Irvine Spa has updated their facilities. Some rooms are getting renovated, some rooms have cushion mats with head rest to lay. There game room is actually pretty cute now. It use to be a kids play area but they change into a photo booth, claw machine game room so older folks can enjoy. Their food court menu has expanded too. It use to be mostly Korean food but now you have shave ice, fruits, salad and smoothie drinks. Which is great if you're not particularly wanting anything heavy. Yes price has increased but they are also updated and expanded to make the experience more pleasant which I appreciate. It being over 6 months that I last came and was pleasantly surprised. I stop going for a while because the price increased but the facilities stayed the same and a little underwhelmed but now I'm enjoying it little bit more. I used to go to iSpa pretty regularly and was even willing to drive over an hour to get here because I loved the atmosphere so much. They put a lot of effort into recreating the feel of a traditional Korean village in their jjimjilbang and rest area, and it really does make you feel like you've been transported to Korea. The women's soaking pools are also spacious. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was really disappointing. The jjimjilbang rooms were noticeably cooler than I remembered. Most of them were barely warm enough to make me sweat, and even the hottest room didn't feel hot at all. At first, I assumed something was malfunctioning, which I would have completely understood. However, I asked the front desk and was told that these are going to be their regular temperatures moving forward because they had been cited by the health department for the rooms being too hot. I understand that they have to comply with health department requirements, but for someone who specifically comes here for the traditional Korean sauna experience, this completely changes the experience for me. If I'm going to a sauna, I expect to sweat. The LA weather outside honestly feels hotter than some of the sauna rooms now. It's unfortunate because iSpa used to be worth the hour-plus drive for me, and I genuinely loved coming here. This was my first kspa experience and I went with some of my girl friends. We spent the full six hours there, from just hanging out in the cafeteria, going to different hot rooms, relaxing at the main area. We skipped out on other services such as the massage and the the body scrub this time around. But just with the admission alone, our time passed so fast. We loved the ability to just go from one area to another and the ability to go the cafeteria to eat and chit chat. The food was really good. We got assortment of items to share between the four of us and it was delicious. Though, the food price is a bit pricier than usual. I will definitely be coming back. I was so pleased with the experience. Such a fun thing to do with friends. Facilities were clean. Water was nice and hot in the showers. They provide lockers for your shoes and then separate lockers for the rest of your things. They provide uniforms for you to wear in the common areas and sauna/ice rooms and cafe. Can you get better Korean food elsewhere, yes, but it gets the job done and isn't bad by any means. I would get it again because of the convenience and ambience. I haven't been here in a long time so it was a pleasant surprise that not only is it as clean as I remembered it, they added a lot of soft lounge mats all over for people to sleep on. I love all the different treatment rooms ranging from different types of heat levels. The cafeteria also serves really delicious food at affordable price. I recently went to a kspa up in LA and it was small, crowded and smelly. Irvine Spa in contrast is so spacious, clean and not crowded on a week night. It's been a long time since I've been to the K-spa or Korean spa/bathhouse. This was my first time at this location, which is near the Diamond Jamboree plaza. I got the body scrub and massage for $135 since it includes admission, which is normally $40. Prior to the service, they recommend you soak in the hot pool for approximately 20-30 minutes. The facility is separated with a women's and men's area, and once you enter, you pay for your admission or service, put your things into the locker, strip naked, and head to the shower area where you are required to shower before you do anything. For just the admission alone, you get access to a variety of saunas, hot and cold pools, a steam room, and a common area with heated floors for relaxation. You get a time limit of 6 hours, which is way more than enough. At my appointment time, the workers, who are dressed in black bras and panties, call out your number (which is also your locker key number) and you head to the service area. The woman scrubbed off my dead skin for 30 minutes while applying a quick 5 minute facial mask, then had me shower off and come back. Next, she applied oil all over my body and gave me a mini massage which basically just loosened a few of my knots in my shoulder and back area. It was not really relaxing, but I only care about the results. :) Then she poured some type of warm milk all over my body, and poured some into my hand to wash my face with. She also shampooed my hair at the end... and I was asked to shower off my body again. I then headed to the common area where the co-ed saunas were and tried out the Salt room, the Forest room, Ondol room, Fire Room, and Ice Room for a short period. I spent a total of about 3 hours there with the service time included. Since I was short on time, I will get another service in the future, but come earlier to use the sauna rooms first, maybe try out their on-site restaurant, then get my service at the end and go home from there. I really enjoyed this day of pampering at the Korean spa. I just wished the guests weren't all on their phones and being loud. People were having full on conversations in the common area and whispering loudly in the sauna rooms. From a 4 to a 2.5 stars. I came here recently to relax for a few hours, get some reading done, get a massage, and dine in their kitchen. They have raised their admission prices several times in the last 2 years. Upon arrival, I was contemplating on getting a massage or not and decided not to and instead just used my pre-purchased admission ticket. I would say the best thing here is their dining area. They have a good selection of Korean food and drinks including smoothies, juices, and even boba. I usually get their almond milk tea. My favorite food choices would be the tofu soup with seafood only (yes, you can ask for no beef) or the burnt bibimbap bowl with all the veggies and yes, you can also ask for a fully cooked egg instead of a Sunnyside up if you don't like runny eggs. My meal with a drink usually comes out to $26. The reason why I am lowering my rating is because their standing shower area stinks. For the last couple of times I've been here, that area smells either like mold or a sewer issue. Secondly, I witnessed one of their shower massage employees (they wear black tops and bottoms) use the restroom and left without washing her hands. Yes, she is a masseuse who doesn't wash her hands after using the toilet. I would never book any type of massage here based on that fact alone. One more thing, i also saw 2 women get into an argument. I was in a dry sauna room with 2 other females already there. One female came in and confronted someone else who was trying to relax for not picking up her towels in the other room. The lady who got confronted acted like she didn't speak English so the argument was brief. However, the lady who did the confronting called her a stupidass before walking away. LOL I'm laughing about it now but honestly it is suppose to be relaxing environment and chasing someone down over towels when you don't even work here is a bit much. Not very relaxing. I'm glad they've done some renovations for their Irvine clients and those coming from the surrounding areas. Overall, there are some good improvements, but there are also a few policies that really don't make sense. The Bad - Locker Room Policies They have strict rules about customers wearing shoes and using phones in the men's locker room, which I completely understand from a cleanliness and privacy standpoint. The problem is that these rules don't seem to apply equally to employees. The phone policy is especially strange. Customers aren't allowed to use their phones in the locker area, presumably because people are frequently changing or completely undressed. That makes sense. Even if someone is only texting, nobody around them can tell whether the camera is active, so restricting phones protects everyone's privacy and makes people more comfortable. However, customers are apparently allowed to use their phones in the dark lounge area within the locker-room section--I saw several people doing it. Meanwhile, employees such as cleaners and scrubbers can walk around with their phones. The same inconsistency applies to shoes. Customers have strict rules, yet employees can wear shoes through the locker room, walk outside near the jacuzzis, and then come right back inside wearing those same shoes. The policy simply doesn't make sense if it isn't applied consistently. If privacy is the reason for restricting phones, then employees carrying phones through areas where customers may be undressed raises the exact same concern. A Simple Solution Create a dedicated employee break/lounge area where employees can eat, relax, check their phones, and take breaks when they aren't actively providing service. There appears to be space near the outdoor jacuzzi area that could potentially be converted into a small employee lounge with seating and a TV. That would give employees somewhere comfortable to take their breaks while keeping phones out of customer changing areas. Front Desk & Customer Service The front desk experience could also use improvement. Customer service doesn't have to be complicated. Even basic hospitality goes a long way: "How are you?" "My pleasure." "Of course." "How was your massage/service?" "Thank you for coming." "We hope to see you again." "Have a great evening." Since this is a Korean spa, it would even be a nice touch to teach the staff--and maybe even interested customers--a basic hello and goodbye in Korean. When hiring front-desk employees, I'd look for people who naturally have the friendly, energetic hospitality you see at places like Chick-fil-A: people who enjoy greeting customers, communicating, and making guests feel welcome. That would also allow management to spend less time worrying about basic front-desk interactions and more time strategizing about growing the business, increasing traffic, and potentially opening additional locations. The Good The facility is clean. Considering the amount of traffic, the steam room doesn't have that funky smell you sometimes encounter at busy spas. That's a big positive. Customers also seem respectful of one another, and overall the environment feels orderly. Future Improvements I'd love to see management visit some of the better spas around the country and bring back ideas. King Spa in Virginia and SoJo Spa Club in New Jersey are good examples, particularly when it comes to outdoor amenities and creating a larger spa experience. Even borrowing some ideas from luxury properties such as Wynn/Encore--especially how employees greet, communicate with, and take care of guests--could take the customer experience up another level. The goal wouldn't be to turn it into a Vegas resort. Keep the Korean-spa identity, but combine it with some of the hospitality and amenities that other successful spas do exceptionally well. There's already a good foundation here. A little more consistency with the rules, stronger front-desk hospitality, and some ideas borrowed from top spas could make the overall experience significantly better. One last note: add a kiosk to the back room area. When customers see a good scrubbing, the kiosk shows opening times they can manually add (locker number, name and phone number - phone number just in case another customer add the wrong number or must scan locker number wrist to kiosk). I had such an amazing experience at I Spa in Irvine, and I will definitely be back. This wasn't my first time at a Korean spa, but it was my first time receiving a service here and it did not disappoint. First, let's talk about cleanliness because that matters. The entire facility was spotless. From the common areas to the locker room and spa areas, everything was well-maintained, clean, and comfortable, which made it easy to fully relax and enjoy the experience. When you first walk in, you'll place your shoes in a locker (no shoes allowed inside), and you'll be given a wristband that acts as your key and ID throughout your visit. They also provide clothes to wear in the common areas so you can comfortably walk around and enjoy the space. The common area is co-ed, but once you enter the locker room and spa areas, it is separated by women and men, and yes, it is fully nude in those areas. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours relaxing and resetting. They also have a cafeteria where you can grab a light bite, which is perfect if you come on an empty stomach. There's even a small arcade area for kids (12 and up), although I personally wouldn't recommend bringing children unless they understand how to be quiet and respect the relaxing environment. Came here for the second time this weekend, got the scrub and gold massage for $210, which comes with access to the whole facility (usually $40 without a service). We booked reservations ahead of time. This is an ASIAN spa, which means clothing is not present on the gender specific sides (they give you a pink or brown cotton shorts and t shirt uniform to wear in the common area). My favorite thing is to bring a book and read in the common area after my treatment , and also eat lunch at the Korean restaurant. Highly recommend doing this as at least a 4 hour excursion, you can stay up to 6 hours (which we did ). I like that the services are also pretty comprehensive if you do the most expensive one (face mask, hair wrap, full body etc ) Pros: - the actual spa service itself is quite luxurious - I had Sumi and she did a fantastic job scrubbing off all my dead skin, I feel super exfoliated and very soft afterwards. I was so relaxed during my gold wrap that I fell asleep LOL. And the Asian style massage was great, especially on the back and shoulders. - the sheer variety of amenities outside of the appointment are great too - I recommend coming at least an hour earlier than your appointment so you can take advantage of the hot tubs, wet sauna, and fire and forest rooms that make you sweat - co-ed with separate gender sides for the actual spa, and then a joint common area where you wear your uniforms and are clothed. Great for couples if you want to try something new together ! - the Korean restaurant inside the spa is actually so good - solid Korean style street food and the bingsoo is so good (medium is easily shareable between 2-3 people) - easy to use locker keys - lovely common area with heated floors, TVs playing the World Cup, and some massage chairs - I do really love the ice room in the common area Cons: - I'm soooo glad we came on the earlier side around 9am on a Saturday because it got VERY busy later in the day after 12noon. I've been here twice now, and I think this will be a place I would regularly visit. Both times we came here, we got the acupressure massage, which is 55 minutes, and it comes with spa admission ($40 value) which I feel is worth it. Essentially, your massage is $85! You pay for your experience, and they give you a locker key and a pair of shirt and shorts (pink for women, don't remember exactly the color for men whether blue or black). When you first enter, you take your shoes off at the first locker room based on your key number. You walk in further to the second set of lockers where you put your belongings and get changed (or walk around on the women's side in the nude). They have plenty of towels for you to use. On the women's side they have bathrooms, an area to get ready (hair and makeup done self service). Then there is the spa area where you take a shower to clean yourself before going in and/or before leaving (amenities include body wash, shampoo, conditioner, mirror, dividers between each shower with a total of 6 showers), cold overhead shower, saunas, different temperature pools (cold, warm, hot/warmer). You are scheduled at a time to get your massage and can wait in the women's side waiting room, which is next to where you enter the women's side. Seems like it was significantly busier on the weekend than the weekday we came last time. The massage rooms are for individuals (no opportunity for side-by-side couples massage). Both times my masseuse did excellent jobs. The first time I came here, something to note was that my massage was just almost too much, but I feel they gave really good effort. I am someone who definitely needs a lot of work on their knots/muscle tightness. The second time, it was more comfortable. Service was friendly both times. They do seem to expect and are grateful for tips. They will give you an envelope (or you're supposed to pick one up) and either Venmo their username listed on the envelope or just place cash in there, which you are less likely to have given the spa experience. After the spa, we went to the jjimjilbang, where both men and women can hang out. You'll enter a large room with heated floors, plenty of floor seating and limited table/bench seating. Towards the left of the room is where there are the different therapy rooms (clay, salt, cold, heat, etc) for different skin goals. It felt so nice to alternate between the rooms. It's a bit themed too. The cold room basically was like walking into a fridge with carpet on the ground, ice on the walls. There is a dry heat room where it has almost like a furnace. I can't remember each of the rooms' features, but that's the idea. They have a work/lounge room where you can bring your laptop to work or other things, like at a coffee shop. They have a food court (or more like their own restaurant). It always feels so nice to get a hot soup after getting a massage and being in the jjimjilbang. Prices were reasonable for food. I would not recommend iSpa Irvine based on my experience. The entire place was extremely overcrowded, which made it difficult to relax or enjoy any of the amenities. The bathrooms and locker rooms felt outdated, and the showers were especially old and in serious need of renovation. One of the best spas I've ever visited! Today I got a scrub and massage and it was everything I wanted plus more. It definitely surpassed my expectations when I received a cucumber mask and my hair was washed. They really do scrub you down & my skin feels so silky smooth. I had Jasmine doing my service and she did a phenomenal job! The common area is huge with numerous rooms to try. It was sooo relaxing, I didn't want to leave. My favorite was the wood room. I didn't try the food court but it looked delicious! I only wish there were more water stations. Admission is 40 dollars and I scheduled a body scrub for 70 dollars. I've been going to the Korean spa in Ktown for years so I had something I can compare to. First I love how this place separates shoes storage area with the changing area. The floor inside the lady's changing area is a lot cleaner than I expected. Standard spa area with hot tubs, showering area, dry and wet saunas, relax room and a small chilling area. I also appreciate this place has a working room where people can bring work/study materials there to work on while relaxing in a spa. My body scrub session was insanely good! Cheaper and better than the other place I've been going (not gonna mention names here, lol). I felt so much better after my body scrub session. During my time there, it wasn't very crowded but I could see that happening due to the facility size and the dense population in Irvine. Overall I love this place and will go back. Parking is free and has lots of spots. Free WiFi and food court also available inside. One star is taken from the broken hairdryer not being replaced timely. read more

I also love that there's a cafeteria for you to grab a meal if you get hungry. Currently it's $40 for the hot rooms + the common area for 6 hours. They are simply *too many people*. And a good number of them are annoying yappers. Cannot come here to relax almost ever anymore. Which is very unfortunate since their jjimjilbang is very nice. This was my first Korean spa experience, so part of this review is definitely from the perspective of someone who had no idea what they were doing. I came here with a group of girlfriends for my friend's birthday, and none of us had been to a Korean spa before. Honestly, it was confusing from the start. There wasn't much direction on where to go, what order to do things in, how the facilities worked, or what you were supposed to do if you booked extra services. We also came with one guy and a group of girls, so we didn't realize right away that we'd all be separated. Between that, people going off for body scrubs or massages, and everyone trying to figure it out as we went, I don't think we used the spa the way it was meant to be used at all. We ended up kind of bouncing around, asking what to do next, hanging out in the common area for a bit, and then leaving. The actual body scrub/massage add-on was fine, but overall it just felt disorganized and not very beginner-friendly. I've since seen friends go back and actually know what they're doing -- using the pools, sauna rooms, eating afterward, spending real time there -- and I can see how it could be a much better experience if you know the flow. The staff were very cheerful and friendly. The locker rooms were spacious, and we were given a shirt and short to change with. We tried all the sauna rooms, including the salt room and the ice room. It wasn't very crowded, and there was a lot of space. We laid down and relaxed for a bit in the main sauna area. It was very quiet, and everyone was respectful of each other. Afterwards, we had private massages! Then, we headed towards their restaurant, which is also in the building. We pretty much ordered everything in the menu! For my belated birthday celebration I decided to finally check out a Korean spa. $35 for admission, which includes the spa/sauna area (nude, gender separated) and a common area with the jjim jil bang themed rooms and a courtyard area with heated tiles. There is also a cafeteria with tasty and relatively affordable Korean food. We booked a body scrub as well for $65/person, which was an interesting experience. I had never been bathed on a table before, and they really did a thorough full-body scrub. After checking in, you put your shoes into a locker and then your clothing in a larger locker. The nude area has cold, warm, and hot pools, a dry sauna, and a steam sauna. There are also several showers. There were also TV areas with recliners (uniform necessary in those areas). It was not my first time in a nude spa (common in Asia), but it was definitely interesting seeing the variety of men. We enjoyed the common area with friends, including a yummy meal and the various rooms (hot, red clay, salt, forest, and ice rooms). We spent the full 6 hours at I Spa and the time flew by! read more
