I'm pretty sure I'll be telling long, detailed tales about the truffle pasta here to my grandchildren. I still dream about it. We got this recommendation from a coworker prior to visiting Paris, and boy, am I glad we took him up in it. By a wild stroke of luck, our Airbnb ended up being walking distance from this little gem. We made a reservation and ended up at the bar, waiting to be seated. The bartenders were not only super kind but also made the delicious cocktails we've had in a long while. The music was lively and everyone in the place was in good spirits. Once it was time to sit down, we ordered more wine (as you do when you're in Paris) and got ready for the most insanely delicious assault on our tastebuds. We got the pizza, legendary truffle pasta, and yummy tiramisu. All in all, this is a meal I won't soon forget. read more

What a gem! We went at opening and there was no line. The ambiance was very laid back and there was a lot of natural lighting. Menu is short and sweet but we still had trouble deciding what to get since everything sounded amazing! * La Fameuse Pâte à La Truffe (Truffle pasta): WOW. Everything about this dish was perfect. The presentation was very cute, served in a small copper pan, the pasta was cooked just right, and the truffle sauce was to die for ! ( if you're not big on truffle, I wouldn't recommend this dish) * Pizza Middleton: this is basically a Parma pizza. It was cooked very well and had a thick crust. So happy we stumbled across this lively gem of a restaurant via Google! We were seated quickly and the hostess kindly pointed out there was an English menu for us to peruse. Our drinks were wonderful (I had the mocktail spin on their Moscow Mule, known as "Danse avec les tsars") - probably the best ones we had in Paris. Our pasta dishes, particularly the Pesto Picasso, were full of flavor without being too heavy on the sauce. The panna cotta topped with strawberries was also delectable. I went to Ober Mamma for lunch on a Saturday. They don't take reservations, but we arrived right around 12 and were able to get in for the first seating. The music selection was odd, blasting Eminem's Lose Yourself as we entered. I like the song, but it felt really inappropriate for this cute Italian restaurant. The food was overall great. The veal carpaccio was just perfect as our appetizer. The truffle pizza was also excellent, and we finished every last bite. My friend and I also split the squid ink pasta, which neither of us cared for. The first few bites were good, but that was enough, and it's downright unappetizing once it gets cold. However, I always feel this way about squid ink pasta, so take that opinion for what it's worth. We left more than half the pasta on the plate. The server recommended two red wines to us, and both were wonderful. We finished things off with a very good tiramisu. Aside from the squid pasta, I enjoyed everything about this place. Absolutely amazing. After finding OberMamma on everyone's Paris rec list, we knew we had to go. Make sure to get there early if it is a weekend night, and no less than right on time if it is a weekday! There will be a line, but I would not hesitate to wait again. We got there at about 6:30 on a Sunday night (opens at 7) to a line but managed to get in in the first seating anyway. My friends and I shared the Burrata, Agnello Soprano & Emile Gorgonzola for pastas, and the Napoli Badass for pizza. The Burrata was simply unreal and a perfect start to our meal. The handmade pastas were truly delicious- we found ourselves scraping the pans with bread to get any remaining sauce! The Agnello is a must if you enjoy lamb. The Emile was simple but executed perfectly. The pizza also exceeded expectations, although I will say I preferred the pasta. After loving our meal, I couldn't believe the bill. It was SO CHEAP considering the quality of food we had just been served. The service was excellent as well and the restaurant was trendy, comfortable, and "instagram-able." The food here is very, very good for the prices. The thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 star rating is that you cant book a table and the lines are looooooong all the time so come early. On our first night we came 30 min Before opening and it was probably 100 people before us in line. And it was raining!! If you live close by standing in line is not the end of the world. But if you are visiting Paris for 2-3 nights there are more fun things to do then standing in line. Please make it possible to book a table. Back to the food. had a reservation at 9pm (showed up at 9pm) and was told to wait in line out front. we didn't end up getting seated until 9:15pm, which was concerning because the reservation was booked until 10:15. when we sat to order all was well - service was quick and prices were reasonable (for paris). my boyfriend and i both ordered pasta, he had the peccarino and i the truffle. both came out before our drinks... and we're also lukewarm. all in all our meals were tasty but nothing to write home about. good luck in paris! read more

This place is a TREAT! Walked all the way there from Le Marais and worked up quite an appetite. Doors don't open until 7pm and by then a long line going down the block has already formed. It's also at that point that you know you've made a good choice going there. As the establishment opens, the wait staff come out to greet you a jovial good evening. All restaurants should open like this. Because Ober Mamma do not take bookings in advance, people line up to make reservations for later in the evening or dine on the spot - so do not be alarmed by the line. Not a touristy spot at all - looked like the IT place to be judging by the clientele. My daughter and I got a comfy table, beautiful decor and a most attentive waiter. We had just arrived in Paris after having spent a week in south France, and we were excited to eat something that was not seafood. This restaurant perfectly hit the spot! I live in NYC so I have a pretty good idea of what solid Italian food is and Ober Mamma was definitely what we were looking for. Had to get in line even before the place opened up. We were offered hot tea while waiting in the line outside (because of the cold weather). The interior was very pretty, and the ambiance was cozy. We got seated in the inner side of the restaurant. Since my husband and I are a big fan of pasta with truffles, we ordered the pan pasta + pizza (had some mozzarella cheese on top but I forgot the name of it). I have attached the menu :) this portion for pasta is not that huge, but it was very rich with creamy sauce and truffle oil on top! Pizza dough was very doughy and chewy. It is not really thick pan fried so it doesn't burden your stomach. The restroom was downstairs, but I couldn't stand the odor that was coming from the restrooms downstairs... overall, I really enjoyed my time and food from this restaurant! Even though we are in Paris, Italian food is done well here too. My girlfriend is Italian so she wants Italian no matter where she is in the world. Luckily, Paris has amazing Italian restaurants. Earlier in the trip we visited East Mamma, which I believe they are in affiliation. Ober Mamma didn't disappoint and was just as good. We started with a pasta dish with red sauce and I believe it was a rabbit Ragu. I could be wrong, but nonetheless, it was amazing. For dinner we got two pizzas (truffle and one with ham). As you may have guessed, the truffle one was better. Both were delicious, I love the charcoal taste from the oven, and the dough is so good. For dessert, we got the homemade tiramisu which is turning into one of my favorite dishes. Another amazing meal in Paris. Don't be afraid to eat Italian in Paris, they do it right! read more

I'm going to be the first person to write an honest review for this place since everyone seems caught up in the hype of Ober Mamma. This place is NOT worth it. First of all you can't make a reservation here. You have to line up at 6pm (even though they don't open until 7pm) to put your name on the list or if you're early in the line eat right then. In my country we eat at 10pm but because this restaurant has the audacity to make me line up outside for an hour I guess I'm eating at 7pm since I don't really feel like coming back to this neighbourhood 3 hours later. Also this line up is filled with stuck up French Bobo's- a bobo couple snarled at my friend and I for speaking English so if you dislike bobo's beware of this place. The inside of the restaurant is decorated like a North American restaurant. I can name 10 restaurants in my hometown of Toronto that look exactly like this- so I'm not really impressed that cutting edge, leading Paris is ripping off the design trends of Toronto/NYC. Then we have the music. My god what was going on with the music in here. The music went from Drake, to jazz, to Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber, to hardcore electronic music, to Damien Rice. It was like a 21 year old girls iTunes was on shuffle. If you're going to put so much effort into the design of the inside at least consider the music and stick with one vibe/genre. Then the most important part; the food. We ordered ricotta cheese with honey which weirdly was not served with any bread or crackers. So okay guess I'm just eating a block of cheese for my appetizer then. We also ordered the The Hot Shot pizza, very basic pizza described as "picante" even though I didn't reach for my water once. Next we ordered the truffle pasta which was a huge disappointment. I had to add salt and pepper. It only tasted like truffles and that's all. No fresh cheese offered- is this or is this not an Italian restaurant?? And for dessert we ordered the Chocolove which was a basic chocolate cake. Hands down the most authentic, Neapolitan style pizza in Paris. Not only that, but their other dishes are equally supreme. We decided to come here our 3rd night in Paris (we'd been in France almost 2 weeks, needed a rest from French food). It was a Friday and the place was packed, got there at 7 pm and had to put our name down for 10 pm. Went to a place nearby to get a drink. Kind of annoying to try and kill 3 hours but if you're drinking wine, there are worse ways to pass the time. Even when we returned at 10, we had to wait another 20 minutes for our table, annoying but so worth the wait for authentic pizza. Unfortunately for us, they ran out of friggen pizza and I have no problem admitting my heart broke. I was forced to order lasagna and my girlfriend ordered the truffle pasta. The fact that the lasagna was THE best I have ever had pretty much made up for the lack of pizza (pretty much, though not fully). My gf's pasta was excellent as well. We actually came to this place one of our last days in Paris for lunch (sorry, we needed pizza). Of course the pizza met our expectations and we could not have been happier. Perfect crust, beautiful San Marzano tomatoes and high quality imported mozzarella. Another great thing about this place is that the entire staff is from Italy (or at least they all speak Italian fluently). My girlfriend and I loved this, as we both speak Italian and got to take a break from being ignorant tourists with our lack of French. This place gets very, very busy even during lunch on weekdays. We got turned on to this place by a friend who has been living in Paris the past year. She said we had to show up right when it opens or slightly before to get in line, which seems unheard of in Paris. We grabbed a drink at a place across the street so we can keep in an eye on it. Out of nowhere a line formed 20 minutes before they opened. The inside is very interesting with natural light and what looks like a tree in the middle. They let small dogs inside because there was a small pug that sat next to me throughout the dinner who licked my elbow and had a look in his eyes that said "you should drop that piece of pizza if you know what's good for you." Speechless! It's really not in the centre but in my impression the best restaurant of my life! Here is why: It has opened windows to the street and the park in front of the restaurant. There is a fancy bar with some places to sit in the entrance. It is getting crowded very fast! So make sure you're there before 18:00 and register for the tables in the restaurant. The employees of the restaurant are announcing the opening with a golden speakerphone to the guests of the bar. Everyone who wants to and register can goes into the cue to the restaurant! At 19:10 you're sitting at the table. The waiters and waitresses are very very friendly and interested in giving you a great time! Guaranteed you will never and never had experienced something like this. The prices are absolutely fine & the products pizzas and drink are just awesome! What made the good impression was the mood of ALL employees which were so nice to everyone! Even in the crowded evening the employees were able to chat, to explain your meals (EVEN IN ENGLISH, which is EXTRAORDINARY rare in Paris) and make nice conversations. Especially the younger members of the restaurant team are like behaving very opened and friendly to there same age guests. First of all, it is exactly the place that I would love to bring friends to when visiting Paris. What a beautiful restaurant that reminds me some of my favourite ones in LA. The design is on point, the tableware is vintage and the service friendly with a strong Italian accent. Tried the stratacciella smoked cream of burrata, I had to ask for some bread and a spoon to eat it. Then I tried their pasta with anchovies, cherry tomatoes, capers and Basil which was served in their beautiful pan. It was good and not too heavy. I like the fact that they give the choice between portions (individual or for 2) I haven't tried their dessert but I spied the tiramisu that was served to my neighbours and it looked really good. Ober Mamma is touted as being a good place for late night eats. Their website says they're open until 1AM, their Facebook states they're open until 1AM. Reviews I read stated they were open until 1AM. What they fail to mention, however, is that their kitchen closes at 11PM. We were in need of a late meal on a Thursday night and, unfortunately, arrived at 11:05PM and were turned away. Probably wouldn't have found this quite as irritating if it wasn't for the fact I checked their sites before we headed that way (walking a mile, mind you) and just expected the information there to be accurate. Their truffle pasta was pretty good (probably delicious if you love truffle but I'm not the biggest fan). The sausage red sauce pasta was just too salty. But the pizzas. THE PIZZAS. So good. I loved all of the ones I tried (margherita, the kim k one, and a four cheese one I think) and they're great for sharing! NOW LET'S TALK DESSERT. Please. But I do want to add a comment about the service, for fellow travelers who might pass up this restaurant otherwise! Despite the language barrier (I speak not a lick of French) AND tending to a very full restaurant, the waitress was incredibly patient with making recommendations and helping us make sense of the menu items in her limited English. We were galavanting through the city of Paris with an American friend who had previously lived in the city. Of course, that meant that we were going to not only experience a great restaurant but one that was popular among the locals. In fact, Ober Mamma was such a popular restaurant that most people's don't get to have a seat here. Let me just say that it was definitely worth the wait! We got there around 5:30pm and put our name down for 7pm when French dinner began. The restaurant was open starting at 5pm for the bar and drinks so most people after putting their name down initially will sit down at the table inside or out until they were ready to seat everyone. Time flies when you're a little bit tipsy.... because before we knew it we had a seat! I think one of the most impressive aspects of the dinner tonight was pasta. Between the 4 of us that were there, we ordered the 4 person "Famous Truffle Pasta." The waitress made sure to let us know that that was 1 kilo of pasta and for 4 people it's perfect but for 3 it was going to be too much. I have to agree .... that was a lot of food but luckily we had 4 hungry people stuffing our faces. The other super dish on the menu was the baked octopus which was quite possibly the best octopus I had eaten ever... it was perfectly cooked without being too chewy and had this beautifully complex sauce that was perfect for dipping bread. After dinner, we had dessert with tiramisu (which was scooped out of a tray) and passionmisu which was a passion fruit layered cake meant to resemble a tiramisu. Both were amazing with beautiful marscapone sprinkled with chocolate and whipped with sugar. This was definitely one of our favorite meals in the city even though it had nothing to do with French food. You can speak English here without any issues. While the vast majority of people here were French, there were a lot of Americans here as well. Interestingly, I found that the wait staff were Italian and some speaking French with an accent but I had no problem with that! We got a reservation for Ober mama about a week in advance, and were glad we did because even on a Monday night there was a line outside. We were seated immediately when we arrived and our order was quickly taken. I was shocked at how quickly our food and drinks came out, maybe 10 minutes. The drinks were quite large and moderately priced, around 8-10€. We ordered the pesto pasta with zucchini and the carbonara, but the monthly menu has since changed so those options are no longer available. The food was good, however we felt that the pesto pasta had hardly an of the promised zucchini and the carbonara was incredibly rich. The portion sizes were pretty large, so I was nowhere near finishing the carbonara. Our waitress never brought us bread, although the tables around us did get some, and she was incredibly hard to track down to pay. It looked like most people around us were ordering pizzas or the truffle pasta, both of which looked delicious. I might return and try something different, however this won't be making my "must return" list for Paris. read more

This place was ridiculous busy and after being told to come back in 3 hours, we still had to wait about half an hour to get seated and probably another half an hour to get food. The food here is unique and delicious and worth the wait. Red Sauce Pasta - gooood. Truffle Pasta with truffle shavings - gooood. Unique version of Caprese Salad - gooood. Mini pizza flatbread appetizer - amaaaaazing. Actually, the most memorable dish was the flatbread. The dough was incredible. Soft, chewy, stretchy and perfect. The truffle pasta was actually my least favorite thing of the night - it was still really good but was very single note - truffle truffle truffle. Worked better when I alternated bites of other food. I had the luck to watch the table next to us order the nutella dessert. Literally a tub of nutella that you can use as much as you want - but I do question how sanitary that is. read more

First, the ambiance at this restaurant and bar is amazing - they have great music and a nice bar setup that is always crowded.
