Pretty cool area to explore if you're in the area. This place was open late, as we were craving some simple American bar food options. Hubs and I were also in the mood for some cold drinks. There was plenty of seating and they also offered outdoor seating. This night they had a live band performing outside, which was pretty cool. I ordered the watermelon rite and my husband got an IPA. He ordered wings and got lemon pepper and Korean BBQ, which he really enjoyed. My daughter got an avocado burger and I ordered the cod tacos. Overall the food was pretty good. Service was good also. I dont remember our servers name, .but she was really nice and answered all of our questions. Worst meal I've ever had, and I'm not picky. I can't believe it has a 3 star rating here. I ordered the steak tacos and they were nothing but gristle. I powered through one, but couldn't be bothered with the second one. Husband ordered the wings and they were dry, overcooked, and not at all meaty. The service was ok, but husband requested blue cheese and was given ranch for the wings. His Cole slaw was not edible. Do the people that run this place even eat this stuff? I'd been here once before just to have a couple drinks. It's a great spot with a dense menu on tap. My favorite brewery, Aslin, is well represented. The happy hour menu is also great and available every day. I ordered the pretzel bites as a starter and the tacos as my main dish. The pretzel bites were interesting. They had almost a garlic butter coating which I still don't know if I was a fan of. Overall, they were fine. The tacos were really good. All the flavors were very well put together. Not good. The kitchen covered these in way too much grated cotija cheese, it even overwhelmed the onion and cilantro. The cowboy sauce wasn't too great either, reminded of a seasoned ranch. These things had way too much dairy. At the end, my fault for ordering the wrong item. This place is still a good place to hang. Everything exceeded our expectation. The beer choice was amazing. Manager was easy going and understanding. He gave us samples and listened to our needs. The restaurant was huge and had a fantastic selection of beers! When we walked in there was a party goin on but we sat at the bar and got amazing service. They had a stellar musician playing which added to the ambiance along with the multiple TVs. Bathrooms were super clean, food came out hot and to order, and menu was very easy to read with great options. The owner was friendly and gave us the rundown of the beers! I got a Hofbrau Original which was amazing and paired well with my tenders, my wife got the chicken sandwich & got a Downeast Strawberry Cider which was good. The only reason this place didn't get a 5 star review from me was I think for the price I could have gotten another chicken tender or two, 3/4 tenders felt lite with a $15 price tag, but the taste was amazing, probably some of the best tenders I've had in forever, highly recommend checking this place out read more

I am absolutely baffled by the negative reviews. We have lived in New Town for 2 years and finally tried the Brass Tap and I'm so glad we did! I have had an awful week of work and needed a drink and fun atmosphere to de-stress. We walked in and sat at a high top and immediately someone came to take our order and explain the specials. She was extremely friendly!! I decided on a beer and cheeseburger and fries. The beer came right away and was amazing. The beer, liquor, wine and cocktail selection is vast and impressive!! I went for the tried and true Alewerks because I love everything they make. And indeed, it was cold and hit the spot. Even though I did not give any specific instructions for the cheeseburger, it came out amazing, as did the French fries. I had two more beers (one more Alewerks and the Brass Tap double IPA) before calling it a night. I am blown away by the quality of the food and the service and I cannot wait to return! read more

Quality food and drink with inspired interior. I was impressed with the whole experience except that the inside doesn't seem to have heat so I ate lunch in the cold. The pretzels come cut up (for easy sharing) and dipped in garlicky goodness. The chicken sliders had the most incredibly light batter and were all white meat. The Korean BBQ sliders were a bit spicy for me, but the Sweet Heat burger was a double with plenty of cheese, bacon, sauce, and thin-cut, almost shoestring, onion rings. Okay, the food is pretty good and the beer selection is great. But the wait for both was excessively long. The server was very sweet, but pretty clueless about the menu. The bartender was a complete ass, very rude, and as it turned out, wrong about a few things. We had been planning to get lunch, but the treatment from the bartender really turned us off, so we settled for a beer and some apps to share. As we were getting ready to leave, a very nice lady came out with three complimentary bowls of ice cream for my kids. It turned out that she was one of the owners. We made our concerns known and she was very receptive and apologetic. I was a bartender and a restaurant manager for a long time, so that made a big difference. I think that Brass Tap has some real potential. I hope that they push through their growing pains and have the chance to improve. read more

Don't go here. Don't be impressed by the selection of beers on tap, or the diversity of the menu. Just keep scrolling. Here's the red flags we missed that I hope someone else can learn from. 1. The place was EMPTY on football night. We should have left when we saw that the only people in the bar were a couple of the bartender's friends. 2. No Guinness on tap. Well, they advertised Guinness, but didn't actually have it. For a BAR I would expect to have Guinness. 3. SUPER slow service. Our server could have increased our bill substantially if she had been paying attention to the levels of our beer glasses. (But also, if she had paid attention at all and brought us beer before food, and didn't forget our appetizers, and brought the extra napkins, and condiments we asked for.) 4. A BELLIGERENT LECTURING OWNER who all but yelled at me when I asked about the batter on the fish and chips. (For the record, the fish and chips was done in a chicken batter, not a fish batter. So I had chicken fried cod... this was new for me. And lazy for them.) 5. If you order something as an appetizer, (which we ordered with our first beer order, well before we ordered main dishes) don't expect it to come out before your main dish. As the owner yelled at me, it's a BAR, and food comes out whenever he feels like it. Long story long. Don't go there. Save yourself the frustration. Stopped in for a few drinks after dinner. It was not very busy, which I like. Our bartender was very accommodating. Highly recommend the Skinny margarita. We sat ourselves and order beers; they had a decent selection of non-alcoholic beers, so they get a star for that. Tonight was karaoke night--we didn't know that. Let me just say that the place is too small and acoustically awful for karaoke. Oh well. I ordered a $13 chicken sandwich and my buddy got a $12 burger. The food was so incredibly underwhelming. My chicken sandwich had the thinnest piece of chicken, fried so that it was crispy on the outside and uncooked batter on the inside. No problem, right? Just talk to the manager. I asked the waitress (very nice btw, 2nd star right there) to speak to the manager about it. However, the waitress never came by to ask how our food was. When the manager came by--I pointed out the 1/8 inch thin chicken breast and the uncooked dough. He smiled smugly the whole time, said something about that the chicken was fresh and then left the table. No offer to fix me something else, or to take it off the check -- even just a small apology would have a gone a long law. NOTHING AT ALL. Worst service I've had in many years. Don't waste your money here. My buddy said his fries were good and the burger was as thin as a McDonald's dollar menu burger. read more

We have hit this place up twice when we have visited Williamsburg. Once when trivia was happening, which was super fun. Lots of big TVs, extensive craft beer selection, good happy hour and apps. Haven't eaten full meals but do you really need to do that at a sports bar? I like it a lot for what it is and would keep going back if I lived in Williamsburg. We went there and this place has turned into a ghetto crowd and awful music. Such a disappointment! Food sucks , drinks are awful and the shady crowd that exists there which pushes a lot of us away. The service was excellent and they also have an excellent drink selection with good happy hour deals. The food was meh. It seems pretty clear to me that if you order off the happy hour menu for food you're paying a couple dollars less but also getting a significantly smaller portion... which to me seems beyond the point. If I wanted less than the appetizer portion I'd have just ordered a side, and If I'd known I'd get a larger portion by ordering the same thing off the regular menu I'd have paid the extra 2 or 3 dollars. The steak flat bread was delicious but again, smaller than expected after looking at the photos on Yelp. The chicken tenders basket was great, the wings were average. The Brussel sprouts... for $9 I'd expect the "happy hour Brussel sprouts" to be more than the side portion that we received and beyond that they were just not good. There was no sign of the garlic butter the description says they are tossed in, they just tasted dry and burnt because they had no seasoning. I'd go back for drinks but not for food. read more
