Yesterday we grabbed lunch from Avo in the food hall at Industry City. Overall, we liked our meal and it was a good experience. This was the first time either of us tried Avo. I placed an order for us from the kiosk, which was easy and intuitive. He got the Greek Salata with an organic tofu add-on, and I went with a warm Salmon Goddess Plate. Originally I placed an order for two Green Protein smoothies, but the shop ran out of vegan protein, so I got two Choco Banana Brew smoothies instead. The food was really good. We both also loved the Choco Banana Brew smoothies, which has cold brew coffee, almond milk, almond butter, cocoa nibs, banana, and agave. They make them really good here - I'm going to try to make a dupe at home until I can go back. Plus, the staff working at Avo yesterday were cool and friendly. We'll definitely be back to try that Green Protein smoothie and other items off the menu! read more

Nestled in the Industry City food court is this new bowl phenomenon called Avo. Seed oil free, healthy and nutritious - there is so much to love about this bowl. I ordered the buy one get one free spicy chicken bowl on Uber Eats, which was a pretty good deal. I think the additional chicken al pastor I added had more seasoning than the original chicken, even though this bowl is advertised as spicy, I think the seasonings are a little on the light side. The dressing that came on the side was delicious and was essential to brighten the whole thing up. I love that these bowls are high fiber and not drowning in lots of rice like Chipotle and the likes. The cabbage adds a necessary crunch for texture without adding too many calories. The addition of the half avocado is also so good and the flavor profile of the entire bowl is really delicious. I can't wait to come again and try more of their combos. This is a great spot to grab a quick lunch or mid afternoon meal. They will be seeing more of me! read more

I ordered from Avo in Sunset Park IC again and, as always, the food was amazingly fresh and healthy! Everything tastes super clean and well-balanced you can tell they use quality ingredients. I got the Salmon Goddess Plate, Spicy Chicken Bowls, and some kombucha, and everything hit the spot. I always love ordering food here for work it's consistent, energizing, and never heavy. I'm surprised you couldn't put that together. We ordered the salmon plate (and I blame my wife. I wanted tacos and pizza, but she wants me to "live past 50"), with an extra side of avocado. The salmon plate comes with all kinds of veggies, half an avocado, and a smaller piece of salmon than I'd like on a bed of too much quinoa. The very nice staff just put an extra half an avocado on the plate itself, and sprinkled both with cashew parmesan. Since I'd ordered the extra avocado for my kid who doesn't believe in vegan cheese, I was forced to ask for another on the side and so we were blessed with three avocado halves for the price of two. I was happy to come across acovaderia while I was in Industry City for an event. They offer a somewhat healthier menu amongst all the other food vendors there. The portion sizes are pretty reasonable for the price, but it tasted a little bland, even with the olives mixed in. The corn was also a little dried out, which speaks to it's freshness. They had a sign for $7 avocado smoothies, but you had to download an app to claim. I spent 10 minutes downloading the app and trying to make it work only to have it be spinning the whole time. The store employee said I had to be on their wifi, sure, I tried that, except it still wouldn't work. They told me to go outside and try downloading again. I think I am never stepping foot inside this place again. Also, they didn't have any avocado smoothies. It's all a scam to get you to download their shitty app. Which doesn't work. Why??? I was a little disappointed after seeing a news report on the location in Manhattan and an interview with the owner. This is not a sit down location and the only place to sit is in the community food hall. There is no waiter service. Avocaderia is located in " Industry City" which are converted industrial buildings in Sunset Park Brooklyn. There are a lot of cool things to see here such as artwork, some retail shops and good food choices to sample. Don't get me wrong the food was good, the staff was nice. I would give it 4 stars for that. They have very healthy choices, juices, and Vegan and Gluten free options. The portions were decent although considering this is not a sit down location it's a little pricey. Especially juices in a bottle for $6.50. The rest of the experience was 2 stars. As you can see by the photos it is a small space probably 25' x 15' at best. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there were only 2 people on staff. There were about 10 customers. It did not take very long to get my order, although the whole thing felt rushed. You have to get your own utensils which are plastic of course. THEY DO NOT TAKE CASH! They sight health reasons although in my opinion it's just a way to increase profit by not having to deal which paying for change, having a commercial bank account for night deposits, worrying about employee theft or having an armed robbery (Not a bad thing) Even the credit card acceptance and process to have a receipt emailed or texted to you makes the customer work too much. In many peoples eyes this is discrimination against lower income individuals. The city of Philadelphia introduced a bill that passed banning retail store from not accepting cash. I don't think I would go back, the food was good, I just got the feeling that the owners care more about their bottom line than providing a great customer experience and making it almost completely self service. read more

My friends and I made the trek to brunch at Avocaderia today and we enjoyed it. It's inside this Industry City food court/shopping center, has no seats on its own, but there's (very awkward, not ideal for groups) seating outside provided by the building. No wait on a Sunday at 3:30. I got the Twist and Sprouts, which I may have fantasized for weeks and was excited for. I think it was overrated so I was let down. It was just average. I didn't enjoy the crunchy items, and felt that it was sparse in brussel sprouts. I didn't get full from it, either. 3/5. My friends' orders were better! They got the Prince Salmon (4/5), Mediterranean (5/5), Greek Island (5/5), guacamole (3/5 was bland and needed lime or garlic), and pumpkin soup (3/5 needed seasoning). Worth the trek to try once! Since I very much like avocados, I've been meaning to try Avocaderia for some time. I was in the area earlier and able to do so. Known as the world's first avocado bar, Avocaderia is all things avocado. This includes avo toast, avo salads, avo burgers and avo smoothies. It's located in the food hall among many other eateries in Industry City. The store itself was small but cute and clean. No seating within Avocaderia but as with all food halls, there's a general area with lots of seating/tables to eat on the premises. This was my first visit and I was seeking something basic. I selected the Chill Out avocado toast. It was ready in just a few minutes and included one slice of toasted multi grain bread topped with avocado combined with some spices, lime citronette and chilli. It had a slight kick to it. There was the option to top it with an egg for an extra $2.00, but I passed. The colorful menu was affixed to the wall and my selection ($6.95) seemed to be the minimum with prices averaging around $8.95 and above. My opinion is lukewarm. I enjoyed it but observed the following: the layer of avocado seemed to be 1/8 of an inch (a bit skimpy) and it wasn't very filling. Couldn't tell you if other selections included two slices of toast or would satisfy hunger as a proper meal. While they were both delicious, I definitely preferred the Meditteranean toast as it was much more flavorful. The store is an order-at-the-counter type place. It's located inside a warehouse-looking building that also contains a few other small food counters. While the seating is limited indoors, there's a great amount of space to sit and eat outside (hopefully you won't go during a rainy day like I did!) After a carb and butter-fueled romp around NYC, my body was calling out for something green...and I knew this LA girl couldn't go wrong with getting a salad from a place called Avocaderia. Which begs the question... so why didn't you open up in LA first?! I ordered the Spicy Chicken bowl, sub habanero sauce for the chipotle mayo. It was well proportioned, full of yummy fresh ingredients with various textures (the rice had an enjoyable crunch, especially with a bite of spinach and avo), and most importantly, tasty and nutritious. For the ~$15 I spent, I couldn't have gotten any more of my money's worth anywhere else for what I wanted. Someone mentioned SG--be honest, for a salad this size with this many ingredients, you'd have to spend at least 25% more. Now again... please open one in LA! Reading through some of the negative comments I've seen, just wanted to say that knocking points off for this establishment being part of a food hall is a bit ridiculous. This is not about the food or the staff. I ordered a bowl and was enjoying it until I felt something sharp in my mouth. It was a piece of glass - I was also sharing with my toddler so I was shocked. Took it to them immediately - they gave me a refund without a proper apology. They took my email saying the owner would apologize but I did not receive anything. Great concept for avocado lovers such as myself except I do not see myself coming as a regular but more so on days when I'm feeling a little adventurous with my avocado cravings. Food - We ordered the Greek Salad, El Salmon toast, and the Avoburger. The avoburger was a bit disappointing. The "burger" was made up one of large avocado split into two with salmon, yogurt sauce, and some greens in between. It was surrounded by even more greens and pita chips. I guess I expected more for something that costs $14. The Greek salad was the best out of the 3 dishes--very flavorful, very fresh. Location - This place is not easy to get to, which again ties in with the fact that this is not a place I would be a regular for. Verdict: super disappointing and bland! As others have said they need to learn to season their food. This definitely needed salt and acid, i don't think it had either. This is pretty basic and a simple fix...if several people are noting it not sure what the problem is. I also agree with another reviewer who said the egg was under-poached.
