I really enjoyed the green onion and wish they would have added more. The meal absolutely destroyed my stomach, I actually felt sick when I got up from the table. Came here for a Sunday morning brunch! I feel like there is a lot of hype because of the trendy location but the wait, service and food were just...ok. We put our names on the waitlist and were fully prepared to hear something ridiculous. Thankfully, they quoted 45 minutes for our group of 5. Our server seemed to be very inexperienced and messed up splitting the check 3 times, which isn't the worst thing ever but slightly inconvenient. She also awkwardly and indirectly told us that she would prefer us to leave so that we could clear up space for the next group. The coffee was excellent, with a strong flavor but still smooth. The red velvet pancakes were plentiful but not amazing; they tasted like regular pancakes with food color. I wish they tasted a bit more like the cake. The walnut french toast was GREAT. Great crunch from the nuts and perfect level of sweetness. The chicken and waffles were ok. I don't mind getting down and dirty and eating fried chicken with my hands, but the bones made it a little difficult to eat with the Belgian waffles. The sad part was that the much raved about buffalo chicken mac n cheese wasn't that great :( The cheese wasn't creamy enough for my liking and it overall lacked flavor. The pancake was nice and fluffy, not too sweet, and simply topped with powdered sugar. With the syrup, butter, and fruit - it made for a great filling breakfast (for me). I don't usually eat too much, so one pancake and one cup of fruit was enough for me! My friends and I also split a mimosa carafe. So we went and our wait was 2 hours (our fault for getting there at peak hours) but when we were finally seated they brought us to a round table directly to the right of the door. And at first it looks cute and some what private from the dining room but then we quickly realized that it was like infested with flies. We think that it was a combination of the humidity and maybe the window was a breeding ground for them. But there were a few on the windows and the walls around us. When we sat they would zoom across us from wall to wall and fly directly over the table at our eye level. Some even landed on us. It was super uncomfortable and honestly disgusting because there were so many. We got moved to a better spot but the restaurant should look into fixing that area. My hubby and I came here on a Tuesday night at 7:45 and we were seated right away. The restaurant was not packed but still had quite a bit of business. We have been wanting to try this place out for awhile now. Each time we are in Bishop Arts we walk by and it looks so cool. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our server didn't ask how I would like my burger cooked but I didn't think anything of it until it came out... perfectly. Our food arrived within ten to fifteen minutes. I was actually surprised at how quickly it came out. The burger was a perfect medium and loaded with onions and bleu cheese. The bun was soft but toasted on the inside to prevent the juice from the burger from making it soggy. The fries were delicious and well seasoned and you could tell they were fresh. My hubby liked his chicken and waffles. I snagged a bite of the waffle and it was delicious. Just the right amount of sweet to the savory chicken. I was impressed with the owner/manager... whoever he was. He made an effort to stop at each table to see how their meal was. He was friendly and attentive, just like our server. Fun place for brunch with excellent people-watching, although I didn't find the food to be a great value or particularly interesting. I'd heartily recommend the Bloody Mary, a beautifully-presented drink with a fiery kick and garnished with a tasty mini carrot. The curry deviled eggs appetizer is also gorgeous, and delicious - although I thought $8 was a bit steep for four egg halves. For the main course I got the Fried Green Tomato BLT. The heavy fried tomato was on the bland side and kind of put a damper on the whole sandwich. Halfway through, I was regretting my choice, although I did enjoy the nice side salad that came with it. Stay away from the biscuits and gravy. The leaden, cold biscuit was covered with a layer of limpid gravy, and lacked the moist flakiness that usually makes this Southern staple so satisfying. Inexplicably, the dish was accompanied by two slices of toast. My meal did end on a high note, as I tried the old-fashioned with the house-made peach nectar (look for the jar full of peaches above the bar). I'm a really kind and understanding person, but from a business aspect I have a few things to say. I've also worked in the food industry for 10 years and I'm really disappointed with the overall vibe of this place First off, when we entered no one greeted us or asked if we would like a table. If it was open seating that was not explained either. There was a manager on the floor including two servers, a barista and a bar tender. Something I observed that was seriously lacking was the staff acknowledging customers walking into their resturant via eye contact or through spoken word. I was given the impression that 70% of the staff here hate their job and seemed so unhappy given their body language and lack of customer service. When we ordered our food I had to go after my server several times to ask for silverware, syrup for a waffle, to order more food, etc. I felt as though I was the server dictating the experience. At this point there were only a few tables in the resturant and when I went to find my server she was chatting with another server standing without a sense of urgency or a sense of caring about her customers or her job. If I have to ask once for something, that's understandable, but after three times that's poor service to have to ask your server repeatedly for things you need. Lastly, I ordered a cortado. When it was delivered to my table by a manager the plate was a little shaky in his hands and milk spilled all over the plate surrounding the glass as he placed it on the table. He did not apologize to me or ask if I would like it remade. Like I said, the people here seem to hate their job so much. The cortado was the worst coffee drink I have ever had. I am a barista, bareback, and someone with serving experience so I can say that in confidence. It had zero micro foam and was hotter than a latte probably steamed at about 180-200 degrees. It literally looked like someone had poured drip coffee into a small ounce glass and added a splash of cream to it. Moving forward, I won't be going here again for a long time because of such an unpleasant experience. ODDFELLOWS! You have so much potential to be a great place. If you are unhappy or hate your job work somewhere else! A revamping of staff and management could make this place great and the #1 talked about coffee house in Dallas.
