They do NOT do a comprehensive review of your system and then come to you with a list of issues to…read moreaddress with a total cost. What they do is they find one thing. Charge you to fix it. Then, find another and charge you to fix it. Then another and another. Total rip off. My tech did not do the easiest check first. Which was check the coolant level. That is where you should start fist. However, he found capacitors and such to be replaced first. I paid $1,500 to have things fixed only to find I had a failed evaporator coil that should have been noticed from the VERY BEGINNING and wasn't. The tech, Santos, should have seen that I had a failed, rusted evaporater coil, when he installed the fist capacitor. It was obvious that was where the coolant leak would have been. We will get that part later. Be careful doing business with this company. Demand a FULL comprehensive review BEFORE paying for anything. Make them list out EVERY THING they found wrong before making any decision. I was strung along in a desperate situation and taken advantage of. When I asked for a refund I only got $350 back. I understand I had a coolant leak. I was not informed of that until AFTER I spent nearly $700 on two capacitors (that costs about $50 for both parts!). It was very convenient that Santos missed the rusted out evaporator coil when he was working on the FIRST capacitor. When the manager came to my house when I made my first complaint he stated, "Santos was a more junior tech and to chalk this up as a learning experience for Santos." That was an expensive learning experience that I paid for. The manager was Miles. The owner JD was not very helpful. JD accused me of playing "Monday morning quarterback" and also backed out of coming to my house to see what had happened. He had Miles come in his place last minute. I suspect that is because he knew his tech was in the wrong and he chickened out meeting me face to face in my home where I was scammed. Do not do business with this company. They will string you along and take your money. This would be a different story IF, and I mean IF, the tech had done a comprehensive review of my system and came back and said I found the following issues and it will cost $1,500 to fix and the fix may be temporary as there is a leak. What happened was we replaced one capacitor and had to agree to pay for it to move forward. Then another bad capacitor was found and had to agree to pay for that to move forward and THEN the coolant was low and had to pay nearly $500 for that to be replaced and had to agree to that and then had to pay for "Stopleak" to be administered. To add insult to injury the the tech, Santos, then had the balls to ask me to pay $250 for a leak check to find the leak AFTER I just put the coolant in and stop leak in. That seemed like a waste of MORE money since I have now, already, put in the coolant. Total scam. Beware!

I…read morewas a For Sale By Owner, and wanted to make sure I had checks & balances and that everything was in order for the sale. Scheduling my appointment was quick and easy; Destiny was absolutely wonderful and offered premier customer service! The technician arrived a little early for the appointment time which was great with my busy schedule that day. He was warm and friendly, and the check-up didn't take as long as I expected. After the check-up he walked me through and explained everything he checked and the condition of my HVAC unit, coils, and more. I felt comfortable that I chose the right company. During the closing of my house, the buyers continued to tell me they felt like there was something wrong with the a/c and wanted me to either replace the 5 year old unit, or reduce my selling price by $6,500 although the unit was cooling perfectly. To satisfy the buyers, Hobgood came out early again on a Saturday to check the unit with the buyers present; Robert at Hobgood inspected the HVAC again and told the buyers the unit was just fine. Later the following week, I received an invoice from the buyer's realtor for over $6,000 from Hobgood to replace the entire unit. The realtor told me that the coils, HVAC, and many other things needed to be replaced and the buyers wanted the that amount reduced off of the sales price or else they were going to cancel the contract. Confused by the entire situation, I called Hobgood and spoke with Destiny, who immediately called Robert to figure out what was really going on with my HVAC... Apparently, Robert told the buyers the HVAC system was just fine, then the buyers asked Robert to send them an invoice for the full price "Just incase" the complete HVAC system ever needed to be replaced. Then, the buyers sent that same invoice to me to demand a reduction of my sales price stating the unit had many problems. Upset, I immediately called the buyer's Realtor and told her what I learned from Hobgood and that I was not lowering my price one cent, I told her that they could cancel their contract if they wanted to because they were being so very shady in trying to get me to drop the price from day one. Needless to say, the buyers did cancel the contract since I refused to drop my sales price. My house did end up selling the very next month and the final buyers had absolutely no issues with the HVAC. Thanks to the honest business practices at Hobgood Mechanical, I ended up saving over $6,000 on the sale of my house. If you're looking for a company that is honest, has integrity, offers premier customer service, has competitive rates, and is conveniently located in Creedmoor, I highly recommend Hobgood to everyone!
