I like the decor of this place lots of stone work on the walls. They also advertise to be 100% Cuban cuisine which I believe 100%.! the food is very delicious. Had this Cuban style pork with their sweet plantains and red bean with pork and a little bit of yucca in it.. remember to get the Yucca fries which are fantastic. But before I go further, I must say me and my husband tried their authentic Cuban sandwich, which is fabulous, but you have to have it with their three sauces. The wonderful part about the sandwiches that it's not mash down flat as a grilled cheese sandwich. It is light, airy, and crispy with plenty of meat and the right slice of Swiss cheese in between.. it wasn't busy for a Monday night, but the service was spot on! Hubby and I came here for lunch. I had the empanadas two were chicken and one was beef. Crunchy outside and good amount inside. We all loved the variety of menu items and the flavors. Everything was delicious + the service was great. We ordered the K'bola Appetizer Combo, Pechuga a La Plancha, Arroz Frita K'Bola and Picadillo a la Cubana. Everything was so good. I rated this restaurant at four because of one thing- GNATS! Yes-bugs that were indoors, but belong outdoors. We had to swat away gnats during our entire meal. One of my friends killed five. She was our big zapper. I did ask the manager about the situation, which she was aware of, and told her about my friend's quickness with the gnat killing. It was quite the conversation. I was in town for conference, was surprised to find a Cuban place. I stopped by to order dinner to go. I sat at the bar & got a mojito while I waited. I got arroz moro, picadillo, tostones, and some paselitos. I was surprised that my order was ready in less than 10-15 minutes. Everything was delicious! Was in the area from Jersey and found this Cuban spot. The food took quite long and our server was a bit forgetful because w asked him for a bag and box a few times. We didn't get it until we asked another server. But the drinks while in happy hour were good. My mom had the mojito and I had the tiny margarita husband had an old fashioned- very happy with our drinks. We got croquets of chicken that looked like mozzarella sticks and they were good. I also got the shrimp in garlic sauce also very good. My husband got steak and it was pretty small and tough for the price but still had good flavor. Ordered takeout from here while driving from VA Beach to our resort in Williamsburg. It was probably ready a few minutes before promised, as it wasn't piping hot but still hot enough. I really enjoyed the look of the place as we parked and I went in to pick it up, although I will note it's free street parking so take that into account. The dish that knocked it out of the park was the Chilindron de Cordero - a lamb shank in a delicous broth that was amazing. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, and so flavorful. DD took some of DGD's mashed potatoes and plopped them in the container, so she could get every tasty drop. My pork was flavorful, although a bit on the dry side. I won't complain though, because tbh I have never had pulled port of any kind that I didn't think was not juicy enough for me. So that's just me. I chose arroz congri (black beans and rice) and only ate a few bites. Just a little too basic for me; nothing more I can say. Her salad and my sautéed veggies had good flavor but were both on the meager side - I think they maybe give more of the mains. We also shared yuca con mojo, which was OK. DGD was very disappointed in the chicken nuggets because there were only four, with a huge amount of fries that she barely touched. Part of this was due to the "delicious" mashed potatoes, which she scarfed. The other was that as I said, food wasn't piping hot so with barely warm fries, she lost interest. Bill was in line with most good restaurants; for the three of us, including tip, just under $100. I have a strong hunch that all of it would be much better dining in, OR arriving a few minutes before promised time so it doesn't sit under a heat lamp. Our fault, not theirs! read more

They were out of the papas rellanas probably for the best. The sandwiches come with the a side and a drink. That was nice. But .. he ordered platanos and received 3.. 3 plantains?? I got fries, they were left as you can see. How do you mess up fries? I asked for a side of green sauce- not good, very watery. My sandwich was ok but nothing special. I've definitely have had better. I would have expected better service- they weren't even busy, we were the only table in our section. Not sure how they're surviving to be honest. Super disappointed with our experience. We had high expectations based on the reviews. Dirty utensils and then diarrhea when we got home! When we got there at 5pm there were only 2 tables occupied so we expected good service. However, the service was very slow. The shrimp/camarones were way overcooked so they were tough, dry, rubbery and shrank to little shrimps. Not worth the $24! The sampler appetizer plate $16 was just ok but the chorizo croquetas were quite disappointing since it was more of a paste texture inside and we didn't see any actual chorizo (just mashed potatoes). Very excited to finally have an authentic Cuban restaurant within driving distance. We had dinner after an afternoon at the outlets. Our expectations weren't very high, based on prior experiences with Cuban food in the Richmond area. My husband was especially pleased with the vaca frita, which he had never had before. My only complaint was that the yucca con mojo and tostones were a little bland for my taste. Went here with a friend for dinner. We had a little bit of a wait maybe about 20 minutes, so we sat at the bar until we could get a table. We order margaritas which were good, the bar tender was nice. I ordered Yuca frita (yucca fries) for appetizer and Salmón Marinado a la Plancha (salmon) with Pure de Papas (mashed potatoes) for main dish. The yucca was alright but my main dish was honestly just bland. I wasn't impressed at all with the food. Stopped in after a soccer game and was treated to a phenomenal meal. I wanted to get a good sampling of the menu as best I could so I ordered the beef croquettes. They were amazing. Crispy on the outside for that perfect crunch and yummy meat interior. I will order these every time. For my main, I ordered the Arroz Frito. This fried rice dish was great. I did feel like it could have used some spice to it, but, as I later learned, traditional Cuban food generally does not use many spices like Chile peppers etc. The dish did come with a type of garlic paste (pictured around the plate) that, combined into the the rice added a tangy flavorful experience. For my sides, I got the plantains and the Yuca. Both were great and had me very full by the end. I also ordered a Cuba Libre. It was a good cocktail. Overall, I had a great time. The restaurant offers an intimate appeal and the staff went above and beyond. As I came in towards the end of the night, I had some good conversations with my server. The bathrooms were EXTREMELY clean. The service was very rough. The hostess greeted us and attempted to seat us but then a manager confronted us with "DO THEY HAVE RESERVATIONS?!" For the Kid's birthday, he wanted to try the new Cuban restaurant in town. A coworker had also recommended it highly, so here we are. The ambiance is nice, with Latin music (not too loud) and framed Cuban-themed art. At 11:30 on a Thursday morning, it wasn't busy at all. We started with an order of tostones replenished- little cups made of seasoned plantain, stuffed with mildly spiced ground beef and topped with cheese. Next time, I may just have to get a whole order for myself! Delicious, slightly starchy, served piping hot. While my Bride stuck with the water (chilled tap water, provided in a bottle), my meal came with a soft drink. I chose IRONBEER because it just looked awesome. It tastes just as good as it looks. The Kid got a MATERVA yerba maté soda, and before our appetizer was finished, had gone online and located a local store that carries it, it was that tasty. I ordered a sandwich called the Pan con Croquetas, which they describe as a "buttery toasted bun stacked with crispy ham croquettes, tomatoes, lettuce and Swiss cheese." It's all that and more! It came with a tiny plastic sword, which is always fun, and yuca fries- starchier than potato fries, but just as delicious. The Birthday Boy got the Vaca Frita, which literally translates as "fried cow," which comes with two sides. He got frijol colorado, which they describe as "red beans simmered and seasoned with fresh ground garlic, pork, onions, peppers and olive oil." It's kind of like a chili soup. The vaca is a "shredded flank cooked until tender and marinated in garlic, lime juice and onions before being fried until its exterior is crispy," Definitely recommended. He couldn't even finish it! The Lechon Asado was my Bride's choice. This Cuban-style roast pork is marinated in a garlicky-citrus mojo sauce. It was tender and delicious, and mildly spiced, but came with a zippy little garlic sauce. For her first side, she got sautéed vegetables. For their second side, they both got Yuca con Mojo, a boiled yuca with a citrusy garlic sauce. Less starchy than my fries, still delicious. The waiter was clearly paying attention and heard me tell the Kid "it's your birthday, get whatever you want." When he brought the bill and the box, he presented a complimentary flan with a birthday candle. A lovely surprise, and the best flan I've tasted in years. Total before tip was $75.99.
