Empanadas (chicken and BBQ pork): 4ish (enjoyed BBQ pork more than chicken. Filling is quite good, but the wrapper was a bit doughy and the ridge wasn't that great to eat. Potato ball: 4.5. Really nice fresh. Bit of crisp and the cheese is a nice addition. Cuban sandwich: 5. Easily the reason I would come back. Yesterday was my first time coming to Obra and it did not disappoint. I'm still thinking about the empanadas and potato balls I had. I order 1 beef & 1 chicken, didn't get to them until later, warmed in microwave and honestly I've had my share of potato balls from Porto's and it's no disrespect but Obra's are better after reheat, I could eat 5 of those (just kidding), but really they are that good. The empanadas I got a breakfast and sausage empanada "Amazing". The young lady that helped me was very nice and patient, I didn't have to time wait for my cuban sando, I'll get it next time. Really great potato balls and empanadas. Potato balls were crisp on the outside, gooey on the inside. Empanadas flavors were great, we had got the chicken curry, beef, and Cuban ones and each had a perfect level of spices. Highly recommend the potato balls and beef empanada. Order in advance for pick up as I can see a place like this getting over run. Would definitely come here again when we're passing through. I've only had the beef potato balls and chocolate macaroon from here. The beef potato balls are really good, the meat filling is tasty and the outside crust is crispy. It is served with spicy mayo & some kind of green salsa which complements the potato balls well. Each potato ball cost $3.79 which cost way more than Portos, but the size is bigger than Portos. The macaroon is good too, but the chocolate melts so quickly and the consistency is cake like which makes it very messy to eat as it easily fell apart. 2 bonus empanadas for a dozen. Who doesn't like a deal! We got one of everything and then some more to take home. Not kidding about the variety chicken, chicken curry, chorizo, pulled pork, beef, jalapeno and veggie empanadas. Additionally we got guava cheese pastry that rivals Portos and potato balls that were not as good as Portos. Some coffees that went nicely with the food. Service was efficient and helpful..The ambience is that of a grab and go place. Seating is limited and there is a parking lot. Was super disappointed, I checked Yelp and other places before I went so I knew the kitchen was going to be closed, I knew there was going to be a line so I was prepared for all of that. However, what I was not prepared for was that everything else was going to be unavailable. Coffee: This was a $6 iced coffee, nothing special and nothing that would justify it being $6. Food: None of the empanadas were calling me, I'm sure they are good, really wanted potato balls but those were not available and the wait was 20min, after I waited about 15 to get to the front of the line. The hype didn't lie!!!! Went Sunday 10:45 and everything was sold out Tried my luck Friday 3:00pm and there was a few items I got to try! 1- potato balls are ABSOLUTELY what the reviews rave about. They're soooooo crunchy. They're huge. And the meat inside is bomb!!!!!! Like wow! 2- Tres Leches iced drink was great. Crazy Sweet. But good. They have a few tables outside on a sidewalk if you want to eat right there and a counter with just 4-5 seats inside. I ordered a cup of lentil soup, a beef & chicken ball, some empanadas and some cookies. The lentil soup is really, really good. Potatoes, carrots, green peppers & onions. Very satisfying. The chicken ball was really good. I love the green sauce with it. Crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside. The mocha cream filled cookie is so yummy. The strawberry linzer cookie is divine. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. I've seen it on social media and I love empanadas. The place was extremely clean. I arrived around 3 pm. I was greeted with a smile and helpful person. She told me the most popular empanadas were on the top shelf. I bought the spicy beef, chicken and pork. The pastries looked fantastic. I am a lemon fan. Lemon cake was 4/5 . It had a yummy frosting and lemon heads in the center. I waited to eat the empanadas at home. I have to admit, I was disappointed. The spicy beef had mostly potato, very little beef. The chicken had very little meat as well. The pork was very good with a decent level of meat. The empanadas were on the expensive side as well. The lemon cake was very good. I'll try the other pastries and my tres leches coffee was very good. Based on the reviews, it seems they are fine tuning the meat in the empanadas. Clean, fast, and friendly service. I came here specifically for the empanadas, the potato balls, and the dulce de leche latte. I asked for my dulce de leche latte less sweetened and they did exactly that. The latte was okay as I expected a stronger coffee flavor. I also tried the empanadas and I like how they are baked and not fried. We tried the beef and chicken empanadas. The beef was probably our favorite but lacked some flavor. I had seen people raving about OBRA on tik tok, so when I happened to be in Long Beach, I knew I had to give it a try. It was discussed as a better, mom and pop version of Porto's. I was very pleased when looking over their menu and tried several empanadas, potato's balls, and the tres leche coffee. The tres leche coffee was delicious. It balanced coffee and sweet, more a unique take on tradition coffee options. The potato balls were definitely large, but I found that they didn't pack the same flavor that I was used to. I did really appreciate the variety of empanadas from breakfast to curry. I think it's a great bakery and coffee options if you're in the area, but I would go in with fresh eyes and try things unique to them rather than comparing to other Cuban bakeries! read more

I'm so glad this place is hopping after a few years of opening up. I tried out this place sometime back when they first opened. My little one is now turning three and I have more time to devote to writing them a well-deserved review now. After not being able to get a seat over at the Local Spot, I wandered over here to check out their goodies. Was surprised to learn they made empanadas and potatoes balls too! Got a big assorted box of empanadas and potato balls to snack on while on our way to Aquarium of the Pacific. They are served with yummy sauces on the side. My favorites were the mayo based sauces. I highly recommend the bbq pork empanada one and the curry beef one! I have yet to try their desserts or drinks but have signed up for their rewards program. You order your items first and pay at the register. If you want to bake them yourself at home, you can order those as well. I would definitely enjoy having these at a party. They do offer catering if you need a bulk of items. Nowadays, you need to come earlier for your favorite flavors. Even one hour before closing time, there's still a long line to order. I'm glad for the viral video happening about this place as they are a favorite spot of mine to visit for delicious treats. read more

Finally checked this placed out after yoga at YogaSix! Great service! A variety of empanadas! I tried their bbq pork, beef, Cuban and seafood empanadas! My favorite would have to be their beef! The empanadas were so filling and they currently have a deal where you get 2 free if you order a dozen. I also tried their iced tres leches latte, it was very sweet but a great treat if you're looking for more of a dessert coffee. I've been here a few times before. If you haven't been to OBRA and tried their delicious empanadas then I recommend you checking them out. They usually have at least over 6 different types of empanadas and sometimes they have a seasonal one. They are always really good and come out warm and ready to eat. They gave you their yummy sauces they go along with them as well and are always satisfying. Besides their delicious empanadas they also have sweet baked items such as mini cakes, pies, and tarts. Oh and they have their deep fried potato balls. They also make sandwiches and have a full coffee menu. Although it's a smaller bakery they have a few places to sit and enjoy your food and drink. I wanted to try something similar to Portos but wasent Portos as I was going to be in the Carson area. Obra popped up on my feed and from the pictured and reviews it looked pretty good. It's actually a really small store right off PCH. Minimal seating inside and some chairs and tables outside by the parking lot. They don't even have a restroom for the public here. I ordered a dozen of their empanadas, at the cost of $53 which to me is a lot more than what Portos asks for a dozen empanadas. But fortunately you get 2 free empanadas with a purchase of a dozen. They have a variety of empanadas from beef and potato to cuban style to seafood to many other types. They also have many different types of baked goods, cakes, sandwhichsles and coffee. Their empanadas are good. Flaky, has a little bit if umph to it. Full of filling. Each one tasted great but unique. I also had their tres leche iced coffee which was really good too.
