I received a $350 Oceanova Spa gift card in April 2025. I scheduled services twice, and both times the spa cancelled on short notice. The first cancellation happened the morning of my appointment, when I was told the massage therapist would not be in. Only the facial portion of my scheduled services was provided, which I paid for with part of the gift card. I disclosed to the aesthetician that I have rosacea, which had been dormant for a year, but the facial unfortunately triggered a flare up. The only compensation offered for losing the massage, worth hundreds of dollars, was a complimentary add on. The receptionist did not apologize or make any effort to recover the service, showing no empathy. I rescheduled to use the remaining balance, but five days before that appointment the spa cancelled again because the therapist was unavailable. On both occasions they offered to reschedule during the week, but as I work full time, weekends are the only option I have. This meant I was unable to use the remaining gift card balance. Since then, I have called, left voicemails, sent texts, WhatsApp messages, a Facebook message, and an email with no response. When I was initially in touch with an employee named Carolynn, she was empathetic and offered to help resolve the issue, but after she left the company no one else has made any effort. The lack of customer service and empathy has been very disappointing, especially given the amount of money prepaid. At this point, I am left with a significant gift card balance that I cannot use. After waiting for an appointment setup through the internet and phone calls. Got an appointment scheduled 3 weeks out, I tell them I'm 69 year old male. Filled out necessary paperwork and was called back by therapist and am told they will not give me a massage. 30 years on blood thinners over 100 massages never questioned once. This business should better serve the customer base by informing of your policy upfront so as you don't waste time for me or your therapist. Disappointed, and recommendations will not be made. massage was great. however, I had a gift certificate that expired on 3-18. I called to schedule an appointment, first opening was 3-19. she said they would honor it. when I checked out, they said I could not use it, it was a third party certificate. (spa week) their girl never asked where the certificate was from when I booked. So I am out $110. I have been to this spa 3 Times but will not b returning. This is a nice place for a 1 hour vacation anytime of year! The staff are friendly and talented. The environment is very serene, professional and the prices are ok. My wife and I try to get here once a quarter. Additionally, they do gift certificates right from their website, so I generally include one in the wife's birthday, Valentine's and Christmas cards. While down in Delaware for the holidays, I really wanted to do something relaxing. I figured a massage couldn't hurt and called around to five different places trying to get an appointment that day. Not only did Oceanova accommodate me, but they called in a masseuse to come in just so that they wouldn't lose my business. That was certainly a great start. When I arrived, the waiting area was very comfortable, well-decorated (comfy but not too new-agey) and had peaceful music playing in the background. The receptionist was very friendly, had me fill out a form, and told me the massage therapist would be right with me. Carol, my LMT, was incredible. She was friendly from the get-go, and we had a nice chat on the way down the hall. She took me to the private room and started by asking me what my goals were for the sessions, if I had any areas of focus, etc. It seems so obvious, but in the 50+ massages I've gotten, that conversation has happened just a handful of times. The room was perfect. The music was relaxing, the bed was soft and warm, the head support was extremely comfortable (always a crap shoot), and I began to feel at ease immediately. As for the massage itself, it was the ideal balance of pressure and relaxation. I actually fell asleep for a few minutes, something I have never done before. This was my very first customized massage. It was a very good first experience with Denise. We talked before she began. She listened to my concerns and I felt very much at ease during my massage. Everything felt so relaxing from the soft lights, to the meditation CD and the warm coverings. It was an hour of pampering that is already calling me to visit there again. I met Rose Ann, the owner before leav ing. We chatted and she told me about a special spa evening benefit for Justin's Place. It takes place at the Marriott on Bethany Beach boardwalk. Let me start off by saying that staff here is very friendly, kind and accommodating. They were very good at getting us in on short notice at the same time for multiple people and multiple services, so kudos! That's pretty much the only plus to this place. I went for the sugar scrub and a mani/pedi. Like I said, my service professionals were very nice, but my scrubber told me this was the first scrub she'd done at this place and that there was no methodology, and also there was no facility to rinse yourself off after. I'm of the thinking that if you don't have a shower, don't offer scrubs. My nail tech was again, very sweet and professional, but my mani and pedi were both pretty weak. I still had rough cuticles when I left, my feet were barely exfoliated and there was polish all over the place. For the prices ($95 for the scrub and $60ish for the mani/pedi), I expect better. Period. I'm hesitant to diss a locally owned business, but having to repeatedly face the dilemma of "is this place any good?" while on vacation leads me to want to advise other future beach-goers to skip this spa. I have been seeing Denise for massages for several years and can't recommend her more highly. Her knowledge of the body, muscles, nerves, fascia and all the other complex stuff in there is amazing. And she teaches me how things work and why stuff hurts while she's making it better. She's also just a phenomenal human with a beautiful heart. I genuinely enjoy our chats almost as much as how my body feels when I leave the table. She brings a great balance to the massage and even though she is doing deep tissue and trigger work, I have never once left feeling that "I've been bruised" feeling you get most places. Worst manicure I've ever had. It was a gel manicure & the technician painted over my cuticles. It looks like a 4-year old did this. She did say she does not like gel nails. Not sure why. The room was very dimly lit. Maybe she couldn't see well. Then we had to wait....because there was ONLY ONE gel drying machine & it was in use. Really?
