Carlos set me up with a quote that was reasonable: $600 to remove a TALL bird of paradise palm and offshoots, trim a fig tree, trim a neighbors overgrown ficus, and removed two HUGE roots from that same ficus in my lawn. Came right on time, did work quickly, took care to work around my junk in the yard and umbrella lane, cleaned up afterward (including blowing off my patio, which wasn't really affected by them - just used to walk the fig limbs to shredder). OH, did I mention they shredded the waste so I didn't have to stuff in my recycle bin over several weeks? Really pleased! ONLY note: credit cards accepted, but they charge a % (to cover bank fees). Cash or checks are recommended. And I suggest you get extra cash for tip (to ensure no accounting errors or excess taxes for the company). I reached out to OC Tree Care for a quote to remove a large pine tree and 2 tree stumps. Carlos promptly followed up with me on my yelp rfq and we scheduled a day to visit the property to get me a formal quote. The quoted price was reasonable and Carlos and the OC Tree Care team were ready to get started on the job the next day after quoting but I had to coordinate some things on my end so they waited for me to arrange and clear items from the property. I then followed up with Carlos a couple months later to confirm we were ready to start the job and he was able to confirm a next day appointment to provide the service. Carlos was on time and really came through for me, his team was professional, safe, had great communication, and understood the job as quoted. Amazing tree trimmers and as it turns out...equally as amazing shrinks! This was my second time using OCTC. Carlos was on time, professional and provided a very reasonable quote. But the heroes of the day were Hector and Jose who showed up to do the work. They had the extreme displeasure (and trust me it is one!) of meeting one of my neighbors whose yard some branches and leaves fell into. They had to go into that yard (with permission of course) to cut down several more branches and toss everything back over. Given the hell Psycho Betty and her failure-to-launch daughter put them through while they were working, they handled the situation with enough finesse to make even the American Academy of Psychotherapists glimmer with pride. And they still had the integrity to clean up every branch and leaf that fell in the neighbor's yard. This is a completely professional company that did very good work in our back yard. We feel they did arborist-quality work. They arranged to use the access road behind our property (which none of the other companies we interviewed would do). They arrived promptly, used the best equipment, and cleaned up well afterward. First they thinned and shaped 3 large eucalyptus trees, then they removed another eucalyptus, and last they thoroughly ground 3 large tree stumps. They even stacked a large amount of firewood for us, which we didn't request. We would definitely consider OC Tree Care for our next trimming job. read more

Not very impressed with this company. Everything started out fine but it went downhill from there. I needed a bunch of tree and shrub stumps to be ground down. Also asked for a quote to have our plants along our front walkway removed. Carlos came out on a Wednesday to take a look and give a quote. The quote was reasonable so we decided to go with them. They said they would be back friday at 1pm to do the work. Friday at 1 nobody shows. 2 1/2 hours later they finally show up. No apology for being late, not even a mention of it till it was brought up. Whatever, not that big of a deal i suppose. They removed all the plants in the front and started to grind down the stumps. They get one ground down and the grinder breaks. They try for a while to get it working again but are unable. Stuff happens, so they say that they'll be back the next day (Saturday) at 9am to finish up. Saturday 9am nobody shows or calls. I call Carlos at noon, he says they are picking up the stump grinder from the shop and will be over to finish the work in 1 1/2 hours. The workers show up at 3pm (1 1/2 hours late). They don't have a stump grinder... So they can't do the work... Awesome. They said someone from the office will call on Monday to reschedule. I bet you can take a guess on if they called or not. Ended up going with a different company that showed up on time, did all the work in one day and did it for cheaper. read more

I had two horrible trees that needed to go and were pretty big.... I had no experience on how to get a tree removed. So I turned to Yelp for help. I found three companies that sounded good on yelp and each quote was higher than the next. OC Tree care was the cheapest for $500, Torres Tree removal quoted 800, and David's Tree Service was 1000! OC Tree care came the next day to quote my trees and then a week later to remove them. They were on time to both the quote and job, worked in a timely manner, and left it very clean. We have used OC Tree care for the past couple years and were very happy with their service. Each time we paid $125, now we tried to get our tree trimmed again and there is a 100% increase ($250) no explanation or anything. I can understand there can be an increase sometimes but that is to much. Thanks but no thanks Carlos. Well, on to the next company, guess I will lose your number. I would had given them 5 stars if not for the mixed up on what were being done. The guys came, did the works, and left. Carlos called and told me that everything done. I came home and found out they did not grind down the stumps. I called and he said the next day. They did not come the next day but another day later. I had to change my 5 star to a 3 star because after I had OC Tree Care remove the trees (in which I was told the roots would be removed) when I later contracted another company to lay down turf they spent a significant amout of time digging out the roots that were left behind. From the information I gathered by this company they showed me how the roots were only superficialy removed that were visible to the eye, but not completely gone. It was only a few feet of dirt that had to be dug out so it was clear they didn't properly remove the roots like they should have. It was too late to call and ask for any type of refund. Just make sure if you want roots removed to double check they do this for you. Still a good price for all the trees I had and I probably would have never noticed this if we hadn't laid down the turf. Still good to know that a job is done the way you agree upon. read more

Called Carlos, got a fair estimate in a timely matter. Called him a couple times after to clarify some things and never got a call back. (over a two week period) I called him today and he told me he'd be able to do the job in the next couple of days but I'd have to call the office to schedule. After one rep not calling me back this morning I called a few hours later and told her I was supposed to get a call back for my scheduled trimming. She called me back shortly and said Carlos thought I was scheduling an estimate (even though I clearly told him I had an estimate and a price) They then told me they where scheduled out to December. With this much effort just to schedule a job I think your money is best spent elsewhere. read more
