I had to write this review. I literally just ordered this food (June 3rd, 3025). I don't know who in the hell cooked this curry goat, rice & peas and potato salad. Whoever it was need to be ashamed!!!!!! Firstly, the potatoes in the curry goat was huge. The curry goat had no taste. The rice and peas was not cooked properly and please don't let me start on the potato salad. The potato salad was wet and just nasty. Today's lunch: jerk wings + rice & peas with oxtail gravy + cabbage + fried plantains. Best jerk chicken and homemade jerk sauce everrr! The chicken isn't spicy at all but the jerk sauce is super spicy. The whole time I'm eating it I'm sucking air to cool off but it's impossible to stop. In fact, I like extra. Fun fact: they sell it by the jar!...I also love that the plantains are sliced thinly, fried well but not burnt, and not too sweet. Rice & peas with oxtail gravy is divine and the cabbage, pretty good. The ackee & salt fish w fried dumplings is also my favorite! Get there before 11 or 12 for this because they typically run out by then. If you have to eat on the spot, there's a bar that seats about 3 people. Otherwise, plan to take it to-go. I've never had a bad meal and the customer service provided by the family is great. Price is right too! This (medium) meal was $10 and way too much to finish at once. read more

Got the large oxtail with Mac salad + cabbage and a side of jerk chicken. I wanted to cry it was so good. The oxtail had a lot of meat on the bone unlike other places that just serve bones. The mac salad was delicious and tangy. The jerk chicken is spicy!! But so flavorful and taste like the grill too. My only complaint was the plantains weren't soft/sweet which is maybe typical for Caribbean food but more like a neutral flavor starch. To me that's really a personal preference and I'm not ordering the oxtail meal for the plantains. The large is massive. Ordered breakfast through ubereats and was quite disappointed. I ordered the Ackee and saltfish breakfast and got nothing but saltfish. If you cant afford to give me more ackee than saltfish then just leave the item off the menu or at least call the customer to let them know you're out. The cornmeal porridge I got for my daughter didn't taste right either. Tasted like they used water instead of milk. I will not be eating here again sadly. Very good. Very spicy, You've been warned. Maybe say no to the sauce, that would help. Extremely orange rectangular patties with a crust that is a little tough IMHO, it is probably a more traditional crust than the flaky version at Silver Krust but I don't quite like it as much and I thought there was too much of it and too little filling. This restaurant is so so as time goes by.. No attention to detail and when fulfilling an order they've ignored dietary restrictions without notifying the customer. More interested in money than mutual exchange of support for service unfortunately. Am going to try a few nearby spots that actually have a nicer presentation and respect customer requests in notes regarding not overloading plates with diabetic foods to take up space and mixing hot and cold foods. I've worked in food service and that's just not how u do things, mixing food temperatures and overriding customers dietary restrictions. I recommend trying other nearby options. read more

I tend to be an early riser and hop out of bed with a full agenda in hand and the motivation to get it done. On those Saturdays, my perception of actual time can be completely thrown off with a robust list of activities occurring before10 in the morning.Such is the case on one Saturday when I entered PJs with oxtails on my mind. when I placed the order, I noticed the slight awkward reaction of the worker as she paused and then checked in the back to see if this option was available. My initial thought is, "I hate when items are included on the menu that are never carried", but as she returned with an affirmative answer and I waiting for my to-go plate to compiled, I realized that the "awkwardness" was based on the timing of close to 10:30 am. We clearly hadn't even hit the lunch hour let alone the Sunday feast hour. Honestly, the food taste was not amazing and was somewhat bland, which is surprising given the great amount of Caribbean food options just a few blocks over, but hey I still thank you PJs for coming through on my dinner request at breakfast time. But of course not this restaurant has been in the neighborhood before the gentrification and they make authentic JAMAICAN FOOD. I love the stew peas on the weekend and the jerk pork. My daughter Shakaya ordered food from PJ's for the first time. The food was delicious, myself and my husband had the Oxtail meal my daughter had the Jerk Chicken. I guess they ran out of Plantains because we didn't get ours with the meals to taste. We will definitely continue to order just hope we get our complete meal the next time. Just wanted to let everybody know that if you're looking for great Jamaican flavor spices and variety this is the place. The chef is very meticulous about the way he puts the ingredients together. That is not a day that goes by that the staff members do not show professionalism and concern for their customers. This is a family-owned business and they treat you like family. The place is kept clean and the food is always on heaters at the required temperatures. Although there are a number of different Jamaican restaurants in the neighborhood this one is the one I choose to eat from and be okay that I gain weight. If I'm going to gain weight I'll do it happily with PJ restaurant. They have healthy choices as well you can order a vegetarian platter which would be just as delicious. I can honestly say there is not one item on their menu that I have tried and did not like not one. My birthday will be coming up in February perhaps I can get a discounted birthday platter of curry goat and cabbage. People you have to try this restaurant you will not be disappointed but you will be constantly licking your fingers with the urge to secretly lick your plate.
