I had never been ax throwing before and thought it would make a good date for the hubby and I. I made a reservation online with a small reservation fee and then we paid the rest during our visit. A host helps check you in, sign waivers and escorts you to the bar area. There's a small selection of can drinks including alcoholic ones, tea, soda, water. I liked that they stock Sly Clyde's cider from Hampton. Not sure sharp objects and alcohol is the best idea but everyone seemed to be behaving responsibly. We were escorted to some bays that had two lanes next to each other and then separated by a fence before two more open lanes. We were given a safety brief at the lanes with people in two other lanes and some instructions on how to throw. Don't pass axes by hand, put them in the return box. Different styles of how to throw. Thankfully we had the full bay to ourselves since so one was in the open bay next to us. We played for 75 min which was a comfortable amount of time. They also have a knife throwing option which we didn't select. There's some seating available near the throwing area for non players. Each bay has a standing bar with two backless metal seats. I was able to throw comfortably with a walking boot on for a sprained ankle. I appreciated that since I didn't even think of that before reserving a space. I was nervous at first but managed to do ok with the over head two hand throw. The bay attendant didn't check on us after bringing our pretzel bites and so it didn't seem necessary to tip for service. We were able to get an additional score cards on the way to the snack area and that is where you close out your tab for your outing. The kiosk offers a tip option so maybe they share with the attendants. I talked with a friend who had been there previously and she said the booth attendant asked for a tip when she went and that was off putting. That wasn't our experience though. Overall we spent just over $100 for our date night. While there is snacky food available, it's not the type of place you are going for dinner and fun. Get a meal before or after somewhere else. The bay next to us had plans to go to Buffalo Wild Wings across the street. read more

Second time hitting this location & really nothing but good things to say! I made same day reservations and even came an hour early without an issue. They tend to get really busy in the evenings so go early or make sure to make a reservation. Jack, our guide, was helpful in technique and energy. It was nice to have him jump in a few times to help out but didn't feel like hovering. Also, love their enthusiasm for bulls eyes. We have had food and drink- both very good to pair with game play. 50/50 on service here. We came last year around this same time and we were Able to walk in and had a great time! This time we walked in a little before 730 and the place was a ghost town, with one couple finishing up, and the rest of the staff was cleaning. Posted hours were closing at 9pm so we got excited that we could get some throws in and recreate the great time we had last year and leave the staff with plenty of time before closing, but everyone was weirded out that we came in, at least that's the vibe we got. We were told that while they close at 9, they stop taking reservations at 730, and weren't sure if we could throw. Again totally get it on a busy night but this place was dead as was the rest of the complex so I would have assumed they would have been excited for some new customers on a Wednesday night in the offseason, but I also don't know the first thing about running an axe throwing business admittedly. The annoyance wasn't so much that we couldn't get in, that's whatever, but more so how confused the staff were that we walked in almost 2 hours before close. A simple "hey we don't take walk ins after 730 sorry would have been perfect, instead we were met with confusion and talked with 4 different people before we decided to leave. As a former restaurant worker it felt like that vibe when someone comes into the bar 10 minutes before closing and the grill is already clean, but this was almost 2 hours before close. We ended up saving the night by playing pool at a near by pool hall but the whole experience was just odd given the polar opposite experience last year and how excited we were when we realized we were right next to this place Keep going between 2 stars and 3 stars - really I'd say 2.5 stars, 4 for my Experience last year and 1 for this year. Just make a reservation and you'll be fine I guess, policy is policy, even if it doesn't make sense at first glance, and I respect that just wish the staff had been upfront about it read more

LOTS of sneaky charges, beware!!! Never got our deposit back from our party of 8. Later got an 18% charge for "large party fee". Nothing is one their website for these fees. We had already tipped the bartender so why the charge?? This is an ACTIVITY, like bowling, where large party charges are not applied. Manager was not helpful and owner never called back. So disappointed. We had a blast but I'm not going to support places that aren't transparent. Will find other activities that don't cost $80+ a couple for $75 min. read more

Jack was our coach and he was an excellent one at that. Very encouraging, he made us laugh, he talked with us and made the time we had that much more fun! My wife and I celebrated our four year anniversary here and him and the staff congratulated us. My wife and I also were able to sign the board for getting three bullseyes in a row. My other feedback would be that there should be another prize for getting three dead shots (blue dots) in a row. All in all amazing time! We came here to celebrate my sister getting married! In addition to throwing, we enjoyed some drinks and appetizers in between throws. The staff were amazing. Was an ok experience. It was very frustrating that they attendant had to stay with us the entire time. I've been axe throwing at other places and that was not the case. The attendant standing with us isn't a good idea. It made us feel awkward and dramatically hampered the amount of fun we were having. I'd recommend stopping the rule of having an attendant stand with each party the whole time. No matter how fun, charismatic or knowledgeable the attendant is, I would never want one standing with me the whole time. I will not return here until we can throw axes in peace read more

Where to start... Walking up, you already know you're in for a good time. The laughter, smiles, smirks and grins on EVERYONE'S faces inside tells you that. You walk in and are immediately greeted, with again..nothing but smiles and professionalism! You electronically sign a waiver, 'cause..you know, throwing axes while drinking alcoholic beverages is.. safe to say the least! You are then walked over to the bar area where you are asked if there's anything they can start you off with.. like.. Sliders, sweet potato fries and a couple beers.. or whatever you decide to start off with! We were then assigned an Axepert, Javier, who showed us the proper technique, both two and one handed, and stuck around to throw with us as we all laughed and joked. He was very knowledgeable of the establishment and could answer any question we threw his way. The beers are great, the food just as good, and the time even better. 10/10, would recommend to anyone. Our Axepert, Jake, was very attentive and spent a lot of time teaching my daughter and husband how to throw - by the end of our session, they both made enough bullseyes to put their names on the Wall of Maniaxe! This place & the service was AMAZING!...not to mention the axe throwing was therapeutic in a way but it's a must try if in the Williamsburg area. You have to make a reservation & it's approximately $25-$27 per hour or maybe it's an hour & 15 mins; nevertheless prices are extremely reasonable. Upon entering you must electronically sign a waiver but you would be too bust being nosey at the fun others are having. A card must be provided per person or per group. There are beers and finger food available for purchase. You are assigned an instructor & taken to your lane. My instructor was Brad, who was very detailed in his instructions, encouraging & attentive. He showed you were it was appropriate to stand & make sure you follow through with your throws. There are bar stools to sit on behind the throwing area & couches for ppl who are there to spectate or just need more comfort seating. The venue is CLEAN & staff was attentive to make sure you were happy & didn't need anything to make you happier. I would give this place 10 stars for customer service, cleanliness, attentiveness and a damn great time. read more
