We were in town for a family vacation. Word of mouth and online research gave good reviews. We called earlier in the day as we were at water country and wanted to do a last night family dinner, when I was told they weren't taking reservations and that we could just walk in. Sorry I didn't catch her name; it was crowded and noisy with young folks dining out. Two of us got Island fire tuna tacos, one blackened shrimp tacos, one seafood mac, the tasty winner and one to get on a cold night for sure. Packed with lobster, crab, shrimp, and scallops. We ordered our tuna rare and it was fresh and delicious but not in the least spicy. My search for a five star fish taco in Williamsburg continues. Friend who ordered blackened shrimp: looked like plain grilled, tasted okay. Two of us got local Alewerks Weekend Lager, a reliable tipple. Two got the house margaritas on the rocks, which were weak and tasted of nothing much. The prices are reasonable for a tourist area. That and friendly service earned the fourth star. We drove an hour out here after we were told there was a wait and we couldn't put our name on the waiting list and once we got there we were told they closed. I'm basing this review on one thing and one thing only and that is the hostess area. Advice: Have reservations or call ahead and see what the seating is like. The place gets extremely busy in the weekends and wait times exceeds an hour. When we arrived without reservations, the hostess were very adamant about letting you know the wait time. They went as far as telling customers who did make reservations that " they like them for doing so. Someone who didn't make reservations made me feel some kind of way. This place really is 3.5 stars but the .5 star wasn't an option. I made reservations for a party of 4 for a Saturday night at 7 and I'm glad I did. While making the reservations, the hostess asked if there are any kids or if we needed kids menus. While my daughter was not with me, I still appreciated it because it showed they are kid friendly and can prepare ahead of time for my toddler. We got to the restaurant right at 7 and they were busy! On Saturday's there is a live band at 9 but when we got there, there was already someone on stage. The music was good but it was LOUD! We found ourselves screaming across the table to hear each other. I would've enjoyed the music more if they turned down the speakers a bit. I'm not a fan of places where I feel like I have to shout to the person next to me in a restaurant when I'm not at a bar. We started off with an order of seafood nachos. They were delicious with generous amounts of crab and shrimp in it. It was a very big portion as well. All 4 of us shared and we were pretty much full after it and could've skipped dinner. I got the fish tacos. They were good and the sauce on the side complimented it very well. People in my party ordered the fajita and the salmon imperial. The fajita was just ok, the salmon imperial was very wood and the mash potatoes was very light and fluffy and well seasoned. The service was very slow, it took a while for our nachos to come out and I don't think my water got refilled. It even took a while for them to get our cards back to us after we paid. Food is 4.5 stars but due to the loud music and slow service it puts this place at 3.5. I highly recommend making reservations because there was a long wait after we left. Wow, I guess the bartender does not care about tips or a full bar, and hostess is not big on friendliness. Just tried to take 2 seats at the bar, told it was first come, first serve. Lousy job following orders in the kitchen in my opinion. The server asked how I like the steak on my order, I said medium rare but it came out well done (why bother to ask?). My husband asked for the sauce on the side on his burger, but sauce was in the burger when it came out. This is a must-visit when going to the Williamsburg Outlets. We always get the Seafood Spring Rolls and they're crispy on the outside with a gooey-cheesy seafood filling.
