They have inside and outside seating based on your preference (Seems that the patio seating is more relaxed than indoors...indoors is on the second floor). As stater, we had their 'Chop Chop Salad'. As entree, we tried their '8 oz Filet, topped with Bleu Cheese Crust' and 'Chicken Entree' with a side of 'Truffle Mac & Cheese', accompanied by a glass of wine. The steak was tender and simply delicious. The restaurant is beautiful, with great views of the river and city. Our server, Gabriel, was very attentive and helpful with the menu. Delicious food, though slow service put a bit of a damper on things. Came here with some work colleagues for a dinner. The ambiance is beautiful, definitely a more upscale vibe without feeling stuffy. I will say they had the tables packed in there pretty tightly, which made it hard to maneuver (both for patrons and for the wait staff). I had the lobster bisque, which was delicious but filling (though that is what good lobster bisque is!). I had the scallops for the main course-they were cooked beautifully and the risotto that came with was very good. I unfortunately could not finish it because I was so stuffed! Our wait staff was friendly enough, though we noticed some large 'gaps' in the service. We waited a while to put our drink order in, then waited quite a while to order our food after our drinks arrived. My wife and I were looking forward to trying this restaurant for the first time, and unfortunately the experience didnt live up to our expectations. We were seated 40 mintutes past our reservation. Our waitress was the worst part of the whole experience. Unattentive, would dissapear for large stretches of time. When she did make an appearence, she was obviously rushed. Worst treatment and experience at a restaurant hands down. I made a reservation for my husband for his birthday at 9:30pm. We were running slightly behind due to waiting for our babysitter and arrived at the exterior entrance at 9:37. We specifically booked a late reservation to make sure we had celebrated with and taken care of our two children for the evening. When we arrived at the restaurant all the exterior door entrances were locked and we had to go through the hotel door where we found the interior entrance at 9:41. A staff member rudely opened the door and told us that the restaurant was closed. On OpenTable there is clearly a 15 min grace period stated for this restaurant but we were told the restaurant locks its doors the minute it hits 9:30 and the kitchen was closed. We were told had we showed up 15 min in advance we could have been seated and it was outlandish to show up 11 minutes late even though 4 of the minutes were spent even finding the entrance. This is of course in direct violation of the restaurant's own stated reservation grace period policy. This is also impossible that the kitchen should be closed directly at closing when the restaurant lists a reservation at closing time. We have never been treated so rudely by any establishment of this expected quality or any restaurant period. I am truly appalled that this restaurant allows their staff to break their own stated policies and talk down to customers. We will never return again. There are a huge number of amazing steak houses and restaurants in the city. Highly recommend dining at an establishment with ethical policies and a staff with some semblance of professionalism. Huge shout out to MJ steak houses for accommodating us last minute. For some much better alternatives RPM seafood, steak 48, Chicago chophouse, Bavette, MJ are all close by. 1 star is a star too many read more

I had dinner with my husband while visiting Chicago and all in all, we enjoyed our visit. The service was excellent and most of the food we ordered was good. We chose the short rib and scallop appetizer, and for mains I had the ahi tuna and he chose the sea bass. The appetizer was delicious, and we both enjoyed my ahi. The salad that came with was a little spicy. My husband's sea bass wasn't great. I didn't like it at all and he only ate a few bites of it. It seemed a little overcooked and had very little flavor. My absolute favorite item was the bubbles and berries cocktail. It was so much fun to watch our server create, and then to watch it bubble and smoke. It was delicious! My biggest issue was our actual table. We were tucked away in a corner and weren't able to see the beautiful river view. I couldn't see much of anything from where we were seated. I had a bad encounter with a bad bartender named Sean. When I mean bad, I mean bad. I first noticed Sean's bad behavior as he hurriedly took my drink order without making eye contact with me. I ordered a Mojito and was surprised that it came back within minutes. There wasn't one leaf of mint in the drink, not even remnants of a leaf. There is no way Sean muddled it. He didn't even use it as a garnish even though there was an abundance of mint on the adjacent counter. I thought, "Oh maybe this is something specific to Ocean Prime Chicago." After taking a sip, I knew that Sean just dumped some ingredients in a glass and stirred it with a straw. It was bad! Bad, bad and not Michael Jackson bad. Another guest seated at the bar turned to me and said "I can't even drink this. It's the worst (whatever) drink I've had in my life." I noticed Sean arguing with a table of guests near me. There was a manager with him so I waited and gave the manager my account of Sean's bad behavior and bad drink. Sean then began flailing his arms and touched my chest. Then I was rescued!!! A good bartender named Rafael took over and made a good mojito with mint. Yay! Raphael was professional and friendly. Because he was such a breath of good fresh air, I stayed to eat. I ordered steak tartar and a 12 ounce South African lobster tail. The steak tartar had a sweetness that that was unlike any tartare that I've had (I wouldn't order it again). However, the lobster tail was absolutely delicious! After settling my bill, I showed Sean a photo of Raphael's good mojito. I thought it would inspire him to be better. Instead of being gracious, Sean cursed at me while yelling at me to leave "his bar." Sean continued by shouting yelled he's been the bar manager at Ocean Prime Chicago for five years. If that's the case, he was most likely hired by family member. I've dined at Ocean Prime in other cities and always left with a good feeling. I never would have imagined that the Chicago location would pull an inexperienced bartender from a place like Chili's, TGI Fridays, Outback Steakhouse, or Red Lobster. Sean made my initial experience at Ocean Prime a bad one. Raphael made it a good one. If anyone dines at the Chicago location, ask for Raphael and avoid Sean unless you want bad service and bad drinks. read more

I'm late to the party but I originally might have asked whether Chicago needed another steakhouse--and my conclusion today is that the city benefitted immensely from the arrival of this high-end chain. Here you will find one of the broadest and most indulgent menus perfect for any celebration or business dinner. This restaurant tends to occupy prominent real estate. Here it's in a beautiful setting on the Chicago River. When traveling I've actively avoided this restaurant, ascribing to it a label of a chain that isn't actually a top flight restaurant.
