I'm actually shocked about the 3 stars here. Fuel is one of my neighborhood favorites. It's one of the first healthy options in the neighborhood and I've been ordering from them for awhile now. Most of the time I have my food delivered but since my nail salon is right down the block I stop in every other Saturday. Now here are my favs: the creamy avocado tuna sandwich, marinated mushroom bowl, pre-workout acai bowl with almond butter, the mango ginger smoothie and peanut butter cup smoothie. I stick to my favorites because I know they stay consistent and I can't go wrong. I also love that delivery is always super fast. But with healthy food options there comes a higher price which is expected. Just be very clear about your wants and they try to accommodate. read more

My coworker and I were trying to decide where to have lunch last week while attending a training/workshop at one of the field offices. We were looking forward to a much needed break so that we could go outside and walk somewhere to enjoy the beautiful weather. My coworker is vegan and happily mentioned the Fuel Juice Bar. Once we walked up to the front door and went inside, I was so glad that this cute place was suggested! The Fuel Juice Bar receives a 4.75 out of 5 stars for their fresh food products and lovely decor! Fuel Juice Bar has a unique and calming, atmosphere. Decor included beautiful plants, interesting looking light bulbs attached to sticks, plant - looking chandeliers with light bulb arrangements attached to rope like fixtures, etc. I was immediately drawn to and sat in one of their cool swinging chairs. It gave me the "being on the park swing" combined with "being in a hammock" kind of feeling which made me very relaxed....so much so that I accidentally delayed ordering my food.-lol. Getting refocused because we only had an hour lunch break, I began to peruse the menu. Everything from their "Healthy Isn't a Goal, It's a Way of Living" slogan on a mini-chalkboard near the register to their healthy food/beverage items on the menu lets customers know the this eatery definitely promotes healthy eating/healthy lifestyle. Fuel Juice Bar had a good variety of smoothies, cold pressed juices, acai bowls, salads and raw vegan dishes + desserts. I ordered a Wild Chicken Bowl ($12) which includes brown rice, grilled chicken and some of the freshest vegetables that tasted delicious! I was in the area for an event nearby; I wanted a healthy option and looked for the closest juice bar. As my friend who invited me to the event lives on this block-- it was picture perfect. The place was relatively empty other than one person ahead of me. I was still browsing the menu once the employee was done with her so he began to make her order. As I've read the reviews after my purchase, I noticed several complaints about the customer service I can kind of see where they are coming from. Although I wasn't prepared he still could have addressed me. Finally when I was ready a lady came out of the back and I ordered the Pineapple Raspberry Colada (Pineapple, Banana, Raspberry, Coconut, Agave and Almond Milk) which comes to 9.25 after tax. The drink was just ok; I thought for what I received, the price point could have been lower. The establishment itself is small but ample. They have some comfortable swings and a decent menu. Everything looked clean and seems like a good thing to have in the community. I do hope some of the staff members look at the reviews and can improve the service here and put as much emphasis on customer service, as they do on placing signs for tips. First, the lady in the front has to work on her customer service. I don't frequent juice bars. I've never been in nor have wanted to dine at a Vegan spot. But on a 85 degree day that felt more like a 100- a cold juice was exactly what I needed and boy am I glad I crossed the street & met Fuel. Immaculately chic interior with my only gripe being the strong cleaning detergent odor- everything sounded intricate, intriguing, and pricey, especially for the area. Clearly this spot is new age and targeting a certain "equinox" type clientele. Nevertheless, I bugged the lady at the counter to give me her recommendations and settled on the quinoa black chicken seitan bowl. And a hot turmeric latte, with cashew milk. How cool is that? Let me be the first to say- it's not even about that. 15 minutes later I am given this made to order frothy hot latte and this piping hot bowl of beautifully portioned and balanced plate of art. The Super Food quinoa bowl was great and had good flavours. Didn't expect it to be so filling but it was! Make a great lunch. Also ordered the açai bowl which was yummy and not too sweet. You will try to make it work, you'll give second, third, fourth chances and hope things repair but you know the end is near. You can feel the energy of workers that don't want to be there. I poured it and the bottom was solid!! I was absolutely horrified. As soon as I took a sip I almost vomited. There aren't that many places that offer the kind of food that they do here (clean and vegan); especially since Veggies NJB moved to Hawthorne & Nostrand. I work in the area and I literally hate coming here when the women are working. They have the nastiest attitudes and don't even want to answer questions about the products. They don't say Hi, even when you walk in saying hello. When I first started working in this area about a year ago I went there everyday for about 2 weeks and was not receiving my purchase stars. I showed them the proof in my banking app and was waved off by the same woman with the piercing under her bottom lip that always gives bad customer service. For every negative customer experience, I will be posting a new review. Something needs to change and I'm tired of the poor service and high prices. The two Hispanic females in the front STILL need to be replaced. Nasty attitudes and will ignore customers repeatedly. I waited until the blonde one came off the phone so she could take my order, then as she starts to take my order she takes another call and completely ignores me. Even went to the back for some time when she could have simply taken my order. She came back to the front as is literally ignoring me to search for an email. I had to ask 3 times if she could just take my order. They know they take forever to make orders, they don't take orders over the phone, and if you order on the app you can't earn loyalty stars. Now I'm back and the same phone that she was so eager to pick up, she is completely ignoring. This place's main focus is to give poor customer service. So, decided to stop in on my walk home after my workout. I must say I VERY HAPPY I did. I had the absolute BEST acai bowl I have ever had. I decided to try the pre/post workout bowl. It was full of such goodness!! In addition to the bottom, which has Brazilian nuts, almonds and dates; and the filling, which has almond milk, acai, bananas,blueberries and agave; and the topping which has granola and fresh fruit, there were chia seeds, almond butter, and hemp protein added in the filling and chia seeds on top. I walk into the listed location with the assumption that all the locations had the same items on the menu, as I was placing an order for a friend. However, to my dismay they do not. The young lady behind the counter looked like she had just rolled out of bed and her disposition mirrored her appearance. When I was unclear of some of the food choices she offered no help, only to call the person and "make sure I ordered the correct item as they are many options". I don't know if they're in there playing around but I've ordered food from them several times, almost 40mins prior and when I arrive it's either they forgot to make it which results in a 20-30min wait or I have to wait an extra 10mins to add 1 more ingredient. I noticed this spot before and I was passing it today, so lucky for me I decided to stop in. "Fuel Juice Bar" is a nice corner spot on Fulton. When I walked in they were playing Spanish music that made the day sound colorful. I danced up to the counter and noticed they had a prepared menu of smoothies, sandwiches, salads and soup bowls. I made my own smoothie because I wanted bananas and strawberries. The gentleman behind the counter recommended I try Agave, a sweet ingredient, to add some flavor. I took his advice and they went to work on my smoothie. I danced to the music and feed of the energy in "Fuel." When my smoothie was ready I tried it out. All I can say is bravo to the man that recommended Agave! It added something I never knew was missing from my smoothie. I think I can only have it made this way now. Juice bar is a bit misleading... They have a fridge with about 3 different prebottled juices, sometimes shipped from a few days beforehand (antioxidants don't last this long).
