I normally come here for a smoothies after the gym and go. The fruit has always been fresh. Every time I come here everyone has been extremely friendly. The only down side I've noticed is that the sitting area is a bit cluttered and seemed not thoroughly cleaned (I've noticed this a couple of times). read more

Ovi's is located in the heart of Flatbush; across the street from Brooklyn College..Thus, Ovi's caters to the College students and Flatbush Community. If you're in the mood to shop for new Nikes and get a bite to eat then Ovi's is your place. I've eaten here numerous times and decided to order food to go as I was visiting my mom. Ovi's offers a variety of options from pressed juices, smoothies, salads and platters. The platters range from 1/4 chicken and one side: fried plantains, tostones, black beans and rice etc for $8.99 or 1/2 chicken with a side for $11.99 and more options. I ordered two 1/2 chicken platters with a side of tostones and side of fried plantains. The order also came with a side of spicy green sauce and red onions. I also ordered a small pressed juice with spinach, ginger and apples. A bargain for $3.19. Well is Ovi's the place? Not exactly... The chicken was tasty but dry thus the green sauce added a needed kick. The tostones were a bit hard and the onions were picante. The real star were the fried plantains or platanos maduros: they were sweet, mushy and tasted like caramel. As for the pressed juice: ginger overload. Here's the other disconnect: upon checkout I showed the owner(?) the 10% promo off order upon Yelp checkin. He stated he doesn't honor it and didn't know that Ovi's was under Yelp. Additionally, he stated the pic Yelp used it's not Ovi's. I showed him the address listed under Ovi's and it was 2925 Avenue H. He stated still not this place. I guess the $2.90 that I would have saved might break Ovi's piggy bank. So, Yelp, Ovi's doesn't need your help with brand recognition thus you might want to remove it? Just sayin... read more

There was absolutely no love put into this meal. I ordered chicken, mac and cheese, beans, and a smoothie. Those are all good that I love. There was no salt or pepper or any seasoning on the food. All three of those meals were super bland, and no. I don't have Covid. I taste just fine. Also, the smoothie was just fruits with waaay too much water. It wasn't sweet in the slightest. And it came in a plastic Starbucks cup. Did you guys order Starbucks and wash the cup? And then used it for my order? That's gross. read more

I am just so tired of being fed slop in New York City. My grilled chicken was overcooked and then drenched in some salsa-like substance. Chicken was still so dry that it was hard to chew... I appreciate them making the salad I ordered but they definitely did not fill the container. And the lettuce is already wilted. Definitely didn't get my money's worth there. Dude had his mask on his chin n talked THE WHOLE TIME he was making my salad. I know there's no mask mandate anymore but food workers should ALWAYS have masks on. I refuse to eat anyone's dna in my food and that's what would have happened if I ate the salad today. On top of that the ingredients weren't even all that fresh. He replied" I was just eating". I said "That is not true, every time I come in here or a member of my family comes in, you are not wearing a mask. I usually only come here for the salads and smoothies. Their salad is expensive it's like $13 with chicken but it's pretty fresh and good. sometimes I get a toasted croissant with egg and cheese and a turkey panini. I don't particularly like their pre-made hot meals and today I ordered the chef salad with ham and turkey and didn't like it. Salads are best when you make them yourself versus premade menu. We've ordered thru Grubhub numerous times and we really like the food but lately there is a problem. The delivery process is terrible. We waited over 2 hours last week for food and never got it. The time before that the food came 45 mins late and the driver insisted on a tip. I don't know if he didn't understand the Grubhub tip process or if he was playing games. Came here once before for lunch. This was my first time and I decided to give it a try. Ordered a croissant with egg and cheese and it was very bland. They just added salt and pepper. No taste what so ever. My expectations was high because of the price that I was paying. There aren't too many options to eat around the junction that aren't fast food or packed. Ovi's Place is right near the Brooklyn College campus and has some good food and it's really easy on the wallet. I always get their chicken breast and 1 side meal and I'm never disappointed. The grilled chicken has the right mix of juicy with a nice bit of char around the edging and their sides are huge portions of greens, mac and cheese, salad or 3 to 4 other options that I haven't tried yet. I told the guy who was ringing me up that I liked spicy and now he puts a couple of other pickled veggies on that give it that extra kick along with their hot sauce. So glad this place is around because otherwise it would be nothing but the Golden Arches or BK to eat. read more

Really enjoyable restaurant and take out place. Their salads are super tasty and healthy for you - yeah, it's difficult to believe. I came here twice and I won't stop coming back - it's an affordable place with a wide selection of good and healthy food! Also, their proportions are huge - so typically a small salad WILL do justice to your stomach! They don't only sell salads; Ovi's also offers paninis, sandwiches, omelettes, actual meals like chicken, rice, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, fruit salads, desserts (cookies, bag of nuts, etc). They also have smoothies that they make for you (fresh) or you can opt for Naked beverages in the fridge as well as other assortment of unhealthy drinks (Pepsi, coca cola, etc). Good food at an affordable price! I'm a student at Brooklyn College so forgetting to pack my meals isn't a huge deal with this place around. For Breakfast they provide egg sandwiches + egg platters that are pretty much customizable. Lunch/Dinner they've got... - various sandwich options - platter options like chicken breast/roast chicken, beef, pork etc... with an array of sides for a balanced meal. They also have Smoothies + Juices I have yet to try these but I'm glad I have that option. My only knock on them would be that they tend to lose track of your food. I've been there on multiple occasions and have had stuff missing from my order (that I've had to pay for). I do tip every time I go, so it'd be nice if they got the order right. Other than that, customer service is awesome. All the employees are helpful + friendly. read more

If you're a Brooklyn College student, you don't have many options, & this place gets a 3.5 overall & based off the options in this neighborhood, I would give it a 4. There are many affordable options: chicken soup here is scrumptious & pretty consistent. I love slow cooked chicken with the bones present-- my mama is from the 3rd world, so this is definitely in my palette. They also have juices & they're also affordable. $4-$6 and for a juice, that's not bad. They make 'em fresh & have ginger, kale, oranges, apples & they even have a green known as MORINGA which is loaded with nutrients & difficult to find in the states. Salads are ehhh for me. They have everything you need, but they just don't do it for me. Burritos I love. I mean, they're not California burritos but... they're big, you get to choose, & they aren't shy about making it a big one for you. Plantains are great & sandwiches here are decent. Nothing special, but okay. I'm a loyal customer, though this isn't the fanciest place to eat because they're affordable, the customer service is great & they are quick with it. I placed an order at 10:27 on Seamless. It was supposed to be here 11:27-11:37 according to the website and text I received. I tried to call when it was late but it just rang and went to a fax machine noise. The food finally came at 12:05. I know exactly where this place is because I've ordered in person both to go and to stay. It is VERY close to where I live. I ordered just coffee & sides which are usually sitting in warmers ready to scoop out and serve. It should not have taken over an hour & a half for my food to arrive. I am aware that when regular classes are in session at Brooklyn College it is crazy here & there will be a line out the door with all the seats taken during lunch hours, but it's summer and it was early when I ordered. There was no gravy on my mashed potatoes. There is no option to add it so I assume that you have to write it in as a comment in order to get it. On Seamless, they do not include the cookies they sell which is upsetting because those are good. The sweet plantains weren't very ripe when they were cooked so they were very firm and dry. The mac & cheese was good. The mashed potatoes were a little watery, but still good. The cornmeal and beans were stiff since I don't think it sells very well but it was ok. The coffee was impressively wrapped so there were zero spills which was nice. They sent me a couple of 1 ounce cups containing what seems to be an interesting homemade hot sauce. The reason I'm not quite sure is because it has little bits of garlic, corn & green peas floating in it. I tried some. It kinda tasted like Tabasco. One of the times I went in with someone to order, we got the cod fish. The guy didn't tell us we'd have to wait a good 15mins for it & that it happened to be the whole fish with bones & skin included. We waited patiently and ate it anyway. It was good, but it would have been nice to know in advance since it much more tedious to eat. I'd recommend going here in person rather than ordering if you're really hungry since the Flatbush area is sadly lacking in anything remotely healthy (if you thought Chinese take-out places were unhealthy, try going to Peking on Flatbush & you'll see how much more grease you can get with your noodles for free!), but avoid this place if you can because they are overpriced for the quality you're getting and most of the meat is fried. For those of you who go there for the smoothies and juices, juice isn't that good for you anyway & you can get your smoothies from the new bubble tea spot nearby called Jupioca that opened on Hillel Place with less hassle and just as many options (unless of course you're like me and you go there with the intention of being healthy & then find that you can't fight the urge to order bubble tea instead lol). read more

As Ted C mentioned, the area has very few decent eating establishments. Ovi's place isnt one of them either. Other posters that claim that this place is cheap are delusional, or rich! First of all their Menu board is a nightmare. For a place that basically just serves grilled chicken, wraps, salads and smoothies, you have to stand there for ten minutes trying to figure out whats what and what it costs. The sign is literally 6 feet tall by about 12 feet wide, and tiny print. I only wish I had a picture. Cost is the biggest concern. Everything is actually overpriced for a fast serve joint on Flatbush ave. A salad, which they'll mix in front of you, will cost anywhere between 6 and $20 depending on what you select. The worst part is even if you select the same thing every time (I usually eat there about once a month) the price comes out different. They really nickle and dime you for every little thing, and you never know what the clerk will ring up. The food itself is just ok. The salads are fine, but the chicken is usually dry, and only the dressings makes it tolerable. My advice would be for this place to change its format to a self serve salad bar (by the pound) and take down that insane Menu! Also a maekover might help. A coworker and I placed an order on seamless where we ordered burritos, tacos and chips. There aren't many options that deliver so we were excited when this new place had a delivery option. The order did not arrive until 2 hours later and the food came in cold and hard shell tacos soggy. The burritos were sub par at most, it is something you could eat if you're super hungry and don't care how good it tastes. We also ordered sour cream on the side which turned out to literally be "sour"... hopefully we don't get sick from eating rotten food. I got a small chef's salad and i was impressed with the amount of food they put into the salad. The salad has a lot of meat in it so its great for meat lovers trying to eat a little healthier. Juicy and well seasoned on the inside. potato salad is simple and perfect texture with large chunks of potato you can bite into. just the right amount of Mayo dressing for my taste. Spicy cabbage nice and tart and packing a decent amount of heat. This side is a nice counterpoint to the more subdued flavors of the chicken. The little vinegary hot sauce you get is also perfect for any grilled dish IMO. Try to weasel an extra if you go. You'll use it. I had a custom juice of apple, carrot, parsley, ginger (hot.) it was fresh and delicious. Service was cheerful, helpful and professional. I should've gotten her name...first of all, I told her I wanted the Kramer salad and she asked me if I wanted dressing and I said no dressing. And she repeated herself and so I repeated myself. So she made the salad with no dressing and it was warm...I don't know why but who eats salads warm? It was disgusting. And I also asked for a BLT with ketchup, no mayo. She put mayo, no ketchup. And the worst part? It looks disgusting and tasted disgusting. I wish I took a picture of it but I was too disgusted. It looked like she tossed it around and then wrapped it. I ordered the 1/2 chicken platter instead of the 1/4 specifically to be sure I got a wing. No wing, but a small piece of back. The chicken was roasted and OK. Moist enough, but seriously bland. The green plantains were what they should be, as were the collard greens, which benefitted from the vinegary hot sauce. I would not order from them again. Overpriced. I stopped coming here a long time ago, but ended up in here for a smoothie today. First, thank you for the nice little sample cup you give with the smoothie. If it weren't for this little cup, I wouldn't have known that my smoothie was bad. It tasted like the fruit had gone bad. When I told the lady that made it she looked at the berries and says they are fine. I asked her can I individually taste the blueberries. She comes back with a spoon of 3, I'm guessing she tried to choose the best ones. The first blueberry was fine but the second almost made me throw up in my mouth. Obviously, the blueberries had gone bad, which she denied. I had three different women in my face telling me the blueberries were fine and the drink tasted fine. Talk about customer service skills. My instinct was to leave but I knew it was just fruit and that they might not be well trained in customer service. So I allowed them to make me another smoothie. This time with just strawberries and banana. It tasted a little better but almost the same like the banana was going bad, I threw it out. Lesson learned go with your instinct... There Salads and Smoothies are the Bomb! This is my Goto spot for Salads and Smoothies every time I'm there. The Staff is very friendly and the place is clean. This spot is located right across from BK College and if you have a CUNY ID from BK College your entitled to a discount on top of other discounts in the restaurant. There small Salads and there Large Salads are the same size so why are you paying $1 more? That's the only down size. Everything else is no problem. read more

It's hard to go wrong here. I've been a couple of times because it's so close to BC. Typically I'll get a rotisserie chicken and make rice and beans at home. Their rice and beans aren't solid so I would recommend doing that. It's easy and cheap and convenient and it's a perfect spot for BC students who need a quick bite. read more
