We came here with a group of 10 people and had no trouble finding a place to sit for lunch. Ordering is pretty straightforward, and there's a display with desserts. I appreciate how they have a decent kids' menu - my boys loved it! I tried the fried calamari, ahi poke bowl, rice pudding, and another dessert that had pistachio (I don't see it on the menu, but it was in the display case). The calamari was really good - I like the breading on it. Nice and crispy and thin. The poke was also pretty good. I should have asked for the dressing on the side, but oh well! The fish was really good, and I had it with quinoa. All of the toppings were great as well. Nice balance all around. But the sleeper hit was the rice pudding. So unassuming at first, but after that first bite - yum! Several people at our table said it was probably the best thing we tried during lunch. So smooth and such a great flavor. Not too sweat at all. And it looks like they might have brulee'd it first? Not entirely sure, but very tasty. Service was decent, and there's plenty of parking in the plaza.

Looking for a healthy place to eat in the area. My husband found this place. they have a lot of varieties in their menu-mediterranean mostly. i ordered their thai salmon and hubby ordered grilled mahi mahi with french fries and grilled zucchini. the dressing on my thai salmon and the salad is delish. it has mandarin, apple, carrots and nuts. The service is great and the restaurant is clean. Lots of sitting area. The outside sitting is covered with grapevines. ait feels lime you are at the winery kind of vibes.

Flies, Flies, and more Flies last Saturday Evening. Enter the restaurant at approximately 6 pm on one of the hottest days of the year and both doors were wide open and it was hot inside the restaurant. No A/C on! Asked the waitress why no A/C on such a hot day and she said manager decided not to turn it on. I can't believe they were making employees--especially ones in the kitchen work under these conditions!? It was over 80 degrees in there--probably about 85 really. I was already perspired from the day hauling stuff so I was okay with it. Ordered my Salmon and sat down inside. As soon as the Salmon plate was placed on the table, not one, not two, not three but a team of flies converged on my food. Both big and small flies. I swatted them away and they came back with a vengeance, some flying together in teams. Those little flies stood their ground on the table around my Salmon and refused to move. Now I am wondering how many flies are in the kitchen? Maybe stirred up in the food? That's not a spice I want! I could not get a bite without flies attacking so I picked up my stuff and sat outside on the patio. One fly came by occasionally but not as bad as the infestation inside. I am wondering if this restaurant has an owner on the premises regularly and the competency of the manager? Does the owner know what is going on? Something was very wrong here. The restaurant is behaving like like they will be turning the lights out soon and can't afford A/C? Really cutting costs to stay in business? But I hope not because I really like the Salmon here, but I am not going to be able to return for a while because I am concerned about all the flies. One fly OK, but not the amount of flies they had in that place. Those leaves outside on the patio generate flies and bugs, so it's important to keep the restaurant doors closed at all times and A/C on when hot. They do have a fly zapper inside, but it was not doing the job or overwhelmed? Sorry to report this debacle.

Love this place! Irvine hidden gem! They have a vast and tasteful menu. The staff are very polite and welcoming and they have a ton of daily specials and events. Checks all the boxes whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a place to lounge and eat / drink

If you're trying to eat healthy, OC Fish Grill is a decent choice. It's counter service, with indoor and outdoor seating on their large patio. OC Fish Grill has a Taco Tuesday, where three tacos are $12. Tacos are normally $5-$7 each, so this is a deal! The tacos all have to be the same and you can choose from chicken, whitefish, shrimp and salmon. I would recommend the salmon over the shrimp, as the salmon tacos are quite large compared to the shrimp - a much better bang for your buck! They also offer the same three taco price during Happy Hour. I've also ordered the grilled tilapia, which comes with two sides. Their brussels sprouts are good but they go a little overboard on the balsamic vinegar. Plenty of parking in the lot.

Casual counter service with indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is nice under the grape trellis (cape trumpet vine & jasmine, too). Clean bathrooms. Recommend any of the grilled fish as well as the Brussels sprouts. If you're getting water, give the lemon water next to the soda fountain a try.

I got the grilled salmon plate and was pleasantly surprised by how much fish came with it. Typically, when I go out to eat--especially for salmon dishes--they give you only a tiny piece. But this place gave two decently sized pieces, which was very filling, especially for the price I paid. The taste wasn't too strong, which I liked. It was just lightly seasoned, so it was pretty good as is. The veggies that came with it were grilled--I chose the Brussels sprouts. Overall, everything was pretty good, and this is exactly the type of dinner I usually go for. I was surprised the place was so empty, considering how good the food is. I'm definitely coming back to try some of the other dishes.

The location is great and very accessible, unfortunately, my ahi tuna was SEVERELY overcooked and dry as a bone. I had ordered extra Cajun sauce which I never got and it was very hard to try and get the attention of a worker. I had previously tried the fish and chips and they were great with a fantastic portion size but this time it was just not a good experience.

Ordered the Ahi Tuna and the fried combo both with Brussel sprouts and zucchini. Ahi tuna was cooked perfectly and it was good size. I got the cajun sauce and garlic butter sauce on the side so I can try them both. The cajun sauce was a little bit salty, so I'd recommend getting it on the side, just in case. As for the veggies, I don't know alot of places that can make Grilled Zucchini taste good. So i think that's a plus. The Fried combo plate is a combo of shrimp and calamari. I thought there will be fish, but it's fine. The calamari was good and not chewy unlike other places I've tried before. Overall satisfied with my meal. Good food decent portions happy tummy..... I'd recommend. read more

They serve the best fish tacos this side of the 405. Very impressed with the staff and outdoor seating area. I Had a salmon taco plate with a side of brown rice and eggplant. It came with a mild and spicy salsa. I really liked the spicy version, It was both smoky sweet and spicy all at the same time. I'll be back to take some proper food pics. read more

I'm glad I checked this place out with my wife and daughter earlier this week. Their fish and chips are awesome and they come with a side (I recommend the kale slaw). The fried fish stands out because the batter stays attached to the fish when you take a bite! The portions are pretty big, the seasoning is delicious, and the crunchiness is phenomenal. I plan on coming back just for this dish. Haha. Lily provides great customer service too! read more

Yum... I got their grilled salmon salad and their fish tasted fresh and flavorful. The salad had the right amount of seasoning, not too salty and not too sweet. It was a very healthy tasting meal. This is perfect if you want something light and refreshing. read more

I dined there tonight for the first time. I ordered the starter calamari, which was enough for a meal for me. I also ordered the grilled salmon plate with two sides. The Brussel sprouts came highly recommended and they were delicious. I also got corn which was grilled with nice seasoning. The next time I want to try the coleslaw which I understand is delicious. The salmon plate had two big pieces. You can choose. What do you want to cooked with and I chose the lemon and olive oil. Definitely two meals for just the salmon for me. I highly recommend OC fish grill. read more

The food is/was okay. When I walked in, I was told to sit anywhere. After a few minutes, no one came to the table... So I got up and went back to the front and asked do I order first... The reply was yes. Next, there was a sandwich board outside that said, happy hour with a menu, items, and prices. When I asked about it, I was told (as the server pointed to the clock) that it's 615 and they don't do that past 6pm. I suggested they take the sign down because about two minutes later, a woman walked in behind me and asked the same question. I could barely understand the server, and he could not understand me. I asked for the shrimp skewer platter ($16). I asked what sauce they grilled the shrimp with ...he had no idea what I was saying. I finally gave up and cross my fingers . The shrimp came with a side... I asked for the grilled zucchini and french fries. The shrimp were covered in a mild Korean chili barbecue sauce that was pretty tasty. BUT, the zucchini was swimming in the sauce. Next, I got a fountain drink. Had to ask for sugar to go with the unsweetened tea (all condiments were behind the counter). I also had asked for ketchup, and received three squeeze packets for the fries. Since I am only in this area a couple of times eight year, I will not be going back. If I was a local... Maybe. There are just too many good places with good service to worry about this one. read more

Came to OC fish grill on another Friday night for the live jazz. It's always a good time, but particularly good in the summer when the days are longer. Great service from the waiter Emir, but all the staff members are great. The fried zucchini is the best I have found around Irvine and I love their salmon tacos. Also a big fan of the carrot cake, but that's reserved for those nights when I need something sweet. If you can, grab some wine and get a seat outside to see the show. read more

Another place I can't believe I didn't post - yikes and we go here A LOT! Food is always fantastic - Thai shrimp bowl is just the right amount of spice; taco Tuesdays highly recommend! Had their fish and chips once - HUMONGOUS and so so so yummy. Ambience outside is wonderful - inside is more like a basic cafe (which is fine it just depends on what you are in the mood for) I think my age is showing as I don't enjoy their live music as it's way too loud and you can't continue a conversation while it's going on. That being said the talent they invite is consistently really good. And they make great coffee! read more

4.5 but let's round up cuz that Boston accent sounds like an Aussie ;) Happy Hour everyday! Calamari long style never seen this before also no aioli with it just ok. Coconut shrimp good. Brussels spots amazing! Eggplant tasty! Chicken tenders ok. Fish and chips 3 big pieces came out HOT burnt my tongue :( good not great. Clam chowder tasty. $45 family fed and happy! My 15 year old son is somewhat of a picky eater. Throughout his entire mean he couldn't stop commenting on how this was one of the best tasting meals he's had. He said his chicken was perfect, the sweet potatoes were perfect. Every bite was delicious. It was.a pleasure witnessing him enjoy his food to the extent he did. He loved it so much we got him a second meal to take home for a second dinner. This was his first visit but won't be his last. My wife and I enjoy their fishes after a great workout. The food is healthy and delicious...a winning combination. read more

The grilled fish dishes and sides are high quality and reasonably priced. Good list of beers and wines at good prices as well. The fried food is a little over cooked and dry. The seafood is good quality but they over-fry everything. The jazz band was excellent and legit. Unfortunately we sat to close to it and it was super loud. They need to block off the tables right next to the band or have the band lower their volume. I will go back again to enjoy the quality fish and sit in the back of the patio to enjoy the music. read more

Recently had lunch here. Had never been and found it on Yelp! There are many casual seafood places around, but I gotta say this one beats all the ones I have tried. Had the swai and salmon combo. I was looking for a healthy lunch option and I came across with this restaurant. First of all, nice facade. The outdoor seating area is cute and the tables were spaced out which it's always appreciated. Second, the ladies taking my order and servicing the food were super nice and friendly. And lastly, the menu is a variety of grilled items and fried options. They have a little bit of everything. They also sell alcohol, very nice ;) the food tasted amazing. The food, the service , here was so horrible. First of all we came here for my friends graduation. The manager here was so rude and disrespectful! Me and my friends 10 of us had ordered steak and it was horrible instead of the staff helping us out and being understanding that we had not ordered medium well we ordered medium rare couldn't switch it for us when it was the restaurants fault. Second of all as the manager here why are you arguing with customers ??? I would never recommend this location to anyone ever again ! Do not come here the food and customer service especially the manager are so rude ! read more

OC Fish Grill is a great place for delicious, healthy meals. We have never had a bad meal here, and the combination of high quality fish and sides at a very reasonable price makes this restaurant a great value! Tonight, I had grilled baramundi with garlic butter, french fries, a mixed green salad, and a draft beer. Everything was excellent, and at less than $30 for everything, it was a bargain as well! read more

My experience was just okay. The clam chowder is delicious, but for 7.00 the portion size doesn't seem to line up with what you pay for. I also got the salmon plate with butter sauce. The salmon was cooked fine, and the portions were okay for the 15.00ish price point... however, it was incredibly bland. Seasoning was non existent and the sauce was lacking. Maybe the cajun sauce is more impactful. I'll give them another chance possibly in the future, but right now the California fish grill is a much better value. read more

So glad I discovered this little gem. All dishes I have tried have been great - always fresh and tasty - but my favorites are the salmon and mahi mahi as well as the tacos. Service is great and very efficient. Don't forget they have live jazz in the patio on Friday nights. We were there just a week before and really enjoyed it. Great food and great vibe! read more

My husband and I were in love with" Square One" pizza so we were sad to see it go from this location. However, our attention was peaked when we saw that there was going to be a new restaurant in its place. It looked like they had a nice selection of wines and some beers on tap and a yummy fresh California Fish Grill vibe. (We loved "Square One" for their craft beer selections and awesome crispy pizza.) We happened to be walking by around lunch time with our dog and baby and decided to give it a try. We stopped by on a Tuesday and realized we hit the jackpot for Taco Tuesday deals. 3 great sized tacos for $8! We got the grilled shrimp tacos and the battered fish tacos. Both were wonderful but the shrimp hit it out of the park. We also got a side of pinto beans which were very tasty. We will definitely be coming back next Tuesday. I can't wait to stop by during dinner time and give their drink selection a go. read more

I wrote a review already, but for some reason it gets deleted every time, so here we go again. Ordered food to go and it came extremely greasy and soggy. My tacos were impossible to eat and my fish and chips were disgusting. It was like eating old fried fish dipped in oil. When I got there my order was not ready and I am pretty sure they didn't even have it because they rushed to the tablet once I gave my name. Like, if you take online orders you should be able to handle it. I also went there another time and the food took forever. The salmon was way too cooked and the white fish was way too undercooked. It seems like they wanna make money no matter what and now their quality and services are terrible. I went on a Jazz night so it was pretty packed, but if you can't deliver some decent food for the price you charge (which is not cheap btw) then maybe you should consider changing how you do things around there. read more

Unfortunately, this place didn't come close to meeting expectations. The omelette in the skillet was served cold--almost as if it had just come out of the fridge.
