I guess you can say I'm a frequent visitor at this place. But this week may have made it my last. Once checked in , it took an additional 25 minutes to be seated just for a party of three. While you could visibly see open tables just waiting to be cleaned. When we finally sat down, we were once again ignored for 10-15 minutes. It was only once a different party sat next to us did our waiter approach. We immediately placed our orders and drinks but never got even a glass of water while waiting on our food and drinks to come after another 20 minutes. Overall If you'd like to eat on time and be hydrated i wouldn't choose Oddfellows. Not sure if it's the pandemic that is putting a constraint on their quality of staff/waiters but it's a big turn off. Especially if you're just going for brunch. read more

Mac was the perfect buttery and cheesy consistency and surprisingly paired perfectly with the buffalo chicken. I got the Fried Chicken and Waffle and I was hesitant to get it due to mixed reviews of the chicken being too dry but luckily mine wasn't! Not too crunchy but not too soft on the fried. And you can't simply mess up a waffle. Hubby got the Brisket Hash with egg cooked however you like it. His was leas heavier than mines but still filling and flavorful. Service was great. There's a coffee bar in the front, and you can sit outside & enjoy the nice weather as there are windows that swing open at the bar. We sat inside and had the pork belly benedict. It was SOOO GOOD! The perfectly poached egg combined with the toast, pork belly, arugula, and whatever that amazing sauce was DEEELISH. Decided to try this place out & I was very pleased. Oddfellows is particularly noted for their coffee and espresso. Great neighborhood brunch spot located in Bishop Arts District. I Highly recommend this location. The patio has a great atmosphere for hanging out and drinking mimosas and has some shade coverage. Their eggs Benedict and beignets are awesome! Oddfellows is a charming place that offers some of your basic foods with a slightly gourmet flair. The ambiance is pleasant and we were promptly greeted. Happy hour monday- Friday 3-7pm. Small space but very functional. Parking space wasn't very good, restaurant was kind of congested due to limited space. The restaurant was spotless and had a relaxed, very casual atmosphere. The service from the waitress was prompt. I would return here when I am in the Bishop Arts District again. read more

Went for brunch with a friend this past Sunday. LOVED that I could add myself to the waitlist via Yelp! I hope other restaurants start utilizing that feature because it is life-changing. Why two stars? -The waitress was a doll, so if I could rate her solo she would be 5/5! -Parking stinks, but that is for all of Bishop Arts, not just Oddfellows. Feel free to use the valet if that's your jam, just not mine. (Hate strangers driving my car and the idea of paying someone to park my car 5 feet away is a personal pet peeve.) -Ordered a matcha latte and it was delicious but it took over 15 minutes to get it. I know it was slammed, but other orders were coming out and mine was forgotten.. twice. It took my waitress standing at the bar staring at him to finally get my drink out, not cool dude. Pimento Cheese Dip was the star of the show! YUM! Gimme more of those pickles that come on the side, too. I ordered the breakfast scramble of the day (cream cheese, salmon, eggs). It was bland and the eggs were too runny to be called scrambled. Also, I had ZERO cream cheese. Maybe it was cooked into the eggs? If so, I couldn't taste any. I also asked for them to use dill and didn't see a speck of the herb. (I know they have it as it is on other menu options.) The salmon was lacking in flavor and quantity. Maybe I just got a bad serving?! Would I come back? If a friend picked this place, sure, but I will never go out of my way to come back. Especially NOT with the 1hr+ wait they had. The Hueveos Rancheros and buttermilk pancake were up to snuff, but upon their arrival to our table, the person bringing us our food (not our waitress) informed us my wife's order of biscuits & gravy wasn't coming, as they ran out. After 30 minutes of waiting we're informed this as half of the table's order comes out. Not good! We were then informed that the only thing that would be quick would be on the "starter" menu. So, the only way my wife and I would be able to share a meal would be for her to get an appetizer. How pathetic. Our waitress was nice and it was clear it was a breakdown of communication between the kitchen and rest of the staff. It was clear a large portion of the staff was under trained and not concerned with hospitality. I went on an impromptu trip to Bishop Arts at 2 in the afternoon. Odd fellows was one of a select few of restaurants open for lunch. I initially sat at one of the bar windows outside then realized I was sitting in front of the bar trash can, which smelled pretty bad. I would definitely recommend they either move the trash can or close that window seating. It's pretty unsanitary to be serving food, drinks and eating over a full trash can. I decided to move to the patio seating instead. I'm not sure if it was just the day but the flies were HORRIBLE! I literally cut my meal short because of the flies. Regarding the food. I had a Cesar salad with chicken (+$5) and I wanted a little extra so I added bacon. I definitely should have asked how much bacon would be because it was $4 for bacon bits‍. The dressing or the bacon, whichever, was a little salty. The Buffalo Mac and Cheese was good. It was fairly simple Buffalo chicken strips on Mac and cheese. Overall I have checked this place off my list. Can't say I would recommend or go back. read more

I've been hearing rumblings on the street that Oddfellows is looking to improve their menu and that I should stop by. Unfortunately on this visit I was unable to try the new entrees because it was before 5pm. I settled on the fried okra and fried green tomato BLT. The fried okra was good. I've not been served whole fried okra before. It's a nice change to a great southern appetizer. It's served with Mayo on the side. The BLT was tasty. I just wished that the bacon was thick cut or that the fried green tomatoes would have been cut thinner to allow for a better ratio of tomatoes and bacon. My tomato's were so thick I couldn't taste too much of the bacon flavor that one looks for in a BLT. On my visit I had no issues with service. I was greeted at the door and instructed to sit where I liked. The only thing that was alarming was the draft beer. It's not cold. If you serve Draft those kegs must be kept very cold. It's nothing better than I icy cold draft beer. I was unable to get it here Based on what I got today. I will come back and try out the new menu entrees. read more

Today is April 1st. Dined around 6-7:30ishPM. I'm currently sitting here at Oddfellows waiting to pay, with family closing out a week of birthdays for 3 of us. I wish I could say this review is positive and exciting, but no. This is our *FIRST* visit. My TLDR is: I do not recommend going here if you're looking for excellent service. If you're going for drinks and maybe a patio to chill on with little to no engagement with wait staff, then yes. Be patient. Your food will take a while. If you get my specific waiter, your drinks will take even longer. My experience tonight: 1) Service. Our waiter was disengaged and was never available to assist us. We're a table of 9, ranging in ages of 14 to 73 yrs old, and all patient individuals. Didn't make a fuss, although extremely observant. Our waiter stayed at the bar, often in/near the kitchen, and never stopped to see if we needed anything. Our drinks took *FOREVER* to arrive. Only 2 people ordered a cocktail, the youngest ordered hot tea, another wanted Sprite, the rest had water. It literally took nearly 35 minutes to receive 3 drinks that supposedly had to come from the bar (the 2 cocktails and the tea). After delivering the water he disappeared. We missed the opportunity to order apps due to the timespan between our arrival, ordering drinks, actually getting drinks and the appropriate time to order apps. After placing our meal orders we needed more water. 9 people couldn't locate him. We flagged another to help us. When he reappeared he came to change the table setting...removing the salt/pepper & sugar containers and replaced it with the candle lights. Never said excuse me. Didn't ask if we needed anything. Didn't check on us at all. Never spoke. No engagement. Then, he's gone again. We needed more water, but we just waited for our food since we were so hungry. Food finally arrives. The individuals who brought our food were EXTREMELY POLITE. Specifically, the young lady with the dark hair in a ponytail was attentive and kind while placing our food on the table. Our waiter delivered the last 2 dishes and left again. We needed mayo, and syrup with our meal, but couldn't find him. My niece, the tea drinker, needed sugar. So I got up and grabbed the container with the sugar from the side table where he placed it, myself. Whenever he did finally return again, we had to give a laundry list of items at once in fear we wouldn't see him again. Needed refills of water and Sprite, mayo, extra syrup, etc. He never once came to ask us how the food was or if everything came out correctly. 1 of the burgers did not, but my 73yr old aunt is not someone that likes to make a fuss over anything. We did what we could to enjoy each other's company. We don't event know his name. This is how disengaged he was. None of us can recall him formally introducing himself. We just know he's tall, curly hair, pretty eyes, but disappears and doesn't engage his customers. - we've just paid and about to leave - saving and will edit to finish in the car. 2) Ambiance. Cute setup, but the Gnats were annoying. We sat along the wall near the hallway to the restrooms. Gnats were all around. There were even gnats in the bathroom. We constantly had to wave our hands around throughout our entire visit. 3) Food. The food was good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it tasted great. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm, but I was fine. I was just hungry. We noticed the table next to us sitting in the window had a greater experience. We could overhear their laughter and the staff member making a "Ms. Cleo" joke. This is important, because this is when my aunt commented saying "I wish we had that waiter." read more

It's Sunday and what do we do on Sundays? Brunch of course! This place offers outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor seating is fairly shaded by a large tree and also umbrellas. I did notice a few outdoor fans as well. When we arrived the hostess informed us that the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half. We agreed to the wait and decided to walk around the square and explore. Took about 40 minutes for our table to be ready. We ordered quite a few different entrees and beverages to get a range of flavors. Honestly I have no complaints about anything we were served! A chefs kiss is due for the quality of the food and drinks! Highly recommend you get a charcuterie board with a mimosa before ordering your main course! Overall would recommend this for anyone. I've come back two times since my last review, and I unfortunately I feel like I have to knock down a star for a couple reasons. The first time, we decided to sit outside because it was a nice day, but they put us all the way in the far corner next to some standing water, even though there were many outside tables still available. I wouldn't mind any of that, except for the fact that we (and our food) were COVERED in flies. Our hands were constantly waving them away, I don't think there was a single 30-second time span during which one of us didn't wave one away. The second time was this past weekend for my birthday brunch, and things were definitely better (we chose to sit inside), but I was a tad disappointed with my chicken and waffles -- the chicken portions were much smaller than we usually get, and they were mostly skin and not very much meat. But, still four stars because I still love this place. Coffee prices are great, juice and other drinks are fresh, pancake OTD was delicious (banana, pecan, walnut), used Yelp/NoWait to cut down our time and were seated relatively promptly given that it was 11am on a Saturday, and our server was great and very accommodating by helping my friends surprise me at the end :) read more

Oddfellows is the patriarch of Oak Cliff IMO. This restaurant has been around for 10+ years and for very good reasons. The food is amazing, the menu is unique and includes brunch favorites, and the atmosphere is lively. This is my go to brunch spot to take friends when they are visiting Dallas. There is usually a wait especially on the weekends so I would recommend putting your name on the wait list and then checking out the cute little shops down the street. Parking can be annoying in this part of town but usually there is street parking. I've had lots of items on the menu but my favorite by far is the chicken and waffles, which is absolutely delicious! The waffles are fluffy and the chicken is not too salty. There have been a couple of times on a busier morning that service has been slower. We're from Seattle and we came to taste our first beignets and chicken and waffles. One word. AMAZING. Also highly recommend the huevos rancheros with poached eggs. We had a great dining experience with our waiter Jeremy who gave us some recommendations for visiting the area and a few jolly laughs.
