Our waiter, Eddy was an absolute gem! We enjoyed the crab dip especially and the drinks were delightful! The atmosphere was charming! Perfect for an anniversary dinner!

This place is about as old school as it gets, much like many of the other local owned restaurants in the Williamsburg area. However, even though the interiors could use a little updating (some of the booths are pretty tight, for example) this place still exudes a bit of dated charm for those who want to take a trip to the 70's or 80's once again. The food here was average at best although the portions are pretty huge and you do get your money's worth from a volume-centric POV. As for the taste, the fried platter has a lot of room for improvement. The fish didn't taste particularly fresh (felt frozen) and was very tough/rubbery. The shrimp was average and the fries were fine. However, this place does get bonus points for their great service and the very friendly hostess at the front who went out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed the second they walked in. Our server was also very kind and did a nice job of taking care of us. That said, if you just want to stop by for some drinks and some finger foods this place will do just fine. If it's amazing seafood you're looking for this might not be the ideal spot based on my previous experience. The ambiance here is also very dark, so keep that in mind. At least the service here was very friendly and they do seem to really appreciate the customers who come here so I think it's still worth checking out for those of you curious about this place.

We had such a great time at The Whaling Company! The service was truly amazing--our server was always checking in, refilling drinks, making sure our food was prepared exactly right, and offering great advice while happily answering all of our questions. The food was not only very tasty but also beautifully presented--definitely picture-worthy. The cheesecake with raspberry and pecans was absolutely outstanding, honestly one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. This is a very family friendly restaurant! We are currently traveling but I hope to come again one day!

The Whaling company is such a hidden gem here in the burg. First off, the vibes inside are SO CUTE! makes you feel like you're in a restaurant on the docks. I got crabmeat stuffed flounder with a salad and baked potato. it was amazing! Our waitress name was Makayla and she was so nice. She was so sweet. The service here is AMAZING as well. I will definitely be coming back

Great food and even better service. They treat you like family. We visit this place on multiple nights when we visit Williamsburg.

So the fresh bread is amazeballs, no apps needed. My wife had the tempura shrimp and loved it. The baked seafood dish had shrimp, scallops and cod. Both entrees were really good. The baked potato was so good! The service from Eddie G was top notch 5 stars, his service was impeccable just like his dad. Thank You !

The service is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is 1970's Red Lobster. The cod was delicious! I see why this is rated as a 4.

They also came with fries or onion rings, funnel cake fries, and a drink of your choice. Two of the guys had the root beer and said it was pretty good. Now as for the dogs, the two guys that had the coneys were happy with them, although one was hoping for a little more spice from the chili, but it was by no means bad. The burnt ends dog was said to be pretty freaking good. As for the American dog, we'll that was a different story. It wasn't a bad dog, but it tasted like it had been boil cooked and not cooked on the griddle. Additionally, it wasn't really that warm. I guess warm is a good description for it. It would have been better if it was hot and you could see some cooking marks on it. Alas, it was and had neither. But again, it wasn't a bad dog, but it could have been much better. The onion rings were pretty tasty though, as were the funnel cake fries and crinkle cut fries. This night was Wednesday, so it was trivia night. At 6:30. At about 6:00 people really started to come in, and by 6:30, the place was packed. Guess trivia night is a big hit... The people working there were super friendly and you fealt as if they were happy to be there. I would have given it 5 stars, but tbe warm dog just brought my experience down a bit. But don't let that stop you from going there, because you'll probably have a good time with good food and good people.

We were there for a Monday lunch, can't speak to the dinner service. We also weren't drinking alcohol that day, though I thought the beer flights looked tempting. One of us had a cheeseburger that was requested to be "pink" and was overcooked and just blah. One of us had a chicken salad that was served with no chicken. Someone from the kitchen rushed out with a soup bowl filled with chicken slices that looked like those Perdue rotisserie chicken slices you buy at the grocery store. Dumped them on the salad. She did apologize. Our third order was a Restaurant Week special fried oyster salad vouched for by our server, Bailey, who was pleasant and efficient. It came with corn, black beans, mixed greens, cotija cheese and a spicy dressing. It wasn't awful but I think the overall concept was weird. Fried oyster taco salad? The few oyster pieces were tasty. Maybe we were there on a bad day, which happens. The chicken salad fiasco was funny. Not a place I would drive across town to try twice. Maybe stick to burgers and plenty of beer.
