Quick & tasty.. Lunch hours line is out the door only because the place is so confined.

3.9 stars, rounded up. Remains a good restaurant…read more Service and FoH can vary widely in consistency affecting your experience. Friends, and lots of chefs I know in the area, avoid bc of this specific reason. Diner had my original review taken down when I mentioned this? I usually repost and substract a star when this happens, but Diner does remain close to my heart. It does need to work on the consistency end of things, as with entrees in the $48 range (for real) everyone should know what they're doing. For the most part, they do. Remains a neighborhood fav.

The servers come directly to your table and they write down the menu for the day. The menu generally run American classics, but a bit more "chefy" than a run of the mill diner. Unfortunately, I think I came on an off day, as there were some miscues. The clam dish had a ton of potential, but was noticeably overseasoned, and I'm a self-proclaimed salt lover. It was mentioned that the pork chop was going to be medium to medium-rare, but what we received was in the edge of well done (and even burned on some ends). The burger and fries, though, were fantastic. A bit hit or miss, but I do want to come back as the menu is creative and I'm sure it would have been great on a better day.

Super popular for a reason, but oh so very difficult to get a reservation. Earliest spot we were…read moreable to secure was for a 2pm brunch. We got the pancakes and breakfast sandwich. The pancakes are some of the best I've ever had. So fluffy and light soaked in the sweet butter syrup. To die for. I felt like the breakfast sandwich was kind of a flop, I felt like it was missing a sauce to it and it just felt like items smacked together, nothing innovative. Overall crowded and busy for such a tiny space, but I still love coming here.

Evidently they are famed far and wide for their pancakes, which are quite delicious. I actually prefer more texture in mine, with a bit of crisp from the butter/griddle, but you will not be sad about eating these. That said, I truly enjoyed almost everything else more. This is not a knock on them in any way, but a compliment to their kitchen that all their food is interesting and delicious. To wit: The Thai Cobb salad has the base of a classic, but with the heat and the acid of a proper som tum. The KFC wings are everything I wanted them to be. I ate way too many. The Mushroom Reuben Quesadilla (pastrami-spiced portobello!) actually evokes the flavors of a reuben, and may just have been my favorite bite of the evening. I rolled with a katsu club sandwich for my main, and it was outstanding, although I may even have liked the tuna melt more. I was too full for dessert, but I think everyone around the table enjoyed theirs. The staff is uniformly friendly, welcoming, on top of their shit, and honestly, just so cool. They made us feel at home, and got us everything we needed and more. This is a gem. Maybe I won't wait seven years to try the next trendy spot.

Tiny little place, lightly decorated with Mexican themes. Came here based on Yelp's high ratings…read moreand it certainly lived up to praise. If you're looking for fanfare, this ain't the place. But if you're looking for some excellent, straight forward, wonderfully crafted simplicity, this is in your wheelhouse. A quesadilla is a quesadilla, a hamburger a hamburger. Sounds boring? Not when your hamburger and quesadilla are amongst the best you've ever had at any diner, anywhere. Our waitress was very nice and allowed us to dine, unbothered. We ordered a fresh fruit platter for dessert. It included watermelon, mango, grapes, apples, strawberries, etc. very nice, well presented. The dining area certainly belies what happens in that kitchen behind the door. I'll be back to try some more simple, but excellent food.

We were staying in the neighborhood and trying to find a spot within walking distance for dinner…read more After wandering around for awhile, we landed on Jey Diner after walking past. This spot has a handful of tables and while we were there, quite a few to-go orders were picked up as well. Though we were the only diners, so I assume it's more of a breakfast/brunch spot. The menu is rather expansive with options from breakfast to lunch and dinner. After studying the menu, we opted for the Veggie Burger and the Meatball Parm Po'Boy. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes, which seemed a little long as we were the only diners, but we were not in a rush so it was fine. As the restaurant was unassuming, I honestly had pretty low expectations, but we both really enjoyed our meals. It was definitely large portions and really flavorful. My fiance said the Meatball Parm Po'Boy was delicious and I appreciated that the veggie burger seemed to be made in house as it was falling apart (in a good way) and you could distinguish some of the veggies. I ended up only eating about half of my burger and took the rest for lunch the next day and it held up well.

Once we got seated, we got to see the very old-school, fun atmosphere inside, and were seated at a very comfortable booth, which is great for a group! We got the baby back ribs, eggplant parm, Caesar salad, vinegar chicken, and brownie sundae. The Caesar salad was all right, nothing amazing, but still done well! Just didn't blow me away. The vinegar chicken was awesome! The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, and it was packed with flavor. The sauce was to die for. The eggplant Parmesan was also great! It was executed perfectly. The sauce had great flavor, and the eggplant was tender, yet crispy on the outside. The ribs were also great. They had a nice tangy barbecue sauce and were cooked very well. The brownie sundae looked awesome. However, it didn't blow me away. I felt like the mint ice cream was good, but I wish there were more brownie pieces in there. The service was also great and super friendly, and I like that they have crayons at the table so you can draw on them. I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving some great American food!

The mix of a thousand island type sauce with ketchup made this burger a 10/10. The sesame bun gives the burger a great softness with all the other textures. + the fries gave me the feeling of an elevated mcdonald's fry! caesar salad was perfect. Lots of lettuce, not overly anchovy and just the croutons were soft and crisp at the same time? very much enjoyed how big of a portions all of these items were. chicken parm sauce was tangy and had good flavoring with the perfect melted cheese on top of the soft but crisp edges of the chicken. i'd highly recc all three items we got! service was quick once we got seated and was nice to be outside in the warm weather.

It took a longer than I expected to be offered a drink or to ask what I want. But after I ordered, the food, came out extremely fast. I started reading a book and I didn't even get to the third page before it came out. The crostata was absolutely delicious. It was blueberry lemon, I didn't think I could eat three pancakes for the order so I decided to go with that and it was just the right size. Crisp, sweet, tart, crunchy, it was a perfect little treat for myself. Most definitely would order again. The BEC pierogies were tasty, but I felt like I should've at least gotten seven or eight for $16. That's 2.50 a dumpling for 6. I wish I had more for the price point or at least that they were more filled with stuffing, like it's eggs. I'm not disappointed just I was still slightly hungry when I left, which is not what I wanna feel after paying $38 for breakfast with tip. Not unreasonably priced just you don't feel like you're getting a good bargain is all. They are handmade. I'll give them that. The service was lovely. I may be back to try some other things, I would love to try the latkes. It was a cute environment for sure, Ukrainian diner vibes. I'm not in Williamsburg very often but it was a nice change of pace.
