Most of them were barely warm enough to make me sweat, and even the hottest room didn't feel hot at all. At first, I assumed something was malfunctioning, which I would have completely understood. However, I asked the front desk and was told that these are going to be their regular temperatures moving forward because they had been cited by the health department for the rooms being too hot. I understand that they have to comply with health department requirements, but for someone who specifically comes here for the traditional Korean sauna experience, this completely changes the experience for me. If I'm going to a sauna, I expect to sweat. The LA weather outside honestly feels hotter than some of the sauna rooms now. It's unfortunate because iSpa used to be worth the hour-plus drive for me, and I genuinely loved coming here. This was a nice touch. When I arrived, Cristina, from the front desk walked me to their quiet room, which has the ultimate relaxation vibes. She was amazing! She had my foot soak ready to go, along with a heated neck wrap and a blanket. On top of that, she made me a delicious vanilla chamomile tea, accompanied by a chocolate. A literal pampering angel. My facial was done by Chasity. She was also so nice and she gave me plenty of time to change and get comfortable in the spa bed. We had a schedule: 3:30-4:30PM 60 min headspa, 4:30-5 buffer time if things run late, drive home, 5:15-5:45 get ready, 5:45 leave, arrive for proposal at 6:15PM to make sunset at 6:30PM. My friend's now-fiance called Blue Moon the week prior to set-up an appointment and let the technicians know. He was even able to pay ahead of time for us through Zelle. He said the ladies were super nice and mentioned they'd give the best technician to my friend since it was her special day. A day or two leading up to the proposal, I called to ask if during the blow-dry portion of our headspa, they could style my friend's hair a certain way. She wanted them to use a round brush to flip out her ends. They let me know if they had time, they would most likely be able to accommodate. But to let the front desk know when we arrived. BlueMoon sent reminder texts leading up to the appointment and told us to arrive 5-10 min early for a hair consultation and to change into the robes. My friend and I arrived to our appointment a little before 3:20PM. There was a little waiting area. They had us fill out a quick form and I asked again if we could style my friend's hair a certain way. She said she would let the technician know and if there was time, they'd be able to. She also told us to ask the technician. This is where things went a bit south. We ended up waiting in the waiting room a while. There was a heatwave this particular weekend so it was a bit warm in the waiting room. A few people were there before us and came in after us, but they all got called in before us. I feel like this happened because they tried to put our headspa rooms next to one another, which is so nice, but at the end of the day doesn't matter who you end up next to since the rooms are individual. We ended up starting our hair consultations in the waiting room a little after 3:30. The consultation was a cool experience as they used a camera to check our roots, follicles, oil development, and split ends. Then we waited some more. We finally got called into the headspa rooms around 3:55PM. I ended up having to wait in the hallway a bit as it appeared my room wasn't properly set-up, but no big deal. Eventually, I was let in. They had us change into a very cute and comfortable wrap. By the time we started the headspa, it was 4pm, 40 minutes after we had arrived. The headspa was AMAZING. I had Mimi and she did everything wonderfully. She greeted me and gave me verbal cues. She led me throughout and the pressure of her massage was perfect. SHE WAS FABULOUS! My friend had Wendy. Wendy was also great but didn't give her as many directions as Mimi did. When we finished the headspa portion, we were done around 4:50PM. I went to the hair area first and was given a cute little snack (biscoff cookies, a water bottle, and grapes) in a fun Halloween bowl. Mimi got started on my hair and was done in about 10-15 minutes. MY HAIR LOOKED SO GOOD. Now my friend finished a little bit after me and this is the part that gets difficult. We didn't end up getting out of the headspa until around 5:45PM (2 hours after our appointment started). This is so tough as I know Wendy took her time to make my friend's hair look as good as possible. AND MAN OH MAN DID HER HAIR LOOK GOOD. I think that was on us to not let them know ahead of time that we needed to leave by 5PM/5:15PM the latest to catch sunset, but I didn't know how long things would take. Also, my friend has long hair so I'm sure that played a role. The lady at the front was so nice as she tried to help me let Wendy know that we needed to leave ASAP. But it was such a tough situation. I wanted to get out of there, but I didn't want to rush Wendy and be rude, but we couldn't miss sunset. Wendy didn't necessarily move fast, but again, she might've been taking her time on purpose to ensure a great final product. Either way, she did a great job on my friend's hair. However, I was incredibly stressed out with the time. The lady at the front checked in on Wendy a few times and kept saying she was close to being finished, but it still took another 20-30 minutes from that point. Luckily, we made it to the proposal in the nick of time and we were able to catch some sunlight. It was beautiful! Generally, the services we got at BlueMoon were great. I think it was difficult because we started the actual headspa 30 minutes late and the timing was thrown off. She'd never dry my ears properly leaving water and suds sitting in there for the entire time even after the service was finished. While shampooing she'd massage my neck and shoulders while her hands were full of hair product and shampoo suds, WHY?!! Hair products are NOT meant to be used on skin and she kept massaging it in and not washing it off leaving the hair product and suds just SITTING on my neck and shoulders for the majority of the service. Additionally she got water into my eyes MULTIPLE times and didn't even notice, would put a SOPPING wet towel over my eyes then run water right over it making me feel like it was a water boarding punishment, failed to dry me off properly at the end making me sit up resulting in water dripping down my back and getting my clothes wet. Then she gave me cotton swabs for me to clean my ears and when I went to try to throw it away after using it, she roughly pulled it out of my fingers so fast that the dirty cotton swabs touched my fingers leaving my ear wax on my own finger. Cherry on top she then shooed me off the chair after 5 mins of blow drying before my hair was fully dry, didn't even brush my hair until she saw me finger combing it myself. The only reason I gave more than one star is that Maybe the other head spa staff is better but I will never come back because of how bad mine was. Poor attention to detail is an understatement.
