Another great find in the 11th arrondisement. I embarrassingly made a reservation for 10:15pm thinking it was for 8:15pm. I blame the jet lag. My husband and I arrived exactly at 8:15pm to find this out. The really nice young hostess told us it was ok and it would be about a 20 minute wait for a table inside. We waited across the street at a bench. The restaurant was packed and there was a constant flow of people waiting and going inside to eat. At exactly 20 minutes, the nice hostess waved us to come over, scanned our Pass Sanitaire, and sat us inside by the window. We had people eating on either side of us within 1.5 feet, which is standard for Parisian dining. No social distancing here! That's fine with us, as I was used to that while living here. The menu (accessed via QR code) has Burrata, pastas, pizzas and more. We had to connect to the restaurant's WiFi to get it to work. We ordered a Burrata with hazelnut appetizer, the Truffle Pasta and the Truffle Pizza to share. We also ordered our standard Large Pelligrino to share. Everything we ordered was amazing. The truffle wasn't overpowering. The Burrata so soft and delicious. For dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu and Profiterole. Again, both were delicious! The service was great. The waitress was very nice and checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. The food came out quickly. This place is a well oiled machine. For the appetizer to share, the pizza, the pasta, 2 desserts, a large bottle of Pelligrino, and added tip, it was only €74 Euro. Payment: They have touchless pay. My weight scale is uber fortunate that we found this spot on our last day in Paris. I legitimately would not have dined anywhere else. The ambiance, the service, the food & drinks... everything was impeccable. The stellar reviews are no joke. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the welcoming modern chic yet rustic interior. Although it was a beautiful day outside, we choose to dine inside for this reason. We ordered the truffle pasta, which is basically the reason why we came here in the first place. Our expectations were HIGH, and the entree did not disappoint! Fantastic pizza!! But let me start with the massive 250g absolute monster of a burrata. It was absolutely delicious and it's definitely big enough to share between 3 people. It was SO cheap - I was so amazed; it was probably like 60% of the price you'd find in the US. So. Good. It tasted so fresh and creamy. The interior is clean, modern and trendy. Ober Mamma specializes in fresh fired pizzas and fresh made pasta and the prices are pretty reasonable. I had a pizza with fresh ham and it was bigger than I could finish. The crust is superb - crunchy and chewy perfection. The mister had a steak special that he really liked. THE HYPE IS REAL! On their website, they recommend you lining up a few minutes before opening -- listen to them! On my first visit, I showed up about 3 minutes after opening with a long line outside but still managed to squeeze into first seating. The second visit, it was 45 minutes in and the only option was outside, while it was raining -- not to worry, it's covered and heated, and it beat waiting an additional 45 min for a table inside. I had the pleasure of sitting at the bar the first time, and their bartenders are the real deal using a mix of ingredients and giving the cocktails a vigorous shake ;). I had the Bellini spritz - best I've had and could not resist ordering more. For that reason, I did not try any other drinks! As for the food, I had the bolognese pasta and pesto burrata pizza - both great choices! With the pizzas, you can really observe the appetite of locals - the treat it as a personal pizza while I would have been more than happy to share - guess it's that delicious! The pizza was certainly one of the best I've had outside of Italy. The server recommend the lemon tiramisu and it was indeed deeeelicious! The cream is so fluffy, and it's got just enough of the citrus flavor. The staff actually speaks more Italian than French, so you can feel how authentic they are. Even though this is a small chain restaurant, you must make reservations because the line was out the door. The restaurant itself had a fun atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty chaotic and cramped, but the food and drinks were tasty. We loved the outside crust of the pizzas, but the bottom was so thin and soggy. Wow! This is probably our favorite restaurant to eat at during our whole trip. We arrived a few minutes before doors were open and they already had a line! They were already seating people in a few minutes before opening. We were seated in the hallway area since we were only a table of two. The setting is very intimate and somewhat hipster-y. There is always a wait, so make sure to come early otherwise they will put you on the waitlist and then call you when you table is ready. Service is great here. As far as Italian cuisine goes, I'm a firm believer that Ober Mamma, and really the entire group of Mamma restaurants across Paris, dish up the best you can find anywhere in the world. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Given the popularity of the Mamma franchise, you can expect a wait at Ober Mamma even if you're lining up well before they open. In the past I've lined up at East Mamma a full forty minutes before they open, but even so with Ober Mamma I was pleased to find that our party of six was able to get a table after about an hour and a half wait (they call you) on a Saturday night. From there, the service is fantastic and the dishes come out quick. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Pizzas and Pastas range between €18,00 and €20,00 or so, which is entirely reasonable given the portion sizes and the quality here. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? There's not much I can say here really besides the simple fact that the Truffle Pasta at Ober Mamma (or East Mamma, or any other Mamma) is the single best pasta dish I've ever had. Anywhere. Ever. Came here after it was recommended by the wonderful people at my hotel (Hotel International Paris) after arriving back in our hotel room rather early around 5pm. The guy at the front desk said that most Parisians ate later in on the evening but for this place, it was recommended I arrived a lot earlier prior to the time my dad and I wanted to eat dinner. Back in our hotel room, I decided to read the reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp to get an idea how far it was from our hotel and to decide approximately what time we had to arrive. As I read more and more, I started getting increasingly worried we wouldn't even make it in if we left when the restaurant opened! I dragged my dad out and made it a goal to get there half an hour prior to opening (so, 6:30pm - note that on Yelp the time it opens is wrong, it should be 7pm). The truth of it is, all the reviews that said to arrive there early prior to opening are all dead on. As the time got closer and closer to 7pm, the line started reaching the end of the block. This was a bit of a drizzly evening as well. When the restaurant opened, it opened with great fanfare with all the waiters, the cooks, all greeted us with incredible enthusiasm lining up near the entrance. We truly felt like we were their special guests. As everyone sat down, the restaurant filled up, immediately. The size of the restaurant isn't small either. Our waiter was very attentive and helped my dad decide on what he wanted (which I believe ended up being the Napoli Pizza). I ordered the truffle pasta. Seriously, to die for. I love truffle, and the flavor of truffle just exploded in my mouth. The dish also has shaved truffle. A dish like this in the US would have been much more expensive. Loooved the texture of the pasta, was just perfect. I gobbled it all up in record time. My dad really loved his pizza, and to this day he remembers it well. He also ate it very quickly. If I teleport and could only choose one place to eat in Paris, it would be this truffle pasta. It was my most memorable meal in my trip. Simply delectable. My dad and I ate fast and wanted to return to our hotel to rest, which I know isn't the norm in Paris which I think caught some expressions of ?? This is a super trendy restaurant near the Moulin Rouge. Because they don't take reservations, you typically have to arrive right when they open to wait in line and secure a table. That is what we did and even then once we got there the line was already around the corner. If you see a long line when you arrive don't let that deter you because it moves quickly since the restaurant has multiple levels of seating and kitchens. We waited for probably 10 minutes and were in. Servers and hosts speak English and they have an English menu. Service was average and the food is not for everyone especially if you have picky eaters in the group. They are known for the truffle pasta so that's what I got and I actually really liked it especially because they served it in the beautiful copper pot that they cooked it in. My sister got the truffle pizza and my mom got the steak but they were less impressed with their meals. This meal was about 100 euro with an appetizer, 3 drinks and 3 entrees so it's also not the most economical choice if you're on a budget. Went here for my anniversary and I have never had a worse or more underwhelming restaurant experience. Had heard great things about the pizzas and the pastas, only to find out from a very apathetic waitress that they were not serving pizza at 7pm on a weekend (for a reservation I booked a month in advance). As for the pasta, if you have a working stovetop and access to any jar of red sauce, maybe save the trip. We also ordered the beef jerky appetizer and were brought a pork belly (which was great for my appetite, since I do not eat it for religious reasons). When we let our waitress know, she did not apologize and just took the plate away. It then took another 10 minutes for our originally ordered appetizer (the beef jerky) to come out and when it did, our waitress took away our NOT FINISHED bowl of pasta. The beef was incredibly underwhelming as well. The only positive thing I have to say about this restaurant is that the pay by phone QR code option made it incredibly convenient to walk out at our leisure. We first heard about this place after reading about unique dishes to try in Paris in a T&L article. They recommended to try the truffle pasta dish if you are a fan of truffles, which my wife and I are, so we made it a mission to visit this place while we were in Paris. We walked into the restaurant for lunch and were seated right away. We were seated in the main dining area which was impressive in size and had a gorgeous man made tree in the center reaching up to the glass ceiling allowing plenty of natural light in. We looked over the menu briefly, but already knew we were both ordering the famous black truffle pasta. The waitress also recommended a white truffle dish they had for an appetizer, so my wife and I ordered that to split. Before the waitress left I inquired about the Crème brûlée dessert option since I know most restaurants need a grace period to prepare it. She checked with the kitchen and confirmed they did indeed have a few left, so we ordered one of them to share for dessert as well. The white truffle dish arrived to our table presented in a beautiful copper pot. The smell of the delicate white truffle was so enticing I barely had a chance to snap a picture before we devoured it happily enjoying the flavors. Then the main dish came out. The black truffle pasta. Once again displayed in a beautiful copper pot. For the relatively low price of this main dish the amount of black truffles present just on top made it well worth it. The flavor was very good and lived up to the hype. I definitely recommend this dish to any truffle or mushroom lover out there. Finally came out the Crème brûlée. Not only was thing huge, but they delivered it with the top on fire with alcohol that was actually cooking the sugar right in front of us. It was very impressive and as we scooped in, it was very delicious. Overall this restaurant not only impressed us with the beautiful decor inside, but the food well exceeded our expectations. i have tried to come to ober mama no less than three times. The first time, when they first opened, i dragged my pregnant belly there only to find out that they do not take reservations and you have to be there to put your name on a list so that you can wait until 10pm to have dinner. I obviously gave up. The second time, i walked by and thought i'd just put my name down to see how long the wait was, same problem. This third time, we actually waited. They reluctantly gave us a seat at the bar (you are not allowed at the bar unless there are seats available) and drank cocktails for almost two hours before we got a table outside in the cold (the wait is much less if you are okay to sit under the heating lamp in the cold). You obviously cannot order food at the bar since this is a really weird french thing. At the table, i kept thinking to myself this better be worth the hassle. i mean, the cocktails were good, but not on an empty stomach and not at 12-15 EUR a drink. But when our first appetiser came, a mini truffle pizza, my brother, my husband, and myself were extremely pleased. i always joked that truffle tastes like gas, but that's because i have never really had good truffle. The truffle here - pretty good! We were pleasantly surprised about how much we loved the truffle pizza. Everything else was just as agreeable. We had a mushroom bruschetta (neve bianco), squid ink pasta (aka black mama), truffle pasta (a lot of mushrooms, this meal), and another pizza of the ham sorts that was more unmemorable. The pasta is cooked al dente and not very salty but the flavour is all there. Their menu changes every month, but the signature truffle pasta is always there. If you are okay with getting there right before they open, or you dont mind strolling the neighbourhoold for an hour or two after the wait, i would go get some pasta and truffle anything there. However, for me, since i am now a mother who lives in the boonies with very little time to spare), i hesitate to recommend anyone to deal with their very hateful and inconvenient system of getting seats (i almost gave this place a three star).
