It's a bit weird reviewing a cinema, because it's usually the film that you're there to see, but I'm a Cineworld Unlimited member, which means I can go as many times as I want for £14.99 a month. That's a bargain. So I have several Cineworlds to choose from - West India Quay cinema (WIQ for short) is the best of them. It's a fairly standard 10-screen multiplex, but the seats are all comfy, the views are great from every seat, and I'll happily make the trek from Clapham to WIQ rather than go into W1, because they have more films on show. There's a Tesco and Burger King in nearby Cabot Square, but you have to sneak your food in because they don't like it when you do that :)

Star seats, you can actually sneak on them after the movie has started

Cineworld has 10 reasonably big screens and a variety of movies on show also will offer good food and drink. You will enjoy it!

Standard Cineworld - nothing too exciting but has a good variety of cinemas - I found it a bit hard to locate

It is easily accessible and I have the cheaper version of the unlimited card when I am excluded from the 4 central London Cineworld.

This is a much older cinema and as such it is far cheaper than the Vue in Westfeilds. The positives include cheap ticket prices especially for students, a bar for drinks for the movie, and friendly staff. However, the negatives include cramped seats and old cinema. I was particularly uncomfortable during my last visit as the seats are quite cramped. I have short legs at 5.5' so my husband whose much taller than me was super cramped!! This is a massive draw back for movies as you have to sit for a few hours! However, I'm always a fan of Picture House cinemas as they have a more art-house less corporate feel compared to other main stream cinemas. For Stratford, this remains a very good option. Also one final note, it is often cheaper to buy a membership than the tickets. I've now ended up with a membership twice in a row as buying the annual membership is the cheapest option. With a membership you get two free tickets, two pounds off every ticket, and 20% off of drinks. Not too shabby if I do say so myself!

Even if you aren't going on a monday, there isn't a cheaper cinema around and the food/drink are also reasonably priced.

The layout is very much the same but the facilities have benefitted from a much needed upgrade like the toilets have been done up, almost all the screens now have premiere seats located at the back. The establishment has decided to get rid of the waffles and replace it with milkshake a instead. Also, they have an array of chocolate bars to add to the shake mixs such as, toffee crisp, malteasers, rollo etc. This is a great addition, especially when you are considering the nice cold drinks to go with the summer films. Additionally, look at your full price receipt brought at the box office as they have been giving out 2 4 1tickets as a nice bonus!

Obviously it works really well for me because I just roll out of my apartment into a theater seat. I can imagine it would work rather well for people living around Canada Water/Rotherhithe because the SQLP complex is rather well served by buses and is a quick walk from Surrey Quays and Canada Water stations. Negative points because of the recent rise in tickets. I remember paying below £7 for several shows once upon a time. That seems like a distant memory now - or perhaps I'm just missing something. Also, for no fault of theirs they have to be penalized because of the lack of pre- and post- movie things to do.

A very representable price tag. I think we even attended on a crazy Monday and got half price tickets. They have a bar in the waiting area where you can buy drinks of all sorts and sweets or ice cream (no popcorn if I remember rightly) which is prob a good and less busy place to pop in for a cuppa anytime anyway. The cinema itself usually has most higher rated films showing on release and extremely generous seating throughout. Screen are on the smaller side but overall that doesn't detract from the experience unless you want an IMAX experience or something totally in your face. Barbican is definitely worth a trip for those wanting to avoid mainstream cinemas. Xyz

Oddly, when we bought our tickets, he showed us a tattered seating chart and asked us which seats we'd like, but had to look up our request in the computer to see if they're already taken, which led to the following conversation: "how about those?" "sorry I'm afraid those are taken. "how about those?" "sorry I'm afraid..." etc. The one twist was the classy food - scones, quiche, and an extensive wine list - which we weren't expecting. While I'm a fan beer / wine in movies, we actually just wanted some popcorn and sweets...
