld cinema. I've got an Unlimited card so go to several films a month. This costs £12.99 and as the name suggests is valid for unlimited tickets. I've never seen a listing stating you couldn't use a card for a showing of any film, nor heard of anyone rejected for going too often! It's less than the cost of two trips to the cinema so well worth signing up for if you plan on seeing more than one movie a month. The only issue is you can't book online or by phone with these card anymore (there used to be a premium rate line you could call which would book the tickets for you). This seems very silly considering how useful it would be to be able to book and then just swipe your card in a machine to get the tickets, saving loads of queuing time. I guess they like to see the cards up close before you get a ticket, but these are checked again before you enter the screens anyway. This cinema itself is just by Canary Wharf - West India Quay DLR station is just along the road, or if you're coming from Canary Wharf station exit through the doors directly down the hall from the Tesco escilators, follow the square around to the right and cross the footbridge. The cineworld is behind the row of bars. There are often long queues but the staff are quite efficient and deal with them quickly. The range of films on display is ok, the latest blockbusters are always there. Considering its in the East End I expected they'd have more of their Bollywood choices but this is rarely the case, I can only think of one or two that I've ever seen listed. They occasionally have advanced previews of upcoming films. Another issue is the cost of food. This has risen considerably since Cineworld took over from UGC. Expect to spend up to a tenner on snacks for two people. Since Cineworld took over, signage about external food has been put up everywhere, though in reality the security staff have never asked to check my bags I'm still too scared to try to sneak anything in though! The screens themselves are fairly comfortable. Unlike other Cineworlds, they don't have reserved 'premium' seats and you can sit where you like. The big films get the bigger rooms, and films that have been out for a few weeks or are more specialist are in much smaller rooms. I've never had a problem finding a seat next to the person I'm with. Toilets - these are pretty clean thoughin my experience most of the male cubicles lack locks. There is a bar on the middle floor but I've never used it, it always seems quite busy though. On the first and third floors where screens are, there are snack shops for all the usual drinks/popcorn/sweets. Recently they've been refurbishing them and I noticed drinks ar eno longer self service and pick-n-mix seems to have gone (maybe a temporary thing). Perhaps people were simply not paying for most of their snacks, it was very easy to do this as there were two routes past the tills into the screens (not speaking from experience!). All in all, it's a pretty good cinema, especially if you sign up for an Unlimited card and are brave enough to try to get your own food in there! read more

Fairly accessible, being within 5 minutes walking distance from West India Quay DLR station, this Cineworld is not a bad place to find last minute seats for movies. Given the proximity to Canary Wharf, I have never entertained the idea of even buying food inside this Cineworld, better places to eat nearby along with greater selections. Like another reviewer, I also have the Cineworld unlimited card, which pays for itself each month as long as I watch 2 movies, so that is well worth it. Only thing is, when the DLR is down, it is rather difficult to reach the location - you will either have to reach Canary Wharf and track back, or get off around Poplar or Westferry and walk through. read more

The West India Quay Cineworld, though it doesn't offer anything very different to other multiplexes, has a huge range of films on offer and is oh-so convenient for the DLR station. What's more, the nearby canal-front with all its bars and restaurants is a really nice place for a post-cinema drink or meal, and often isn't too crowded on weekday evenings. read more

I am giving Cineworld West India Quay 5 stars as this is a place which I visit frequently. It is easily accessible and I have the cheaper version of the unlimited card when I am excluded from the 4 central London Cineworld. It is definitely less crowd than the ones in central London and it offers a good selection of films. Sometimes it can get a bit unpleasant when the air-conditioning is down and this is my only complaint. I normally try to avoid Wednesday as it is the Orange Wednesday where Orange customers get 2 for 1 offer on tickets. It tends to be a little more crowded than usual on Wednesdays. read more
