Food was fine - lamb shush kebab plate and falafel dinner. Service was slow -- may have been short staffed. Tables were spaced apart so we were able to have a conversation without being drowned out by others around us.

Great Mediterranean cuisine. Had tried the Forest Hills restaurant and now first time trying this one on Metropolitan Avenue. What a great decision to go on a Friday night dinner experience. A few suggestions Shepherd's Salad, get the chicken vegetable soup for cold days, Turkish pie

I was brought here on a date a while back and it was actually a pretty good experience. Service is super courteous and kind, and the restaurant is decorated well and spacious with many tables to choose from. My date ordered the chicken kebab platter and I got the eskendar kabab which is my favorite Turkish dish ever. I did taste the chicken kebab on my date's plate, and I found it a little bit on the bland side. Eskander kebab was delicious and the serving was absolutely huge, which is great because this makes for amazing leftovers. It was swimming in clarified butter and a delicious tomato sauce, which is just how I remember it being when I had it in Turkey. I like that they cut up the bread and used it as a base because it's soaked up all the juicy goodness and butter and also makes it easy to heat up the dish the next day. I wish the lamb was a little bit more of a fatty cut than Gyro style shaved meat though. That is the only thing I would improve in this dish. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner here and I would definitely come back to try other things on their menu, especially the baklava. If you are in this part of town, definitely check this place out!!

I wasn't going to come back, but all for second chances. Last time here they had no air conditioning on a hot summer day. But last night it was a different sort of problem. Service just sucked. Don't get me wrong, they are polite and friendly, if they notice you. Came in and the two employees were having such a nice conversation minutes passed before they noticed me. But then, I order my simple gyro platter and in a third full restaurant, still waited almost 25 mins or more for dry, kinda stringy lamb doner. Pictures are of only two things worth my time. Sauce and fresh baked bread. Rice was good. But... yeah, never again. Maybe the one on Austin, but not this one.

OBA has become one of our go tos whether it be for take-out or dine in, we are always left satisfied. The hot falafel and hummus appetizer is delicious. The falafel is crispy and flavorful and the hummus is smooth and silky. The Baba ghanoush is an excellent version without being overly smokey like other versions I've had before. The Lahmacun is wonderful. The gyro plate which comes with rice and salad make for a wonderful meal. Platters come in small or large depending on how hungry you are, but the small is by no means small. Even their wraps are delicious. I haven't had a bad dish. Another bonus is that they are BYOB (at least still as of a month ago) which I always appreciate.

BLUF: Lightly seasoned Turkish food. We've been here a few times to get the variations on the lamb döner for take-out -- as a gyro lunch special, as a pita, etc.. The lamb cuts are thin, moist, lightly seasoned and less greasy when compared with other places. I appreciate this healthy, lower-sodium approach. Single orders are packed with enough food to feed two people. The pita is good, with a buttery lightness, but both their tzatziki and red sauces are watered down. The red sauce seems to have more tang than heat.

A brand new Mediterranean spot on Metropolitan Ave with nice looking indoor and outdoor seating. Located several blocks away from Trader Joes. Lamb gyro (Doner): A generous portion of tender lamb shards in a pita stuffed with a garden salad of spinach, arugula, romaine, red cabbage, red onions and tomato slices. Perfect with white or red sauce. I prefer lots of the white sauce which gives the sandwich a perfect balance of flavor. If you like it spicy, give the red one a try. I will definitely come back for another one of these sandwiches. $9.25. Everything was fresh and tasty. The lamb was so delicious! The menu has a variety of different dishes to choose from seafood, shish kebab, vegetarian hot and cold appetizers and Turkish favorites. The restaurant was bustling with many customers who are eating in, taking out and delivering. Final note: Looking forward to trying out other dishes!

Ordered delivery. The chicken had hair in it, pita was stale, and tzatziki was slimey. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

If you are looking for a neighborhood place to dine regularly, this spot is not a bad choice. As for food, I think the beat thing they make is the falafel, which are crunchy on the outside and loose on the inside. The rest of the El Toum Appetizers was just okay. I didn't love their hummus, baba ganoush, or tabouli. The accompanying pita bread was average as well. On the Mix Kebab Platter, the kofta was tender, though could be more juicy and flavorful. The lamb was decent too, but the surprise was the chicken. For Breast meat, it was extremely moist and delicious. I do wish the food was slightly better, but definitely decent enough that I would come back. Like I said, not a bad place to grab a bite if you live nearby.

ALL the meats have a nice seasoning and flavor on them. The salmon was good but too soft for my liking. The artichoke appetizer was enjoyable but I wish it had some sumac and a bit of tahini on top of it to give it more flare. The tabouleh, famous, hummus and baba ganoush were very flavourful. The garlic was prominent. We also got the burger on a different day and it was perfectly cooked. The fries were thick. Very good fries. Dessert... I love that he doesn't add a lot of sugar syrup to his desserts. They are balanced so well. The taste of rose water with the sugar coating the phillo sheets is comforting. The restaurant decor is simple. I love the mosaic candle lights and the random welcoming signs and pictures of Lebanon landmarks. Mera's Tip: eat here

We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!

There's a lovely rustic, yet high end vibe. It's also immaculate. Our server was fantastic...just the right balance of friendly, attentive and helpful. It was hard to choose appetizers because I actually wanted one of each. There aren't a lot of Mediterranean choices near where I live currently so my eyes were definitely WAY bigger than my stomach. That said, we shared the halloumi and three different dips served with warm pita. Then we added a last minute choice of grilled sweet sausage for my stepdad. Before we even received our appetizers, they brought a lovely pile of warm pita with delicious sides to accompany: olives, white bean spread, and red pepper hummus (I believe... whatever it was, it was delicious!). The appetizers were outstanding and it was really hard to pick a favorite. Each one of the dips was delightful: taramasalata, hummus, and eggplant. I tasted a bite of the sausage and I understood why my stepdad enjoyed it so much (perfectly cooked and just the right amount of seasoning). The appetizers were new to my mom and she truly enjoyed everything. Her main course was crabcakes and she raved about those as well. I chose the Souvlaki with a side of grilled vegetables and it was exactly what I wanted with perfectly spiced and not overcooked cubes of chicken. The other grilled chicken dish got a huge thumbs up...and that's from a super picky eater. We topped everything off by sharing a large piece of cake that was very decadent....and even though I love chocolate,.... no way I could've finished it by myself. It had an Oreo crust and the rest was a rich chocolate mousse. Next time? Baklava. Looking forward to going back to visit the fam and enjoying Maria's again. The manager (or owner, not sure) lady was super friendly and gave us some recommendations, some of which we followed. We ordered the rice pilaf, which was moist, soft but not overcooked, and amazingly seasoned. The roasted eggplant in tahini was terrific; it was roasted to perfection with no bitterness that sometimes eggplant could have if undercooked. The carrot salad was spicy yet refreshing. Lastly we had the beef luyla kabab (the ground beef kabab) and Pargit (young chicken) thighs kabab which both were melting in our mouths. You didn't need teeth for that. Again, its easy to overcook over the grill, but not when you know what you're doing. The offered their home compote for a refreshing beverage, which was indeed appropriate for this summer day and without the extra sweetness most compost have. Don't judge it for being Glatt Koaher. It will take any doubts, if you have any, with your first bite! In conclusion: come hungry, you'd want to eat everything on the menu. I took the takeout menu as I know I'll order some, given I live in the neighborhood. My apologies, we forgot to take a pic of the kababs!

We ordered: - eggplant dip - fries - Greek salad (large) - cooked fish - calamari - octopus Honestly I was so disappointed with the food. It didn't taste as fresh and was overall too salty. The eggplant dip had a weird taste. Friend fries were not as crispy and unevenly distributed portions of salt. The calamari was nothing special. The fish was okay, and the octopus was so salty we actually sent back the dish. It was very difficult to enjoy it. The staff was so accommodating and actually took the dish off our bill.
