First, I have lived less than a half mile away, saw it was here on the map, but for the life of me, couldn't picture where it was.
Address in the GPS, pulling up, it was a "Oh crap, how have I never noticed this?" Easy, its sort of behind Jacks, on the back end of the car dealers overflow lot!
You, like I, will wonder if they take cards or if it's cash only, they definitely take cards.
The means variety is on par with my favorite little taco shops.
I chose the #1 Special with one each chicken, carnita and chorizo street taco with rice and beans. For drinks they have everything I ask for to qualify as authentic Mexican and believe it of not, I passed on the Horchata for once and ordered a Mandrian Jarritilos Mexican orange soda.
My first bite of the chicken taco, yep, that's good! Next up was chorizo and a bit of a surprise, maybe a mix of chorizo and potato, or maybe a vegetable I am unfamiliar with. Not wrong, if anything possibly more authentic than I'd encountered. Finally the carnits, good if a little dry, nothing the included salsa didn't help with. Both the red and green sauces were as expected.
Now we get into the part I didn't love, the beans, a very small serving with the distinct flavor of powdered milk. I despise powdered milk and when you do, the flavor just sorta leaps out at you. Again, I can see how in huge swaths of Mexico if you didn't own a cow, you might use powdered milk for everything. There was rice but after the beans, I don't really remember it.
The eternal question, would I return? My initial reaction was sure, I just wouldn't order a combo that included beans, but then I started thinking about how many thing might have those beans, so probably not. I suspect I'd do nothing but search for the of putting flavor of powdered milk, so why bother? There are too many places nearby to go to a place for tacos and horchata... and I really enjoy good beans!
Of course if the taste of powdered or nonfat mike isn't an issue for you, you might love the place.
