We finally made it to Modern Love. It's been on my list for years now because Isa Chandra is like…read morethe OG vegan chef. We happened to get there during brunch for our first visit, which was great because it was a mix of both lunch and breakfast options. We split one main dish from each part of the menu. The Tofu Benedict was the best Benedict I've ever eaten IN MY LIFE, and also top three best breakfasts I've ever had. The smoked tomato is what makes that dish extra special. The rosemary home fries on the side were also incredible and I'm really picky when it comes to potatoes. We also split the Chickpea Parm sandwich but I was so full that I ended up taking a majority of my half sandwich home. Which was perfect because it was even better cold! The Italian flavors mixed with the savory chickpea patty and the bitter greens was just perfect. The only thing that wasn't great (not docking any stars for this) was dessert. We ordered the Strawberry "Tiramisu." I'm putting Tiramisu in quotes because I detected no espresso and no cinnamon. It was super bland. I let my husband eat most of it. Would not order that again. I am looking forward to returning! The wait staff were really friendly, the ambiance was super pretty, and food came out super fast and hot. Perfection.

Genuinely sad to be writing this one in the past tense. I came here for a date night, and it was…read moreintimate and cozy in exactly the way you want a date-night spot to be. Warm atmosphere, a strong selection of vegan food and drinks, and the kind of place that made the evening feel special without trying too hard. It's since closed, and from what I understand it wasn't about the food or the love from regulars, it was the brutal economics of running a sit-down restaurant in a delivery-and-takeout world. Nine years of serving genuinely great vegan comfort food in Williamsburg, done in by margins rather than quality. That's a rough way for a good restaurant to go. If you ever got to eat here, you know what was lost. If you didn't, I'm sorry you missed it.

This place slaps! They are small, but they utilize the space very well. Nice colors, good vibe. I…read moremade reservations, but they weren't really honored in the sense that we were running late, and when we came in, we just so happened to be able to get a table. It's not like one was actually reserved, but hey, it worked out, so I'm happy about that. Onto the food: I am half Haitian, and I may not speak Haitian Kreyol, but I know my Haitian food. I can prove my Haitian ethnicity by cooking traditional dishes. The legume was on point! That dish was my favorite. My friend truly enjoyed her salmon. Honestly, I wish I had gotten the salmon to take home instead of the Haitian fried chicken. Now, that wasn't that great to me, and I didn't enjoy it :( I'm still giving them all the stars and all the props because I really appreciated the service. This was my first time trying a Haitian patty with spinach, and it was absolutely fantastic. I think it's even better than the chickpea one. I would definitely highly recommend this place and also go back. But the Haitian fried chicken need to be better. Still, I'll definitely come again and try the salmon next time!!!

I finally had the chance to try this Black owned and Haitian owned business. I came here a couple…read moreof times in the evening and at night. I had the Lakou Salmon Burger with Green Plantain & a Side Kale Salad and enjoyed it. The Epis seasoning makes the food taste better! The White Sangria here is phenomenal! I've had the Red Sangria as well but it doesn't compare to the White Sangria. I do want to give the Cafe options a try such as the iced coffee. This place is nice and cozy. The employees who I've encountered here are very nice. There's also a small tv where they had the World Cup games on. This is location that's not too far from me so I will definitely be back in the future.
