Been going to this cinema since I was a very young child, and so I have some find memories of seeing films here with my family, as well as the atmosphere in the cinema, and the excitement I get seeing a film. The screens 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 are pretty much the exact same size and shape, except for some small differences in seating layout, Screen 9 is the Vue Xtreme, which is their largest screen, and Screen 1 is very big and only just smaller than 9. Customer service is quite good, in the times I've brought tickets at the counter they've been very friendly and attentive, and also at the ticket gate they've made sure to smile and hope I enjoy the film. Snacks are on the expensive side, so I'd advise bringing your own snacks- they allow it and have done for a few years now. The screen sound systems are really good, you hear zero outside noise and you do tend to get quite absorbed in it. The screen quality is also good, they use Sony 4k Digital projectors, and if you look really closely (I've seen this on the website, I've not attempted it) the pixels are virtually invisible. The photo posted down below is of screen 10. When you're seeing a film in this screen, first you show your ticket at the normal gate upstairs, once they've scanned it, they will then hand you a pin code that you enter into the lock outside screen 10. It's a fairly small space, the seats however are very comfortable, with plenty legroom, the same sound experience you get from the main screens, and as there aren't many seats here, anywhere you sit is a good distance from the screen. read more

Vue Islington - Screen 10, Downstairs, on the right - Cinema Near Me - Islington, XGL

I mean what can I say? It's a classic chain cinema. Pros: Central location, small screens so that you're not 'sharing' the film with 200 people. Salty popcorn was nice and not too salty They sell decent booze if that's you're thing Bathrooms are massive an very clean Cons: It's pretty soulless It's more than £14 a ticket - obscene On a Saturday night it was pretty dead I was used to my previous neighbourhood chain which I think was a lot better. It was always buzzing and tickets where only around £9. read more

I went to a screening last night for "Straight Outta.... " and the customer service didn't disappoint! The tickets were purchased online so when we arrived at the cinema, we only had to retrieve the tickets from the automated machine...No waiting in line for us lol. When ordering from the concession line, the server really paid attention to detail. She asked how I wanted my salsa and cheese spread on my nachos and she wasn't satisfied until I gave her very specific instructions. She's going far in the industry of customer service. As I was leaving the concession counter, a row broke out behind me. Someone decided to form two lines instead of joining one line. There were two women rowing with two men on who was next in line and I felt empathy for our concession server... She didn't observe the situation in its entirety to know which pair to believe because she was too busy serving me. Fortunately, a professional smile never left her face and the server didn't lose their cool. read more

It shows new release movies on nice screens with comfortable chairs. An upgrade to VIP won't kill you and the chairs are pretty nice. If you are on a date, make them pay for this, it's only fair since you've agreed to join them. Otherwise...hmphhh. The concessions are sloooooooooooooooower than the buttery drool atop the popcorn. So slow. It's magnificent to watch the sheer inefficiency of the entire operation. Luckily ticket sales and getting into the theater seats isn't quite so painful, but good god someone hire a COO of concessions, these people need some direction in their lives. It's overpriced, but not so much so that I will stop going. Sometimes you want to see a film aith 400 people on a large screen and you will pay for the privilege. Own it. At about £12.50, the pleasure is yours. *Easy access from Angel tube. *The commercials before the most recent movie were THIRTY MINUTES. So no need to rush. *I noticed they have special low-volume autism showings for kids/parents, worth looking into if so desired. read more

Overall I like this cinema and visit quite often but it's OK, not perfect. The cinemas themselves are pretty good and a reasonable size and there is usually a good selection of films on offer. On occasion (last night included) it appears there could benefit from a few more employees working there to keep the place better organised, especially when crowded. With the £12 ticket prices, you would think they could stretch to that. They could also do with more ticket machines in the entry area (1 out of the 4 broken) as it gets pretty busy at the weekend. Online booking system is also temperamental at times. read more

My local movie-theatre... And probably one of the better cinemas in London (Lucky me, woo!) The lobby is nice enough, obviously as with any cinema it's ludicrously overpriced for snacks and drinks. The staff are all friendly enough (this has definitely improved over the last year IMHO). The actual theatres range from small-large - I much prefer the Vue Extreme theatre (screen 9 I believe) as the screen is massive and the sound quality is out-of-this world!! Definitely worth 10-minutes travel from Leicester Sq as the cinemas there are absolutely appalling in comparison! read more

I adore Vue Islington, invariably visiting when a new God-awful chick flick is out that I need to see in the name of my abiding love for all that is pop cultural. Sex and the City: The Movie, The Devil Wears Prada, I confess to have seen them all here. And it's not just the largely commercial flicks that East London's 'cultural centres' would not dare to screen that keep me coming, Vue Islington is genuinely a very nice cinema. It's clean, well lit and perfectly located just off Upper Street meaning you can probably sneak in some high quality takeaways to go with your low rent film. Best of all? Vue Islington has a liquor license. Yes, that's right, you can buy a whole bottle of pinot grigio to liven up your picture going experience and if the soppy film makes you cry? Blame it on the booze. read more

At a time when I was thinking of bumping this Vue up to three stars they go and give me reasons not to. The prices are far to high. At a shade under £15 for some screens this is unjustifiable, they'll tell you that these are their 'Xtreme' screens (huge screens which, due to their size, one tends to sit further away from thus practically eliminating the point of a huge screen) but when the film you want to see is only showing in these huge screens then you are not left with much choice but to pay the over-inflated prices. This isn't an isolated occurrence, though, as Vue cinemas everywhere over charge. Aside from not receiving value for money (standard adult tickets are over £12) this place was on the up - ever so slightly. Often times there still is small, chattery groups when I visit. Again, this is a pan-Vue/ODEON problem. However, The staff have recently found they're smiles. For a number of visits now whoever has served me has been pleasant and rather cheery. On my last jaunt my server was positively buoyant! And, what's more, the toilets are actually quite clean. One step forward and one step back. There it is. Ian read more

What is there to say about this Vue in the Angel. It is pretty good sized, has 9 theatres, shows almost all of the big films and even some of the smaller, less known ones. I have never had a problem getting seats here, not because no one comes here, but because there is such a wide array of shows, it is easy to show up 10 minutes before and get a good seat. The downsides are that at any time on the weekend, the queues for snacks and beverages are a bit long and terribly slow. It took me 15 minutes from getting in line to getting my drink and candy. Regardless, the theatre always appears clean, easy to get around at and the seats are quite comfortable too. read more

I have been to this cinema twice in the past month and I really like it. On the walk from the station to Vue the street is very dark and empty but the cinema itself is really well maintained. If you go to a late showing, they usually close the box office so you buy your tickets from the credit card machines or from the popcorn vendors upstairs where the cinema screens are. They always have plenty of staff on the food counters so there are no major waits there but they don't allow patrons into the cinema until the film is about to start so you have to wait in line at the lobby for a while. This cinema is really popular with students because they do a £6.60 student ticket regardless of time or day unlike some of the more expensive west end cinemas. The nearest tube stop is Angel. read more

I'm a big fan of Vue Islington. It's my local theater, so maybe I'm slightly biased, but the tickets seem a bit cheaper than other theaters in central London, the screens seem much better, and they play tons of movies. Also, between you and me, they have an excellent Ben and Jerry's selection. Never disappoints. read more

Probably one of the better cinema options in metro London, if not just for its proximity to the Angel station. As with anything concerning entertainment, admission can be pricey but not intolerable. Place is tidy and generally well run. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. read more

A local cinema for North Londoners, in the N1 Islington Shopping Centre, a few minutes walk from Angel Station. They have a large foyer and there are plenty of cubicle in the Ladies (the one near the screening rooms is tiny, only two cubicles). The seating in all the Screens are tiered so great views wherever you sit. Do not like that they put the lights on as soon as the credits roll (they say it is for health and safety, so people can see if they need to leave during the credits) and it is on a timer for when the film finishes, so if it starts late, it comes on sooner than it should! Annoying. read more

Yeah, it's not Every Man, or as comfy as the Screen on the Green... and yeah, it gets rowdy, especially when you're on an opening night and you've got loud and drunk folks watching the movie right along with you... Yeah, it's too loud, and you need ear plugs to watch a movie in this cinema. Yeah, the staff are non plussed, and the security guard looks and sounds like a 2 bit version of Sly Stallone in Cop Land. But hey. It's a blockbuster mainstream movie house. And it has pop corn and candy. So put up, or shut up... ;-) read more

Really hit and miss here with the staff, sometimes you get friendly people and other items people really not interested in being helpful. The last few films I've been to see, staff come into the film and shine lights to check for people videoing, it becomes very distracting and can spoil the film. For the location and facilities, it's definitely overpriced. I think it could use renovation with the seats and then would justify the ticket price more. read more

That's my great local cinema ! And they finally had the good idea to remove the twenty-odd TV sets from the 1990s in the main lobby. Still a bit expensive on week-end nights, but the seats are comfy and the picture quality is excellent. read more

This is my current local, and it's ok for a multiplex, but unfortunately they charge islington prices, so £9 a ticket in the evening. There is a fairly good range of films on, and usually a foreign film, at the moment the baader meinhof conspiracy I think. Some of the screens are really small, so its worth getting to a film when it opens, when you can presume it will be on the biggest screen. The dark knight looked pretty good here. Tends to have chattering teenagers sitting on the back row which is always a pain. read more

There's nothing that will blow you away with this cinema. And actually, when I saw the King's Speech here last week, I was in the smallest screen I'd ever been in. It's a rare thing to be able to see every single person watching the film with you. But, staff were friendly, there's a lot of self-service ticket machines and they didn't mind when I rocked up with shopping bags from Sainsburys (which had breakfast goodies in for Sunday morning). If there's a film you want to see, and you're nearby, go nuts. But I wouldn't make a special trip across town. read more

The Vue is fine if you're just looking for a low impact night out and live within very easy travelling distance. They show all the big films and have enough screens that you'll rarely miss out. The screens themselves are OK size and quality-wise, and you can get any form of confectionery to bring in if you're willing to pay an inflated price. However, it's generally crowded and (worst of all) noisy as people do not seem to respect the whole 'don't talk while the film is showing' rule. Do yourself a favour and see something at the Screen on the Green if you possibly can! read more

This is actually one of the nicer cinemas about. Obviously it is riotously expensive, but I think that now goes for virtually all cinemas in London. It has big comfy seats, and lots of screens, so there is usually quite alot on, and also quite a lot of choice. I prefer to go in the day time when I can, as then its nice and empty and you feel like your the only people there! read more

Now I like to think of myself as a bit of a film buff, and when I go to the cinema I tend to go to the indie ones to see films with subtitles or unknown casts rather than big budget blockbusters at massive chain cinemas like the Vue, but despite my desire to paint myself as a cultured individual I must admit that there are some Hollywood films that draw me into the greedy clutches and arena seating of the multiplex, and when they send out their siren call to me I normally wend my way to the Vue. Now I could go on and on about the exorbitant prices charged here, not just for the tickets but also for the snacks, which are an essential part of the blockbuster viewing experience but also push me into my overdraft every time, with £4.60 for a medium coke seeming somewhat unreasonable, but lets be honest, we all know that going to the cinema nowadays is a pricey affair, and that the concession stand is where these companies can part us schmucks with umpteen of our pounds, so I'll focus instead on the experience inside of the cinema. Which is great. Big comfy seats, all laid out so you can actually SEE if someone with a massive head/hat/hairstyle sits in front of you; great quality sound and picture; air conditioning; and best of all, they have screens which are EQUIPPED WITH 3D, so you get to wear funky glasses and feel like the film is reaching out to you. I went to see Coraline at the Vue this weekend and honestly, even though I don't rate the film that much, I will now see every single movie released which is available for viewing in 3D, because it's SO AWESOME. Wow. So yes, it's expensive, and yes the choice of films is very mainstream, but sometimes you just want to watch an action film or a pixar movie or ANYTHING WHICH IS IN 3D [yes I'm still on that, I think it will take me at least a week to get over my 3D related excitement] and that's when you should hit the Vue. read more

Cinema is so expensive! But at least here it is clean and the seats are big and comfy. And there is a Sainsburys across the street so you can buy your film snacks there to save some cash and/or food poisoning. Handy hint, if you are going in the week check out lastminute.com for half price standby tickets. The weeknight shows at Vue are rarely sold out unless it is a blockbuster which has just been released. Bargain! read more

Typical multiplex cinema. Over priced (best part of a tenner) uncomforty and full of noisy kids. Its just stairs of the N1 shopping mall in Angel, showing all the usual blockbusters. If you been to one you been to them all. Overpriced food and drink impatient staff. If your going to one of these chain cinema then you can do worst but at the same time nothing particularly special. But as Angel is a great place to go out(plenty of bars and restaurant and no chavs) then I guess would recommend this over some of the other cinemas. read more

If you want to see a film and ur in Islington/Angel, this is the place to go. Its big, clean and well priced - as you would expect with any cinema chain. Top Tip: If ur going on a fri/sat night or Orange Wed and there is a big guy downstairs - go upstairs and buy your tickets with ur food!! Skip the queue! (i didnt believe it first time round tbh) :) read more

Big auditorium with nice arena seating - a good view of the screen and comfortable too. However, when we went on a Sunday it was absolutely packed, with queues running out of the front door just to get your ticket checked on the way into the screen (no idea why). In all, a fairly standard multiplex with most of the major releases. Nothing out of the ordinary though. Obviously the numerous restaurants/bars around Upper Street are handy - check out Chillango a couple of doors down for a quick burrito before you catch a film! read more

This is my local cinema, yes it's a bit on the pricey side but I normally only go to the cinema to watch 'blockbusters' so I just deal with it. Buy the tickets from the machine to save time, buy the sweets from Sainsbury's to save money and you're there. read more

This is an excellent multiplex hidden away in Islington and is probably the best multiplex in London. It's fairly big and always offers plenty of choice. Prices are very good for the area, and the cinema seems very modern and it's very clean. It can get quite busy for big screenings, but luckily the foyer is huge. There is also a very big sweets counter with plenty of people serving so you never have long to wait. The quality of the screenings is always excellent and you get the impression that the staff really care that you have a good experience while you're there. Other customers are also very well behaved and every time I've been there I've enjoyed myself immensely. It's also clean, fun, vibrant and friendly - everything you could ever ask from a multiplex. read more

The Vue in Islington. I have very mixed views about the place so I can't decide whether this will be a positive review or not. Hmm. I'll bullet-point it and see if there are more positives or negatives: * Good: the location. Easy to get to by tube, bus. * Bad: the toilets. Why, oh why, is it so hard to keep toilets clean, stocked up with toilet paper and LOCKABLE?! I went in 4 cubicles before I found one with toilet paper AND a lock. Not only this but there was water (please let it be water) all over the floor, there were broken toilet paper holders and empty soap dispensers. It doesn't say much about The Vue's regard for its patrons. In a chain cinema, in a central location, tickets costing up to £9.70, I don't think it's too much to demand decent facilities and not to be expected to drip-dry. * Good: the 4 ticket machines in the entrance mean that you can buy tickets with the bonus of not having to speak to a member of staff (see below). In theory this should be quicker. * Bad: not one time that I have been to The Vue have all 4 machines been in working order at the same time. This can be extremely frustrating. Lucy (my cinema buddy) is far more organised than me and usually gets there first. On one occasion, she patiently waited in the queue, got all the way to the front and the machine crashed just as she was using it. She had to sheepishly shuffle to the back of the next queue and suffer the daggering looks of others in the queue who were loudly muttering "What has she done to the machine? She's broken it, hasn't she...probably can't deal with new technology, silly woman... we have to start queuing all over again now..." * Good: there is a handy screen above the ticket machines with details of what films are showing and exactly how many seats are left in each. As we were queuing for Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona (great film if a) you like Woody Allen b) you love Barcelona or c) you have a thing for Javier Bardem who broods his way from the 'action' to 'cut'. Mmm. But disappointing if you're - as the trailer might have you - expecting hot girl-on-girl scenes between Scarlett and Penélope, just so you know), the number of seats clicked over to zero so we hightailed it outta there to the Screen on the Green (see Screen on the Green!). * Bad: the staffing. Lucy and I tend to go during the week when there are never staff on the ticketing tills which means that you have to use the ticket machines, which also means that you have to use a debit / credit card. Sometimes I want to use cash, goddammit! * Good: the screens are big, the seats are comfortable and clean. Ish. * Bad: the attentiveness of the staff, when they are there. After getting your ticket from the machine, you head on upstairs where you are again confronted with numerous queues up to the concession stands and to get to the 9 screens. This is where the lack of attentiveness comes in. Picture this: the film was about to start. The staff were busy talking amongst themselves about something work-related but it could have waited and none of them was acknowledging the queue. I don't like being ignored (see The Cuckoo Club) and I like even less paying nigh on a tenner to miss the beginning of a film because the staff were too busy to take care of what should have been their priority. I eventually decided to just walk on through (the film was about to start after all), only to be stopped like a thief walking out of Woolies (RIP), coat pockets stuffed with pick n mix. This doesn't endear me to a place. Well that leaves it even Stevens. 4 goods, 4 bads. I want to give it 2.5 stars but I can't so I'm going for 2. Decision made. read more

The cinema is pretty good and reasonably sized, there is also a good selection of films on offer. BUT, its DAMN expensive for whats on offer, film ticket prizes are CRAZY, do not even bother ordering a drink OR pop corns, because you will need a LOAN or a CREDIT CARD with a good limit on it if you go to this cinema with the family!!!.. AVOID. unless you are taking your wife, girlfriend or mistress out and showing off!!..... read more

I frequent the Vue in Islington on a weekly basis. As it is in the N1 Centre, there are a lot of shops and restaurants (chains, of course) to visit before or after a film. The facilities are clean and generally prompt. The queues can be quite long whether it be to retrieve bookings or to buy from the concession stand, so make sure you get there at least 15 minutes before your film starts. All in all, a fine cinema. read more

There are two choices for cinema in Islington. The vue in Angel or the Odeon on Holloway road. Unfortunately the larger screens are in the Odeon which is not as conveniently located. Vue is cleaner in general but I suspect they have the resources due to the heavier footfall. However I can endure a smelly toilet provided the experience, i.e the screen is big and the sound very immersive. Vue does have the sound but not the size. Still, the convenience of Vue as part of a night out does make it an unmovable necessity and I am happy to have it around. read more

If you want to watch the latest blockbuster this is the place to come. With 9 screens it can seat up to 1.750 people. Even so, it always seems busy, especially on Orange Wednesdays when people flock to claim the 2/4/1 offer. I've wandered in late a couple of times on a Wednesday only to be faced with the prospect of sitting at the very front because the rest of the cinema is full to bursting. It's not cheap, £9.70 for an adult ticket at peak times, but they do student discount and obviously the Orange Wednesday's make it more affordable. Located as it is just off Upper Street in Angel, you are spoiled for choice with Restaurants and bars for pre or post cinema indulgence. read more

Yesterday the person who served us was miserable and sloppy, sold us the wrong seats and charged us extra for our seats

As a movie junkie when ever there is some more commercial flick I desperately or (even secretively) want to see, I like going to this Vue cinema in Angel. Even though it is a proper chain with massive space, size and selection, commercials before the movie lasts forever at all that show, it is not as busy as the branch in central. They give alright discount for students and over all, everything just always works. AND what is most important is what happens after movies. Angel is one of my favorite areas in London so drinks after movie are always on the schedule. read more

You can always find at least one or two good films on at this great little multiplex in islington. The prices are good and cheap, the staff are nice and seem knowledgable about the films on offer, and the seats are comfy. There's also a couple of nice pubs in the area for pre or post cinema drinks, or you might try one of the many local restaurants (there's a great eat all you can for x quid place directly opposite). Obviously VUE is a chain, showing mainstream movies, so don't expect to see anything here, that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Still compared to its rivals in the area, it is the best choice.
